10/23/07, 6:40 pm EST

Um, Steven Colbert is ranked 5th in a poll — a NATIONAL poll — of Democratic presidential contenders. Ahead of Bill Richardson. We’re not making this up.

Is this more significant than say, Turkish troops massing at the border, Iraq saying they’re going to do ’something’ about it (what, they haven’t been able to do anything in their own back yard), Gates molifying the Ruskies by saying the missle defense won’t go ‘operational’ soon, 150 people blown to smithereens in Pakistan (which has the bomb), Bush saying he needs more $$$$ for the missle defense system Gates says we’re not going to install ’cause Iran MIGHT have a ‘bomb’ by 2015, 500K evacuated in SoCal, Rice FINALLY deciding to do ’something’ about contractors (not stating Blackwater by name), Dumbledore going public or Beckett playing his last game, this year, in the U.S.

People will say ANYTHING to a pollster. It’s what they do in the booth, alone, that matters.

(Sorry, you can only post a new post every minute or two …. Ha Ha, take that MCP, I copied.)

Mr. Noblett is by far the best candidate…

I’m totally voting for Colbert.

It’ll be funny, but that’s only because there’s truth to every joke. That’s bigger than any “change” Obama or Hilary can talk about.

Hay waite a minute..
Something is telling me we’re not the only one’s willing to bring the world to the brink..
Turkey is willing to take the world to the brink also??
Well, Well, Well,, and it’s just about thanksgiving too!!
Could we chalk another one up to old Nancy Pelosi and her showing the rest of the world how she feels,, or how those who vote for her feels..
Speaking of feeling,, I’ve got something for some former Miss America to feel..
Nancy, You’ve gotten away with being dumb and pretty all your life,, and then this House Speaker thing comes along,,
Nancy,, sometimes it’s best to turn a job down..
Tell that to Monica, when it’s all over..

Delta Wild Man | 10/24/2007, 12:51 am EST

Tim,,
I’ve been trying to set this up a little better than this,,why can’t we talk about feeding the ducks at the city park?? well we know we can’t do that..

But how’s the baby doing??

I think you’ll find the same for Pat Paulsen when he “ran” against Nixon back in, what, ‘68? He had better campaign literature, too! m

You wont find a more manipulative and biased poll given such credibility. While I am thrilled that so many people are dissenting like this, the authority we give to these polls is disappointing. Everything from the way the random sample is selected to the way the questions are worded produces systemic bias.

Cake, I agree with you that the polls are BS and that no one should really put much faith in them. But to say that the LA Times is conservative is nothing short of imbecilic. I suppose Rosa Brooks, Johnathan Chait and Joel Stein are all conservative mouthpieces, right? What’s next the New York Times is a Republican rag?

C Co... aka I Smell Propaganda | 10/25/2007, 6:06 pm EST

“L.A. Times is now conservative”

Why do you think you have a credible opinion when you say things like that, Cake?

DirtyDennis | 10/25/2007, 7:44 pm EST

Kid,

I guess he reckons that if it’s okay for you, it’s okay for him. He missed the part where you get a special pass.

C Co….
I don’t know about Cake’s sources, but when the Tribune Company, one of whom’s board members is Donald Rumsfeld, took over the times, they installed Andres Martinez as OP ED director in 2005, and he immediately fired popular progressive columnest Robert Sheer, among others, and brought in columns such as one titled “Bomb Iran” by Joshua Muravchik, neo-con mouthpiece, from the right wing American Enterprise Institute, which advocated unilateral US attacks on Iran just like Iraq.

In true right wing style, Martinez was forced to resign earlier this year due to scandal involving improper mixing of news and Op-ED content resulting in the Times of LA being accused of….Propagandizing.

Curre nt Times publisher David Hiller is well known as a right wing tool, and has invited and approved Donald Rumsfeld to appear in the Times as a guest Columnist.

I was(no longer) a subscriber to the LA Times for many years, and I can tell you that yes, it was swung to the right by the Tribune company, and part of it’s decline must be attributed to that.
