In Case You Missed It

11/19/07, 1:43 pm EST

The Nobel Peace Prize-sharing Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change released their Summary for Policy Makers over the weekend.

It’s worth reading in full. But this tid-bit jumped out at me:

There is high agreement and much evidence that mitigation actions can result in near-term co-benefits (e.g. improved health due to reduced air pollution) that may offset a substantial fraction of mitigation costs.

Addressing global warming is not just good for the planet, it’s good for our health.

When is everyone going to wake up and smell the roses??

All this ” Global Warming ” stuff is just another way for “GOVERNMENTS” to generate money and consolidate power.
Why wouldn’t the United Nations want to support the idea that global warming is man made??
Gives them a chance to take over,,,,
Impose some taxes,,,
Obtain some Authority,,,,
CONSOLODATE DA POWER!!!!!!!

Can I get an AY-MEHUN!!

We got’s to have us a WORLD GUBMENT, to protect us from ourselves!!
And guess who’s stepping up to da pump??
You got it,, the UN!!
What, you may ask is a UN??
Well a UN is two letters that you put in front of just about any word to make it something opposite..
Here’s an example..
Take the word Democratic, add our two little letters.. and you’ve got
( UN-Democratic )
Now let’s use the word “Intelligent”. Now, let’s do our little trick to see what happens..
UN+Intelligent=Unin telligent
Something we’d be by giving the United Nations any authority over us.

Pheisty | 11/20/2007, 12:15 am EST

Too bad it won’t be good for our pocketbooks, eh?

Bender | 11/20/2007, 12:56 pm EST

Delta and Pheisty: You guys are way off.
First of all: How is the U.N. supposed to be effective when the world’s foremost superpower acts on its own?
Secondly: Going green WILL line your pocketbooks. Imagine not paying for gas. Imagine not paying for electricity. Electric cars and solar panels….

So, doesn’t adding 3-6 grand or more a year to your ‘pocketbook’ equate to lining your pockets??

Climate change is no joke. Especially when you wake up one day and realize that you just can’t physically live where you’ve lived for 50 years. It’s too hot. Then, I guess, and only then, will people actually admit that we’re phucking up the environment…….

Delta Wild Man | 11/20/2007, 3:21 pm EST

Now why would the united nations over estimate the amount of people who have aids on the planet, by millions??

Let’s first think about what it costs to treat someone with aids in a third world country..
Anyone want to know how to make a few QUICK BILLION DOLLARS??
Remember,, Oil For Food never happened,, the united nations is known for efficiency.. ( wink, wink, nod, nod, )
That’s why we want to give the united nations power to tax all vessels who use our oceans..

Behold,, another reason, in a long list of reasons not to trust the united nations..
With Global Warming elevated to this dire Planetary emergency that has recently been done, by the united nations, within the next few years, I’m expecting another
” OOOPS ‘ from the united nations..
Well the last few “OOPS” that the united nations has had happen, has cost the AMERICAN TAX PAYERS billions..

Once again, the actions the united nations has deemed acceptable, to solve a problem has been given the united nations stamp of approval making it
UN-ACCEPTABLE to intelligent Americans!!

Bender
With respects of course

Bottom Line | 11/20/2007, 6:10 pm EST

DeltaDingy: What the heck did you just describe? A miscalculation of the spread of a disease? How, in anybody’s fantasy world, is that the same thing as the amount of emissions emitted into the air being the same as the pre-ice age levels?
Bender made great points about the ineffectiveness of the U.N., and why it’s so ineffective.
You keep ripping the U.N., but won’t seem to recognize that ANY organization, without the current superpower’s assistance, is NOT going to be effective.

Bender: Great points about how much going green can line your own pockets……I completely agree.

Doesn’t it seem like the conservatives, who keep blocking government subsidies in the solar industry, would be all for keeping money in people’s pockets???

Bottom
Google the hottest years on record. Might find out this ain’t one of them, ain’t even close

Bottom Line | 11/21/2007, 11:51 am EST

Delta: Are you denying that we’re spewing carbon into the air and reaching the last levels of the last ice age??

You sure will do anything to equate climate change with the pet rock, won’t you…..

And, Delta, even if it is just self-fulfilling hysteria, doesn’t it make sense to stop spewing crap into the air?

DWM,

I haven’t heard any reputable scientist state that the world’s going to heat up overnight. In fact, most will/can not predict events, for the short term at least. What they all seem to agree upon is a) the long term will see global warming and b) the short term, whatever that might be is unknown. What TRUE scientists say is there will be global CHANGE. What the Right says is warming.

One ‘change scenario’ I’ve heard is the gulf stream altering its path which will put a sudden chill on England and Europe. But who cares about them folks, they’re just part of humanity, part of the UN that you love to loathe. And just WHY is the UN so feckless as you so routinely point out? Perhaps because the ‘super powers’ use it as a political toy for their own geo-political ends.

Maybe, just maybe, if the U.S. actually tried to HELP the UN, the success rate might be a tad better. Your reactionary instincts won’t allow you to see reality, but here it is:

Once upon a time, ‘we’ were hunter/gatherers, but life was precarious. We organized into groups believing that the whole was greater than the sum of the parts. Villages were created, tribes, towns, all governing themselves for the greater good. Mistakes were made, but ‘we’ got ‘better.’ Then city states were formed. Finally, countries.

All along the way there were reactionaries fighting against the direction mankind was taking. They fought, they lost and when they saw that this was good, they said, “Okay, but no more.” As long as there are folks (you?) with their heads stuck in the sand, and others with their hand in your pocket, mankind will not be ready for the next level of evolution. But it will come, hopefully soon enough to stop what also appears to be inevitable, global CHANGE.

Bottom
I was shocked to find out I may agree with you on your last post..
Who are we to say who get’s nuclear weapons, and who does not??
If Iran wants nukes,, then by god, let’s give them nukes!!
Let Israel share a few of their nukes with Iran while we’re at it..
So Bottom, how do you propose we deliver them there nukes??
ICBM Express or B-52 Priority??

I can tell you what Israel is going to do,
Everything within their power to stop Iran, stop Iran at all costs..
Even if that cost is firing every nuclear bomb they have off at every threat that exists in the middle east..
And Bottom Line, you know good and well Israel will do it and wont think twice about doing it..

I watched a lot of collage football this weekend,
One game had over 75,000 people in the stadium..
It’s kind of scary when I think what “COULD” happen, with all our OPEN BORDERS & Rights of those who are not even suppose to be here in the first place.
It’s a good thing our parents and grand parents fought World War 2, because if we Politically Correct citizens of today would have fought it, we’d be singing the praises of Hitler.

We got people saying that People are the reason our planet is warming,
We’re destroying our planet!!
Well, wouldn’t you think that LESS PEOPLE would slow down Global Warming??
Some folks are getting abortions to save the planet, and giving up their ability to have children, to save the planet..
Let’s say that Israel “ABORTS” 150 million muslims, with a nuclear scalpel??

If them UN-Sanctions don’t work with Iran, we will find out!!

DirtyDennis | 11/27/2007, 12:40 pm EST

Wild Thing,

Pray tell, which “other people’s war” have YOU fought?
