… where you’re heretofore awesome metropolis starts to go to shit with fires and deteriorating infrastructure and traffic jams and, I dunno, a monster attacking.
What with today’s 7.2 percent unemployment figure, another fucking coal ash spill in Tennessee, Gaza, Russia/Ukraine, the $1.2 trillion deficit, and intra-party squabbling over the scope of Obama’s stimulus package… I think we’re pretty much right there.

That second coal ash containment spill happened in Alabama if I’m not mistaken. But the problem is much larger than you can imagine. The Christian Science Monitor has an interesting piece on the issue…

It was interesting to see congress grilling the Tennessee people for their screw up… they took the cheapest way out and got huge bonuses for it. Now they should spend some time in jail for their extreme negligence.
