Quote of the Day: McCain on McCain

10/7/08, 4:55 pm EST

I would be held to a higher standard…. I was especially obligated not to disguise my own selfishness as counterfeit patriotism….

For the politician who promises to put patriotism before selfishness, who promises not to lie, and then renenges, does more harm to the public trust than does the politician who makes no issue of his virtue.

– John McCain, Worth the Fighting For, Chapter 12, “Straight Talk,” page 379

Is that anything like picking Palin for his VP even though she has nil experience in anything but running a small Alaska town into a $20 million deficit? How does such a small town overspend $20 million in a state where everyone, except the enuit, gets $2000+ a year for free?
Was McCain’s pick a politically motivated choice to capitalize on the female voters that would have voted for Mrs. Clinton days after saying that Sen Obama picking her as running mate would be a purely politically motivated move?

Hypocrisy 101, can you spot the bullsh*tter?

Jed,
You may have forgotten that Palin was also chosen to help firm up the critical evangelical vote. I have a feeling she’s more effective at that than fooling the female voters. Otherwise, exactly right! Now Johnny is stooping to even lower depths of desperation and false populism. This as he abandons all his ‘maverick’ positions and shifts his policy prescriptions to fit the Republican template. He is the very definition of Hypocrisy.

Is that anything like picking Joe Biden for his VP even though he has nil experience in anything but getting himself elected for 35 years? How does such an unctuous creep lie over and over again and still get himself elected to the Big Council of Eskimo Honchos? Was BO’s pick a politically motivated choice to capitalize on the female voters that would have voted for Mr. Jewliani days adter saying that Sen McNasty picking his nose would be a purely politically motivated move?

Musicology 101, Mr. Bojangles.

I couldn’t agree more with both of your posts (Jed and TinFoilHat). She was selected only because she’s a woman and can garner the evangelical vote. She obviously wasn’t properly vetted.

Tajed,
Is that you Jed? A bit vaclempt? Yeah, Joe’s a bit of a slime, interesting how Obama used the example of credit card companies moving to Delaware because of the lax laws. Hmm, who do we have to thank for that?

I think that Obama was looking for an establishment veep to lend his ticket establishment cred. I suppose he could have done worse.

na, wasn’t me. Though I don’t trust Joe much either.

I don’t use credit cards because I can read the fine print on the contracts. When a company can raise your interest rates to 25% or so on a whim, I realize it is legalized usury. Loan sharking used to be illegal, but I guess when the gangsters take over government, anything can be legalized, even indirect murder.

Peace
