Edwards To Endorse Obama?

5/14/08, 5:19 pm EST

If it’s true, I think that’s checkmate.

UPDATE:
True and truly checkmate.

I’m reminded of what a class act Edwards is. After all we’ve been through, he could have rightly said to Hillary, “Don’t let the door hit you on the way out.” But, instead, he spent the first five minutes of his speech praising her boldness and her persistence, reaching out to her supporters and otherwise doing damnest to kickstart party reunification. As someone who positioned himself as the candidate of blue collar America and the candidate of change, Edwards is in a unique position right now to help glue the Democratic party back together again.

And his stamp on the Obama platform just got even more pronounced. After successfully pushing Obama to embrace universal healthcare and uncompromised global warming targets, he’s got him on board with a commitment to halve poverty in America in the next ten years.

DD, I feel your pain…I drop a nuclear bomb on the haters and for some odd reason they take their rage out on you?

Jed Clampett

see, you missed the point, the substance doesn’t matter one bit, what matters to him is the lable. and if the devil wears the right suit, it’s just fine with him. As long as the suit is the right kind.

DirtyDennis | 5/16/2008, 7:26 pm EST

Coach,

You miss my perspective. If Hillary ran as a GOP, I wouldn’t vote for her. If Obama ran as a GOP I wouldn’t vote for him.

I don’t put TOO much emphasis on voting records. There are all kinds of reasons for things like that. Clinton IS from a state with a strong conservative area (upstate) so her votes could reflect that.

I checked one site that said Obama was the most liberal in ‘07 and Clinton was #16. In the past she HAS ’slipped’ into the 30s, but also has been #8.

No matter, the Cons hate her, that makes her AOkay in my book.

Coach | 5/16/2008, 7:12 pm EST

DD, you DO realize that she USED to be a Con, right? You DO realize that her campaign mirrored that of a Con, right? It’s not a bias issue, it’s a failure issue. She failed in her campaign. Just like you said about Obama getting more well known during this campaign, so has HRC in a negative way. It’s nobody’s fault but her own. Her voting record and campaign are more con than dem.

DirtyDennis | 5/16/2008, 1:41 pm EST

PS One can’t help but think this is more about egos than it is about philosophy.

PSS Get ready for a raft of hits. I’ve got your back but fear I’ve been bloodied too much to be of much assistance. I can always yell, “Look Out!!”

“LOOK OUT!!”

DirtyDennis | 5/16/2008, 1:39 pm EST

Bravo Trevor. Anyone but a Con.

Trevor Ritchie | 5/16/2008, 1:25 pm EST

Rolling Stone Magazine, you should be utterly ashamed of yourself. There used to be a time where the political commentators working for this magazine would support ALL democrats, no matter how conservative or liberal they were, so long as it would help stop republicans. I’m disappointed that you’ve decided that Hillary Clinton is no longer worthy of your support, even though she is still a democrat.
I’ve no complaints against your siding with Barack Obama; his message is inspiring and worthy of getting him elected. But to sit here and continually trash on a fellow democratic senator who is doing her best to eliminate the same problems senator Obama is trying to eliminate is insane. Its time to start trying to report objectively, instead of destroying senator Clinton and shattering the Democratic Party.
Oh well, this won’t get posted anyways, Pro-Clinton or even neutral posts would be too damaging to Obama to be allowed

In case you are interested in perusing the documents released by the british Ministry of Defense…

ufos.nationalarc hives.gov.uk/

only a few at a time will be released, I imagine to keep traffic down and to remove any docs that have irrefutable evidence of something they don’t want you to know.

Personally, I love that the primary has gone on this long and that Billary is exposing it’self as it is. I thought at one time she may be VP or perhaps have a chance at the next election, but she’s self destructing in such a way that I don’t think the american public will forget. Besides, she helps expose the duplicity of those holding all the cards and control of the economy and politics.
Sen Obama has proven himself the better person, never mind candidate, by maintaining a certain civility in light of all the BS. The american public has responded well to this and it gives me reason for hope.
Like coach says… let it go all the way to the convention. It will keep McLame flip-flopping alone like a fish out of water as he is currently doing. Does anyone believe him when he pronounces his committment to the environment? I seem to remember Bushney doing the very same thing in the debates against AL GORE. We see where those lies got us.

BTW - did the energy task force ever meet once the plans for Iraq invasion were established? Seems odd that given the energy crisis we are experiencing, there are no more task forces convened. Just something else that should make you go… hmmmm!!!

DirtyDennis | 5/15/2008, 2:19 pm EST

Coach,

I think you can make the case that Obama is a better candidate for the ‘abuse,’ minimal as it’s been, he’s taken.

Moreover, the country has had a chance to see him more. That’s what he needs, lots of exposure. I still don’t think he has a chance, but November’s a LONG ways off.

I think voting America is still more ready for Hillary than it is for Barack. We’ll see how it unfolds in November.

West Virginia in the house!!!
Nice going troll, must be one of those ‘working class’, ‘low income’, ‘poorly educated’ folks that are the HRC base. she must be so proud to have that kind of following to the white house. GWB must be so proud.

Coach | 5/15/2008, 2:08 pm EST

Here we go again Dennis……

You think Hillary is playing fair? Trying to get the Michigan and Florida vote counts into the mix is not fair, is it?

Bottom line is this: She is running a campaign based on deception/lies/ and innuendo. Her own campaign is the reason for her failure. Yes, I said it. Failure. She had a huge lead and that huge lead has continually vanished. Now the ONLY chance she has is for the superdelegates to nominate her. I’m not telling her to drop out, contrary to what you’re accusing me of. I think she SHOULD stay in, if only to delay the Repukes’ campaign/smear. But, she better drop the divisiveness, that’s for damn sure. And the lies. And the innuendo. It’s over.

Obama 08

DirtyDennis | 5/15/2008, 1:57 pm EST

Coach,

Does Obama have enough delegates to win now? No. So, in your ‘game,’ if you’re trailing towards the end, you quit. That’s one of the reasons I admire Clinton. She doesn’t quit. You have to beat her, fair and square. What used to be called the American way.

As to the early stages of the campaign, Obama NOT ‘quitting’ is exactly why Clinto should not now either.

And my question was not directed at the ‘political pundits.’ It was directed at you. Would YOU quit now? Would YOU have Obama quit if the roles were reversed. Methinks not.

Billy Mitchell | 5/15/2008, 1:30 pm EST

Can we please get a kill screen for the troll

BARACK HUSSAIN OSAMA | 5/15/2008, 1:10 pm EST

BARACK HUSSAIN OBAMA CONTINUES TO BE A THREAT TO NATIONAL MATURITY!

IF YOU VOTE OBAMA YOU WILL HELP THE NEO CONS WIN THE WHITE HOUSE! CHANGE YOU CAN COUNT ON!

IF YOU VOTE OBAMA YOU WILL HELP THE NEO CONS STACK THE U.S SUPREAM COURT WITH NEO CON JUDGES FOR THE NEXT 20 YEARS! CHANGE YOU CAN COUNT ON!

OBAMA IS AN EXTREAMEST JUST LIKE HIS NATION OF ISLAM CHEERLEADER PRIEST!

ONLY HILLARY CAN TAKE BACK OUR DEAR WHITE HOUSE!

VOTE TO WIN THINK!

Coach | 5/15/2008, 12:15 pm EST

Keep hangin’ in there DirtyOne/McAuliffe…….

P S: If you recall, when this campaign began and HRC had a huge superdelgate lead, the MSM was wondering why Obama should even campaign. So, YES, if the tables were turned, people WOULD ask Obama to leave.

And, YES it’s over. She has no possible chance of winning more delegates than Obama. Period. So, she’s going to hang onto the ‘elitist’ chance in hell? Superdelegates? Give me a freakin break.

The ONLY advantage to everyone involved in this campaign, and by her sticking around, is the Repukes don’t get a chance to campaign against anybody. Their spin/smear/BS tour can’t get off the ground yet, and will only have a couple of months of ‘marketing’. That’s a good thing for the Dem party……So, keep dragging on HRC. Keep the fight. Fixius

DirtyDennis | 5/15/2008, 11:36 am EST

I say again, if Obama were in a similar situation, would you be saying quit? Methinks not.

Tomdispatch dot com has an excellent piece today.

Jed Clampett

Perhaps she’s waiting for ‘the hand of God’ to help her save her $20 million investment, at this point, probably waiting to see if ‘a shot rings out, in the memphis sky’

Funny you should say… ‘whistling in the graveyard’ have you looked at the state of our world objectively lately? What exactly are we doing to ourselves. Is this world the graveyard you mention?
Do we really wan’t more of the same BS campaining that promises action to solve our problems then delivers only to their largest contributors? When GWB was debating Al Gore he negated Gore’s more popular stance on the environment by proclaiming himself the environmental candidate and touting some superficial gains made in texas. I guess we merely have to look at the state of affairs today to realize the dangers of accepting a bold faced lie without indepth consideration, or even a modicum of common sense.

On a odd note… britain this week has released papers admiting to a cover up of unidentified and unbelievable activity by objects of unknown origin and the vatican has accepted that if there are ET’s, they are our brothers and should be accepted as such. HMMMM! when the people who perpetrated genocide on the continent that had achieved an almost utopian ideal tell me Extra Terrestials are their brothers, I realize the opposite has to be the truth and understand clearly now why they so often say one thing yet do the opposite.
Time for an objective self analysis anyone?

BurnDaddy | 5/15/2008, 10:03 am EST

Don’t forget about another game we hard-working Americans play.

Eat or Drive.

Kind of a $hitty game, but definitely not elitist.

FaceTheMusic | 5/15/2008, 8:23 am EST

“What kind of person would she be if she quit?”

Answer: A realist (what we need in a Prez).

And the band played on…

DirtyDennis | 5/15/2008, 7:36 am EST

TD,

It’s the 7th inning and HRC is trailing. What kind of person would she be if she quit? Would you ask BHO to do so if the roles were reversed? Let’s try for a little bit more objectivity and perspective.

If HRC did quit, and that’s what it would be ’cause she hasn’t lost, then she’d be letting down all the people who supported her with votes and $$$.

You show me a superdelgate who state he/she wouldn’t switch back to HRC under special circumstances and I’ll show you a liar.

Understand, this is NOT over. You’re whistling in the graveyard.

Sign of the apocalypse is upon us: ANYONE caring if BHO wears a flag pin, which, coincidently, Bushney, who has single-handedly put the 21st Century into reverse, wears to bed.

David... | 5/14/2008, 7:24 pm EST

Yeah, Rich.

Could even be “checkers.”

King me.

LOL!!!

Rich | 5/14/2008, 7:09 pm EST

Chess is an elitist game, you know. ;-) If you want this post to appeal to “hard working Americans” maybe you should say “Yahtzee!” or “Plinko!”

Shaw | 5/14/2008, 6:45 pm EST
