Had to be done. Time to move on.

man, that had to be difficult. But not as difficult as watching the reverend loose his reverence and sanity.
What I do see however, is a candidate willing to distance himself from the absurdities of a man, regardless of the support he would give to a campaign. Now if we could get McCain to do the same with Hagee and Rove… hell, aren’t there plenty of poiticians who should condemn the psychotic among them?

Finally, I hope we can now start talking about the future of this country, even though I am afraid the right wing will find some other despicable nonsense to focus on.

Voters latch on to gossip like Wright & then wonder why their mortgages are messed up later on

There! Are you happy now? The pundits have officially beat a non-issue into the ground to an extent which has set back all meaningful political discourse at least 4 more years. Bury it with a shovel, bury the shovel, and let’s move on.

Does anyone have links where I can see what Wright said this week, or at least a transcript? I want to hear what he said straight from the horse’s mouth, as well as Obama’s full response.

Regardless of BO’s relationship with Wright, I think it’s safe to say that we should all be a little suspicious of anything that comes out of the NAACP going forward.

Just a thought… some of you may not appreciate, but needs to be mentioned.
Given the recent revelatios that one of HRCs ardent supporters was one of the organizers of the recent stage given to Mr. Wright, and the apparent longstanding relationship between the pastor and said lady. is it possible that we have just seen what happens to a candidate when he’s been put in a precarious position by someone he trusted and refused to pay up and be a victim of blackmail.
DirtyDennis | 4/30/2008, 10:10 am EST
Am I the only one troubled when I read that the U.S. military reports ‘X’ number of insurgents killed? How do they know if a dead person is an insurgent? They have tatoos? Given that I grew up in the ‘body count’ era of Viet Nam I have a healthy skepticism vis a vis military battlefield reports.
Why aren’t the war, global weather and the economy the center pieces of campaign rhetoric?
I’m just finishing up “Plan of Attack.” Shouldn’t collossal (?) hubris/stupidity be grounds for impeachment?
This country has gone to Hades in a Handbasket.

No you aren’t the only one who has lost all faith in the veracity of our intelligence and military services. When they are supporting a president that is evidently unobstructed by documents as ‘quaint’ and ‘outdated’ as the constitution, and knowing that a military man must refuse to follow an unlawful order and have failed to respond accordingly time and again, one has to be concerned about how they will react when eventually they are loosed upon their own teeming masses demanding redress.
This issue gets the coverage it does because the people who control the money, and thereby the media and the national discourse, don’t want real issues to see the light of day. When you listen to the last couple of sentences of Sen Obama’s race speech he talks about the reasons we are in the predicament we are in. He lays blame right at the feet of corporate america and it’s penchant for destroying democratic institutions. He’s done so on a couple of ocassions, that makes them want to destroy him as they do anything else that stands in their way.
There have been plenty of grounds for impeachment, particularly, interjecting themselves in ongoing judicial cases, corrupting federally produced information, shutting up the countrys scientific establishment through coercive means, ignoring ratified international laws and treaties… etc. etc. The only reason it isn’t being made an issue is because the Dems don’t have any balls and too much invested in the corporations that own us.

Have you noticed that the RNC is going after Barak full bore? they are ignoring HRC completely, it’s almost as if they are trying to help her become the democratic nominee, not so much because they think they can beat her, but because it won’t be so bad for them if she actually becomes president… she’s one of them anyways.
Corpotocracy be damned!!!

The Enemy Below, you are correct, the GOP definitely need to divorce James Dobson and Pat Robertson and the other knuckleheads. As for Fred Phelps and his clan of nutjobs, they prefer Al Gore to the GOP, or at least they did back in 1988 when they held a fundraiser at their home for Gore’s Senate campaign.
As for Wright, I’m surprised that the conspiracy theorists haven’t come out claiming that the GOP has paid him to make these outrageous (and quite pathetic claims) in order to dash Obama’s campaign. I mean think about it, if you really think they can blow up the Twin Towers and the Pentagon on national television, surely this wouldn’t be too far of a stretch.
Personally, I think the guy is an egomaniac that is enjoying all the media attention he is getting. This is typical of the Farrakhan’s, Jesse Jackson’s, and Sharpton’s of the world. They are false prophets that are concerned about their own self-interest rather than those of their community, church, etc.
BurnDaddy | 5/1/2008, 12:24 am EST
Maybe Wright made such a spectacle of himself to give Obama a reason to completely disavow him. I just hope we’ve heard the last from Wright.

Wow, the DC madam ‘committed suicide’ today. I wonder what well placed political figure had her murdered. What this says, is that the bureaucrats see their positions of power threatened, they are willing to derail a presidential candidate over comments someone who is loosely connected to him has made. Now an official understands that she was going to cooperate with the government to try and reduce her time and they had her killed. This does not bode well for the rest of us.
HRC appeared on the factor last night. While you might expect O’really, the bulldog, to go after her doggedly and put her on the spot and make things difficult for her, he actually treated her with kid gloves, even better than wallace treated her husband. Just the fact that FOX is supporting her and being so kind to her is all I need to know to understand where she’s coming from.
A vote for Clinton is a vote for more of the same exploitation by the oligarchy. don’t be fooled america, we can see who the elitits actually are and why they are that way. can’t you?

i think this will cost obama the nomination. forget indiana, he will be lucky if he holds n.carolina now. even a small win will be spun as a loss by the media to keep this thing alive.
why though did this wright thing only erupt recently. some outlets had mentioned it soon after obama announced his candidacy but it never took hold.

because after a 15 months of searching, all they could come up with it this thing with no substance, so they amplified it and marketed it and made sure it ruined the candidates chances. If he has been mortally wounded, he should use his money to do exactly what they do… smear and stain them, but instead of using a traitor passing himself off as reacher, he should use their record in politics and how they scratch each others backs while they shaft the populace without even the benefit of vaseline. Just look at our healthcare system, our economy, the energy sector, education, all screwed up because of people willing to do anything and say anything to get access to the treasury to raid it and to make laws to make it harder for the common man to get ahead and give the already filthy rich more breaks and benefits to level the playing field. Only sen Obama would get the ball mving in the right direction and help set the tone to actually get decent legislation out of washington, instead of tax breaks and loopholes for people that don’t need it. HRC and Sen McCain would be a return to the same ole rich guy helping rich guy game.

Can someone please tell me what was so wrog about what Rev. Wright had said? He essentially said America has reaped what is sowed. Anyone that has been following global events pre 9-11 knows that this isn’t exactly news. The US has unilaterally supported Israeli terror against Palestine, has inflicted so much pain in the Middle East and Eastern Europe I am surprised no one has said this earlier. White people, by denying what this noble reverend is saying, you have blood on your hands. I am so shocked at the ignorance and complacency of the seemingly intelligent and informed american public. But of course, you can’t do anything wrong, huh?
luckas | 5/2/2008, 6:23 pm EST
because the democrats have lost too many elections to flag draped republicans, most of whom never served a day in uniform but are quite comfortable smearing patriotic politicans who happen to be dems. as limp wristed, french loving commies.

A tu,
There are two ‘Americas:’ that which most in this country see and that which most in the rest of the world see.
I don’t think I’ve seen too many on this website saying the good Rev was WRONG. Many are saying he was/is stupid.

This guy pretty much nailed it for me…
So Rev. Wright was – unbeknownst to Obama – a Jekyll and Hyde character, whose statements “were not only divisive and destructive, but I believe that they end up giving comfort to those who prey on hate.” An amazingly Bush-like turn of phrase! The man who married Barack and Michelle and baptized their children is now rhetorically linked to Osama bin Laden or the Ku Klux Klan. Clearly, this is what panic looks and sounds like when Obama’s flimsy tissues of “race neutrality” are stripped away. – BAR executive editor Glen Ford
Also…
I found that Jon Stewart at The Daily Show addressed the whole Wright hoopla with unique aplomb & a lot of class indeed… Check the related clips from this week’s jubilation

All I’ve ever seen ‘blocked’ are words. B_u_y is one. I think s_ell is another. Sh*t for another. I haven’t seen many instances where content has been a factor. Lord knows the quality and erudition of most of the content is suspect at best.
