Jed,
Yeah, you nailed it alright. The ISI has been playing us for fools the entire time. Of course there was ample evidence of this even back in 2001 (not to mention the Soviet/Afghanistan war).

I’m still reeling from watching ‘taxi to the dark side’ tonight. I haven’t read Rosen’s piece yet, but I will. I’m wondering how the war might be going now if we had kept the gloves on. Detainee abuse and murder certainly can’t help the battle of the hearts and minds. The echoes of this administration’s folly bring us bad karma for generations. Bush, your legacy is written.

Wow, just read Rosen’s piece… give that man a Pulitzer and a new salwar kameez that he undoubtedly must have soiled more than once. :D

I doubt any of the right’s supporters on this site will bother reading that long a report. Todays America prefers to have its news summarized to a 2 minute video presentation that supports what they already have been fed. Takes a free thinker to actually take the time to read the entire thing.
Unfortunately it confirms for me the gravity of the stupidity of the policies of this Administration and what I had already intuited of the situation in Afghanistan.

Does anyone else share my belief that Bushney decided to attack Iraq because they understood that fighting in the mountains with groups that had fought there for centuries and not been driven off would be impossible, so they went for the oil and flatlands of Iraq?

Peace

How about that, I post my comment and Tim then posts a story that supports my view. Thanks Tim.
It IS Pakistan that is de-stabilizing Afghanistan by training and funding Taliban, just like they are doing in Jammu-Kashmir and Western India.

Ask the Pakistanis or the Israelis how long it takes to make an unwanted government secure and free in the Middle East and you may get an idea of why McCain originally said we would be in Iraq 100 years.
Even a century won’t be enough to ‘pacify’ and secure the region, unless you act like Saddam and kill anyone who opposes you. Is McCain willing to kill everyone there to make it peaceful? Is he willing to employ Saddam’s tactics?
Perhaps you can’t kill people into submission, will America’s leadership ever learn that? Not likely if we keep allowing them to spend more money on weaponry than diplomacy and education.
Wake up folks, all these mistakes can’t be accidental. Neither is the drive to make weapons remote controlled.

Peace
