I Don’t Care About the Housekeeper…

… but shouldn’t basic tax competency be the least we’d require of a Treasury Secretary — especially one we’re about to entrust with the second $350 billion installment of the presidential slush fund, er, TARP?

I believe Al Franken made the same mistake about self-employment taxes, but you’re gushing about him. Correct me if I’m wrong.

Difficult to find people who are squeaky clean in such a mucked up world, “A”? I thought money made overseas was tax free, apparently, so did he. And who checks their employees immigration status on a weekly basis?

In our imaginary world where our leadership deceives us constantly, one wonders what, if anything, can be done to change that situation.
I guess we must do whatever possible to teach our children to avoid the pitfalls we have fallen into. Particularly, to avoid the selfishness and lack of civility that says that your well being is way more important than even the conservation of the only known planet capable of sustaining our form of life.

It is evident that our way of life is indeed under attack (that of humans, not selfish Americans). As the band Devo points out even with it’s name, we are devolving rather than evolving. Seems our ancestors understood more about our natural world than we even imagine. Yet, at every turn, it seems that we are steered by our leadership to make the wrong choices.
Sometimes I wonder if their deception is deliberate, though it seems that it is not. Looking at the administration, in particular the president, one seems to notice that they are totally deluded as to the nature of our displeasure with their performance. The president thinks his failure with Katrina revolves around whether or not he landed Air Force one, rather than failure to provide assistance in a more timely manner or the forced exodus of the people of color and modest means from the area that has been and will be even more a tourism Mecca. He is sure his mistake with Iraq was to celebrate victory too early rather than ignoring the experts that told him we needed half a million troops to stabilize the country and prevent the Fedayeen Saddam from creating a quagmire. Even Mrs Palin refuses to accept their absurdity in picking her, a total neophyte, as a vice presidential running mate as a contributor to their loss and prefers to blame it on the media, a media controlled by the wealthy and powerful like themselves.
Is this self delusion or an attempt to delude the rest of us? Is this ignorance and incompetence or deceit and dishonesty? Evidently, some among us will follow the deceivers to the edge of the precipice and jump with no doubts in their leaders, for us that can see the bovine heard headed to their demise it would be cool to just watch them go over, the problem is… we are all in this together, and like water over a fall, we cannot avoid the precipice they are pulling us to… unless we wake up and choose to start to act rather than merely watch.

Long live planet Earth, may her consciousness overcome the delusion our leadership has imposed on itself and by proxy, us.

Peace

Jed -

That Devo reference was priceless. It’s early yet, but I think I can safely say that by nightfall I will recall that you made my day.

SO MANY STRAY TRANSMISSIONS
THERE’S NOTHING YOU CAN DO
SO MANY LIQUID RHYTHMS
THEY’D FILL A SWIMMING POOL

Yeah, same here Jed. Thanks for temporarily easing my Swelling, Itching Brain. :)

“seems like endless torture
got me pulling out my hair
driving me up the wall
dripping out my eyes ears nose and mouth
imploding my thoughts
blasting holes in the front lawn now
going outta my skull
burning up my thoughts
tearing me apart.”

Oh okay guys. Glad you took the same approach and were understanding when the company Mitt Romney hired to do his gardening had illegal aliens as some of their workers. What a joke objectivity is around here.
