This is probably the best political ad I’ve seen this season. If Retired Air Force Lt. Colonel Charlie Brown is half as loose and engergized as this spot, John Doolittle may really be in trouble.

Matt Lauer sticks to his guns and presses Bush repeatedly on the use of waterboarding and other torture.

Note how Bush guards his plausible deniability about the techniques being used, placing any culpability for illegal torture techniques on the Justice Department lawyers who he asked to obtain information but “do it within the law.”

PS: What’s up with the standing interview? And the two of them standing nose to nose?
