See the Ad the Obama Campaign Dubs “A Runaway Case of Law Breaking”

2/21/08, 3:52 pm EST

A new 527 soft money group fianced by big-time $100,000 donors calling itself the American Leadership Project is sweeping in to fund pro-Hillary Clinton advertising that she can no longer afford herself in Ohio and possibly Texas and Pennsylvania.

I just got off an Obama conference call in which campaign lawyer Bob Bauer called the effort “a runaway case of law breaking.”

I’m just getting up to speed on the legal issues involved. But the ad clearly echoes the talking points of the Clinton campaign, and but for the sotto voce dislaimer at the end would be indistinguishable from a Mandy Grunwald creation.

Hillary Clinton is experienced candidate. No doubt. What did she learn from it? Why did she support Iraq war?

Clinton should be DESTROYED for this in court.

This is the Swift Boat Veterans For Truth all over again.

I doubt she’ll win the nomination, but if she does, I’m not voting this year. I’ve had enough of corporate puppets making decisions for the people who are destroying this country.

By the way – Obama sponsored 820 bills in the Illinois Senate and over 200 in the U.S. Senate, dozens passed into law.

Hillary? 20 bills in six years, NONE passed into law.

Who’s more experienced, again?

Obama ‘08

Experienced. 4 more years in the US Senate than Obama. What meaningful could she have possibly gained in those 4 years? Plus, Obama was an elected official in the Illinois State legislature for a full 5 years before Hillary won her first campaign. Hmm..so maybe Obama has more experience.

Look, as ethically-reprehensible as this (and, for that matter, Clinton’s entire campaign)has been, the sad truth is, at the end of the day, if she gets the nomination, the joke is on us. Ask yourself, if the Democratic party really is the party of compassion and populism that it makes itself out to be, then why would any of this acrimonious mud-slinging be necessary in the first place? This isn’t a general election, it is a primary. The Clintons have so little faith in the constituents of their own party that they don’t think we can see through her derisive, and may I add poorly-crafted, facade. But really, if fear-mongering is what it takes to get you out of your own primary, then who do the Democrats have to blame for this house of cards other than themselves? Here’s a great piece of logic: we’ll capture Congress by crying about how we all voted to invade Iraq based on fear and lies and promise that it won’t happen again. Then, a mere 2 years later, we’ll turn around and use those same tactics to silence any voices of dissent within our own party. Thanks for the overwhelming gasp of confidence. We’re smart enough to see through the Republicans’ lies, but the Clintons? Well, that’s just good business. Pathetic.

One final pathetic attempt from a campaign that was doomed pretty much from the start. I think Hillary is politically savvy and smart enough to know when it’s over. I just don’t know if her stubbornness and sense of entitlement will allow her to see it. I actually thought her tone at the end of the debate tonight sounded a little conciliatory, but maybe I was wrong. })
