Bubba Clinton’s 1992 Campaign Manager Backs Obama

2/13/08, 3:08 pm EST

The Obama campaign announced in a conference call this afternoon the endorsement of superdelegate David Wilhelm, the national campaign manager of President Clinton’s winning bid in 1992.

Yes, Bill Clinton’s campaign manager has endorsed Barack Obama.

Wilhelm, the chairman of the DNC during Clinton’s first term and a former venture capitalist, has strong Ohio roots, so his endorsement should come as no surprise after Hillary Clinton made the Buckeye State a central part of her revised campaign strategy with endorsees Gov. Ted Strickland and former Sen. John Glenn visibly in tow.

I still don’t hold much stock in endorsements. Unless they come from a certain former VP or a candidate with delegates to throw around (I’m looking at you, John Edwards), they probably won’t have much effect in the long run. But Wilhelm could prove more important behind the scenes than on the stump.

Wilhelm is a devout Christian who’s spoken of his faith widely. In 2006 he launched FaithfulDemocrats.com, a site designed to “provide a Christian-focused, Democratic community online.” He can be an asset in wooing religious Democrats in Texas and Ohio — and perhaps help thwart Clinton’s Hail-Mary strategy.

Wilhelm, devout Christian, falls for revival style politician. Surprise.

Obama is the emotional vote, Clinton is the wise vote.

OBAMA is the perfect choice.

If Wilhelm is a devout christian. I can not see him supporting Clintons adultery. Nor Mrs. Clinton’s lies.

OBAMA – 08 – we need some fresh air!

“Clinton is the wise vote.”
Yea, if bush is your idea of wise. Clinton has voted for everything bush has wanted. If you factor in her husband’s track record (which would seem fair, considering how she trots him out) of murderous sanctions against Iraq, starting a genocide in Kosovo, and setting up a police state here at home, she’s about the worst candidate there could possibly be. Plus she’s polarizing in the worst kind of way and is clearly psychotic. Real wise.

What a wise man. So John Edwards, what are you waiting for? Maybe you are waiting for a strategic moment, that will make us all proud.

Jess | 2/13/2008, 4:57 pm EST

wow – who is old politics with Kennedy, Kerry and now Wilhelm? And for the record Obama never voted against the war in Iraq he simply made a speech about it and they did nothing to follow up. Sounds like a familiar pattern. The fact Hillary is still going with all teh negative media is commendable and she gets this Texas vote.

If nothing else, I hope that one thing this campaign shows is that you can never count out the Clintons. Even with two-faced former supporters turning on her, Hillary Clinton will pull this thing out. She must or John McCain will most certanly win.

No thank you to HIllary’s “Shoved down your throat Health care Plan”. Her plan will cost you more in taxes than you current health care premium. I the running of her campaign is an example of how she would run the country then I say “No thank you>” She seems to be incrediably short-sighted or just plain arrogant to think that she would have this “all wrapped up” by Super Tuesday. She didn’t have a plan B – hummm. Now she is forced to run around like a chicken with her head chopped off to make up for lost time and lost primaries. Not to mention she can’t contol that husband of hers and that’s a scary though – him back in the White house. Barack – the one with “no experience” has made her look like an incompetent. We have just had 8 years of incompetence – we don’t need anh more. This is what happens when your goal is just to “be the President” not to “help the country”! Obama gets my vote – he is smarter! If you think Clinton can reach across the isle – think again. All of her wonderful ideas will be met with serious resistence from the right side of the isle.

If you want McCain, support Clinton. With a mismanaged campaign, the mismanaged $100,000,000 war chest and mismanaged staff, Hillary has proved she would mismanage the country. Obama can win the whole enchilada and unite our country to boot.

I don’t want the kind of health care plan Clinton is introducing to be forced upon me. I understand why auto insurance is mandatory, I would also understand if child health insurance would be mandatory, but not individual insurance. She is almost there on the health insurance idea but not yet. OBAMA 08
