The McCain Game Plan

4/27/08, 12:11 pm EST

Call it an educated hunch.

I think we’re seeing the seeds of the broader national security narrative that will be front and center by November.

McCain will paint Obama as a Hamas sympathizing, Ahmadinejad-coddling neophyte, a narrative that will dovetail nicely with the feverswamp’s frenzied and unhinged portrayal of Obama as an America-hating, Muslimy Marxist.

Simultaneously the drums of the Bush war cabinet will pound us closer and closer to the brink with Iran. Call me conspiratorial, but I think the shift of David “New Jesus” Petraeus from Iraq commander to Centcom commander is part of a broader strategy to shift the focus off of Iraq and back onto the broader “Islamofacist” threat, which also includes Syria, that builder of North Korean reactors.

For McCain national security is the only game he’s got — and the goal will be to change the conversation so that we’re no longer talking about the economy, or even who is the best man to resolve the war in Iraq, but rather who has the mettle and the experience to stare down Iran’s “increasingly lethal and malign influence.”

I think you hit the nail on the head — as you point out, what else has McCain got to talk about? The great economy created by the Bush tax cuts? Doing nothing to fix healthcare? Borrowing-and-spending $300 billion a year in Iraq?

Waving the bloody shirt and projecting an image of military strength against “Osama Hussein” is McCain’s only chance. Obama will have to come up with some kind of strategy to deal with this, because the Swift-Boating has already begun.

The real issue should be the parroting of these ‘boogeyman’ enemies ‘threatening our way of life’. This rape and pillage through the middle east is part of a gameplan concieved and executed by PNAC. It’s out there for everybody to see, but yet the media acts somewhat surprised to continually hear about the need for military action. IT’S ALL PART OF THEIR PLAN. Propoganda about terrorism is just a way to peddle their plan to the people. That plan is to own a strategic stronghold of the persian gulf so as to own the oil flow. No more, no less.
Acting surprised about McCain, Bush, Cheney, Rice, et al, parroting war talk is akin to being handed the outcome of a football game, then being surprised when it actually happens.

We’ve known for some time that the plan is as follows: Iraq, Iran, Syria, Turkey, Egypt……
Why do we (media) still act surprised…?????????

All this when we already know we could easily cut back our oil use to about a third……….What a phucking shame.

TD,

You sure DID hit the nail on the head. Of course, that’s the only nail you see. Every thread on the front page of this blog is about the election, no make that the campaign to campaign for the election.

The selection of a Prez is important, but not to the exclusion of all else.

Beam me up Scotty! This planet sucks!

david... | 4/28/2008, 12:26 pm EST

Let’s see…

GWBush=puppet for neocons
DCheney=front for miliary/industrial complex & CFR

vs.

JMcCain=puppet for neocons
CRice(potential VP)=front for military/industrial complex & CFR

Wow. With the help of the Diebold company, this is a “lose/lose” situation for all Americans.

God help us.

careful what you ask for Mr. Spock, the right conditions are being set up so that you do give up on your planet and choose to be taken elsewhere.

This one’s funny.

The conversation will shift from the economy and Iraq to Iran? That would take nothing short of a miracle, as the economy is too important for even the neoconservative-controlled press to hide.

Does anyone really believe Hamas is dumb enough to speak highly of Obama? After the consistent lies the U.S. media has perpetuated in favor of neoconservatives I SIMPLY DO NOT BELIEVE HAMAS HAS EVER SPOKEN A POSITIVE WORD ABOUT OBAMA.

Whoa (from Salon):

“The default right-wing position on Israel is holy writ in American politics, and explains why Hillary Clinton can pander to the right-wing pro-Israel lobby by casually threatening to “totally obliterate” Iran — vaporize 70 million men, women and children who have nothing to do with their leaders’ anti-Israeli posturings — without paying any political price for such irresponsible statements.”

OMG!!! (from Salon)

“The enforced silence about Israel has prevented us from thinking clearly about the Middle East, and helped enable both the disastrous war we are now fighting in Iraq and a possible future one against Iran.”

…and not a peep herein about Patreaus being named Supreme commander.

It would appear that Johnnie Boy is crawling out on a short, dead limb. His presence is noteably absent in a bi-partisan movement to substantially improve GI Bill benefits.

Seems some Cons, especially the warmongerers, fear that if the benefits were improved, military personnel would leave the service to take advantage. Duh!! But wouldn’t more enlist for the same reason?

Johnnie Boy, front and center.

The more this campaign goes on, the more I’m inclined to agree with Aristotle when he said that the best form of government is that run by a “benevolent dictator.” Clinton is a shark on a feeding frenzy, McCain is a another Bush with a 5 point I.Q. advantage and incipient senile dementia, and Obama, the only candidate with vision, will probably lose, because the average American hasn’t got the good sense or intelligence to elect him. I hope I’m wrong on the last point.

KStone | 5/4/2008, 4:26 pm EST

Sometimes, for the sake of national security, it’s important that all options remain open. Hillary – the toughest candidate out there – knows that. Unlike
McCain, she would tacitly agree to torture because it’s necessary.

Obama, a bleeding heart liberal, would just as soon see the Washington Monument blown up before agreeing to this distasteful but necessary measure. I guess that’s why he swore in on a Koran.

Sidney Blumenthal is doing his best to alert America about Obama. Let’s just hope they wake up in time. Isn’t it time for a woman to take over? Vote Hillary. Vote 35 years of experience.
