George W. Bush: Polluting Like a Rock Star

7/10/08, 1:57 pm EST

A scene from the G8 summit in Japan. We’re not making this up.

The American leader, who has been condemned throughout his presidency for failing to tackle climate change, ended a private meeting with the words: “Goodbye from the world’s biggest polluter.”

He then punched the air while grinning widely, as the rest of those present including Gordon Brown and Nicolas Sarkozy looked on in shock.

Oh, and not making this up either:

Mr Bush also faced criticism at the summit after Silvio Berlusconi, the Italian Prime Minister, was described in the White House press pack given to journalists as one of the “most controversial leaders in the history of a country known for government corruption and vice”.

The White House apologised for what it called “sloppy work” and said an official had simply lifted the characterisation from the internet without reading it.

AMERICA’S SHADY AGE OF POLITICAL CORRECTNESS

America’s Shady Age of Treasonous Tyrannical Political Correctness is over; it is the dawn of the Sunny Age of Patriotic Revolutionary Political Bluntness.

America’s Christian Culture and Constitutional Rule shall be restored in course of the ongoing Cultural War, by whatever Constitutional means necessary.

OleHippieChick | 7/10/2008, 5:32 pm EST

You forgot the part where the Oaf of Office gave the G8 the two-fingered salute, and whispered to himself, “Nailed it! Naaailed it!!!”

davie | 7/10/2008, 5:33 pm EST

Well, well, well.

Isn’t THAT calling the kettle black.

Bush needs to take his arrogant ass back to Texas.

“But wow! This goofy child president we have on our hands now. He is demonstrably a fool and a failure, and this is only the summer of ‘03.”

They ridiculed him when he wrote it, but doesn’t it ring a bell in light of the G8 shenanigans?

Max | 7/11/2008, 4:43 am EST

It is a pity that the White House had to apologise for probably the only truthful statement to come out of the G8 summit.

TheDude | 7/11/2008, 11:26 am EST

@Juegensen: The United States of Amerca is not and has never been a Christian nation. The Founding Fathers were either agnostic, atheistic, or Deists. Know your facts and stop shoving religion into government.

Reminder: Electric cars, ironically hitting the market as soon as Shrub leaves office, are fully functional, completely safe, hold enough power, and travel a distance of 200 miles on a charge.

No need to worry about any infrastructure, unless you drive more than 200 miles a day. Then, all you need to do is plug it into a normal outlet for 10 minutes.

Zero emissions
Zero oil
Zero terrorist oil
Zero fuel middle-man.

wendy | 7/11/2008, 7:38 pm EST

he should be court jester instead of
prez..but I think you have to be somewhat
smart to be court jester..

he also greeted the Italian prez with
“Hello..AMIGO”…not making that up either

DirtyDennis | 7/11/2008, 8:58 pm EST

Dude,

Please enumerate the ‘founding fathers’ that were agnostic, atheists or deists? Adams? No. Jefferson? No. Madison? No. Hamilton? No. Unless memory fails me, and it often does, they were mostly Christians. But they were ENLIGHTENED Christians, a vanishing breed nowadays, it would seem.

Reality,

And when 50K of those electric cars journey home one hot August night in the LA Basin, and they all flip on their chargers, then ratchet up the air conditions and pop open the fridge for a drink, what happens then? There are NO simple solutions. I’ll grant you that electric cars are a big step in the right direction but that are not a panacea. Things are going to get worse before they get better.

And am I the only one amazed at the G8 ‘promised’ to reduce emissions by 50% by 2050? The last I heard, if we don’t reduce emissions by 50% by 2020, we’re screwed and may as well throw in the towel. By then the balance will be tipped irrevocably. I guess that little nugget slipped past TD. He’s more interested in, of all things, the campaign, while Bush fiddles and the planet burns. And the media, why they ALL

This just in, the U.S. Court of Appeals has just ruled the Bush Administration’s meager efforts at clean air as ‘exceeding their authority.’ Why didn’t the court rule that Bushney exceeded their authority when it came to Afghanistan, Iraq, the economy and the Patriot Act. Why the EPA? Rhetorical question.

Dominic Savedra | 7/12/2008, 1:12 am EST

First off, why don’t you ‘enlightened ones’ use your real names when offering up disparaging remarks about our country’s president.

Secondly, put the bong(s) down, puff out your smoke, get a bit sober before you start your rant(s).

Third, the founding father’s were not “enlightened”. They didn’t attend or subscribe to the illuminarian ways of Europe. That’s why they left. Read for once for God’s sake.

Finally, it sure is nice to have such a wonderful country where we have so much freedom of expression and EVERYONE is entitled to speak ridiculous drivel.

Good luck and Godspeed to all of you who think George W. Bush was a complete idiot and B. HUSSEIN OBAMA is a saviour. Please.

PS –
It’s okay to put the bong(s) down now folks.

Mark | 7/12/2008, 2:08 am EST

George Bush suffers from “sms” short man syndrome. The biggest joke of a president ever. Nixon had more ethics.

Mark Smith | 7/12/2008, 2:27 am EST

Who is a patriot? Were the Germans who followed Hitler patriots? It seems fascists like to paint themselves as the only true patriots.

DirtyDennis | 7/12/2008, 8:08 am EST

Dommie,

I’m sorry if I used an oblique reference to the Age of Enlightenment that eluded you.

I find it hard to understand your claim that the founding fathers ‘left’ an ‘enlightened’ Europe, hope of the feudal system and colonial exploitation, given the following:

John Adams, born Braintree, MA
Thomas Jefferson, born Albemarle, VA
James Madison, born Port Conway, VA
Alexander Hamilton, born Nevis, Lesser Antilles

I believe you have a little drivel hanging off your lower lip.

Reality | 7/12/2008, 2:46 pm EST

Dennis: That’s why you retrofit and upgrade the power plants, rather than every single individual gas station. Think about it. It’s about the equivalent of turning on 5 lightbulbs in your house.

Also, why so ‘alarmist’?? Why is everybody so alarmist about going to electric cars, but not alarmist about umpteen million tailpipes emitting co2??????

Upgrade the power plants with solar, wind, and hydro to accomodate the electric cars. (It’s okay to build thousands of new homes that take power from the grid, but not okay to bring in electric cars Dennis???) Besides that, if you don’t want the electric car, don’t freakin’ b_uy one. But, my point is this: Give us a freakin choice. Enough of the combustible engine being the only choice. And, hybrid? Kiss my arse. ELIMINATE THE FUEL MIDDLE MAN!

DirtyDennis | 7/12/2008, 6:09 pm EST

Reality,

I’m all for it. It IS the future and we may as well head that way now. I’m merely calling up the law of unintended consequences for purposes of discussion. That IS why we come here? Right?

We could probably get there quicker and easier if the subsidies presently given to the oil industry were applied towards electric cars. Have you heard BHO touting that concept? Me neither. And we sure as HAIL know where Johnny Boy’s gonna come down on the subject.

I moved to ‘Rural America’ to get away from the noise. I’m all for the hummmmm of electric cars.

cb | 7/12/2008, 11:56 pm EST

confused a bit. china and india are not included in the Kyoto deal, right? European countries can grossly overpay to retrofit another countries factory rather than their own, right? Only France had lowered its CO2 emissions more than the US since Kyoto, right? If someone can get back to me on these I’d appreciate it.

Coach | 7/13/2008, 11:12 am EST

db: Check out Germany, and the European Union.

Also, for those of you who cite the ineffectiveness of the kyoto protocol and united nations, how do you expect anything to be successful if the global superpower (U.S.) isn’t involved?

Coach | 7/13/2008, 11:16 am EST

Dominic: Are you saying George W. Bush ISN’T an idiot? I’d rather take bonghits than be a blind-faith worshiper of a complete fraud that was moved along through life by his daddy all the while failing at everything he did.

So, YES, GWB IS AN IDIOT. Freedom’s great isn’t it?
As bar as ‘B. HUSSEIN OBAMA’ goes, nice try on the subliminal ‘HUSSEIN’ reference. Who gives a chit what his name is? It’s just a noise people make when trying to reference someone or get their attention, you childish moron.

Compact-fluorescent light bulbs CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS!!!

Read:

Mercu ry leaks found as new bulbs break–The Boston Globe.

…Even cleaning-up the dust from a broken bulb is very dangerous…

Consider here how The Wall Street Journal reported that carbon monoxide, particulate, and sulfur dioxide emissions have been greatly reduced here in the US–since 1970; “All of this has been accomplished despite a doubling of the number of cars on the road and a near tripling of the numbe rof miles driven …”

Yet, another WSJ article states how “A significant portion of China’s air pollution can be traced directly to the production of goods that are exported. In the city of Shenshen, a major industrial base in southern China, about 89% of emissions of sulfur dioxide, an air pollutant that causes acid rain, are released in the process of export manufacturing … The study also found 71% of particulate matter, the small particles that cause smog and respiratory problems, can be traced to the manufacturing of exported goods.”–China shifts pollution fight, Jane Spencer, 11/01/07.

Another WSJ article, Invisible Export–A Hidden Cost of China’s Growth: Mecury Migration (12/20/04), reads: Mercury and other pollutants from China’s more than 2,000 coal-fired power plants soar high into the atmosphere and around the globe … The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency recently reported that a third of the country’s lakes and nearly a quarter of its rivers are now so polluted with mercury that children and women are advised to limit or avoid eating fish caught there … Some scientists now say 30% or more of the mercury settling into U.S. ground soil and waterways comes from other countries–in particular, China.”

Note: Greenpeace and The Sierra Club have links to inexpensive mercury testing kits…

Of course, Obama and McCain are huge advocates of coal…

Good Reads:

The Dirty Truth About Clean Coal–BusinessWeek,

Real Solutions for Reducing Carbon Emissions, Rain Forest Action Network,

King Coal’s Latest Con Job, Clean Coal is Not Clean–CounterPunch,

Nader opposes nuclear, coal, oil energy, supports wind, solar–Corsswalk

Note: Colossal Magnetic Levitation Wind Turbine = $.01 per kilowatt hour (its low-center-of-gravity = perfect for offshore windfarms = unlimited potential).

Hemp is an environmentally safe source of Ethanol, and it could easily replace oil and coal in power plants (with oil there would be no need to modify the plant), yet, while 100% ethanol burns pure, when mixed with gasoline (E85) for cars, this actually causes more pollution.

Read:

Ethanol vehicles pose significant risk to health, new study finds–Stanford Study, Stanford News Service, 04/18/07.

Furthermore, though “…Toyota Chief Executive Katsuaki Watanabe confirmed to BusinessWeek that the company would put high-capacity lithium-ion batteries in the third-generation Prius, due toward the end of 2008 or early 2009,” don’t hold your breath…

…Consider how the lithium-ion battery was the subject of a massive recall by Sony–only because of contamination due to a faulty (cheaper) manufacturing process… Part of the Murder the Electric Car conspiracy!!!

Note: The Tesla Roadster already uses lithium-ion batteries.

According to Wikipedia–Electric Vehicles, the lithium-ion batteries take merely minutes (instead of hours) to recharge, and a charge goes as far as a tank of gas.

…How difficult to make a battery pack that can be changed at a service station, or a small emergency battery pack that a service truck could bring…???

Finally, considerally how George W. Bush never actually won a presidential election: See The United States Commision on Civil Rights Report on the Irregularities of the 2000 Presidential Election, and the Rolling Stone Magazine article Was the 2004 Election Stolen?

THEN COMPLAIN TO THE UN ABOUT OUR CORRUPT ELECTION PROCESS: 1503@ohchr.org

Wow, not too much about Georgie Porgie, but interesting read. Tnx Michael.

Could Bush be a ‘plant’ by some diabolical consortium (Spectre? OPEC? NATO? OAS? Bin Laden family?) to destroy this country’s economy? Twould certainly seen to be ample evidence to support such a claim.

O’M'God, it’s the Cons. Why, you ask would they seemingly shoot them ownselves in the foot? Why, so they can blame it on someone else (blacks, latinos, jews, catholics, asians, gays, liberals, all of the above).

Our battle-hardened troops will return for Iraq and Afghanistan and begin rounding up the miscreants and resettling them in camps east of Wendover, Utah, for ‘reeducating.’ Waterboarding said to be Reeducation 101.

Like Buck Turgenson in “Dr. Strangelove,” they will admit that they might, “… get their hair a little mussed,” but when the dust settled, they would prevail.

Okay, Okay, so I’m bored? So what?

Gee that really makes you feel good about our government’s A Team vis-a-vis foreign policy. Makes you hopeful that your children could work in the white house some day too!!!!

Just so long as your children are home-schooled, faith-based, Darwin haters who regard sex and rational thought as twin outgrowths of the devil.

No wonder Bush has been such a failure. He’s got these rhesus monkeys telling him what to do.

God probably wishes all these idiots had been aborted. And I’m with Him.

Amen.

Just a bit impatient with the mouse button? I wonder how you got it to accept so many equal copies of the same post.

In response to Hello……Bush has been such a failure because he is a double digit IQ idiot and that’s being generous. He is not a failure because he surrounds himself with people whose only agenda is to enrich the rich he’s a failure because that’s what he is, a failure. How simple is that?

Note to Coach Re: Dominic’s post about ‘B. HUSSEIN OBAMA’ – He stole that moniker from Ann Coulter, the goddess of over-the-top right-wing nut jobs. She always refers to Obama as such.
