A Lott To Be Thankful For?

11/26/07, 1:34 pm EST

There’s got to be a back story, but whatever the circumstances it’s a good day when a racist gasbag like Trent Lott says he’s resigning by the end of the year.

‘racist gasbag’ – i like that term – it’s saucy…

Delta Wild Man | 11/26/2007, 3:37 pm EST

Yep, there is a back story here, and I know what it is..
It seems that ole Trent backed the wrong horse a year or so back and got he knows it’s going to catch up to him come re-election time..
See, the good people of Mississippi are just like a lot of people all over this wonderful Nation we call home, They Don’t Want Any Type Of Amnesty For Illegal Aliens!!
Now Trent backed ole John McCain on his Screw What The American People Want We’re Going To Pass A Amnesty Bill Anyhow, move, and now he’s looking right down the barrel of The People Of Mississippi Are Going To Show You Who’s Going To Screw Who Vote!!
Besides, if he resigns within the a year, he’ll have less than 12 months to wait before he can start making the big money in Washington D.C. by becoming a Lobbyist!!
Now if anyone would like to deny that this is The Truth, The Whole Truth, and Nuttin Butt Da Truth, I’d like for dem to stand ups and says they peace right now!!

Delta Wild Man | 11/26/2007, 3:39 pm EST

racist gasbag??
is that the same as a senator byrd??

Delta Wild Man | 11/26/2007, 4:37 pm EST

How about bank robbers and rapists?? need to let them do their thing too??

Coach | 11/26/2007, 6:25 pm EST

Reality makes a good point. Delta, however, makes the same mistake most people who are hiding some sort of racism or elitism make. That is this: Undocumented immigrants get lumped into the same category as ‘bank robbers and rapists’. Their crime is literally being here. How, in anybody’s dream world, is that the same as raping someone or robbing someone?

This is a wedge issue, plain and simple. That’s why the term ‘illegal’ is put in front instead of undocumented, so as to upset the ‘legals’.

We all need to know that of the 12 or so million ‘illegal’ immigrants, half of them have had their applications expire. Not work visas. Not green cards. APPLICATIONS. So, let me see: Half of them do their part by filling out the application, then are called illegal when that application expires without ever being looked at…….

Yes, RealityBlows, that sounds like an administrative problem to me…

checklist | 11/26/2007, 7:17 pm EST

thats another person down on my list. Keep em coming!

Jed Clampett | 11/26/2007, 7:20 pm EST

trent can now enjoy his position as a senior advisor for a major defense contractor. He will be handsomely paid for showing up once or twice a week with a 5 months paid vacation. Hell, no wonder people raise millions and millions to get into office, it’s merely a stepping stone to bigger better things… like CEO of a battlefield services company.

delta can’t hardly be considered human as ate up with demons as he is. Racism and bigotry are merely feathers on that beasts hat.

Delta Wild Man | 11/26/2007, 7:29 pm EST

Then racism and bigotry is what I’m full of, just like the other 85% to 90% of the rest of us Americans.
Boy, we “show” do like our racism and bigotry, don’t we??

Translation? | 11/26/2007, 7:41 pm EST

DWM, what are you talking about?

Jed Clampett | 11/26/2007, 7:45 pm EST

he has an overactive imagination and thinks that over 90? of americans are as stupid as him, rather than totally nuance in countless ways.
Makes him a little less lonely in front of his terminal.

resigning from what? | 11/26/2007, 7:48 pm EST

“Lott said that he was going to move into the private sector”

Hate to break this to you guys, but he will be just as influential/harmful as a ‘private contractor’ hired for ‘consultant work’ by ‘good friends’ in the defense industry.

Delta Wild Man | 11/26/2007, 10:03 pm EST

I’d be happy to live with the outcome of those votes.

Would the poor mountaineer who barely kept his family fed, mind living with the results of that vote?

Just another repub running out the door after scamming lots of $$ from the country’s lobbyists. There’ll be a lot of those in the next few months with the change of “leaders” in the white house coming up.

Trent is a bigot. We REALLY won’t miss him.

DirtyDennis | 11/27/2007, 3:47 pm EST

Wild Thing,

Reading your posts I am mindful of Don Quixote, sans the benevolence and humanity. You tilt crazily at windmills thinking them dragons. Perhaps I’m wrong. Perhaps you’re taking TOO much of your medicine. Self medication can be a trial, this I know.

It’s difficult to argue with the premise of your assertion(s). That’s because you frame them narrowly, within your own constructs and to suit your ends. Certainly, majority rule in its purest form is probably the best form of gov’t currently available to us. However, a majority of the South thought slavery and segregation was all right. And when the federal gov’t stepped in, their response was war. The absurdity of the South’s position was that most of the people FOR slavery didn’t own slaves. Go figure.

It would appear you are espousing the lowest common denominator. If the majority of the people are mean, vicious and cruel, we should ALL be mean, vicious and cruel? And if the majority of the people are easily misled? Susceptible to propaganda? What then? The rest of us have no recourse save to follow the lead lemming over the cliff?

While your ‘argument(s)’ hold up well in your presentation, they don’t hold up so well when you stand back and take a broader look at them. It would seem that there’s some other, vital ingredient necessary to manage this whole business of gov’t. Common sense? Benevolence? Humanity? I don’t have the answer. I ‘believe’ it’s something like that but I also DON’T believe humanity, and certainly not gov’ts, are capable of benevolence and humanity. Common sense is iffy as well.

DirtyDennis | 11/27/2007, 3:50 pm EST

Wild Thing,

As for a ‘majority’ of Americans being ‘against’ illegal immigration, I’m curious as to how you’re privy to such information. If you have some remarkable insight not available to the rest of us, I think you’re doing the world a disservice by not sharing. Scrooge.

Bender | 11/27/2007, 3:50 pm EST

WildMan?: “Well second hand smoke is bad for the people around you.. Says You..
I’ve never seen anyone fall over dead because of MY SECOND HAND SMOKE.”

Four words for you my friend: Don’t be an idiot.

Informed | 11/27/2007, 4:35 pm EST

FYI: The best research to date has second hand smoke causing about 4 more deaths from cancer/lung related illness per million(or hundred thousand, I can’t recall exactly), up from I think 10. That is statistical noise. In a nut shell, so far all evidence says that second hand smoke is insignificantly harmful.

My source on this one is research and then follow up legal resolution cited from an episode from Penn and Tellers BS(cant even say the name without my comment being moderated). My links always get filtered, so you’ll have to search yourself.

Delta Wild Man | 11/27/2007, 5:31 pm EST

Well, I see we missed the whole point again.
Must have been that silvery shine to that second hand smoke comment.

Folks, I quit smoking over 6 months ago because I could feel the Smoking Nazis breathing down my neck, and Besides, Those bad habits we don’t quit in our 30s & 40s will end up killing us in our 50s & 60s.

Read what you wish into my post,
I’ll not debate slavery or desegregation in this post because at the very best, it’s off topic and I’m finding it harder to get past the censures that have been put in place to prevent this type of debate.
However, If you wish to look, The Federal Governments ability to set the price of cotton did have a great deal more to do with our civil war that most will admit.
Slavery became obsolete when slavery became too expensive. i.e
Farm Tractors, Mechanized Farm Machinery.
One does not need to read between the lines to know the truth, one only has to look at the time line of the aforementioned introduction into the farming community and What dates certain Amendments were made to the Constitution.
As far as desegregation, Look at the results of before and of after and look at the wishes of the people of all colors..
I am not seeing a Re-segregation in the South, I’m seeing it in the Liberal Strongholds.

DirtyDennis | 11/27/2007, 6:51 pm EST

You, my friend, are as blind as your ancestors. And just as afraid of the truth as they. Off topic? There IS no off topic on this site. If you’re being censored, and I have my doubts about that, it’s ’cause you use certain buzz words, words, I might add, that have no basis in logic for being censored. But learn the words and learn to work around the restrictions. Lord knows, you’ve had enough practice, working around the truth.

Delta Wild Man | 11/27/2007, 11:25 pm EST

Look it up. I’ve given you the wheres and whens. All you need to do is look.
Google If You Must

DirtyDennis | 11/28/2007, 8:40 am EST

Look up what? Delusional?

Delta Wild Man | 11/28/2007, 11:53 am EST

DD
I must have struck a nerve, your not even open to facts or even willing to find them.
So, Let’s BOTH back up, take a deep breath, and
What have you got to be THANKFUL for??
I’m pretty happy about knowing just how to flip your switches

DirtyDennis | 11/29/2007, 9:21 am EST

Wild Thing,

I don’t have switches, I have buttons. I DO have a funny bone, and you stimulate that often.

Delta Wild Man | 11/29/2007, 9:29 am EST

DD
That is what I try to Stimulate the most.
Make things funny and try and get a point across.
