McCain Co-Chair: “I Just Don’t See How He Can Win”

10/30/08, 1:41 am EST

Now Connecticut GOP Rep. Chris Shays has his own electoral troubles… but when a McCain state co-chair says of his candidate for president “I just don’t see how he can win,” there’s trouble afoot.

And Shays didn’t stop there, saying of McCain: “He has
lost his brand as a maverick; he did not live up to his pledge to fight a clean campaign.”

Jed Clampett

Forgive me for bringing this up, but I think it bears some mention… Does it seem totally absurd to anyone else that an 8 year old child would be killed by the recoil of an automatic weapon he was firing at an event sponsored by the sheriff’s gun club?
What’s really insane is that the child already had been shooting weapons for three years. Since he was 5!!
So, a couple of weeks ago a child shows us how drugs, money and violent Mexican kidnappers can be intermingled, now this… what’s next? These things always come in threes.

Peace

has it crossed anyone elses mind that perhaps the republicans are speaking of the hopelessness of their campaign in order to marginalize the liberal voter base?

we’ve seen before what can happen when the democrats count their electoral chickens before they hatch

I can see Mavericks becoming marginalized by the year 2012 via the Republican Party from my plumbing shop in Russia

Rather than share their message and ideology with the American people, the Repubelickans would rather attack the character of their opponent, then try any means necessary to minimize the amount of opposition voters.

I have, still, yet to meet a McCain supporter that can tell me why he’s voting for McCain. Inevitabily, every single one of them use Obama as their reason. “I’m voting for McCain because Obama wants to……” Or, “I’m voting for McPalin because Obama’s going to…”

That’s not support for your candidate………In other words, they don’t even NEED a reason to vote for McCain. Their reason is: he’s not Obama.

FYI: Still haven’t seen any color in the background of any of Mccain/Palin rallies in the past couple of weeks……….Does that mean anything?

I guess not, as long as it follows the agenda.

Meltdown, I’ve seen the same kind of argument made for George W. Bush in 2004. I’ve even posted a question on my local newspaper online forum asking what are the positive reasons that you are voting for Bush. Nobody responded. They were all too busy commenting on why Kerry is such a flip-flopper and not really a war hero. I’m just glad that the American people are seeing through this BS this election cycle.

MissouriMom | 10/30/2008, 6:41 pm EST

With any luck, the Republican Party will go the way of the Whigs and Tories…

We should all be so lucky. Has there EVER been such a party of hatred and division? Not ONE good thing to say… just one string of lies and slander after another.

For the first time in my voting life, I am inspired and motivated by a decent, moral FAMILY man who really sincerely cares about America…

Finally, instead of having to choose between the lesser of two evils, I am happily voting FOR someone I admire – someone I have deep respect for – someone who clearly has more courage and fortitude than I do because I cannot stand quietly and turn the other cheek when McCain and Palin boldly lie to our faces.

I feel sorry for their supporters… they cannot say one thing positive about their candidates… every word out of their mouths starts with “Obama…”

BTW, what’s with McCain bringing up Khalidi? Is he so senile as to forget that HE (McCain) gave over $1.5 MILLION to the organization that Khalidi fronted over a 15 yr. period? There are official records that show it.

But then, you cannot teach an old dog new tricks… it’s clear to me that John McCain is a dinosaur from the previous century – he simply doesn’t understand that when you lie – there’s always youtube or some other site online with proof against you… guess no one in his campaign understood that when vetting Sarah the moosekiller.

DirtyDennis | 10/30/2008, 7:21 pm EST

Yea, someone else from Mizzou speaks out. It would be SO nice to carry this state for Obama.

DirtyDennis | 10/30/2008, 7:23 pm EST

At the lower end of the state we’ve got mobile homes with McCain/Palin signs. What could they POSSIBLY think he/they are going to do for them?

PartyCrasher | 10/30/2008, 11:44 pm EST

MissouriMom,

Sarah the Moosekiller! That`s not hateful is it?
From your adoring words describing Obama, I can tell you are a true desciple of “The One”.
A word of caution, it`s dangerous to invest so much of your personal emotion and being into a mortal man. When he disappoints you, and he will, it can do a number on your psyche. Remember, he is just a mortal.

Meltdown– Thats funny, because every Obama supporter/drone I run across says the exact same stuff…nearly everyone is voting for HIM, and that he vaguely stands for change (but they never say whether its the right kind of change, or if his changes are grounded in reality), not his policies

So the sheep flock to whichever sheperd beckons…but dont try to pawn off that only the dullards are voting for McCain, because equal, if not more numbers, are voting for Obama

Coach | 10/31/2008, 12:02 pm EST

Merk, not sure you cleared anything up, or even succeeded in defending ‘your own’.

At least Obama has given ‘his’ voters reasons TO vote for him. All McCain is doing is giving ‘his’ voters reasons to NOT vote for Obama……..

We all know by now, that you don’t like to agree with anything at all. But, to disagree for disagreement’s sake is a bit confusing. In other words, it seems that your statement actually confirms meltdown’s assertion…….

Merkwurdigliebe | 10/31/2008, 12:29 pm EST

Coach– Sure, I like to point out the absurdities of both candidates and their majority of their followers (some very smart people in my acquaintence are voting for Obama, others for McCain, for legitimate reasons), but I dont disagree for disagreements sake

you’re argument is specious as well; McCain is giving his voters a reason to vote for him, you just dont like or want to hear them, and trivialize them (say what you want, but they both have some decent points)

Note, I didnt say “vote for McCain because he’s not Obama” or vice versa, so what’s your beef? That I’m not towing your, or C Co’s party line? I’m not voting for McCain or Obama because I DISAGREE FUNDAMENTALLY WITH MOST OF THEIR POLICIES…not because I think one socializes with terrorists or that the other wants to set women’s rights back 100 years, or that I want “Change” without explaining what that means…I happen to be a free thinker who doesnt follow bs or party line, sorry

Meltdown made a point, and to keep it balanced, I played devil’s advocate and showed the other side…don’t be so stifling of debate…

Coach | 10/31/2008, 2:06 pm EST

Merk, why do you keep hounding Obama about his ‘allegedly’ fraudulent ‘change’ campaign.

15 billion a year to new energy.
Roll back tax cuts.
Spend on infrastructure.

There’s just a few of the obvious things that would ‘change’ under Obama, but you’re not willing to acknowledge those as change?

And, can we please stop accusing him of spending? If we end the monkeyphuck in Iraq, we’ll save 10 billion a month, easily enough to cover MOST of his new spending.

In other words, most of the people voting republican accuse Obama of being a ’spender’ while not acknowledging that Bush has spent more than ANYBODY EVER.

Meltdown | 10/31/2008, 2:07 pm EST

Coach, you forgot to mention that McCain would continue ALL of that Bush spending…….
