Hillary Wishes You a Happy Passover

4/18/08, 2:14 pm EST

This morning, Hillary Clinton sent out a message for Passover, an act she’s repeated for nearly every holiday (Kwanzaa), anniversary (Virginia Tech, Good Friday Agreement), or special event (UN’s Durban II Racism Conference) since her campaign started over a year ago. (And with greater frequency, it seems, than the Obama and McCain campaigns combined.)

Here is a chunk of her statement:

I have always been inspired by the enduring words of the Haggadah: “In every generation, each of us must see ourselves as if we personally came out of Egypt.” It’s through remembering the past that we become strong and effective advocates for all who suffer the indignity and pain of servitude and injustice. I am deeply moved by this timeless cry to stand up to oppression, tyranny, and discrimination — wherever they are found.

I’m sorry, but is there anyone who really believes she’s ‘always been inspired by the enduring words of the Haggadah’? Please.

This is coming from someone who in recent months has been embarrassed for embellishing her foreign policy experience, “misspeaking” at length and in detail about her bravery under fire in Tuzla, even fibbing about her purported namesake, Sir Edmund Hillary (who was curiously an anonymous bee keeper in New Zealand when Hillary was born).

At a time when nearly half the American public thinks she’s a phony, this kind of over-the-top, say-anything pandering seems almost pathological.

This is why she’s losing, and this is why she will lose.

Hag Sameach to you too, Hillary. Hope you enjoy this Passover from a duck blind in Scranton, sipping on a cold sixpack, practicing the marksmanship your father taught you.

TD,

You saw fit to harangue Messes Gibson and Steph>>s for their banality. I am forced to point out that on the banal-o-meter, your comments also ring the bell. The aforementioned wags were pilloried for not sticking to issues. How do you square that with your ‘non-issue’ coverage?

For the record, if you have some evidence that half the ‘public’ (would that be the Citizens of the U.S.? The Voting Citizens of the U.S.? Or the Democratic Voting Citizens of the U.S.?) thinks HRC is a phony, you’ll be able to provide some support for that claim. By using ‘public’ and ‘phony,’ you leave several back doors open to flee through.

Had you ever spent any time hunting, you’d know that marksmanship is not a characteristic given to scatterguns, unless, of course, you use centerfire rifles when you hunt ducks, which, by the way, is done in the Fall and Winter, NOT in the Spring. And most of my beer sipping friends SLURP them one at a time rather than trying to consume all at once. Most. Otherwise, they lose their head. You’d know that if you ever drank beer.

Perhaps we should thank her by passing her over for the nomination.

Seems you are a bit of a one trick pony however, you risk becoming a tool of the propagandists that are trying to use the media to skew the election… oh, yea, I forgot you guys think affecting the election is your duty.

I thought your comments were great and made me laugh out loud. Of course she thinks we all believe her – since George Bush was elected, we can be capable of believing any kind of drivel.

Uh, how did the troll get in here? And by the way, typing in all caps doesn’t get your point across any better and your poor spelling and grammar doesn’t help you either. And on ‘National Maturity’, I think Obama is acting far more mature than any of the other candidates out there.

Sir E. H. was not unknown when Hillary Clinton was born. He was a bee keeper in the summer and a climber in the winter. His first major climb was in 1939. He was famous long before his 1953 Everest climb. People who can’t get their facts straight shouldn’t be ragging on others.

If Ms. Dubert has other angry baggage, she should perhaps vent before coming online. what rude and unclassy statements she posted; i think voters for hillary are happier people…

Chag sameach!! My Rabbi would be proud of Hillary!

Thank you for nailing the main problem for the electability of Hillary Clinton. I get frustrated when people are crying “Misogyny!” for the reason that Hillary is trailing Obama. For me, it’s the Ted Kennedy Syndrome. I don’t know why she is running for president except that she feels it’s her turn to be president. She admits in numerous interviews that she will do and say anything to get elected. So, I think the cynicism in this article is fully warranted.

Yeah right, she knows about as much about Haggadah as she does about duck hunting.

Nice work Meesh, you’re the most eloquent Frenchman in the tri-state area.
