Clinton: Let’s Chat; I’ll Provide the Questions

11/10/07, 11:12 pm EST

Is our children learning? Maybe not. But president Bush seems to have taught Senator Clinton a thing or two about how to hold a Potemkin town hall: Clinton Camp Admits To Planting Questions

My favorite bit — the Clinton camp couldn’t even fess up straight: “A Clinton aide initially denied the claim in the story, but the campaign later told The Associated Press some parts were true.”

UPDATE: Oh, gee. Surprise. This wasn’t the first time.

EARLIER: Clinton camp plants “homemade” signs.

UPDATE II: Edwards goes there: “People expect you to stand in front of them and answer their hard questions — and they expect it to be an honest process. What George Bush does is plant questions and exclude people from events, and I don’t think that’s what Democrats want to see in Iowa.”

Tim, keep up the great work regarding Shillary. Finally, as if the gods decided that Americans see her for exactly what she is, her campaign is unraveling. It’s about time.

Her insistence on not answering “hypotheticals” – something W just said in Crawford standing next to Sarkozy – is not for the sake of avoiding to deal with things that might not happen but, instead, illustrates an unwillingness to say something that will be proved incorrect over time. The less she talks about the future and how she’s going to deal with it, the more obvious it is she is no leader. Who’s she kidding? Leading specifically concerns hypotheticals.

Now that her minions have been caught planting “journalists” – like the Administration did – and then lying about it, she’s got no leg to stand on concerning integrity. How can she criticize the right when more often than not she has acted as if she’s on the right?

Her vote to brand the Iranian guards terrorists proves she’s got a streak of Neocon in her. And if – God forbid – she was to win, this country would be in horrible shape. Please, Americans, vote for a candidate who will help bring about the change we so desperately need, but don’t whatever you do vote for Hillary.

I wish you people would quit picking on Hirrary Crinton,,,, oops,, I mean Hillary Clinton..

Last night on the news,, a 3 year old girl from Maine asked Hillary what she thought about the conflict we are having with the Muslims in the middle east and how she thinks it’s going to effect the racial tensions here at home..
Then a 18 month old boy ask Hillary what she planned on doing about the weakening dollar and the costs of subsidizing the cattle industry in Montana..
Before the night was over a chocolate lab asked what Hillary thought regarding the national debt and how, if elected she planned on eliminating it and implementing all her social programs she’s promised.

Tim,

Unless I’m mistaken, yesterday was Veteran’s Day. Unless I’m mistaken, we’re still quaged in that mire called Iraq. And I KNOW I’m not mistaken that most of the threads herein are about Rudy, Ron Paul and other totally irrelevant matters. Who gives a rat’s ptui about them?

Maybe, just maybe, if more attention was given to issues that REALLY matter and not the faux questions posed to Hillary or Rudy’s friends or Paul’s attraction, maybe, just maybe, something positive will ensue. You have to hold politicians feet to the fire if you want to get their attention. Pandering to them with fluff pieces is NOT going to get their attention.

I was reading that because of the advanced ‘care’ provided our soldiers that less die, but more need ongoing medical treatment. The upshot will be that that treatment will cost more than the prosecution of hostilities. The war could end tomorrow (it won’t) and we’ll be paying the debt for it, at least our children will, for a hundred years. Unless, of course, we have another dot com phenomenon but you can’t ‘bank’ on those kinds of events.

The NYT reports that half a million veterans are homeless and the situation is expected to worsen, what with the guys having to spend more and longer tours and the piss-poor mental health care they receive when they return. Many of those who served in the National Guard are finding their jobs are gone when they come home or that the don’t merit raises and/or seniority.

I’m an outspoken critic of the military but JESUS H CHRIST, if you’re going to put folks in harm’s way, CARE for them. Care for them before, during and after. And hold those responsible for the care accountable. If you want impeachable offense (and how come there hasn’t been a peep out of Kucinich’s (?) resolution of impeachment herein) then how about what’s happening to our soldiers?

Paul and/or Rudy would be a disaster but that’s a year away. Let’s talk about the here and now. FOCUS!!

Tim,

I believed you called me last week. I have more to say, I think. Give me a call at the same number.

Jason

Even our flags are attacking her.
Good God,, this woman must be the Anti-Christ!!

All,

It would seem MCP has found yet another word or words it doesn’t like in my text. It’s couldn’t POSSIBLY be my content OR my complaints to Tim. Could it? Anyway, I’m going to have to parse out my post to see if I can uncover the error of my ways. I apologize for ‘burning a tree.’

DirtyDennis | 11/13/2007, 8:44 am EST

Expand your horizons Dems. Think. Stop with this self-bashing. Bash the Cons. Why not Hillary now, Edwards next and Obana after? Why focus on one election? CREATE something. Unite, focus and attack.

DirtyDennis | 11/13/2007, 8:47 am EST

Does Hillary have baggage? Name me someone who does not.

DirtyDennis | 11/13/2007, 8:48 am EST

If we’re gonna get hung up on perfection for our candidates, we’re screwed. In the words of that venerable ‘possum Pogo, “I have seen the enemy and it is us.” Well, I hate to remind fellow bleeding-heart liberals, but the enemy is THEM.

DirtyDennis | 11/13/2007, 8:49 am EST

And don’t b-u-y (MCP doesn’t like that word. Go figure.) into all that crap about polarization being bad for the country. BULL!! That’s just what the Cons want everyone to think so there won’t be any dissent to their global ambitions.

DirtyDennis | 11/13/2007, 8:49 am EST

And just WHY are we ‘polarized?’ Check the programs of Reagan/Bush/Bush (RBB). Check the wars of expansion, the ‘outsourcing’ of jobs, the corruption, the budget deficit, the trade deficit, the disproportionate wealth. Hell, you have to be an idiot or a vegetable NOT to become polarized.

Polarize the SH*T out of this country. Shine the light of truth and reason into every dark corner and expose the rats that lurk there for what they are: vermin. But please, enough of this candidate bashing. It’s demeaning, it’s divisive and it ensures that the Cons will continue merrily on their way, raping this planet and its inhabitants.

DirtyDennis | 11/13/2007, 8:52 am EST

It would appear MCP doesn’t like sh*t. Who does? But I can’t believe THAT is a go/no go for posting, but it appears to be the case. Who’d have thunk it. I can’t believe that in all my posts this is the first time I’ve used that word. Hell, a person can’t talk politics without using the word shista (that’s what my Mom always said.).
