Palin: Foe of Polar Bears

8/29/08, 4:03 pm EST

In the “didya know?” category: Palin recently sued the federal government to de-list the “very healthy” polar bear from its new “threatened” designation under the Endangered Species Act.

She also justifies drilling in ANWR because the drilling footprint would be “smaller than LAX.”

Ted Stevens + Sarah Palin + youtube = Obama wins without trying

If you want to make enemy countries rich by purchasing their oil because you don’t want to drill in Anwar, then by all means. You can’t have your cake and eat it too.

Polar Bears are dying off because of drilling for oil??
Oh Come Now..
Next Think you know you’ll be saying there is a hole in the ozone layer or we’re about to cause some global climate change,, you know, global ice age or global warming, take your pick.
No what I think is happening is a growth in the Global Idiots population..

If you build a pipe line the caribou will die..
Didn’t happen did it??
Nope, a direct opposite happened.
Were not right then, and the time before, and the time before that,, so why in the hell should I believe a damn word you folks say?

Ah Wild Thingie, you make one SO tired. Do you actually believe this is about bears, caribou or spotted owls? Big businesses have ALWAYS gotten what they want because we have the best politicians money can b-u-y. So, they strip mine West Virginia and cut down every living thing in the NorthWest and trample everything getting there and back. And they pack up and leave devestation behind.

In response, ‘we’ (although much as I’d love to I can’t count myself among them, but you DID use the perjorative ‘you’) used the only tools available, the threat of extinction, the very REAL threat of extinction, to a species.

And if it wasn’t for those folks who care about something other than their own creature comfort, your ‘delta’ would be a cesspool and it would be asphalt from stinking sea to stinking sea.

Boy, Delta must’ve had a Deliverance moment recently. Dude’s gone off the deep end. Delta’s comments are typical human pompousness in its finest form.

Hey Delta, I have an experiment involving co2 emissions for you: Drive your car into your garage, keep it running, shut the door, and sit there.

That’s what more oil does……

PartyCrasher | 9/1/2008, 1:35 pm EST

DD,

The Polar Bear population has been steadily going up in the last thirty years or so. So how are they endangered? They actually thrive around humans.

It`s a ploy by environmentalist radical to stop drilling.

DirtyDennis | 9/1/2008, 6:48 pm EST

Forgive me PC. I never meant to imply that the Polar Bears were in danger or that they were a good excuse for NOT drilling. I have other reasons for not drilling, but they have nothing to do with the environmental impact. That said, I believe we need to keep the Oil Baron’s feet close to the fire ALWAYS. Remember, it’s OUR land, not some oil companys.

The Polar Bears are fine (I wonder why? Couldn’t be the protection we’ve given them. But, if you think there’s ANY truth to global change, then the little buggers are NOT, in fact, ‘fine’) so they’re not an excuse to drill. The excuse NOT to drill is that someday we’ll going to really, REALLY need that oil. Not for gasoline, but for all the other chemical products derived. We need to hang on to what we’ve got. If we’re going to pass on an incredible debt to our ancestors, the very least we can do is leave them some resources. Like trees. Like Polar Bears.

Man’s imprint on the planet, vis a vis drilling for oil, is like that of an HIV mosquito biting someone. The bite doesn’t hurt, barely breaks the skin, but the disease carried by it infects the beast and kills it.

Generations from now I expect we’ll be extracting ‘energy’ from deep within this planet’s surface. The oil we can use to lubricrate slides for the Polar Bears. Perhaps I’ll come back as a Polar Bear then so I can enjoy the play. Or maul a Con.

DirtyDennis | 9/1/2008, 6:51 pm EST

Whoa? What? The Polar Bears THRIVE around people. Please do explain. Polar Bears are in the artic. If they’re ‘thriving’ around people it’s ’cause they’re eating our garbage and we’re making them dependent upon our ‘refuse’ for their survival. Not a good thing, PC, not a good thing.
