Stop Digging! Mark Sanford Edition

7/1/09, 7:04 pm EST

Mark Sanford, apparently unwilling to accept the gift of Michael Jackson’s all-media consuming death, has reinserted himself into the national conversation by talking about his feelings toward his mistress to AP:

“I will be able to die knowing that I had met my soul mate.”

My jaw, along with Mrs. Sanford’s, presumably, is on the floor.

Ah, far-right conservatives. They do talk a good game, at least, but in the end they always turn out to be creepier than those they rail against. Never fails.

He was probably talking about the great leader, the supreme comander, the grand dragon… whatever they are calling it these days.
But, hey, let him keep at it, take the others along with him.

He’s one of those attention starved people. The U.S. is full of them. If it wasn’t American Idol would take up 8 episodes or less a season and America’s Funniest Home videos just wouldn’t exist.

Meanwhile V.P. Biden held a conference trying to pitch some high speed internet and 100 people (a high number for a Biden ralley) showed up. Less than 6 million people watched Obama’s ABC pitch for universal health care. Maybe those two should take a trip to Argentina.

At the same time suicides are rampant in the U.S. Military, so are instances of soldiers refusing to return to combat. Given that since WWII, NO American soldiers have been asked (ordered?) into so many combat engagements, this should come as no big surprise.

Tomdispatch dot com has an interesting article on the volunteer army, some insight on how/why it came to be, a good deal on the reluctance of soldiers to return to an unpopular/unsupported war and, of particular news and interest to me, some discussion on American soldiers deliberately avoiding contact with the enemy.

Paraphrasing ’search and destroy,’ it’s called ’search and avoid,’ and apparently it’s quite popular with troops in Iraq.

I googled “search and avoid” and got over 200K hits. Maybe those aren’t relative to Iraq, but the first page sure was.

Meanwhile, Greg D complained about some stupid triviality, AGAIN…..

Jed Clampett

Well, the latest episode of fresh air showed where the Sanford Affair had it’s beginnings. The Family is a dark force wrapped in religion spreading the hatred espoused by the LEADER (F) and supported by his sympathizers in the (E)States.

Gives whole new meaning to ‘Focus on the Family’ huh?

BTW – Bushney will be Waco for branch davidians this weekend. If I were you, I’d get as far from the Penguin’s black heart as possible, if the excitement makes it blow, he may go nukilar.

Peace

Yup, just like King David. Destined to rule even though he’s a real b@stard. I wonder if the family would have drawn the line at Hitler?

How about that? Joe decided to take an unnanounced trip to Iraq; I guess it will be safer for the next prez outside the country. Where’s the leadership going on holiday?
Underground bunker outside Hyenasport?

The struggle of the people of Iran has dropped from the news cycle, I gue$$ they got their freedom and all has been resolved?

A$$imilation, it comes through repetition and constant pounding on the eardrums, I guess Mrs. Clinton and her ‘constituents’ really need the president to be more forceful in his condemnations to provide ‘justification’. HMMM!!!
Who is she carrying water for?

MIC, because of the money
KEY, un-ceremoniously take the key to the country
MOUSE, here you come to save the day!!??!!??!!
