Yes, it’s April Fools’ Day, but we swear we’re not making this up.

Are we actually speaking with the enemy? Could it be that we lied all that time in our vociferous assertations that we would never negotiate with our enemies? Be very careful who you lable a terrorist, for one man’s terrorist is another man’s minutemen. Today, china accused the tibetan people of planning acts of violence during the Olympics. This flies in the face of all buddhist teachings that all tibetans revere. So the report is either an attempt by the Chinese to justify what they are about to do, or the Tibetan people are so oppressed that they see violence as their last desperate act… as any other animal would when faced with an untenous situation. Either one is a sad testament on our evolution in this “21st century”. If you are going to the Olympics in China, be very careful, the Chinese themselves will stage assaults on the public to justify their crackdown and to payback their perceived enemies. That’s just the way the beast behaves and it is starting to make it’s moves. Can you recognize it?

The Iraqis are already beyond the reach of training, they are now forced to act. The killing and suffering must stop B4 anyone will grow there again.
The Tibetans may be able to help the rest of us, were the majority of us willing or even capable of learning, to deal peacefuly and democraticaly with adversity and prosperity.
Unfortunately, we feel we must deal with competition and supremacy in all endeavors, which is what creates the situation that led to the war in Iraq.
All that ancient knowledge seems to be useless to these new leaders… why is that?
Why has progress advanced ever so slowly since the 70’s? why has education, healthcare, fuel efficiency, government efficiency and just about every public institution you can think of actually regressed rather than evolved since the 70’s?

Perhaps we ignored the true enemy? Failed to see those among us with a tree growing out of their eye for selective blindness caused by our own splinter.
Yes, we could learn alot from the TIBETANS, perhaps if we had, we could have truly helped the people of IRAQ.

PS>> earth is a living planet, she makes oil like we make blood, there is no energy crisis beyond that which is fabricated by the industries that profit from inefficiency and fear. A mosquito sucking your blood won’t kill you through blood loss, but a bloodsucker can help create the appropiate conditions to help a foreign entity kill the food source.

I wonder how much we paid Sadr to stop this time?

BD,

Did you see that Winter Soldiers article on The Nation? It would appear our troops’ behavior is far worse than is reported. Yet another national ignominy resulting from this debacle.

I’ve long held out for … holding out, but am beginning to question that course now. I felt that if we were crass/insensitive/greedy, etc. enough to get into the mess, we should be dignified enough to attempt to maintain SOME semblance of order. But if such a course is not possible, abandonment would seem to be the only option.

PS Did you know the word ‘freedom’ appears only once in the U.S. Constitution (1st amendment, freedome of speech) and NOT at all in the Declaration? Perhaps everyone knew that but me, or I forgot, but I found that remarkable, given the ‘play’ the word receives politically.

I guess one can understand why the Cons want such a strict interpretation of the Constitution.

DD.
I did check out Winter Soldiers. I’m sure there are many more “My Lai” moments that have happened, and still happening, in Iraq. What’s really sad is that when we finally bring these courageous young men and women home, many are likely to be so phucked up in the head and, thanks to “on-the-job training” like that, with limited skills to help them resume a “normal” life (if such a thing is even possible). The VA needs to be ready.

As far as an exit strategy; I say we pay the Iraqi’s (and I’m talking a FRACTION of what this war is costing us) to rebuild Iraq themselves. Not that we should say, “Sorry we leveled your country, here’s a bunch of cash, you’re on your own.” (why does that sound familiar?) But rather, I think it would give them a say in how they rebuild their country. And maybe…they’d be less likely to destroy what they’ve created?

Also, I think Zappa’s quote about “The illusion of freedom” said it best.

Did anyone happen to see ‘Bad Voodoo’s war’ on PBS’ Frontline last night? When you notice what the guys on that platoon where protecting, you realize exactly what this war is all about. They were escorting tankers loaded with either fuel or oil without sufficient armed support.

Jed, I plan to catch the replay of “Frontline” Thu. night. My kids unplugged my DVR :(

Terrorist? Who assigns these labels? Bushney? Part of the go-along mentality of the MSM that got us into this mess.

This is called propaganda, folks. By passing it along, TD reinforces it. By not calling him on it, we reinforce the notion.

If Iranians can be called terrorists for helping their neighbors, like Texans helping Oklahomans, what does that make the U.S.?

We’re a nation of sheep, no different than our enemies.
