Paris, Britney and the Low-Information Voter

I’ve been doing my best to ignore the McCain/Britney ad — yet it has wormed its way into my August beach vacation.

And that may just be its brilliance. It’s a crap ad. And yet. It’s the biggest ad of the season, by far. And even as it has been roundly denounced as trash, it has made the rounds of TMZ, ET and the like… bringing the attack to the “low information voters” who are alleged to hold the keys to the Oval Office in 2008.

As was so gleefully pointed out on The Daily Show last night, Ms. Hilton’s parents gave the max amount allowed in donations to the McSame campaign, only to see him take a public dump on their daughter in a national ad they helped pay for. Now, that’s the way to win a race. m

The biggest swing voter block is the low information voters. They are the ones who voted George W. into office twice. They will no doubt swallow hook and line the points made in McCain’s insipid ads: Obama = Britney & Paris and Obama is against the poor, struggling oil companies who want to help America by drilling for more oil on and off our shores. Which would obviously would reduce oil prices immediately.

The information is out there, but for some reason they don’t look for it. I guess it’s that old expression: You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make him drink.
