The Elizabeth Edwards Progressives

1/31/08, 1:46 pm EST

So where will John Edwards’ support end up?

I wrote yesterday about the two big camps of Edwards voters: white, manly working stiffs and Elizabeth Edwards Progressives.

I don’t have any indication of how the rural men are breaking, but the Elizabeth Edwards Progressives are moving to Barack in an avalanche.

Check out this Daily Kos straw poll.

Before he bowed out, Edwards was in first place with 42 percent, compared to Obama’s 41. Hillary Clinton brought up the rear at 9 percent.

Today, with Edwards out of the mix, Obama’s got 73 percent. Hillary’s got 11.

For those slow on the math…

That’s a 32 percent bounce for Obama.
A 2 percent blip for Clinton.

People that are voting democrat and that have done their homework are all behind Obama. But, Hillary is friends with the same a-holes that helped cheat Bush into power. Should we expect different results without having changed anything (voting machines, exit polling, paper back-ups for voting machines)? It wouldn’t surprise me if Hillary gets the nod from the party. Let’s hope not.

People that have truly done their “homework” would vote for Hillary. Her proposals are well-thought-out and are paid for. Obama is exciting – but speeches don’t always translate to the best policies or ACTION.

Hillary’s plans are well-thought out, but so are Obama’s. Considering they’re both drawing from the same pool of advisers, you have to consider:

Which one is more likely to take a my way or the highway approach with a 50% GOP congress?

Which one will be better able to persuade congress and the public to go along with necessary but unpopular proposals?

Which one will be better able to take ACTION without being stifled by partisan gridlock?

Didn’t gallup say that Edwards supporters split between Hil and Obama?

Edwards’ supporters are voting for him in upcoming primary states. We are doing so on behalf of Edwards stance on the issues. The other candidates have the ability to embrace a firm commitment to Edwards stances on ending bad trade deals, renegotiating so workers aren’t hurt, and a firm commitment to incentivizing manufacturing jobs for American citizens, etc.. we also would like Edwards offered the VP position. If another candidate does not do this, we will never vote for them.
