Are we safer?
Stronger?
Scaredier?
Talk amongst yourselves.

Stronger: no, safer: yes.

I’m sure all the shattered families will just let slide what has happened to them. I’m sure that they will roll over and not fight back. I’m sure they will not grow up with hatred in their hearts and a will to strike back at their oppressors.
I’m sure we haven’t reaped what we’ve sewn either.

Well, I know I’m more pisseder.
I am furious with the murderous politicians and businessmen who are exerting their influence to further exploit this occupation for all it is worth at the cost of taxpayers money, coalition soldiers safety and iraqi civilian life.
I used to be skeptical of the term ‘Dogs of War’. Now, I am seeing more and more evidence that this occupation is a lie. It’s a shame I couldn’t just take previous generations word for it. I had to see all the profiteering, political lies and war crimes myself.
And the war profiteers keep getting richer.

Safer? No.
Stronger? No.
Scardier? Yes.
All because of the Republicans.
DirtyDennis | 9/11/2007, 7:46 pm EST
Safer from what? Obviously you mean safer from ‘The Terrorists.’ We are no less nor more safe from ‘The Terrorists’ now than we were in the 20th Century. Nothing has changed here in this country. A LOT has changed elsewhere that doesn’t bode so well for some folks.
Which begs the question, who is the ‘we’ you are referring to? ‘I’ have NEVER been in danger from a terrorist and ‘I’ shall NEVER be in danger from a terrorist. I am INFINITELY more in danger from drunk drivers, lightning strikes, killer bees and I WAS going to say angry husbands, but I just remembered how old I am.
And I’m a HELL of a lot more scared of sitting in a bar with an off-duty cop packing a .38 or in a coffee shop with some uniformed cop sitting next to me with a loaded .357, than I am of a suicide bomber walking into either place.
I can’t speak for anyone else, but if they don’t feel the same as I, they should return to therapy.

Word, I apologize for doubting you, this site DOES delete posts. Time for me to moveon, if you’ll pardon the pun. This site has its nerve criticizing THEM and then censoring posts. Good Luck.

alright! 3 posts in a week removed that supply cold hard fact.
I posted statistics from the FBI on fatalities in this country and a link to the source. It’s gone now.
It sounds like other people are losing posts too by the look of it.

Safer? Really weren’t in that much danger to begin with.
You have more of a chance dying by getting struck by lightning or hitting a deer on the road while driving than you do from a terrorist attack.
And if someone would have gotten their head out of their butt and saw the signs and heeded the warnings before Sept 11, our country wouldn’t be in this mess now in the first place. Everyone other country even knew about the plot and warned us. Canada knew. France, Spain, Germany knew. Heck, even our enemies knew, like China, Venezuala even Cuba and Iran and they all warned us!
Scardier? You bet. When you have headlines that read, “Al Quida plans more attacks” GASP!!! Oh, now… What’re we gonna do!! Duh! Everyone knew of radical Muslims were around since the 60s, why is this a surprise now all of the sudden? Oh, that’s right. We were all too busy watching American Idol, Survivor, ER, Family Ties, Happy Days or Gilligan’s Island even.

I won’t feel safer until the Bush/Cheney gang are out of office.

i’m a new 9/11 skeptic… we are not safer… we are more frightened… and it all plays into neocon philosophy and control.
fight the national id… question the events of 9/11… purchase a firearm. the real war is at home and the real enemy is dhs and the patriot act.

The biggest fear I have about terrorism is that we may over react to a minuscule threat. Also keep in mind that America has had the fewest amount of terrorism attacks compared to other countries in the course of history.

Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed that Bin Laden always posts a new video everytime Bush needs him to? Just before the 2004 elections and now just before Patrayus goes before congress. If I was prone to conspiracy, I would almost think he was on the payroll.
Jed Clampett | 9/13/2007, 1:08 pm EST
alex, seems like you are a few years too late. we already have over reacted to a miniscule threat. Afghanistan was justified, Iraq simply squandered all the goodwill of the peoples of the world, including Iran. THis has the effect of making us more likely to be attacked.
DirtyDennis | 9/14/2007, 7:30 am EST
Ann, It may have been just you, but tnx for pointing it out. Elsewhere I posted that Bush is saber rattling to help his oil buddies finish off the Third Quarter nicely. Perhaps Bush and Laden are in concert on this.
Jed, in retrospect, and I say that with deference because I don’t like Monday Morning Quarterbacks, Afghanistan was NOT justified. Perhaps a response was called for, but this country, and Russia, have a penchant for rushing in where wise men never go. We did it in Viet Nam, Russia in Afghanistan and now Chechnya and we didn’t learn a thing from our Nam experiences OR Russia’s in Afghanistan. And which we continued to ‘not learn’ in Iraq and continue to ‘not learn’ from our overtures towards Iran.
You can’t pacify a cause or movement in those places by heaping a bunch of bombs on them. It takes sweaty bodies on the ground. And you can’t pacify a cause or movement in those places with bodies unless you put a HELL of a lot of bodies on the ground, many of whom will perish there. And those bodies have to remain in perpetuity for as soon as you remove those bodies, the ‘cause’ reappears and it’s business as usual. For what reason and to what end? Machismo? To show how tough we can be? Maybe we should show how smart we can be for a change.
Of course, that would never go over with those Arm Chair Quarterbacks who NEVER served and love playing video games with our forces NOR those nickel-headed posters we see here who will NEVER serve either.
I’d say ‘bring on the draft,’ except Bushney would begin salivating in expectation of the new resources for their games.

Every time I take off my shoes going through airport security, I think that the terrorists have won. The main difference nationally is that fear and apathy rule while internationally our standing has decreased exponentially. Acting out of fear is not a position of strength.
