Ron Paul’s $4.2 Million Haul

11/6/07, 3:08 am EST

Whoa!
I don’t know what’s more amazing — the sum total. Or the fact that this Republican fund-raising surge is all somehow in honor of terrorist, er, anarchist, er, V-For-Vendetta antihero Guy Fawkes.

Whatever you make of Paul, he and his supporters just pulled off, organically, through weird YouTube videos like this one…

… something we haven’t seen since Howard Dean.

Money that pulls in money. It’s like cold fusion for campaign finance. The question: Can this reaction sustain itself for more than a day?

UPDATE: For the members of the Paul Patrol who feel I’ve wronged your candidate, I’ve created an open thread wherein you can preach his virtues. Keep it positive, people.

Here comes the smear campaign–trying to link Ron Paul with terrorists and anarchists. Stop that. Ron Paul is a constitutionalist and a patriot.

Ron Paul is a true American patriot. You can’t stop the Ron Paul rEVOLution! Restoring the Republic is fun!

Daughters of Vietnam Veterans | 11/6/2007, 4:23 am EST

Yes, I am one of those “conspiracy theorists”, who believe the Vietnam War was a mistake and my Dad’s life was ruined with lies.

Ron Paul would make sure to take care of our Veterans, their families, and the health and security of his citizenry. God Bless him for being a little crazy for our country. I know I am!

Klutometis | 11/6/2007, 4:25 am EST

“Can this reaction sustain itself for more than a day?”

It sustained itself hitherto, much to the chagrin of the media.

We’ve hit an inflection point up!

Orwells Ghost | 11/6/2007, 4:25 am EST

Correction Tim Dickenson, Guy Fawkes was a Devout Catholic and he was introduced to the other “devout Catholics” Robert Catesby and the other conspirators by Jesuit Henry Garnet.

You see Tim the Catholics do not like being called terrorists or fanatics. They see themselves as following the word of God, which gets confused with Islamic Fundamentalism that claim the same things.

But Devout Catholics swear there is a difference.

So if Guy Fawkes was a terrorist according to you Tim, then Jesuits too are an organization of terrorists.

So which is it?
Is Guy Fawkes a terrorist, or was he a messenger of God sent by the Pope who declared and ordered that there would not be a non-Catholic ever to sit upon the throne of England?

Your call time.
I am all for calling both Guy Fawkes and Jesuits terrorists and I am glad you see seem to see it the same way.

So someone please write an article about how Tim Dickinson of Rolling Stone says Jesuits are terrorists.

Thanks so much for coming forward Tim and taking such a tough stance against the Vatican and her agents.

Mario Ochoa | 11/6/2007, 4:27 am EST

Where have you been all this time Rolling Stone?

mbarnes | 11/6/2007, 4:30 am EST

“Remember, remember the 5th of November” was really easy to, well, remember.

But WOW $4.2 million?

People are eating this stuff up.

DefendTheConstitution | 11/6/2007, 4:32 am EST

Who are the true patriots and who are the true terrorists?

Would you call George Bush or Dick Cheney true patriots or true terrorists. Over 650,000 Iraqis killed and counting for a war based on lies that lines their pockets through Harken, Halliburton and the Carlyle Group.

Is the CIA the true American patriot or a true global terrorist? The CIA was meddling with Middle Eastern affairs 50 years before 9/11.

Let’s try to maintain some perspective before we start throwing around the terrorist label.

Wow! Rolling Stone finally! | 11/6/2007, 4:37 am EST

Amazing that we’ve been here this whole time, and Rolling Stone finally notices that we exist.

Stick around. We are just getting started!

DRUMS of WAR | 11/6/2007, 4:39 am EST

And to think I used to read Rolling Stone because I thought it was created by anarchists.

What happened to that independent rock ‘n’ roll spirit?

Get a clue already. We don’t want the Council on Foreign Relations or AIPAC sending our young sons and daughters into war for oil or to protect Israel.

Mexico has oil, and Israel has the Bomb. Ron Paul has my vote.

Zoom | 11/6/2007, 4:41 am EST

Who is this moron Tim DICKinson anyway? Numbskull just jumps on the wagon like the other MSM and smears it with the terrorist label…your articled should have started with WHOA and ended with WHOA…nothing in between…cuz apparently you are a pinhead…Hahaha…

Talcott | 11/6/2007, 4:42 am EST

If the DemocRats nominate Hillary

and Mr.Paul has to go it 3rd party,

I’ll have a choice with a clear conseince.

Steve | 11/6/2007, 4:43 am EST

This is not about terrorism or anarchism. It is entirly about overthrowing the current messianic totalitarian democracy (the welfar/warfae state prepared by Lincoln, Wilson and FDR) and restoring the constitutional democratic republic.

Tom | 11/6/2007, 4:51 am EST

V for Vendetta implied a revolution of ideas and the power of the common man.

The “terrorist” aspect of V’s actions mentioned in the article are painted almost identically as such by the fascists he seeks to undermine in the movie.

But this is not a movie, and there is no violence in this revolution.

I feel there is an attempt in this article to marginalize and slant this campaign as a front for radicals and anarchists, which couldn’t be further from the truth. I love this country and the ideals upon which it was founded. For this I support Ron Paul.

xtrabiggg | 11/6/2007, 4:52 am EST

Mr. Dickinson… Please do some research and actually do your job before you start the ad-hominem attacks on an honorable man. It’s easy to take the hand-outs from your bosses and smear someone with the ‘terrorist’ label, but it’s hard to actually look at Ron Paul’s positions and realize he is the only one actually citing a strategy that will make America SAFER from terrorism- instead of the RudyMcRomneyHitlery candidates who would plunge us deeper in war and deeper in debt and concordantly create a better environment for the growth and spread of terrorism. What happened to the Rolling Stone that actually INVESTIGATED it’s stories?

Timothy Richardson | 11/6/2007, 4:53 am EST

Just wanted to apologize for being petty and childish. I’d hate for people to think that I have no integrity as a journalist. Hat’s off to Ron Paul.

Shawn | 11/6/2007, 4:55 am EST

“The question: Can this reaction sustain itself for more than a day?”

Look at his graphs of fundraising trends this quarter and look at how much he has raised last quarter w/o loaning himself millions. (Romney/McCain)

Tim | 11/6/2007, 4:59 am EST

The real question to ask yourself is this: How was Ron Paul, who has been consistently ignored – purposefully left out by the Mainstream Media – and castigated as some kind of “fringe” candidate, able to recieve over $4 Million dollars in donations from approximately 40,000 average American Citizens?
It’s quite easy – Dr. Paul represents the hard working American citizens who are TIRED of being ignored by both the Republican and Democratic parties; they have ignored us for far to long, and it is payback time.

WE THE PEOPLE, of the United States, are taking our country back, and there is not one damned thing that the TRAITORS in Washington,DC can do about it. Think of this as the second American Revolution, and the actions of “King George” and his Globalist cronies are going to make this one easier to win than the first one.

Anonymous | 11/6/2007, 5:00 am EST

What I don’t understand is why the big media hate Ron Paul so much? Here’s a man who says exactly what he’s thinking, has enough integrity to go around, and stands for everything that made this country great in the first place, yet the media treat him like some crazy old kook who doesn’t know what the hell is going on, and label his supporters as “fanatics”, “spammers”, “fringers”, etc… It’s like something from a George Orwell novel… Shame on you Tim Dickinson, for being a part of the problem, and not a part of the solution.

PFJO | 11/6/2007, 5:07 am EST

I’m not sure that a reference in Rolling Stone was the ideal for us… I was hoping for evening news mention but oh well… thanks for the write-up Mr. Dickinson. Now, let’s hope that our candidate of choice can maximize this gift and spend this money in the most effective way possible… by savaging his GOP rivals, particularly Huckabee.

RonBot | 11/6/2007, 5:09 am EST

Fool me once…shame on you…:D

Tony | 11/6/2007, 5:39 am EST

Enough with Howard Dean references. It’s like an old, worn joke. A cliche.

Richard | 11/6/2007, 5:45 am EST

To think I used to regard Rolling Stone highly. I guess like all things, the people that made Rolling Stone great have sold out to big business. This was a pathetic hit piece masquerading as journalism.

But you know what I believe is going to start happening? I think that the MSM is going to start focusing attention on Ron Paul? Why? Duh. Because he now has millions in donations to spend on a campaign now and the MSM is going to start wanting that money. This ought to be amusing to watch.

James | 11/6/2007, 5:45 am EST

1. Its well know that the creator of the thisNovember5th.com site is not an anarchist.

2. It is common knowledge that both Ron Paul and his supporters are strong supporters of a Republic form of government. Not Anarchy.

3. It is common knowledge that Ron Paul supporters like the constitution, which is at odds with an Anarchy.

4. I guess if you think that people who like the movie V for Vendetta must be crazed anarchists who want to honor terrorists, then sure, we must all be crazy. But if you have common sense, you know that movies and real life are different.

5. “Remember, Remember, the 5th of Nobember” is from a British poem. The meaning of the poem is that all traitors will be found and punished.

6. Britain is the only country that celebrates Guy Fawkes day. Guy Fawkes day is a celebration of THE FOILING OF HIS PLOT. Guy Fawkes day is celebrated by burning Guy Fawkes in effigy.

Guy Fawkes day is *NOT* in honor of Guy Fawkes. Guy Fawkes day is in DIShonor of Guy Fawkes. Do Rolling Stones authors don’t have to check facts before they smear people with lies?

Let me say this again, because its clear and obvious to anyone in Britain where Guy Fawkes day is celebrated: November 5th is a day Guy Fawkes is DIShonored. See the “DIS” there, Rolling Stones author?

Guy Fawkes day DIShonors Guy Fawkes.

Guy Fawkes day (Nov 5th) DISHONORS Guy Fawkes.

So I’ve repeated myself five times, but the author of this article should, as a punishment, be required to write it 1,000 times on a chalk board.

Sean | 11/6/2007, 5:48 am EST

I’ll concede that Dr. Paul does have some crazy supporters… (as all candidates do)… but I think I’m a pretty sensible guy. I’m fairly well educated- I have a business degree and a law degree. I’m the last guy you’ll ever see at a rally or out campaigning for a political candidate. However, I think Dr. Paul’s platform (i.e., the federal Constitution) is as reasonable and conservative as it gets.

I’m troubled by media coverage which attempts to paint everyone like me as part of some lunatic fringe. It’s hard not to draw parallels between the so-called mainstream media & George Orwell’s 1984. Little bit creepy.

Dr. Paul gets it. He understands law and economics and actually seems to be a decent guy. Most importantly, he understands federalism (Article I Section 8) and separation of powers.

I’ve never seen anyone else running for political office who makes as much sense as Dr. Paul. To hell with those who try to paint people like me as crazy.

kyle | 11/6/2007, 5:55 am EST

Amazing. What is wrong with all of you writers? What do you have against a man who wants to make America BETTER? A man who wants to get rid of government spying? Do you like the Patriot Act? Are you happy habeas corpus is gone? Are you content to pay half your paycheck to the government?

Are you pleased that Internet may soon be regulated? Would you like a draft to return? Are you looking for a country to nuke? Do you think it is a good idea to have the U.S. Government make up the curriculum for your children? Do you want to be stuck in SS when you know you won’t get a dime?

Do you want a government that is more secretive while you lose more civil rights? Do you enjoy knowing that the FBI can write their own warrants based on one agents say so without even consulting a judge? Are you happy they did it over 100,000 times last year?

Do you enjoy the drug war? Are you pleased you can be thrown in jail for having a joint in your pocket? Does it make you happy that a large portion of the country is now in jail just because they wanted to get high?

Are you pleased that blacks are disproportionately affected by the drug war?

What is wrong with you?

Ron Paul would end ALL OF THAT and still you treat him like dirt? He would give you the America you have been dreaming of and you spit all over him?

Or are you a fascist pig who likes throwing people in jail and can’t wait to nuke millions of innocent children?

Are you one of those who sneers when he says Libertarian as if liking liberty is a bad thing?

And from Rolling Stone no less?

I am disappointed with you. Turn off the music and pick up a book. Read Ron Paul’s book for that matter. Find out who this amazing man is that you are knocking.

They still say that Guy Fawkes was the only honest man to ever walk into parliament. He was a Robin Hood, a hero to his people. He offered change of an oppressive government that was crushing the people.

You call that bad?

Stop dissing Ron Paul and his supporters. Learn about the man. You just may find out he is the greatest thing to ever happen to YOU!!!

Michael | 11/6/2007, 6:06 am EST

Tim Dickinson is a dumbass. Ron Paul is the man. Rolling Stone has fallen. The bad people there will fall by the good.

Bruce | 11/6/2007, 6:16 am EST

Ohhh… Rolling Stone! Do you feel the sting?

How much am I LOVING it that America is waking up, and calling out the MSM when they spin things like this?

A LOT, that’s how much!

Heed the warning, elitists of the MainStream Media. Patriots are on to your manipulative ways. Prepare for lots more of the same if you don’t change.

Keep th’ heat on, brothers and sisters! The truth can only be suppressed for so long. We (and the truth) will prevail!

Jive Dadson | 11/6/2007, 6:17 am EST

Is this the same Rolling Stone that Hunter S. Thompson wrote for? Man, would I love to read what he would write about what Rolling Stone has become. But Kyle in the first response did a pretty good job of it.

The best journalism is always in the comments section.

Chuong | 11/6/2007, 6:19 am EST

Like Bill Maher said to Ron Paul on his show, “If America was a smarter country, wouldn’t you be leading in the polls?”

I agree. Most people on the streets probably couldn’t even name our three branches of government (the average I got from the show Street Smarts anyways :P ). Let’s hope America smartens up before the primaries! Go Ron Paul!

James | 11/6/2007, 6:19 am EST

Education for Tim Dickinson:

Guy Fawkes day (Nov 5th) DISHONORS Guy Fawkes.

Guy Fawkes day is *NOT* in honor of Guy Fawkes. Guy Fawkes day is in DIShonor of Guy Fawkes. Do Rolling Stones authors don’t have to check facts before they smear people with lies?

Guy Fawkes day DIShonors Guy Fawkes.

Let me say this again, because its clear and obvious to anyone in Britain where Guy Fawkes day is celebrated: November 5th is a day Guy Fawkes is DIShonored. See the “DIS” there, Rolling Stones author?

Tim Dickenson, do you realize you just said its a “fact” that we “honor a terrorist”, when Guy Fawkes day is in DIShonor of a terrorist? I hope you get sued for a whole lot of money.

Boo.. This is some of the worst spin i’ve seen since the advent of Bill O’ Riely

Solly | 11/6/2007, 6:49 am EST

I find it ironic that the MSM describe ‘V’ in ‘V for Vendetta’ as a terrorist when in the film he was only portray that way by the nazi controlled media, but the people could see through the lies and saw him as someone who finally made some sense and someone who was finally telling the truth.
Does anyone see a similarity with the real world here, or is it just me?
Ron Paul makes sense, you guys make propaganda.

Damon | 11/6/2007, 6:55 am EST

Obviously Rolling stone is going to lose a ton of Subscriptions because of this moron Tim Dickenson. Hopefully he will lose his job for it. Go Ron Paul!!!!!!

You should open the windows and let your head clear before you comment on things you obviously know nothing about Mr. Dickinson.

I can’t believe my eyes…even rolling stone is part of the biased old media?
does even rolling stone is on the paybook of the elitist, globalist rulers?

Glenn | 11/6/2007, 7:02 am EST

I’m a retired Army master sergeant and veteran of 2 tours in Vietnam, but Ron Paul is right to oppose the war in Iraq. I not only support him, I’m campaigning for him to my maximum extent. And I won’t be swayed by the MSM’s anti-Paul smear campaigns, sure to come.

It’s the main stream media’s lies and treason versus Ron Paul’s truths and patriotism. Simple as that.

Now’s the time for all good Americans to come to the aid of our country, and that means supporting Ron Paul for President of the United States of America.

Norcal | 11/6/2007, 7:05 am EST

Please Mr. Dickenson, wake up to what’s going on and who Dr. Paul is and what he’s about. WE have all figured it out, and “we” are a sizable portion of the American (and world) public. I don’t know any of these other people, but I know them by their words. That “we” is “WE THE PEOPLE”.

As are you, Mr. Dickenson – and considering what we are up against, we really need your help.

Ross | 11/6/2007, 7:28 am EST

To me the terrorist are the uneducated masses allowing atrocious things to occur behind a wall of complacency and ignorance. 1/10 for this article, a truly horrible and sound bite depth piece of garbage.

Dear Tim,

As you can see, Paul supporters are passionate. However, there seems to be too much anger here.

I read you article as one expressing curiosity and amazement.

I think many people have not been exposed to Ron Paul’s message, and so feel the same way.

I humbly invite you to read more about Ron Paul, watch the videos on Youtube, and form your own opinion.

PS Ron Paul didn’t raise this money. _*WE*_ raised this money. Take back your power.

I am stunned. I never expected Rolling Stone to run such a poor piece of journalism–it is the same swill as NBC or the Mainstream papers. I expected at least a least of that rebel attitude–hell, People magazine is probably more objective. What a disappointment. No point in reading Rolling Stone anymore–it is the same as the establishment. Maybe you should ask Johnny Rotten what Ron Paul is about???

Brendon | 11/6/2007, 8:24 am EST

Mr Dickinson, your a journalist, do your research (even if its on youtube) and you will find a lot of dirt on the other candidates but you wont find any dirt on Ron Paul

Bob C. | 11/6/2007, 8:27 am EST

Like any good journalist you’ll
surely recognize that the REAL story has yet to be told.
Judging by the previous comments you must assume there are some Ron Paul supporters – Like maybe $4.2 MILLION in one day? You could continue to ignore or denigrate but that would only prove our point.

You are forgiven. Here’s your homework – RESEARCH Ron Paul on the issues. Re-write your article
you might mention that Ron Paul has won a few debates (okay almost all of them) and straw polls too Did you know that? Isn’t that newsworthy?
One research tool you might consider is the constitution and maybe the bill of rights too…

When journalists continue to misinform we build a society of sheep. Now go re-write the article please, You’ve been a baaaaad boy!

RonPaulRules | 11/6/2007, 8:39 am EST

I was so eager to see what Rolling Stone had to say about tens of thousands of Americans standing up to say “Enough is enough”. Instead I get this worthless bit that must have taken maybe two minutes and involved no thought whatsoever. I am so disappointed, but then I remembered why I stopped reading Rolling Stone.

John C. Randolph | 11/6/2007, 8:41 am EST

I contributed to the Ron Paul campaign, because of his voting record in the congress. He’s the only politician I know of whose record matches his words one hundred percent.

That 4.2 million, and in fact all of the money he’s raised to date, is from individual contributors: no PAC money, no union money, no foreign money, and no corporate money. He’s gotten more contributions from serving members of the military than any other candidate from either party.

As a very wise man once said, the US constitution may not be perfect, but it’s a lot better than what we have now.

David | 11/6/2007, 8:43 am EST

First, the Ron Paul campaign did not plan this fundraising surge – it was done by grassroots supporters, something the other candidates would love to have. Second, this was not a violent statement in rememberance of a terrorist. It was a statement that the American people are sick of the government that has been running the country for so long, and want a return to the Constitution (remember that?) and less centralized government.

Attempting to brush aside this fundraising by trying to associate Ron Paul with “terrorism” is rediculous. Please have a little more integrity and intellectual honesty next time.
Thanks.

Chris Mcdonell | 11/6/2007, 8:47 am EST

The reason the media won’t embrace Ron Paul is because they are zionists who think that Israel is the capital of the United States. Rolling Stone is a complete piece of crap. Ron Paul is an American firster and that does’nt bode well for the new Israeli empire.

Charles W. | 11/6/2007, 8:48 am EST

I am a 59 yo Democrat who has never, NEVER, contributed money to any political campaign. . . until now. So far I’ve contributed $125 to Ron Paul’s campaign. Quite remarkable when you consider I have no savings, no retirement fund, no stocks, and my spouse and I live from paycheck to paycheck.

Viva the Ron Paul Revolution!

I love reading over the comments on this thread! I am starting to have faith in the American people again. We are waking up.
The power of the American people can be unreal once we join together.
The past eight years has damaged our reputation and our nation. With Ron Paul we can get our nation back to a place that I would be proud to pass on to my son.
Go Ron Paul.
We will not stand for corporate controlled media anymore. NO MORE MANIPULATIONS from our government or media.

My 14 year old daughter who is a writer for her high school paper could write a better article than this. Shame on you Rolling Stone.

Tim Dickinson, I fart in your general direction. This article sucks.

Steve | 11/6/2007, 9:14 am EST

Don’t you media pukes get it.

We don’t want anarchy, we want The Constitution. It’s not something new, it is the law of the land.

Do you get your talking points from Bill O’reilly?

Brent | 11/6/2007, 9:18 am EST

Ron Paul is not honoring anarchism nor terrorism. The supporters picked the day because V for Vendetta + the poem, which celebrates the capture and punishment of Guy Fawks and honors him.

We are a home educating, middle class family. We don’t have savings, pension/disability/welfare, retirement, 401k, inheritance, tax breaks, stocks, bonds, capital gains, or any other monies except the cash that the gov’t allows the dad to come home with.
We are FED UP WITH THIS REGIME! We are giving EVERY BIT OF EXTRA CASH we can to Ron Paul, every SPARE MINUTE OF TIME, ALL OUR EXTRA ENERGY GOES TO SUPPORT DR. RON PAUL, the NEXT PRESIDENT for U S !!!

James | 11/6/2007, 9:21 am EST

Pretty sure every one of our Founding Fathers was called a terrorist too, but we still celebrate the 4th of July.

Stephen | 11/6/2007, 9:23 am EST

I guess Rolling Stone lets any uninformed moron work for them. This is a pitiful piece of work.

John Danforth | 11/6/2007, 9:24 am EST

Rolling Stone shows us what it is made of. Ho Hum.

Chris Mcdonell | 11/6/2007, 9:26 am EST

Excellent article Comrade Dickinson. This Ron Paul is a threat to Soviet/Zionist world government!!!We must continue our campaign of propaganda against this Man who stands for middle class scum everywhere!! Sincerely, Lord Rothschild.

Jeanette Doney | 11/6/2007, 9:27 am EST

Moss is growing on Rolling Stone, who should put Ron Paul on a cover of their magazine and write a good story about him, if they intend to stay in business much longer. The article could even be about all the new songs, bands and performers creating new material for a presidential candidate (that Ron Paul didn’t beg for, ask for or even have to pay.

John Tibor | 11/6/2007, 9:29 am EST

Tim,

Its not about Guy, its about what the government did afterwards. And more importantly, its about what George Washington said about the day

Chris | 11/6/2007, 9:31 am EST

Ron Paul is an American here. This hit piece is ridiculous.

Shame on you, Mr Dickinson.

Andrew76 | 11/6/2007, 9:35 am EST

As opposed to some of the “different” Ron Paul supporters, I am a regular old American independent. Keep this up for more than one day? Where have you been man?! The Guy Fawkes thing was never intended as a literal connection. The term was “money bomb.” Nov. 5th was coming up, seemed like a good enough date, so it happened and we’ve made history. Any connection to Guy Fawkes – to ANY thinking person – would and should seem allegorical at best.

I want to thank Tim Dickinson for having a pair to write this article. You understand that people just don’t get it.

Your style of writing has gotten many more people to stand up and be vocal, rather than sit back and accept the MSM.

Bravo and welcome to the rEVOLution!

It was a pretty weak piece. Keep your humor though. Probably written by a long haired freak and commie (to steal a style..)

Never seen the movie | 11/6/2007, 9:43 am EST

Never knew who Guy Fawkes was.
Donated 250.00 yesterday.
Been Ron Paul fan for 8 years.

It’s just a date, a few supporters thought it was cool to use Nov 5th because of the movie, a few thought it was not, and most of the rest of us didn’t care and gave our hard earned money to the only man with integrity running for president.
And his message is powerful and is gaining support exponentially.

Patrick Dickson | 11/6/2007, 9:45 am EST

WOW! Who writes this crap…hey Tim, how much do you get paid, because if it’s over 6 figures I’ll come and take your job you biased imbecile.

Shawn Easter | 11/6/2007, 9:45 am EST

Wow Tim. I’m sorry you didn’t know what you were getting into when you wrote this quick little article that you thought nobody would read.

I could repeat all the things people have already said, but I think you get the picture. Poor journalism. You work for Rolling Stone man!

I hope that you will write an article about the passion of patriots, now that you have experienced their wrath. Or at least whatever wrath you can experience from a comment on a website.

Gotta make you feel bad though. All these people hating your article? Go home, drink some warm milk, and get some rest. Maybe you’ll feel better tomorrow. Or maybe there will just be 500 more comments telling you what a poor journalist you are.

OH, I have an idea. Be a real journalist, write a real article, and have some real pride in what you write. Respect your job, and we’ll respect you Tim.

“Get that together, come back and see me” – barenaked ladies

Whoa!
I don’t know what’s more amazing — the sum total. Or this pooh pooh’d article. Truly, had this been any other candidate, me thinks you would have spared a little more ink and common sense before publishing this excuse of an article. Oh, I forgot, this is Rolling Stone.

It is a sad state of affairs, when subscribing to the Constitution is considered fringe. But I think we can blame such civic illiteracy of the masses on excellent pieces of journalism, such as this by Tim what’s his name?

DisabledVet | 11/6/2007, 9:48 am EST

Steve | 11/6/2007, 9:49 am EST

Tim -
I apologize for all the name calling from some of my fellow Ron Paul Supporters. It’s a sign of the frustration at articles intentionally edited to slant public opinion away from our candidate. Please ignore the name calling posts and instead read the many well thought out arguments for Ron Paul’s positions.

Alert the media in advance..make this something really special

I’m 50 and remember when Rolling Stone was anti-establishment. It has evolved into one of the most strident establishment rags in America. Rock and Roll for the establishment!

Kenny | 11/6/2007, 10:01 am EST

I’m an military veteran for Ron Paul.

Ben | 11/6/2007, 10:03 am EST

Over the years I have read many articles in RS that declared certain popular musicians were over rated. Perhaps it is Rolling Stone that has been over rated. I expected more out of this magazine.

Jesubub | 11/6/2007, 10:07 am EST

This shows why Rolling Stone should have stayed with rock-n-roll! RS’s history is a microcosm of what has happened to our system of government. It started out For & Of The People and has changed into an instrument to dumb down & enslaved those same people with lowest-common-denominator pop-culture at the hands of corporate interests — the other half of the fascist dynamic. Kudos!

Natalie | 11/6/2007, 10:07 am EST

Now I actually wish I had a subscription to Rolling Stone just so I could cancel it today.

This article sucks.

Brenda | 11/6/2007, 10:18 am EST

Very disappointed by this article. I expected much more.

Rolling Balls | 11/6/2007, 10:22 am EST

This little piece of article by another MSM outlet is a clear manifestation that the MSM and those who fund it think that after a century of brainwashing and dumbing down the population they succeeded. But when faced with the TRUTH at liberty these con artist miserably fail. People have not been dumbed down, they just gave up on you guys delivering the truth. But when they hear what they know deep down their hearts, they immedeately recognize it. Keep it up MSM, all you attempts to BS people about Ron Paul will blow up in your face.

JK | 11/6/2007, 10:23 am EST

Never would have expected to see this from RS, a “rock and roll” magazine. What a shame.

Hey everybody, let’s go easy on Tim. It is hard to shake the layers of crap we have had laid on us over the last 30 years from the government and media.

I am a veteran for Ron Paul. Only a few months ago I was in support of GWB regarding the war. Then I listend to how and why RP says what he says and does what he does.

Needless to say I feel really stupid for having been so fearfull for nothing for so long.

Tim, your balls are right where they have always been you just need to remember them.

Vote Ron Paul

Benja S. Sariwatta Meetup 151 | 11/6/2007, 10:36 am EST

November 5 is mostly based on the Film V for Vendetta. I didn’t even know who Guy Fawkes was until yesterday when I donated $141 bucks. No, I did not catch his name on the movie… The theme Ron Paul supporters are getting at is a fight against the current Fascist/almost tyrannical US Government taking away our rights, liberties, ruining our name world wide, and running us into bankruptcy with endless meddling in world affairs. It has nothing to do with blowing up parlament or supporting Guy Fawkes.

Guy Fawkes | 11/6/2007, 10:36 am EST

I’m actually suprised! Rolling Stone is still in business? I thought they folded 15 years ago.

seeker1 | 11/6/2007, 10:39 am EST

This half-assed article has produced some very excellent content in the comments. Take the time to read them.

Like the other 50 somethings out there, I remember when Rolling Stone stood for something, but honestly, I stopped reading it back in the eighties.

Thanks for reminding us that there are alternatives and we should move on from the past.

After all the sixties are now almost fifty years ago.

Austin James | 11/6/2007, 10:41 am EST

Many Ron Paul supporters are enthusiastic about restoring constitutional values in our government. We have the highest regard for the value of individual liberty, as outlined in the Bill of Rights. We see the current government dismantling these first 10 amendments to the US Constitution with the Patriot Act, the Military Commissions Act, and tolerance of torture.

Ron Paul’s campaign represents an energetic attempt to restore the respect for individual liberty established by our founding fathers in the US Constitution.

L. Step | 11/6/2007, 10:41 am EST

So, Rolling Stones do gather moss.

Don | 11/6/2007, 10:45 am EST

Rolling Stone, Oh how you have changed. So sad. R.I.P.

Mike | 11/6/2007, 10:45 am EST

Journalists should report the news not opinionate it. This is becoming a huge problem with the mass media.

J. Cline | 11/6/2007, 10:46 am EST

Many Paul supporters are incensed that — despite surpassing every other GOP candidate in number of active supporters, total donors, military donors, fundraising power, straw poll victories, and event turnout — Ron Paul still gets short shrift from established media players.

Some of the comments here are unkind, but they reflect the frustration of injustice that people feel. It seems that no matter what we do, the smashed records and mounting evidence of strong Paul support will be all but suppressed — or, at best, twisted into a mockery.

Even I, as a Paul supporter, was flabbergasted by the $4.2 million haul. I knew of the Nov. 5th flashmob fundraiser, but based on the 17,000 names who had signed up, I wasn’t expecting more than $1.2 mil — which still would have been amazing. But 35,000 donors (including 21,000 new ones) bringing in over $4 mil in 24 hours?

This is extraordinary, and rather than lampooning it through an undue focus on the Guy Fawkes gimmick, there should be some newfound respect rendered to a candidate whose message increasingly resonates in an electorate that sees no hope in those supposed first-tier candidates.

If the choice is between more of the same, and more of the same, I’ll opt for Ron Paul.

Pauline | 11/6/2007, 10:47 am EST

When I first became a Ron Paul supporter, the mainstream media said that only the young people were supporting Ron Paul. They were wrong. So I went on the Internet to see what all the brouhaha was. Next the media began insulting the bottom feeding Internet dwellers who happen to be 80% of American adults. Then when Ron Paul raised 4.2 million dollars on Nov 5th, the media claims that Ron Paul supporters learned about Guy Fawkes from a Movie. Duh! Wake up journalists and read … otherwise you are going to be left behind in the illiterate Dark Ages without a clue of what’s happening in America. Please note that everytime you insult a Ron Paul supporter you feed the ground for 10 more supporters who realize how much you lack integrity, intelligence, and personnel honor.

Red | 11/6/2007, 10:47 am EST

Duuuuude, we can guess your brain synapses were a bit addled when you wrote this. Either that or you haven’t seen a Ron Paul ‘Revolution’ banner yet. What is RS a promoter of the status quo these days????? Is the slogan now ” ‘Roll’ the vote, dont rock the boat???”

Okay, now get back to your coverage of Change-light and Change-lighter, also known as Obama and Clinton. Just wake me when that tired —- is over.

Chris | 11/6/2007, 10:48 am EST

The spin and pure disrespect in this article has saddened me. I used to occasionally but Rolling Stone off the news stand. Never, never again.

Rock Nelson | 11/6/2007, 10:50 am EST

Rolling Stone, a magazine that can claim to have had John Lennon on the cover of their first issue, has now become yet another propaganda pusher for the NWO. Make no mistake, the soundtrack for Dr. Paul’s campaign, chosen by his supporters is the Beatle track “Revolution”. Being a no conformist musician myself, I have found your magazine to be nothing more than floff, for over 20 years now. You should be ashamed of yourself.
Will you guys keep pushing the liars and cheaters or finally grow some balls again

Hail to the Chief, Dr. Paul will be the best & most important President since Jefferson.

Ron Paul is the only candidate for the presidency in 2008 willing to stand up and speak the truth about the horrible shape our country is in. He speaks the truth, unlike the other candidates who say what they are told to say. Hmmmmm, sounds kind of similar to you, dear “journalist”. You write what you are told to write. Shame on you. You should research Ron Paul, actually research him. Not MSM research, honest un-biased research, just like the rest of these commenters have done. We are all educated, open-minded Americans who have done the research, made up their minds, and contributed their hard-earned monies to this man who will, if allowed to be honestly and duely elected, restore the constitution and this wonderful country back to its original liberties. Thank you.

Slice D | 11/6/2007, 11:03 am EST

Not only will the (Ron Paul) Revolution not be televised (accurately), but it will not be broadcast over radio or written about honestly in the newsprint (online or elsewise) no matter how many millions are raised. That’s because these weak-kneed journalists, using that term very loosely, are simply yes-men for the internation terror network centered here in the U.S. The keepers of this present day tyranny will have to be uprooted utterly and forcefully. Mobsters don’t just quit. But as for their mules in the media, not only do they keep lying to suppress the truth of Dr. Paul’s truly massive popularity, they NEVER address the message of his movement honestly. They can’t. It would only reveal the pro-tyranny, pro-globalist agenda eminating from both major parties. Our national soverignty and identity is hanging in the balance and Dr. Paul is the last honest man standing. The Revolution will not be televised, but so much the better when we win. Good Night and Good Luck.

Gnarlene | 11/6/2007, 11:05 am EST

I used to like Rolling Stone, too! But in good conscience, I can no longer associate with news stations or magazines or even the newspapers who print false or degrading stories about people. Negativity and hate breed negativity and hate. They have been making the American people haters for a long time (Of course, not all Americans hate). Don’t read or watch trash anymore! If we can’t love our fellow man, can’t we at least respect them?

Chris Nolfi | 11/6/2007, 11:22 am EST

It is incredulous to consider Guy Fawkes a terrorist. He should be considered a hero for standing up against tyranny. He had the right intentions just misguided with violence.

But let us keep in mind, that it was our praiseworthy founding fathers that encourage violent revolution against the tyrannical British gov’t.

You decide!

Jah Red | 11/6/2007, 11:27 am EST

It is just the American Insurgents speaking out putting there money up to save our Republic.

From Bouvier Law Dictionary

INSURGENT. One who is concerned in an insurrection. He differs from a rebel in this, that rebel is always understood in a bad sense, or one who unjustly opposes the constituted authorities; insurgent may be one who justly opposes the tyranny of constituted authorities. The colonists who opposed the tyranny of the English government were insurgents, not rebels.

The media keeps saying that Ron Paul is another “Howard Dean”, and he can’t win, his support is just a few internet bloggers and spammers/hackers. I have voted in every presidential election since I turned 18 in 1976. I have never given a dime to a politician or party, until this year. For the last 6 months I have given at least $100 a month to Ron Paul’s campaign. I will continue donating at least that much a month until Dr. Paul wins or drops out of the race.
I am a Ron Paul supporter,
we do indeed exist,
we do vote,
and we WILL win.

Tim,

It’s good you’ve got the Rolling Stone imprimatur. If you were a commenter on the Ron Paul Forums, you’d be comfortably in the bottom quartile in terms of useful information or noteworthy predictions.

How do these MSM tools get their jobs? It can’t be merit, most have little.

You can’t win with the msm and establishment if you aren’t part of their agenda. Who would’ve thought that the Constitution would be extremist and radical?

Chad | 11/6/2007, 12:35 pm EST

Howdy, thanks for reporting. ROLLING STONE!!!! That’s neat…

Anway, the Fawkes thing is silly and irrelevant. The real story is the grassroots organizational power that had so many people donate in a coordinated effort.

The comment:

“The question: Can this reaction sustain itself for more than one day?”

This is silly. The whole point was to do it for a day as a display of the level of organization of the grassroots movement that is backing Paul.

The REAL question is: will this translate to increasing poll numbers?

I hope so.

Ron Paul could not make money for the next month and this would still be an insane total for the entire month of November.

The author here inferring that the Paul campaign somehow needs to keep this pace up is utterly ridiculous.

Morons.

Fortnighte | 11/6/2007, 1:16 pm EST

The very idea of “electability” is an interesting one, in that, WE THE PEOPLE determine someone’s “electability.”

It’s not the polls, or MSM or…whatever. It’s US!

The object of an election is to put into practice, at the governmental level, the ideals, that are consistent with the U.S. Constitution, I as a voter/taxpayer/American citizen deem beneficial to me personally and me corporately (being a legal citizen who cares deeply about my country).

It’s really quite simple: if enough of US decide that we want our government operating under such-and-such ideals, and we vote based on that desire (not the “lesser of two evils”), it can and does happen.

History, recent and not-so-recent, is replete with examples of “underdogs” triumphing: “Navy Beats Notre Dame, Ending 44-Year Losing Streak” (Nov. 3, 2007); “Appalachian State 34, No. 5 Michigan 32” in “one of the greatest upsets in college football history….” (Sept. 1, 2007); in early-2003, Joe Lieberman was leading the field for the Democratic Presidential nomination yet failed to win any primary; in early-1991 Bill Clinton was at 2% and went on to win the Presidency; in early-1975 Jimmy Carter was polling at 1% and went on to win the Presidency.

Would to God that we as citizens would approach the election process with the fervor, intensity and no-holds-barred approach that we can see in life’s other activities. I can assure you that, although some members of the Navy and Appalachian State teams had their doubts, they were encouraged to believe in themselves and to make the best possible effort they could, being unwilling to settle for anything less than that best effort.

No, no, NO, folks! Our job as U.S. citizens and patriots is not to “pick a winner,” which seems to me to be a view which trivializes our opportunity and responsibility as citizens. We’re to carefully consider all our options and then vote based on what is best for our COUNTRY!

One by one, as each of us decides that our vote IS important and that we are modern stewards of this great country, for which so many have given so much, THEN we begin to realize what we must do.

For me, that means expending whatever resources I can to make right what so many have worked so hard to destroy: my country…the United States of America. This great land deserves nothing less than the best I have to give. Can I truly call myself a “patriot” having done less than I could for this great country? What kind of American am I to see an opportunity to install into the White House a man with demonstrable and impeccable credentials and then do little to nothing to forward that effort?

No! I will have no part whatsoever in sitting idly by as others who, in the name of God or Money or “Compassionate Conservatism” or “Honor” or whatever do their utmost to denigrate and dissolve this great country…MY country! RON PAUL for President! Viva la Revolución!

P.S. If someone doesn’t like the way the U.S. was designed to operate and opposes a return to that way of thinking and governance, I politely suggest they find another country that DOES provide all the services and care they desire from their government. (“Paging a Mr. Robert Altman and Mr. Alec Baldwin…Final boarding call for any and all flights departing America….”) But that is NOT the way the U.S. was designed and I, and millions of others, intend on returning the U.S. to it’s roots…it’s Constitutional roots.

William | 11/6/2007, 1:25 pm EST

I gave $100 yesterday and $25 more today, partly out of spite for articles like this one that deny the legitimacy of the Ron Paul campaign. He’s the only candidate the deserves to be our next president.

Michael Mink | 11/6/2007, 1:29 pm EST

They can try to smear Ron Paul all they want. Truth is his campaign is the only campaign that is striking a nerve with the American public. If you do any independent research you will see that his following isn’t limited to the internet, as he wins straw poll after straw poll, and draws huge crowds everywhere. In this country where so few actually vote, the masses that decide to vote will change the world. Research Ron Paul’s voting record and see why this man is striking a chord with the country.

Anonymous | 11/6/2007, 1:36 pm EST

Douche.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to this non-violent protest against our do-nothing Congress yesterday. When Americans put their hard-earned money into making a statement like “Blow Up the Capitol” then the media should take notice.

Ron Paul is one of the few honest politicians in that den of thieves. To this weirdo, it was $100 well-spent.

HowardRoark | 11/6/2007, 1:45 pm EST

I’m 30,I don’t fit in with the marching orders of either party. I usually have to pick the lesser of two evils. Nothing ever changes and we as a people are more divided than ever. Its encouraging to see someone like Dr. Paul bring together a wide swath of views and demographics even if it doesnt translate into a victory. Americans are remembering that they have a voice and we the people can make a difference.

Ron Paul may not have a chance, time will tell. This revloution will have an impact even in defeat.

The best thing about his run is the infusion of a whole generation of people like myself that are getting involved and making our views and opinions known. The apathetic generation X is starting to make some noise. Hopefully we can keep the ball rolling and make some real change.

The new youth revolution is waking up the errors made by our parents and returning to individual liberty. Our liberties have been slowly eroding over the last 70 years by the misguided actions of our parents generation. The individual is the smallest minority and this is the start of my civil rights movement.

Richard Wicks | 11/6/2007, 1:45 pm EST

Gee whiz, this nation has just killed 100,000 innocent Iraqs over weapons of mass destruction THAT NEVER EXISTED. And who was held accountable for this terrible error in “intelligence”? Nobody. But Lawrence Franklin is in jail, and if there is any justice, two AIPAC members will soon be joining him.

If you’re looking for a bunch of bloodthirsty low down terrorists, you have no need to look any further than Washington DC and these pieces of garbage are using my money and YOUR money to do it with.

And what has this 4 year war gotten you and me? Well, it’s devalued the dollar by 50%, it’s alienated my nation from traditional allies, it’s gotten thousands of US servicemen killed and maimed and incited hatred of the US across the entire Middle East.

Those “people” in Washington don’t represent me, do they represent you?

When all you have is nutcases promoting nutcases as “leaders” what can be done? The mainstream media hasn’t done it’s job for a decade, so the internet replaced it with individuals. We’re all tired of being lied to and misrepresented. We want our interests protected and the first thing that needs to be done is enforcing the constitution once again. It’s a document to protect individuals from government, and increasingly, I’m seeing a need to have that happen.

Rick | 11/6/2007, 1:49 pm EST

Mr Dickinson,

We, the people, did not contribute to Ron Paul’s November 5th’s campaign because we are anarchist or movie buffs. We contributed to Mr. Paul’s campaign because we are patriots who strongly believe in the message of hope, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. I’m 44 years old and a father to 2 boys and can tell you with utmost sincerity that Ron Paul is my HERO. God bless all our young people for bringing the fight to our current system of things.

The American Revolution, by historic record, only involved 3-5% of the population at that time. Look what such a small group accomplished. That same 3-5% will never ever be forgot, just as this revolution to restore our constitution and retake the reigns of our government, and put them back in their proper place..We the people.. Ron Paul is just the messenger! Ron Paul 2008.

Diesel Mcfadden | 11/6/2007, 2:51 pm EST

Hey y’all. We need to encourage Tim, not tear him down. Every bit of coverage helps. Ron Paul’s ideas stand for themselves. The dollars we’re raising show that we are real in-the-flesh supporters.

I’m excited that Rolling Stone is writing about Ron Paul and hope they cover him more in the future. Thank you, Tim.

Guy Fawkes | 11/6/2007, 2:53 pm EST

I’m a liberal by nature. I’d implore others of the same ilk to investigate Ron Paul for themselves. I’d venture to say that even though they won’t agree with all of his positions they’ll be perfectly aligned with the majority.

Joe D | 11/6/2007, 3:20 pm EST

Yes, we did a tremendous thing yesterday! But or the love of God! Some people are just stuck on stupid. RON PAUL DOES NOT WANT TO TAKE AWAY MEDICARE, SSA BENEFITS ETC FROM YOUR GRANDMA. If you’ve paid any attention and not just heard what you want to hear, you would know that Ron Paul has stated over and over again that his presidency would mark the beginning of “transition programs” for those that have become dependent on federal welfare. It will take decades to undo the current mess.

Boris | 11/6/2007, 3:21 pm EST

Tim,

I wouldn’t blame you if you didn’t want to write about Ron Paul anymore. It is difficult to understand why supporters of Ron Paul would want to portray themselves in this manner, I support Ron Paul for his Ideas and everyone should find out about him. But, I’m saddened to see so many of his supporters giving him a bad image by their angry comments.

Thank you Tim!

Boris

tim,
thanks for finally writing something about ron paul (even if it is a bit misleading). people who love liberty, people who think the government should stay out of our lives, people who are sick about the way the iraq invasion went down (and are worried about what’s next in iran)really should check out the ron paul message. it seems to be a perfect philosophical dovetail with the average rs reader. all i am saying is: give peace a chance.

John Lennon’s song Remember (the 5th of November) was also written in commemoration of Guy Fawkes, who Lennon admired. Was John Lennon a terrorist supporter too?

You Ron Paul people are out of hand. Did you even read the story that the link lead to? I doubt it. I think Tim is fairly even-handed when it comes to bashing the devilish republicans. You guys swarmed the site and threatened to cancel subscriptions that you don’t even have. Ron Paul is good on his anti-war stance and his desire to return to consitutional government. Aside from that, he has some seriously kooky ideas. I don’t think half of you know half as much about your candidate as you think you do. Try to keep the posts to a minimum. I can’t spend all day reading your drivel. There are some people that come to this site and like a little conversation and exchanging of ideas. The way you guys come in sucks. Nobody get a word in edge-wise. There I said it.

Todd | 11/6/2007, 3:48 pm EST

Joe D is absolutely correct. In fact, Dr Paul is the only candidate who offers a practical way of taking care of those dependent on such Government programs, and that is through changing foreign policy and saving literally hundreds of billions of dollars, money that can be used to tide people over, as opposed to increasing debt and/or inflation which ultimately hurt the very people such programs are intended to help while jeopardizing the prosperity of future generations. The Govt is broke, and the SS trust fund is gone, unless you consider IOU’s as assets. Those intent on portraying RP as someone who would toss these federal programs in the Potomac while leaving millions in destitute owe it to themselves to research the matter more carefully and see if any other candidate is offering any REAL and PRACTICAL solutions to this very real problem.

ProChef | 11/6/2007, 3:50 pm EST

This is the first time I have EVER given money to ANY politician.

I plan on giving MORE!

In our recent history as a country our government has repeatedly done everything they can to make our country despised throughout the world. Is it no wonder we begin to

They use intimidation via our police/prison state to quell our right to protest, legal trickery to subvert many of our constitutional rights, and fear via mass media to scare its citizens, all while robbing the middle class of its assets, creating an even larger bureaucracy and profiting from an illegal war. This is only the tip of the iceberg of illegalities.

Wake up america!!!

Are these not the actions of true terrorists?

This is terrorism redefined.

I think it is time the real “Global Terrorists” are finally held accountable for their crimes against humanity. Crimes to include, but not limited to, treason, murder(genocide), obstruction of justice, grand larceny, perjury and a littany of other felonies.

These people have to be shown that we mean business. Otherwise the next batch of neo-whatevers will be right behind them waiting to suck the life out of our flailing republic.

Carpe diem!

VOTE RON PAUL, VOTE FOR LIBERTY!

To the people insulting Tim: Not only are you being mean, it is simply counter productive. If you want people to listen to the message of liberty Ron Paul advocates, you must be patient and considerate about it. For those of you who weren’t libertarian/populist/constitut ionalist from the start, think back to when you followed other candidates. Surely you didn’t know you were being mislead. Would you have been persuaded by insults rather than intelligent arguments? I bet mostly not. You do a disservice to our cause by being so hostile.

Ron Paul & his supporters do:

1. end the war
2. return to a sound monetary policy
3. stop policing the world
4. secure our borders

I could go on – but you do get the “kooky” ideas – don’t you?!

Our country is in debt over 9.1 Trillion dollars! We are bankrupt and on the verge of collapse. Ron Paul for President.

Here’s a few:

He wants to dismantle the Department of Education and put it into the hands of the “privateers”.

He believes the U.S. is a Christian nation because of numerous references to “God” in the constitution.

He wants to completey shut down the borders.

He wants to dismantle the IRS (I might like this one)

There’s a few. Also, he’s worked closely with many politicians over the years that have been proven to be corrupt and most interested in money for themselves and friends.

nate | 11/6/2007, 5:51 pm EST

Dallas,

Your description of Ron Paul’s policies is pretty extreme. He doesn’t want to turn the US into a christian theocracy, he wants to give local governments more control over what religious observance is acceptable in the publc sphere. He doesn’t want to shut down the borders, he wants to enforce immigration law and stop paying the medical expenses of people who are not paying taxes, he doesn’t want to shut down public education, he wants the states to have more control over it, like they used to. And yes, he wants to shut down the IRS, but we don’t really need it, unless we want to spend money on a global empire. Lastly, perhaps he has consorted with crooked politicians, but that only means that he’s consorted with politicians. Everyone knows that 99% of politicians, except for Ron Paul of course, are crooked.

Dallas | 11/6/2007, 5:57 pm EST

The severely misinformed Dallas writes:

>Here’s a few:
>
>He wants to dismantle the Department of >Education and put it into the hands of the >“privateers”.

He wants to dismantle the DOE, but put it back in the hands of the states. The DOE is a disaster as evidenced by NCLB.

>He believes the U.S. is a Christian nation >because of numerous references to “God” >in the constitution.

I am an atheist and have followed Ron Paul for a long time (I voted for him in 1988). He has never worn his Christianity on his sleeve like other politicians trying to curry favor with the religious right. I doubt if you watched the Value Voter’s debate (or any for that matter based on your misinformation), but if you did, you would know that. Have a look at his voting record instead of spouting nonsense.

>He wants to completey shut down the >borders.

Zzzzt. Nice try, thanks for playing, but you are wrong again. He wants to end giving handouts to illegal aliens. Get your facts straight.

>He wants to dismantle the IRS (I might like >this one)

Hey, at least you got one right.

>There’s a few. Also, he’s worked closely
>with many politicians over the years that
>have been proven to be corrupt and most

That describes pretty much everyone in congress and ALL of the so-called top tier candidates of both parties.

Get a clue.

Like many of the others, I’m going to use my RS subscription money to donate to Ron Paul. I’m tired of listening to how great the Democrats are while RS ignores the only true anti-war candidate. And to try to label him a terrorist? Sick. Ron Paul is the definition of integrity. He is a true patriot.

Why don’t you use your poison pen to spill the dirt on Queen Hillary? It seems she is involved in some illegal campaign finance deception. Lets see an expose on that. Afer all its about the candidate, not the party. Isn’t that right RS? Although reading thru your magazine, it seems a democrat can do no wrong. I’ve never heard a democrat say “we marched right in, we can march right back out”. Who said that? Why yes it was Ron Paul. How about an article on that.

Ron Paul is a good guy, Tim Dickinson you suck from the word go.

First they ignore you.
Then they fight you.
and then Ron Paul wins!

Evan | 11/7/2007, 1:34 am EST

I guess Mr. Dickinson thinks people who fight an absurdly corrupt government are terrorists.

Mr. Dickinson’s arguement clearly applies to George Washington. Washington’s actions killed thousands of government employees in an outragous offense against the king.

Should we accept tyranny?

Dallas

Them that pick on you today,, will worship you tomorrow,,

Tim: “Keep it positive, people.”

After your ridiculous negative article, you expect people to “keep it positive”?

Time to come up with a symbolic day for everybody to drop their RS subscriptions!

If the man is anywhere as radical and viral as the majority of his supporters making a flood of postings, then we would do well to investigate the man in-depth (like that is ever done) and be careful, as it seems he is raising an army of radicals.

Dont be absurd Jed. Go back through some of the heated arguments with many of the regulars on this blog and you will see that the average “ron paul fanatical post” you’ve seen here pales in comparison. Frustration over insinuation that Ron Paul is a terrorist does not make a fanatic. Stop exaggerating.

DAWN OF THE AMERICAN REFORMATION, AND END OF THE ERA OF THE UGLY AMERICAN
This Ron Paul Libertarian rebellion is an escalation and re-orientation of the American Cultural War, by the American People, against the rising governmental tyranny by Neoconservative Republicans and Leftist Democrats.
It is sweeping across America like a wildfire – ignited by the illegal and unnecessary invasion of Iraq. It raises many crucial questions, such as:
Where does the American Constitution give my government the right to sacrifice precious American wealth and blood, in interests of domestic and foreign lobbies?
Where does the American Constitution give my government the right to allow my nation to be invaded and permanently occupied by illegal aliens?
Where does the American Constitution give my government the right to support the sacrificial killing of children, by their own mothers?
Where does the American Constitution give my government the right to discriminate against traditional religious practices in public schools, universities, marriage institutions, armed forces, and governmental offices?
This creeping governmental tyranny, driven by perverse special interests, has now been going on for so many decades, like the illegal alien invasion, that the impending American Reformation is regarded with fear and loathing, by those who are to lose their illicit gains.
Like Gandhi, Ron Paul is drawing his intrepid volunteers from the full spectrum of humanity; and World is cheering him on to victory.
