Surprising results. With about 1/4 of the votes counted, Omaha is in a dead heat. It’s only one EV, but I am staggered!

Barack Obama(DEM) 42,018 49.20

Barack Obama 66,945 51.75%

And now I have the familiar feeling of being disappointed in my fellow Omahawans (though I am not a native) as well as the unfamiliar feeling of being surprised by them.

Obama takes an electoral vote from red Nebraska! Amazing!

Unfortunately they passed the stupid Initiative 424 anti-affirmative action disguised as civil rights. And Lee Terry is (by the skin of his horse-like teeth) still my &%$! Congressman. Sympathy goes out to Jim Esch, he almost pulled it off.

Oh, I should mention that Initiative 424 will not be implemented until there is a verdict from Lancaster County District judge Karen Flowers on the validity of this initiative in Nebraska. Hopefully Judge Flowers will move to preserve our state constitution from such a stupid and unnecessary modification.
