The recent Barack Obama cover of Rolling Stone was the latest in a long line of politically-oriented covers of the magazine. For an interesting trip into past RS political covers (including covers focusing on Watergate, Jimmy Carter and the 2000 election) click here.

Too much praise too soon. I should have known. Now I can’t get into some threads. Of course, it COULD just be my ‘name.’ Nah!! Still, we’re moving in the right direction. I hope.

Wow TD!! This site has gone from a Model A (that means something to some people) to a Masseratti (?). Nice work.
Now, if the name window would just remember who I am … wait, not important.

TD,
After all my carping about the performance of this website, I have to tell you it’s been VERY good lately. My thanks to you.

Well latin america is going more and more leftist. Seems like the poorer people are, the further left they go. HMMM!!!
I don’t think I like the way things are lining up.

Jed, yes i notice it. Hard to say what it means. Have you noticed how the opposision have won almost every election this year? Putin got His man but change elsewhere.

Dirty Dennis,
I think they make an ointment for that!

Does anyone else notice the global tension and stress level intensifying?
DirtyDennis | 3/28/2008, 10:02 am EST
kp,
Please forgive me. I didn’t know that venting was limited to you and the others. I am chagrined.
kp | 3/27/2008, 6:24 pm EST
bfooo
it’s called venting.
in defense of the other butyful minds, the economy, bear-sterns, tainted trailers, and high gas prices, have all been mentioned here. i agree, not by RS, but who made you king of all media? what should we be talking about now, your royal hindass? please tell us, we’re morons. sheesh, just what we need, another a-hole telling us what to think and say.
DirtyDennis | 3/27/2008, 12:49 pm EST
Ole
TD, and by extension, RS could care less about what’s going on in this country or the world. He/They are fixated upon one thing and that’s their own political agenda.
Anything the poisoning of the Katrina refugees? Nope.
Anything on the landmark 4,000 U.S. fatality in Iraq? Nope.
Anything on the ’sweetheart’ deal giving JP Morgan to ‘bail out’ Bear Stearns? Nope.
Anything on the U.S. helping Turkey ‘invade’ Iraq? Nope.
Anything on the fact housing costs are down about 20%? Nope.
Anything about the TONS of tainted beef distributed throughout the West? Nope.
Anything about the rising oil costs? Nope.
Anything about the FAA cutting back on inspectors, increasing the danger of flying? Nope.
And that’s just an ‘off the top of my head’ list.

Hey, how’s that surge going?
I guess $300+million only b_uys a temporary peace from a warmonger, huh? I guess not intelligence service could have seen this coming.
I wonder how long before the sunny start using the free money we are giving them to arm themselves better.
do we really think our presence prevents a civil war, or can they fight around us?
Can we kill them into submission, or will killing people merely inspire hatred in their family and friends?
Is throwing money at the problem truly a solution or merely superficial dressing on the wound?

Wow, hadn’t seen this moron in a long time… still bouncing around wonderland?
Don’t count your chickens just yet bud. This crisis isn’t quite over yet… don’t start yelling ‘mission acomplshed’ prematurely…ie. don’t blow your wad before the fat lady sings.
It keeps it in the limelight so people won’t forget to do the right thing when it is required.

My favorites were the Ralph Steadman and Doonesbury covers.

I’m torn between Howard Dean and Michael Moore. But my Dickinson is SO big, I’ll just pick both.

I rubbed a Taibbi all over my Dickinson to Al Gore’s airbrushed unit for weeks!

My favorite RS cover was the one with Al Gore’s man-unit airbrushed for emphasis. I rubbed a Taibbi all over my Dickinson for weeks to that pic!
