Frankly, it doesn’t matter what the hispanic community says. There are not enough legal voters in the Hispanic community to make the difference.

Informed voter, dont discount the Hispanic vote, they helped Bush win both times. Whoever wants to win this time needs to reach out to the Hispanic population, and the growing Islamic population.

Maybe some of them cubans in Miami and a few puerto ricans in NY might fit that bill. Other than that, most educated latinos recognize an opportunity for changes that might perhaps bring more equity to wealth distribution.

It had to sink to this level sooner are later..
So, let me get this straight..
If you support Hillary Clinton your a Racists, You can’t stand black people and you find nothing wrong with the “N” word.
People like David Duke and Imus support Hillary Clinton, and it’s been rumored that The Clintons have had fund raisers at klan rallies with guest speakers like Senator Byrd and they contacted the ghost of Albert Gore Sr. by using a wige board that was made in the shape of a moon pie, then went out on their annual “COON” hunt.
Even though Hillary Clinton ” Be No Ways Tarred ” and she has made a trip or two to ” DA MOUNT-TANE TOP “, Hillary refuses to judge any ” CHIREN ” by the color of their skin, but rather she judges them by the ( ” KAY-RACK-TUR ” They be voting for in da next election!! )
Now, on the other side of the coin, we have Barack Hussein Obama..
Not to be misunderstood for the other Hussein or Osama.
But if I’m correct, by voting for Senator Barack Obama, I then become a SEXIST, and you think all women should stay at home, cooking and cleaning, having babies and standing around barefoot wearing a oversized cotton night shirt with nothing on under it, so as to make it easier for the master of the household to get at what belongs to him by rights of marraige in the first place.
That’s right, by supporting Obama, ” GO TIDE!! “, When we get home, we want a hot dinner on the table and we want our women necked as the day they were born there to remove our soiled shoes from our sweaty smelly feat!!
By voting for Obama ” ALA-BY-GOD-BAMA GO TIDE!! “, We in fact are putting women back 100 years, right where they belong..
A vote for Obama ” GO BIG RED!! “, is a vote to show the women of this nation where they stand, or kneel, depending on your perversion!
Well, SKREW THIS
I’M VOTING REPUBLICAN!!!

the “news” is partly owned by Disney which is why it’s at a 5th grade level and the election has turned into a totally fabricated black man vs woman reality show. because reporters are bored and need drama.
if we had some real news then this election would be about the most qualified candidates and not two politicians with less than five years of real experience.

Another valid point of comparison between Rome and America today is the fascination with political- oriented blogs. In the latter days of the Empire, citizens were so plugged into the internet that they were failing to tend crops, flog slaves, clean gutters, make statues, eat pizza. It wasn’t until the writings of Abhorus Digitas (late 4th Century A.D.) that Romans even began to realize that while they had been sitting before their glowing computer screens, the mnonuments had been crumbling, the barbarians encroaching, the standards slipping…At that point it was too late to do anything except provide even more pathetic commentary, so that at least future generations might benefit.

Also, I’m surprised no one has addressed the theme of a racist Mexican population.
When I lived in San Diego in the 70s, I had a friend living in Tecate who surprised me when I asked him if he ever had any of the black guys from work home. According to him, that was NOT done.
That’s the only time I encountered such a thing, but it was pretty much a social more to him.
I think the whole race card may be subordinate to political affiliations (partys). He’s our ‘guy’ and we’re gonna stick with him no matter what. If MLK was alive, for example, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him carry the south running on a GOP ticket.
Another ‘element’ to the issue is many seem to have trouble with blacks as a group but not with individuals. When polled they may be against, generally, a black for POTUS, but have no trouble voting for Obama. Is he black? Is Tiger? What if MJ or Denzel ran?
I played ball with a guy from the South who held forth long and hard that blacks were ‘different’ and he couldn’t be seen in his hometown with them. (He didn’t mind being on a team with them in CA.) “What if Willie Mays came to your town,” he was asked? “Well, that was different.”
Finally, there are those who say they have no trouble with blacks running for office. And say as much to pollsters. “But Jesus, we didn’t know you were talking about Tom Bradley.”
As for me, I hope Barack ‘passes’ on this round. Let HRC and Edwards carry the freight for a while. Barack can stay in the Senate and say wonderful things for a few more years, represent the country and the party in a variety of ways.
If he did that for the next ten years, he’d be annointed the next Czar. ESPECIALLY if climate change isn’t reversed.

Let’s face it, tons of people are undercover racists and probably won’t vote for Obama just cause he’s black, which is just sad and pathetic. Lations that I know and grew up with in Los Angeles are probably border line KKK type racists. It comes down to education and kissing the butts of whites for sooo long. They all need to vote for Patron Clinton. Also, it doesn’t help the fact that Univision and Telemundo brainwashes the latino population on who to vote and who to hate. Scary stuff, but the truth.
Jed Clampett | 1/15/2008, 2:06 pm EST
funny how enslaving people will put a blemish on your entire race for many generations after the trasnsgression has ended huh?
The reason no one has raised the issue of others being racist even thought there clearly are racist strains through all levels of a society is because no type of racism has been as insidious as the racism perpetrated on all other races of americans by white americans. No one was spared, Native americans were decimated by disease, war and the drug alcohol which was used as a weapon on the war for the lands of north america. The blacks were used as slave labor in the agricultural markets. Chinese were basically used as slave labor in building transportation infrastructure. Hispanics are used in all menial jobs at a price well below what a comparable non-minority laborer would be paid. The inherent racism is that a minority is not worth nearly as much as a caucasian doing the same job. As our education system has proven of late, nothing could be further from the truth. What’s worse, america loves to play lip service to issues and in the end do nothing to really solve the problem. Americans predilection for piecemeal patchwork repairs that work well for no one is one reason why the richest nation on earth can do something as simple as providing for the healthcare of it’s population but can allow the CEO of a healthcare provider to rake in hundreds of millions a year in personal wealth. Is one mans desire for riches and the pursuit of happiness enough to trump the needs of thousands who are merely struggling to survive?
Somewhere In the Middle | 1/15/2008, 4:16 pm EST
Very true Jed. In addition, Barbary pirates from the north African coast captured as many as 1.25 million Europeans and sold them into slavery stretching from the 16th through the 19th centuries. Arabs also captured Africans and sold them into slavery for nearly 1000 years. There is never an excuse for a practice as disgusting and condemnable as slavery, but history shows that it is a practice that has been performed by just about every group on the planet against every other group on the planet. The blood of slavery is on everyone’s hands.

Jed Clampett | 1/15/2008, 6:35 pm EST
It’s been my experience that bigotry is a malady inherent in the poor and uneducated.
Most of the well educated, professionals I have met from latin america are not racist. Almost all the poor I have met have a racist tendency of some sort, some of them learned from television towards a people they don’t know or have never experienced.
I’ve met people in Chile for example, that have a predisposition to hatred towards blacks, though there was never a slave market in chile and no infusion of black people.
In my opinion, racism, bigotry, prejudice, is mostly a subterfuge that allows the very poor and disenfranchised to find others in a worse condition than them and therefore worthy of derision. This is a learned behaviour taught to them by the oppressors that do the same to them.
io | 1/15/2008, 8:00 pm EST
“Obama is talking about pioneers and immigrants, about slaves and suffragettes, about the can-do spirit that Americans used to have…and somewhere in a screaming sea of 4,000, Arlene Estevez is pondering a parable: When a man asked for help, she remembers, God sent a rope. Then a ladder. When both went unused, He took them back. ‘The world has seemed so hopeless. It’s like there was nobody there to help us up and help us out,’ she says. ‘To me, Obama is the rope and the ladder. It’s our opportunity right now, and I’m not going to miss it.’”
“The Clintons have become simply too arrogant and self-serving and forgotten that their popularity was given to them by the American people, despite many shortcomings that they, as all mortals, succumb to. They need to remind themselves how blessed they really are instead of how entitled they should be with regards to the White House. — Posted by Nguyen Chau Giao

I think you hit the nail on the head Jed. Many of the Irish immigrants that came to the US during the Great Famine were very poor and held some of the most racist views toward blacks. The Irish and blacks were both at the bottom of the social ladder and they felt they could elevate their own position by stepping on the heads of others.
When I lived in Ireland I saw first hand the type of racism that poverty can birth in Northern Ireland. The areas around Shankill Road and Falls Road in Belfast are two of the poorer areas in the country and also house the most violently racist murals toward either British or Irish citizens. In fact a wall divides the city in half to keep the British Protestants and Irish Catholics from literally killing one another. Yet in the wealthier parts, there is no wall and no murals and you will very likely find Brits living next door to Irish in peace.
I think the same can be related to Latinos. Latinos that have been educated and have a modicum of wealth are less likely to hold racist views towards blacks than those that have no education and no wealth. All those people have is the fact that they are Latino and that HAS to be better than being black, otherwise they have nothing.
Cruz | 1/18/2008, 8:40 am EST
You hit it right on the nail. I am from the Bronx, NY. The Bronx is Flooded with Puerto-Ricans and Dominicans. I can attest to the fact that they are extremely racist. They are quick to embrace white candidates and denounce anything that looks or is Black. Which is puzzling to me because the Puerto-Ricans and Dominicans will act and dress like Black people do on top of taking the Black man’s swagger but then they go home and call Black people monkeys. Hispanics are truly an enigma.

(LOL) good one…As for Latinos being racists…sadly, most Latinos I know in LA. have some bone to pick with black people (talking outside the gang problems, there).
Honestly, black people are for the most part confused by this as are white people. Latino’s in instances have a strong sense of Classism as well. Combine these two things and they don’t make for a very humble human being.
Martín | 1/26/2008, 11:32 pm EST
There are quite a lot of racist educated Latinos. Hell, have you ever set foot in Chile, Peru, Mexico, etc. Do you think they treat the Indians, Blacks, or mixed-race middle-class and poor people of those countries decently at all? The white elites never miss an opportunity to seize wealth for themselves or slaughter a few Indians if they can get away with it. There’s a reason that the Indians in Bolivia got tired of their mistreatment and elected Evo Morales, or why Venezuelans (and Venezuela has a large Black population) elected Hugo Chávez. This anti-Black racism against Obama is pretty sad, because in essence it’s empowering the very people, white people, who’ve been actively demonizing not just undocumented Latino immigrants, but Latinos in general (unless they’re white Cubans, and even then, don’t hold your breath). The person above who says he’s going to vote for Republicans really boggles the mind. They HATE you, don’t you get it? They’re not attacking undocumented immigrants from Ireland, Romania, China, or anywhere else. But they DO use images of Latinos crossing the border to raise money and whip up white racists. But I guess you’d rather have than that vote for a black man. Very, very sad.

I don’t understand why Latinos hate blacks anyway. I hate all racist people: latino, white asian, black (and I am black). I love Latino music and am currently learning Spanish. It doesn’t define one’s character, personality, nor intelligence so why harp on it???

Martin 1/26 – Wow! you hit it right on the nail. I am Puerto Rican (my husband is African American)and fortunately I see others as looking just like Puerto Ricans – negra, blanca, china, and india. Maybe that’s why I feel that the available choices of Obama and Clinton have nothing to do with “race” – they both look Puerto Rican to me. If Obama had been white I still would support him because he gives me hope that his vision for a united, healthy, progressive America is really possible today and in my lifetime. The Clintons’ (I do mean both) behavior appears to say that minority power and rights are good as long as they are the champions, and as long as it does affect their neighborhood. Over and over again they have tried to reduce Obama to simply another black man running to take white power away – instead of letting us hear the message of unity that Obama is promoting. It shames me when I see people of color “performing” for the Clintons’. I recall a movie with B Davis (Jezebel) set in the deep south and just before the civil war – In a beautiful white dress, Miss Jezebel, instructs her barefoot and ragged slaves to gather around her and sing sweet songs. That scene still shames me. So, Clintons, do not take us for granted because we are a little bit more complicated than you give us credit for.

I REPEAT, HISPANIC AND LATINO IS NOT A RACE!!
THESE ARE CULTURES!! THAT IS LIKE SAYING AMERICAN IS A RACE, IT’S NOT!
THOSE PEOPLE HAVE NO IDENTITY! NONE, EITHER THEY TRY TO COPY BLACK PEOPLE, OR THEY WANT TO BE WHITE!
THERE ARE DIFFERENT RACES WITHIN THE LATINO COMMUNITY SUCH AS BLACK, WHITE AND NATIVE!
IF YOU LEARN YOUR HISTORY, YOU WOULD KNOW THIS!
THE LATINO COMMUNITY MISTREATS THE BLACKS IN THEIR OWN COMMUNITY SO WHAT DO YOU THINK THEY ARE GOING TO COME OVER HERE AND TREAT BLACK AMERICANS ANY DIFFERENTLY? THEY ARE THE SAME AS THE KKK IN AMERICA.
LOOK UP KKK CUBANOS THAT SLAUGHTERED 6,000 BLACKS IN CUBA. THEY RACIST JUST LIKE THE WHITES HERE.

I personally will hope who ever that wins this thing will control immigration and bring the jobs that went to China and some other god-awful place back to America. As for the racism of hispanics toward blacks, I think many of them that were raced in the US need to take a history lesson of the parents and grandparents home country and recognize the fact that black blood runs through them from the slaves that were brought to those countries in South, Central America and the Carribian. The Latin music got a lot of its rhythm and flavor from Africa.

From the day I set foot in New York 25 years ago I saw right through the fascade of spanish speaking people. I am talking about those that look more like Jennifer Lopez and Mark Anthony. It’s not just the Argentineans that have the uber alles complex. Dominicans, Puerto Ricans and Chileans would all give them a run for the money. What really baffles me is this “People of Color” term that African Americans have adopted. What the hell is that? Not only would these Spanish speaking people rather not have anything to do with us, the same goes for Asians and Middle Eastern people. “People of Color” my-ass. Want to see how people of color truly are, go to Dominican Republic, or any South American country. Better yet and much easier, take a trip to Miami.
I have not doubt that there is nothing that any black politician including Obama could promise or accomplish that would bring him or her into the graces of Spanish speaking people. They would rather vote for likes of a David Duke rather that demonstrate any political affiliation to black skin person. But have not doubt, when it is all said and done they are all feasting on the spoils of the hard fought battles of black skin African Americans.

First of all, there are plenty of SO-CALLED “Puerto Ricans” like “Cruz” and God knows WHO else that seem to like making race an issue. GOOD FOR YOU. Hope you turn blue in the face from all the yelling and hissing. I am a Puerto Rican of AFRICAN descent and NO we are not racist. Some of you really have your heads up your backsides or maybe you’re just young and naive. Teach someone to hate all their lives and all they do is hate. If Obama was “white” he would STILL be held up to his words. This trick of saying that we are “too racist” to vote for someone non-white is STUPID and UNFOUNDED. The history of Latino voting shows that the opposite is true. Wonder how many non-Latinos would support a Latino for President? It didn’t seem to be a problem until we surpassed AA’s in numbers. Suddenly, there is “hostilities” between “Blacks” and “Latinos”, BULL. The issue between Mexicans and AA’s in L.A. is not our issue. We are also “BLACK”. Get over yourselves.
And to Bajan123, you are a ninny. I wouldn’t even waste two-dollar words on you. We are NOT “Spanish”. If you are SUPPOSEDLY from Barbados, you would understand MISCEGENATION and HISTORY. Apparently you are too stupid to know anything of value. You don’t even have your facts straight. How many “Bajans” don’t jump at the chance to have a “white” husband or wife? Ask yourself that question about YOUR OWN NATION. Instead of worrying about situations that don’t even have sh-t to do with you. Go marry a “redleg” and stop projecting the issues of YUR own country onto someone else’s. You sound DUMB.
Onto “Chuckie”:
“Latinos don’t care about the “400 years of oppression” or don’t see it as a reason to run a campaign.”
Are you FOR REAL? Obama is not AA, what oppression are you talking about? He wasn’t born from slavery like AA’s and many Latinos were. The only conclusion I can draw is that you think that having a “Black” president is going to solve issues facing those of African descent. A “president” presides over EVERYONE, not just AA’s. So, please. If you think I am voting for someone who is going to represent only one portion of the population, THINK AGAIN. I will continue to support Hill and Bill for office. When Obama or anyone else of color steps up asa candidate, they had best be ready to stand for ALL OF US, not just a few.
And if you were halfway-smart you would’ve realized that the majority of Africans in the Americas are NOT in the U.S. We may not have a “Black” president (save for Hugo), but NEITHER DO YOU. Furthermore, african slavery existed until 1888 in Brazil and 1873 in Puerto Rico. We don’t understand oppression?? We were invaded by your wonderful “slaveowners” and treated like crap top this day. PICK UP A BOOK and SHUT OFF B.E.T. Learn to read history of OTHER PEOLE so that you would know what the heck you are even talking about.

This is just propaganda to incite more issues. Obama does have Latino support. But, without experience, why should we even vote for him? I wouldn’t base any decisions like this on race.
It is ridiculous to think that Latinos, who have experienced slavery at greater magnitudes than African Americans (U.S.) simply don’t understand “oppression”. That doesn’t even make any sense and is arrogant and self-centered at best. It’s like playing the victim while fleecing the government coffers of welfare monies that come from those who are in this country to work at any cost.
I find it interesting that African Americans feel that we are stealing their jobs, when they make more money than most of us. Yeah, seems like racist propoganda to divide and conquer an already-burgeoning group of people.
It is interesting how every time a supposed “Black” person online (I think it’s probably some prankster) brings up issues that face THEM and then use THAT to compare us or view us. No wonder they’ll never figure us out.

A shame that some people like to place their insecurities on others. So you are Black. And? I am Black too. I’m Cuban. What does that have to do with getting along with others. I find that fact all the more interesting because in terms of voting record Obama is clearly the better choice for Latinos and Asians. The voting record shows that Clinton voted against allowing immigrants to stay in America while their visa renewal paperwork is being processed, but Obama voted in favor of letting them stay. That’s a hugely important issue to Latinos, Asians, and Indians. Its one that, I think prettclearly, shows that Obama is the better candidate in terms of policy for other minorities and immigrants, but they are not supporting him.
We understand that Obama want’s this country to come together. We have to get pass our differences and move on how are we going to be effective to the world. The whole entire world is watching us as an example . I believe that there needs to be change in the white house quickly. Please folks get it in your head that this man is bringing the people together. That’s what it is all about. But folks look around change is coming and is approaching very fast. This man is clearly the voice for minorities and white’s everywhere not just for African Americans. Please folks open your minds and please do not be ignorant because ignorance is a lack of knowledge.

latinos, persons of hispanic heritage and those of spanish-speaking cultures are the most racist beings i’ve ever encounted. not to mention, they are very racist towards blacks and even darker skinned latinos/hispanics. i’ve been with enough latinas to know this. in fact, my ex-girlfriend admit to this when we happen to discuss the topic. the funny thing is her mom was fine with our relationship until she found out i wasn’t Dominican. i’m black but could pass hispanic and i aggressively embrace my African-ness and for some reason my ex-friend wasn’t exactly delighted to say the least. i honestly feel hispanics in general wouldn’t support a black candidate to save their lives. they worship whiteness. now i figure most of this stuff living in NYC and my ex-girlfriend confirmed that it was very true. she’s an exception of course. afterall, she’s a dark-skinned Dominican.

The word minority describes a smaller group within a larger one. It tends to marginalize persons in both groups separating them, unbinding the fragile thread that binds us all together. Elections and ideology aside we must remain a UNITED country. Those with certain agendas always attempt to divide the down trotten. Americans of African descent have been scapegoats for almost every emerging new comer. We have been held up against Americans of Asian (the Model Minority) descent and now Americans of Latin descent.
Truth be told we all are not much different. Almost all Americans came from places we would not wish to live in again. We shook off the ignorance, indifference, the oppression, corruption and discrimination of the governments of our former home lands and have attempted to make a better way here.
No matter who is the Democratic nominee and no matter who places that person in that position. That person will have to mend the divisions that have started to separate those of us in this country but in the world as well.
This election is about that need for a change and an eventual end to the War overseas and to avoid a potential War among ourselves here at home. Vote your conscience.

latinos dont vote for blacks because they see white people as thier key to economic freedom(jobs, citizenship)and blacks as competition for jobs traditionally
went to blacks via the slave trade and its fallout.
Xalibur | 3/9/2008, 12:07 am EST
Hispanics are racist indeed. Why? They have an inferiority complex. They wish they were white (some think they are so close and yet …). They detest the blackness part of themselves, and transfer that hatred against the blacks. Pretty pathetic and sad. And puzzling. What is it that makes them feel superior to Blacks? Look, if being subject to exploitation is a sign of inferiority, you my Latino brothers are in the same boat. Look, even the language you speak is not your ancestors but that of the European exploiters of your ancestors.
Xalibur | 3/9/2008, 12:09 am EST
What is it that makes Latinos feel superior to Blacks? Whatever whiteness you think you have in yourself, it is all due to the rape the invaders committed against your ancestors. So why feel superior to another race also exploited?! Pretty sad if you are Hispanic and you do. Sad. Sad also that Clinton is benefitting from such a sad situation.
Melanie | 3/9/2008, 7:54 pm EST
The last few posters sound like dark-skin people with inferiority complexes. I understand you won’t come out of your shell. It is quite comfortable to live with a BRAND on your soul. I am Latina and I love everyone. I am also Black and I love my culture. I am not racist, nor am I a victim. I am beautiful and I see myself as such. I will draw only the gentle spirits to me while the rest lay in their mental delusions.
Melanie | 3/9/2008, 8:04 pm EST
Another thing, African Americans didn’t even know who the heck Obama was in the beginning, nor did they even believe him to be Black enough. Meanwhile, Latinos stuck with Hillary for many reasons oblivious to some of Obama’s “fans”. These people come onto internet forums with an AGENDA already in place… they want you to understand and admire their hate towards themselves. If they were not hateful of the, selves, they would be a bit more cheery about life.
What is happening in Los Angeles does not involve every Latino in the U.S. But, because many who come on here talk from their agenda platform, it becomes difficult to see the forest for the trees.
Latinos love Hillary. Just because YOU don’t does it mean that you have to launch a hatred towards a people who are originally FROM this land. If you understand what it is like to be down-trodden there should be no issue. Sometimes there is cultural barriers that many of us refuse to cross. But, we won’t be able to break down doors if we don’t try. People will always come out ignorant, but if we stick to a higher goal… we can create coalitions. There may be many reasons why the issues between Mexicans and African-Americans has intensified… but we cannot give up on solidarity. Acting out of victimhood is not beneficial for anyone of us.

I am african american and have nothing against latinos. I am very surprised that they do not support Obama. I just learned of the racial hostility between the 2 races. It is a wide majority of white people that are racist against hispanics and latinos. Black people want you to stay in this country but alot of white people don’t want you here. It’s very sad and I want to reach out to the hispanic/latino people so that black people could understand why we are disliked by hispanics. I hope I didn’t offend anyone. I truely don’t know where the hostility stems from, someone please fill me in. Even though the majority of hispanics support Hillary that doesn’t take away any of the respect I have for hispanic/latinos.
YURI ORTIz | 4/19/2008, 4:55 pm EST
I am a first generation american. My mother is dominican and my father is puerto rican.
Ive read most of the comments about this issue and why are hispanics voting for hilary then obama.
FIRST OFF i have to say this in every culture in every race you will find some one some where who is racist it is INEVITABLE!
BUT THE AMERICANS ARE COMPLETELY STEREOTYPING THE LATINO COMMUNITY!!!!
TO THINK THAT the REASON MOST LATINOS/HISPANICS are voting for hilary is because there racist is ABSURD!!!! yes there is no doubt that some of the latino people who did vote in the primaries were voting for race yes that too is inevitable. but its stupid to think that all of us latinos voted that way.
you dont see people saying oh more african americans are voting for obama so that means their racist against white people.
WHEN WILL THE PEOPLE OF THE UNITED STATES STOP BRINGING UP THE RACE CARD!!!!!!!!!!?????
you people try to analylize everything you think that we MUST be voting for hilary cuz we dont like obama who is black. WHICH INFACT HE’s ONLY HALF BLACK!! u think “how can this be obama is for the illegal immigrants staying in the united states he wants there people to stay here, so that must mean that the hispanic ppl dont want a black president” THE MEDIA, THE PEOPLE OF THIS COUNTRY is the RACIST ONE HERE.
you AUTOMATIACALLY think that beacuse we are latino because we are hispanic we care about the ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS AND IMMIGRATION dont you think thats a little racist.
to thinkthat because us latinos didnt vote for the delegate that is most better for the illegal immigrant, were racist the racists one are yourselves.
I AM 18 i feel like my genereation will be more open and wise then this generation. I AM A TRU DEMOCRATE BOTH HILARY AND OBAMA ARE GOOD CANDIDATES THERE GREAT!!!! AND I WILL BE HAPPY WITH EITHER OF THEM!!! so for u so called tru democrats who say oh if hilary wins i will vote for mccain or if obama wins ill vote for mccain, YOUR NOT TRU DEMOCRATS! who cares if shes a bitch or if hes black your voting not for there personality but for what they are bringing to the table to help this country be a better place.
YES EVERYONES A RACIST! if you ve never made a racist comment or judged someone for what they look like or anything like that you can attack me and attack wat i said go ahead.
but i for what its worth i am not disagreeing with the people who say lations are racist YES SOME ARE!!! just as there is in every race!
YURI ORTIz | 4/19/2008, 5:06 pm EST
also i didnt want what i said to get misconstrued yes immigration is important to us latinos but so is health care so is education, so are jobs, etc. so please ppl be more wise to think that were voting soly for immigration is sterotypical.
oh also for the person who had a dominican ex gf who mothere liked him til she found out he was black…THINK ABOUT THIS LATINOS ARE THE MOST ARROGANT AND PROUDEST PPL you’ll ever meet and we dont like mixing up the race that is tru. and dont act like its not the same for other races look at the jewish ppl who dont want there children to marry a non jew or the black family who doesnt want the daughter to marry a white man. ITS a PRIDE PREFERENCE! call it racisim but that is the way life is… latinos for one want to stay tru latinos and have latino grandchildren. i think mainly its because of understanding our culture. We dont want to mix it up with some one who is not latino because they are not like us and we dont want someone to judge our way of life. We dont want to someone in the family that will not understand this culture etc. so that is probably the main reason why latino ppl dont like to mix it up.
tanya | 4/23/2008, 7:52 am EST
to the guy who said something about darkskinned people that was stupid you don’t know the race of people on this board but i’m going to tell you who iam black and i’m one of the people who is voting to keep illegals out the country i’m american now that makes me better then an illegal ha ha ha how you like that who cares latinos know blacks can’t stand them they only voting for clinton because they are jelous of us this election proves it all
Raul | 5/7/2008, 8:45 pm EST
I’m voting for Obama and i’m Latino. there are a lot of Latinos voting for Obama and a bunch of you who replied to this post are bias. There is racism in other countries! that’s just the sad truth. TANYA is being very bias is her post because the first amendment let’s her do so, but it also let’s me tell her that she’s a bias bitch! and no, your not better than anyone talking like that. The truth is that a lot of people don’t know anything about immigration and instead of informing them selfs the right way by doing research, they just listen to the media and accept lies. INFORM yourself first! than make a decision to whether is a good thing or a bad thing. politicians will also fill your head with stupid facts instead of the 10 other facts that are really good. I’m voting for Obama and I’m NOT racist and I have nothing against Clinton I just like Obama better.
panama600 | 5/10/2008, 7:58 pm EST
I dont understand why latinos consider themselves a race in the first place when they vary in race in culture depending on region. second Obama is the only canidate to recongnize the struggle of Afro-latinos specifically in the choco region of colombia. see the lack knowlegede of self destroys our future LATINOS know your history and stop the following the rascist SPANISh doctrine!

Before civil rights most latinos called themselves white. After African Americans got bombed and killed for the right to be humans. Latinos suddenly invented their culture to reap the benefits of the african american struggle. Today they call themselves white and spew racism against african american. But i assure you that the door the white man opened for latinos in the name of racism against African Americans is the same door that will be used against him. Take a look at Miami and california. Of yes, America is a prelude to bosnia. Thus beckons to the story of life. What we do will come back to you.
P-lo | 6/3/2008, 6:37 am EST
So Chris Fox- did you LIVE at that time to know?
“Before civil rights most latinos called themselves white.”
It is easy to come online and say whatever you want to say with no one knowing who you are. Get a life. What you are in is not reality. For WHATEVER reasons Latinos voted for Hillary, it is a valid reason. Just as you have a valid reason to vote for Obama or McCain. You sitting here angrily bashing others whose opinion is not like yours is completely unproductive. If I were you, I’d be nice to Hillary’s supporters. They are the ones you need to get to the finish line, buddy. Or, did you think this was it??
Anonymous | 6/7/2008, 11:02 pm EST
Latino is not even a race, geniuses! This whole debate is invalid because a hispanic can be of any race just like an English speaking person can be white, black, or mulatto, etc… There are white hispanics, black hispanics, mulattos and mestizos. There is no such thing as a latino “race”.
Linda | 6/12/2008, 7:04 pm EST
I am an American, a daughter, a wife, a mother, a friend a neighbor who happens to be African American. I support Obama because it’s time for politicians to put the needs of this country and its diverse population of people, no matter what the creed, first. I am proud of this young generation, for they have made this political race a movement of change and Obama was the tool which this new computer age and sophisticated generation used inspite of the underhanded tricks of division they saw through it all. We are Americans trying to reclaim our very dignity so enough with the petty stuff. We all want to live and live abundantly – peace out.
jesse the latino | 9/7/2008, 12:18 am EST
first of all for thoses black people who feel so proud about obama obama is not fullblack so if many white people are voting for obama is because obama half white part black man dont like black women no more and i know why cause black women are ugly lololol

This really annoys me. First off it pisses me off to be called “racist” because I don’t like Obama (I guess you must be a sexist if you don’t like Hillary too eh, oh wait you dont like her so no Rollingstone stop playing the race card for Obama and get on something relevant), I actually look at issues and Hillary was more qualified, and Chris Fox you are EXTREMELY wrong when it came to hispanics being considered white like 40 years ago my grandparents called labeled white on their birth certificate and they were pissed, Hispanic is a large demographic, but if you call us white it’s offensive.

Knowledge is power. Most not all latinos are looking for affiliation in the white society. Take a good look at the main latinos tvs, you rarely or never see a black or even close to black anchors. In their soaps, blacks are mostly servants or inexistant. Dont get me wrong, i understant their struggle, but if they hold hand with blacks, both latinos and blacks can accomplish a lot. But the white men will never let that happen. Divide to conquer.
tica | 9/29/2008, 9:16 pm EST
I am black woman and there is racism in the latin community. Its more in the mexican community than any other. simply the understanding of the african american community. Its also due to jealousy that a black man may be president and not a hispanic or latino. But realize that african american people made it possible for them to have the things they have today. We sacrificed our lives in civil
rights struggle not the latin communnity.and until recently some passed for whites and changed there names. So read up on your facts.
VL | 10/2/2008, 1:19 am EST
plain & simple…we cant be mad at them for hating us if we hate ourselves AA’s.Hispanics stick together and we dont and thats gonna always be our downfall.we paved the way for every immigrant to step foot on this soil and we did jobs that the white man refused for many years.we built this country and we’ve been here since the beginning and will be here until the fall and after.get use to us were here to stay just like ya’ll.
Sad For You | 10/12/2008, 4:03 am EST
Just looking at the comments from fatuous Latinos leads me to believe the article has lots of credence. I am embarrassed for all you simple minded Hispanics. You are NOT White and never will be; unless your annual family income exceeds $250,000 a year it makes little sense to vote for McCain. Vaya con dios, Obama is on a trajectory where he doesn’t need taco eaters anyways!
ALatino | 10/19/2008, 4:04 pm EST
I voted for Hillary in the primaries, but now im voting for Obama. Recent polls show that the Latino voters will vote for Obama. Also why do you make it sound like Latinos had nothing to do with the civil rights movement. You should read on Corky Gonzales he was right next to MLK during the Civil Rights movement. Your right we were labeled as white but were still discrimanted on. We fought in the Vietnam war, even in the Civil War. But i bet you’ve never have heard of this. That because like the African-American community our history has been hidden and erased. You will never find us in history books we have been overlooked. We have been present in everywar the US has been. Even in the Mexican-American war. Here someone said we suddenly sprung up with a culture. Well thats a lie. Read history weve had a culture ever since the south west was part of Mexico. Do your research cause most of it has been hiding to aid the internalized oppresion that hispanic/latinos have to go thorugh everyday. I also think racims goes both ways, both sides are gulty of Racism.

Im also disgusted at being called a taco eater. Here you are complaining that were racist. Then you go and make racist comments. Talk about being a Hypocrite. That why i think both sides are guilty of racism. In order to do a greater good we need to make a positive change in ourselves first. Thats what i have learned for my Psychology of Prejudice class. I wish people were required to take such classes.

I would like to respond to respond to YOURI ORITz and her comment that people in America should stop playing the race card. The United States is a racist culture and society because America historical exzistance is racist. And to respond to the topic i would like to add that i do not think all latinos are racist but i know that the Mexican Mafia in LA and the white cubans in Miammi are very racist towards all black/ brown people. Not just Black Americans. Even though the Mexican Mafia claims they are Brown mexican people the people on the top are not. But hoever there is racism among surton segments of Latino America because within surten parts of latin America racism is practist towards the black afro population and the dark Indian population. i am not a black American however i know within Hispanic America color discrimanation is practied. because i am a black afro Ecudorian and have seferd and indored much hate and discrimanation from the white miso Latino popluation.
