Wondering just HOW absurd is the MSM’s absorption with the primary, to the exclusion of all else, I did a little survey of Young Tim’s threads for the past three weeks. Since February 12, the breakdown of threads is as follows:

Obama 1 5
Cl inton 13
Primary 28
News 5
Total 61

That would be any thread title with the name Obama or Clinton. The rest are either stories about the primary, including GOP, or ‘news.’ If you consider Joe Liebermann’s thoughts on waterboarding news.

In that span, the U.S. spent $91 BILLION (nod to Carl Sagan) on the war in Iraq and the only ‘story’ we got in that time was about the Myth Of The Surge, which was actually just a plug for an RS magazine article.

In that three-week span, Columbia almost invaded Ecuador (or was it the other way round?), Turkey DID invade Iraq, the U.S. has officially slipped into a recession, foreclosures and gasoline are up, employment is down, tainted beef is recalled (What’s that? Too late? Never mind), Katrina refugees are poisoned as they sleep by FEMA (What’s that? No one accountable. Never mind.), Georgie Porgie vetoed a bill making waterboarding illegal, Bret Favre retired and some girl named Spears has family problems.

It’s easy to feel like Bill Murray in Groundhog Day, as he laments not being able to relive a day with a beautiful lass and pina coladas in the Caribbean. Actually Bill had it made, he had Andie McDowell. Imagine having to relive TD’s fantasies about the election process every day. In the year and a half I’ve been ‘participating’ on this website I’ve seen a lot of folks move on. It’s too bad, really. I didn’t agree with many of them but they all deserved the right to speak and I miss them. (Most of them.) Hail, even Wild Thing has gotten bored, something I thought was impossible.

I, too, have thought of moving on, but can’t find a blog that interests me. Besides, I think, someone needs to remain to hold young TD accountable. I like, mostly, the casualness of RS’ blog and Oil Of Olay called it visceral. I confess I had to look the word up and it was NOT what I thought. It is, however, EXACTLY what this blog is, or should be. Out of curiosity, with a tinge of fear, I looked in on some of RS’ other blogs. Boy, they work just fine and they’re really neat. I wonder if we can get one of those chaps to come over here to National Affairs and fix this mess.

But, I suppose we shouldn’t expect anyone who’s idea of National Affairs is how the Wyoming Caucus works to be able to either fix the problem, or seek assistance elsewhere.

Rep. Foster has a chance to be a great congressman, with His background in Physics He should be a leader on Energy policy.

man, you are so retarded… you don’t take a $5500 professional to the back of a chevy or even a limo for that matter, you take her to the ritz carlton.

An interesting development in this story came out earlier today. Spitzer was being investigated not because of the prostitution ring, he was being investigated because of the large payments he was making of $5500 or more on a regular basis. Some ‘alert’(nosey) person at the bank took note of this and they ‘thought’ it may be connected to bribery. An investigation and wiretap uncovered the prostitution, not any other corruption. The story raises some issues that seem to have escaped the media. Used to be that transactions of more than $30000 were reported to the government. Now, any repetitive cash or large check payments are subject to scrutiny. Under a republican administration with carte blanche for abusing the intelligence apparatus in an election cycle, democrats must be in their best behaviour. What other politicians are under executive scrutiny due to the cash they spend. Are there some leaders of industry being investigated? do they not partake of the several thousand dollar an hour professional escorts? Is it only a crime when a prominent democratic politician is involved? The emerald club apparently catered to the elite who can afford such high priced beautys… where are the other names? Remember the madam who operated in DC and got busted last year, she was threatening to release the numbers on her little black book. Considering it is DC and the money involved… what are those other names? was she convicted or saved? I remember one representative being exposed, was that all?
When they surveil a drug dealing operation, it sometimes takes them 5 years to bust the same 10 people they would have busted the first 3 weeks. In that case, there is usually alot of unreported money involved and the chance to learn the culprits operational methods. While they had an opportunity to bust everyone who ever visited the emerald club, bringing down the powerful and well connected in political circles and the lobbying industry, they chose to end it immediately and bust only Spitzer. Humm, I wonder if it has to do with the fact he’s a democrat and this is an election cycle.

Jeez Jed, are you SO dense as to not recognize ‘back seat’ is figurative for cornholing?

Anonymous | 3/13/2008, 1:16 am EST

(Jed Clampett)

Not dense, just apparently not into the same things as you guys. I can think of much better things with a woman, particularly a pro or two, than packing fudge.

DirtyDennis | 3/13/2008, 7:55 am EST

Jeez Jed, can’t you see I’m parodying your accusing me of being dense because I didn’t ’see’ voice the same as you. Who knows what Wild Man is thinking? He’s in a parallel universe.

Anonymous | 3/13/2008, 8:38 am EST

perpendicular is more like it

DirtyDennis | 3/13/2008, 10:59 am EST

Perpindicular Universe. What a fascinating thought. If anyone can pull it off, Wild Thing’s the one.

Anonymous | 3/14/2008, 10:32 am EST

(Jed Clampett)

he’s merely a tool of that universe.

If you think about what perpendicular means, you might understand what I was implying. Hint, it’s invasive and part of the topic you guys broached.
