If she was, let’s fact it – Obama would not have nominated her.

But in fact Tim, some people do know her record quite well. According to Scotus’s Tom Goldstein she is farther Right and more pro-business than Souter.

Another Catholic Right-leaning Moderate is absolutely the worst possible nomination to clean up after Bush.

But with Obama now turning Bush-lite, he made a ’safe’ pick for his own benefit.

I’m more disappointed with him than ever.

Choosing a Supreme Court Justice is more of a Political Statement than finding the right person for the job.
Let’s face it,, If this woman was really QUALIFIED to be a Supreme Court Justice, Would She Submit Herself and her Family through the literal hell and humiliation that she’s about to put herself and her family through??
I think not.
I guess the positive thing about it is she might not have to go through the harassment and stupid questions of Ted Kennedy

Progressive? Maybe. Racist? Maybe. Qualified? Yes.

I don’t understand the progressive support for this woman. She will be a disaster for progressive causes and the pro-choice movement.

Obama betrays the base and panders to the right yet again – though they are too stupid to know it. He will not get my vote in 2012.

He is using the old Reagan trick. Give a little to get a lot and then go back and take the rest. Obama may get a chance at two more seats. I do believe she will be going after many of the big “evils” that the Democrats see rather than trying to uphold the Constitution which would be her job. She already said as much.

It would appear Mr. Panetta has missed the taste of his foot the past couple of months and has felt compelled to reinsert same into his mouth.

It might be ‘good politics’ to keep stirring the pot but I fear it’s bad policy. Nothing to be gained and much to lose. And it’s decidedly immature.

I have major doubts about his being head of the CIA. Talk about politicizing intelligence, the man’s the complete ‘political package.’

I’m not saying we need ‘pros’ at the top of the organization but someone with a little discretion would be nice. Interview with “The New Yorker? How bous-wah-zee. (No, I CAN’T spell it and am too damned tired to look it up.) I can’t spell bureaucrat (hmm, yes I can) without help or being lucky either.

It was a very deliberate and measured expression to the ex-VP that justice are gathering the evidence they so desperately need to prosecute the leaders of an insurrection within the nation.
Since the negative actors have entrenched themselves in the political system and rallied up the weak of mind and spirit, and enjoy the support of moneyed oligarchs that fund them through K street, it is a difficult proposition indeed. They’ve already expressed their willingness to USE THE BASE (as Mr. Powell put it) in any selfish way necessary.
The ball is in their court now, since they’ve already exposed themselves as the true traitors to this nation and the real risk to our security and stability, the entire world’s security.

The Director’s comments merely should make it clear to the public what the source of the next attack will be. And perhaps put a damper on their disruptive plans.

The racists comments from the SC representative recently and other keyword loaded inflammatory language from the GOP should be an indication of where these people get their marching orders from and what their intent is. It’s much easier to murder someone they have denigrated and vilified, and more likely to be accepted by the public… take Linda Jean Palfrey as an example.
Take the ex-VP at his word when he said he had to go DEEP INTO THE DARK SIDE to ‘defend the country’ (from the people?), he has not and will not want to give up the taste he’s developed for the power of the DARK SIDE.
I wonder who Vitter sent over to pay Palfrey a visit, he probably has pictures of her shed as mementos? Are those phone records peppered with names of people from the Lobbying ESTABLISHMENT setting up dates for their marionettes?

“Talk about politicizing intelligence, the man’s the complete ‘political package.’”

Where were you when Pelosi lied about the CIA intelligence she received to pander to her extremist constituents?

you think you can trust the Corporate Influence Agency???

Now who’s living in a fantasy?

Do you not know that lies and deceit is exactly what those people are trained to do.

Murder, disrupt, destabilize, provide body of lies…err, evidence, ’secret information gathering’ techniques hidden in a trial means it was information gathered by illicit means that break the laws of humanity and the nation.
So what would stop them from thinking, in their arrogance and misplaced self-a$$uredne$$, that their crimes are helping the nation instead of reality, destroying the fabric of the Republic.

She will be the 6th Catholic Justice. The other 5 were appointed by Republicans. Doesn’t anyone care that there is a “Religious” majority in our highest court. It seems everyone was talking about Harriet Meyers being a “born again” (Protestant).

What’s up with this?

DirtyDennis | 6/22/2009, 11:46 am EST

56,

I know you’re being clever but if you REALLY revered the old Thunderbirds, you would honor it/them with the correct spelling.

Let’s see, there’s a male majority on the court, a white majority, an old majority, why NOT a religious majority?

Maybe, just maybe, the Catholics are a bit more even-handed in their jurisprudence. Maybe more Catholics go into law. Maybe the pendulum swings first one way and then the next. Maybe, just maybe, no one cares. You think?

DirtyDennis | 6/29/2009, 5:59 pm EST

Hmmm,

Think The Supremes were playing politics today in their New Haven, CN Civil Rights Act ruling? Probably no.

If you wanted to attribute much political impact, you might suggest that the Left will get pretty scared and think all the more reason to assure Sotomayor is confirmed, political consensus be damned.
