Virginia by the Numbers:
Obama v. the GOP

2/13/08, 1:29 am EST

I’ve been crunching the numbers, and there are more than a few stunning results out of Virginia tonight:

  • Obama received nearly 140,000 more votes than all of the Republicans combined.
  • Obama finished third among Republicans. His 47,000 Republican votes are more than six times what Ron Paul received, and match one quarter of McCain’s haul.
  • Independents flocked to Obama over McCain 145,000 to 38,000 — that’s closing in on 4:1.

Wow! Talk about a clue-by-four.

I heard Tim Russert this morning say that Hillary will have to win ALL of the remaining contests by at least 55% to win the nomination. After this Tues. that number jumps to 67%. Do you hear that singing? I think it’s Madeline Albight

In the elsection doesn’t virginia typically go republican? does this mean Obama could win a typically republican state by huge numbers in the fall?

Obamas putting it together, Hes a great candidate and is getting a great cross section of the electorate behind Him. Out of the three that can win theres no doubt He would be the best president.

Ray,

Obama may turn out to be the greatest Prez ever (if he gets elected). We may have to make room on Rushmore for him. But the same might be said for HRC OR Johnnie.

Since there IS no precedent for being president (I like that), it’s difficult to say anything more definitive than, “I like this one,” or, “I like that one.” Anything else is conjecture.

I’ve seen a few Prez elected and read about a few. What they said in the campaign and what they did once in the OO were not much alike. Getting elected and being Prez are NOT the same. I’m gonna take a giant leap and say the only Prez who HASN’T lied in his campaign has been Carter. Maybe not Ike, but he didn’t say anything. He just smiled. He DID say he’d go to Korea. And he did. Not sure what, if anything, that meant. And he DID say he’d get us out of Korea. And he did. But he got us into Viet Nam. And he DID say beware of the Military Industrical Complex. And we did NOT. But that’s another story for another day.

Yeah, yeah, yeah… the Repubs are voting in the Democrat’s primaries just to make sure Obama is their candidate. They know America will never elect a black Muslim president.

dr ralph,

Just another republican devoted to the religion of lies.

It seems the only way a republican can win is to lie. Just watch McCain try to squirm into that one. The worst liar in the party trying to convince them he’s a real man. He’d have better luck trying to lift his arms above his head. McCain is and will always be a loser.

Obama is not muslim. John McCain is probably muslim considering how much he’s lied and flip flopped on everything he’s ever done in his public life.

The latest? He used the campaign finance system as collateral for a loan to pay for his own campaign! If he secured the nomination he’d drop the public system all together and take private money!! What a traitor!

This guy truly is just an extension of George W. Bush ideology. That’s 4 more years of the worst presidency the United States has ever seen.

What is this proxy server error? does this site always do this?

Anonymous | 2/19/2008, 8:08 am EST

This site has technical ‘issues.’ We’d like to think they’re being addressed, but the evidence seems to point elsewhere. There has been a decided ‘brain drain’ as a result.
