The Socialist Wears Prada

10/22/08, 2:44 pm EST

Marc Ambinder astutely observes that the while the McCain campaign might argue that Obama has “socialistic inclinations… Palin’s gotten it done.”

To wit:

Palin taxed oil company profits and cut $1200 checks for every Alaskans.

That’s spreading the wealth. Redistributing some money.

“they” the all-america good guys party gave us socialized debt and nationalize banks. they seem to be the playground bullies and gossipie old ladies with their tauntings and outragious lies…

Far-reaching prediction: Alaska recalls Governor Palin out of pure embarrassment.

Analysis? Very, very few people actually voted in the election for Governor of Alaska. After this campaign, there may be a level of embarrassment prompting many in Alaska to recall her (now that they ACTUALLY know her). That is, of course, IF they’re paying attention to this Presidential campaign…………

Careful not to fall for the distractions. There are more pressing issues facing our country at the moment than reversing the wealth redistribution. You have a media outlet controlled by a rich Australian trying to influence the election by incensing the public. A voting machine system that has been proven to be flawed and according to a program on LinkTV to be released soon, has already been compromised. A war on two fronts that is being carried out with too few troops and poor equipment. A leadership that has done everything to assist, not deter or stop the enemy.
Read UBLs declaration of war and you will see that he is wining. All his predictions are coming true because he understood his enemy and how it would react. Isn’t it time to reassess the situation in a more logical and measured way instead of following the way Fox and other major media outlets controlled by corporate interests want you to see it?

Recognize your true enemy. It wants a war, whether it’s global or just within our borders is irrelevant. War is it’s playground and only makes it stronger.

Peace

No Jed. Income inequality, progressive taxation, and monetary redistribution are so much more important than your bogus, myopic view on media bias, they’re on a different planet. The reason this country is in trouble is because, while Tim points out the price of Sarah Palin’s wardrobe, the elites in both parties are passing legislation we know nothing of, for the benefit of God knows who (certainly not the average American). That’s what people need to pay attention to. Oh, but by all means, continue to spew your useless, unintelligible hate on a stupid liberal blog everyday. What virtuous citizens you guys are… way to contribute to the greater cause…

You are so funny. You accuse me of being ‘myopic’ because I’m concerned about the things that are capable of destroying our democracy and put our people at risk and in the same sentence attempt to promote the talking false talking points the Republicans are attempting to scare the American people with.
It seems strange you didn’t rile against the ’spreading the wealth’ from the treasury to people that were already rich and didn’t need it, or the ’spreading the wealth’ from the collective nest egg to private corporations that colluded in the Iraq fiasco. How come ‘income inequality’ didn’t bother you when Bear Sterns, Leahman Brothers and AIG’s of the nation were making money like mad out of defrauding the public while at the same time enjoying tax breaks that were bankrupting us and the world?
Progressive taxation, the unequal burden of taxes across the spectrum of taxpayers, seems to only bother you when it affects those individuals that make the most rather than the least income; while at the same time your preferred political party hopes we will forget the entities that pay little to no taxes, therefore shrinking the nation’s nest egg, Monsanto, ExxonMobil, Merck and others are allowed to run amok with genetics, pollution, the public health, while at the same time avoid paying their fair share of taxes> The founding fathers expected the public to not pay taxes, but the corporations, the businesses whom generate the most wealth for themselves should pay taxes for the privilege of doing business in our nation and thereby support the infrastructure that allows them the ability to access the public’s resources and wallets. Today that concept has been turned on it’s head by corporations that invest billions on purchasing the favorable legislation that allows them to steal from the public under the veneer of legality.
Sure, those things are important, but not nearly as important as the republican party would hope to make it in order to deflect from the truly important issues and use ‘terrorism’ to distract the American people. They should be ashamed, and would be, if they had a collective conscience.

Peace

CCo,
All good causes. However in defense of Jed’s rants: Americans who think they are getting unbiased news coverage are being taken for a ride by big media who shares few of their interests. The “fourth estate” as a whole was supposed to operate independently of corporate and political interests in order to create an informed public. In this respect our media has failed us. If we do not recognize this, we are doomed to be pulled along by the nose wherever they want us to go. Surely a propaganda sniffer such as yourself would recognize the validity of such a concern.

As far as our little hobby here. I agree that its pathetic (myself included). But in this country, where we are given meaningless choices between corporate approved candidates, paper or plastic, bad or worse, we must take our speech where we can find it. Provided that we are not willing to completely drop our monetary pursuits and become activists, there are a limited number of outlets for our angst. This is just one of the few outlets remaining to us.

CCCCOooooo: (Cuckoo?) “Oh, but by all means, continue to spew your useless, unintelligible hate on a stupid liberal blog everyday.”

Sure. But, what the hell do you call THAT statement? Peace, love and joy? You’re so virtuous. You’re so rightous.

Why don’t you take your ‘useless, unintelligent, stupid statements elsewhere to your conservative blogs where you can all point the finger at liberals, blacks, mexicans, muslims, asians, etc. All while circle jerking. You’re a joke.
