Holy Soot!

3/24/08, 2:19 pm EST

New research suggests that soot in the atmosphere is playing a far greater role in global warming than previously understood.

If that science holds up, this could be extraordinarily good news. Removing soot is quick, easy, cheap and yields enormous health benefits.

We’ll still have to go after CO2 and methane, but damn. This is some tasty low hanging fruit.

The Grand Illusion
Welcome to the grand illusion
Come on in and see whats happening
Pay the price, get your tickets for the show
But dont be fooled by the radio
The tv or the magazines
THEY ARE OWNED BY A HANDFUL OF DRAMA QUEENS

So if you think your life is complete confusion
Because you never win the game
Just remember that its a grand illusion
And deep inside we’re all the same.
HOPE AND CHANGE, paid for by G. E.

another song, the eighty’s were the BEST OF TIMES
with the Clinton’s!

Um, surely this isn’t good news in the slightest?

If scientists have previously underestimated the effect of soot, then global warming will be worse than previously expected. Just because reversing this effect will be cheaper than reversing GW from other causes is hardly relevant; we’ll still have to make these changes just to get back to square one. Or am I missing something?

Too bad the US Forest Service is so short on air tankers to fight wildfires.

USFS fought off the mighty Il-76
waterbomber from Russia for years
and the DC-10 flies too high to be anywhere near as effective.

Man, I’m gonna miss those black boogers.

Touche Coach. Certainly worth considering. Beware the bearer of good news. Or some such thing. There ain’t no free lunchs.

Could this possibly be research conducted and paid for by big oil?
Sounds like a distraction to me. Hmmmm: Clean the air, or rid the world of big oil’s political control?

Clean the air is a start, but ridding the world of big oil’s control should be first and foremost.

Jamie,

I’ll consider that, but it would fly in the face of a long-standing precedent and maybe…maybe would offend he that so dubbed me.

I don’t understand what this has to do with fruit.

JustMe | 3/24/2008, 6:58 pm EST

Maybe…maybe you could drop the dirty from your Dennis at the same time.

DirtyDennis | 3/24/2008, 4:45 pm EST

Will this help my allergies too?
