Question of the Day

9/6/07, 11:01 pm EST

From a reader of The Plank

Why doesn’t Obama just stick to a very simple message: “Experience? Senator, you’re a smart, valued colleague, but on the biggest domestic issue of recent years, the need for universal, affordable health insurance, you screwed it up so badly you set back the possibilities for almost a generation—we’re only just now beginning to get back to the point that we were at when you mismanaged that program in 1993. And on the biggest foreign policy issue in recent years, you just plain got it wrong—you voted to give this president the authority to start a war in Iraq, a war that is surely the biggest foreign policy debacle since Vietnam, and indeed will probably have graver consequences than even that catastrophe. That’s 0 for 2 on the most important questions facing our country. With all due respect, we could stand a bit less of your experience.”

Hits the nail on the head for me. How ’bout you?

I would go so far as to suggest that the fine Senator is not going to stick to those two issues due to one important thing,, Obama like the rest, really does not care.
Ask any Senator, if they work with anyone, live with anyone, or do business with anyone who does not have health care.
As far as Iraq, does it really matter who is elected??
We’ve seen that no one is going to ” Pull Out Of Iraq “, not Comrade Clinton, Not anyone on the Republican side, and not Barric bin Osama. Too much money to skim from, to much potential play on the American Patriotism and slipping in a few ” Pork Clauses ” on that funding bill,, you know, the “BILL” that funds the troops, gives them protection.
I dare either side to pull out of Iraq before the Iranian problem is addressed..
Not Going To Happen..
Why??
BECAUSE IF WE PULL OUT OF JOB THAT’S NOT FINNISHED, WE’RE GOING TO GET TO GO RIGHT BACK OVER THERE IN A FEW YEARS, JUST LIKE RIGHT NOW..
THOSE HOW FOUGHT IN DESERT STORM NOW WATCH THEIR CHILDREN FIGHT IN IRAQ TODAY..
Want to fight a Nuclear Iran in a few years, using our children as targets??
Now, if we think about that part of it, We might have reason to Finnish the job, not only in Iraq, but in the middle east..
And nope, I don’t agree with being over there in the first place.. but hay, if we want to fill up our cars for less than $100.00, that’s where we is gonna be, until we find a way to make oil obsolete..
OOOPS, I let it slip!!
SORRY, They didn’t want that out yet.
Might as well spill the beans, now that I’ve let the cat out of the bag..
FOLKS YOU WANT TO GET OUT OF THE ” MIDDLE EAST “, WITH THE WAR ON TERROR, AND MAKE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE??
THEN TAKE THIS ONE STEP,,
( MAKE OIL OBSOLETE!! )
That’s all ya gotta do.

With zilch experience in foreign relations, Obama should not serve as president. When you blame Congress for voting to authorize this war, remember that they were being fed disinformation through fabricated “intelligence”. I’m tired of people blaming Hillary Clinton for the lack of health care reform. The big business of insurance and pharmaceuticals will continue to thwart every attempt that anyone makes at jeopardizing their multi-billion dollar industries through a national health system reformation. You can make this current system obsolete by simply not getting sick. Ever.

Hillary's got no experience | 9/7/2007, 12:54 pm EST

Hillary purports to have more foreign policy experience than Obama…not so. As a member of the Armed Services committee, she has not offered any meaningful legislation. She has been to Iraq only once, I believe, and used that trip to validate and co-opt what other Senators (Joe Biden and Chris Dodd among them) have been saying for a long time.

In fact, the only legislation of any import that Sen. Clinton has introduced would be the Flag-Burning Amendment and attempts to censor video games.

She did sit in on some high-level meetings with foreign dignataries while Bill was Pres, but was not a part of those negotitions.

The only Democratic candidates with true foreign policy experience are Richardson and Biden.

With all due respect… OH SNAP!

But if Obama were to come out guns blazin like that he better step it up on the next war funding vote. Neither Hillary nor Obama made a prominent stand on the last vote. If you are going to run for president, don’t you think you should be showing better leadership in the Senate… um… NOW?

And this is why Kucinich will get my vote in the primary. He’s a man of his WORD. Did you hear that Hillary? Because I live in your fine state, and you are losing me quick.

Word.

Sixinonehand | 9/7/2007, 7:15 pm EST

Hey Mainstream Media (yes, that includes you Rolling Stone):
If you don’t want Hillary elected president of the United States, then DON’T write about her anymore. We all know the media controls the candidates. That’s why there’s no coverage of Kucinich on 60 minutes. Or, Dodd. It’s not ‘equal time for all candidates’, as it’s supposed to be.

Please,

NO one has any experience when it comes to being Prez.

DirtyDennis | 9/8/2007, 9:01 am EST

To amplify.

When it comes to being Prez, you either “got it” or you “don’t got it.” It’s what’s between your ears, in your heart and in your gut. Trying to project which of those ‘abilities’ a candidate possesses and which of those they will admirably display if seated in the oval office is the conundrum.

As has been aptly expressed herein and hereabouts, we only know of the candidates based on the coverage accorded that person by the mainstream media. Given the vagary of THAT ‘institution,’ it’s a crapshoot at best, at least at this point. Once each party selects a candidate, THEN we start getting a pretty good idea what’s in store for us. But by then, we can’t go back. Or can we?

Anyway, at this juncture, of the top three, it seems to break down this way:

Hillary has the brains and guts but I worry about her heart.

Edwards has the brains, appears to have the heart, but I’m not sure about the guts.

Obama has the brains, the heart and it would appear, I hope, the guts.

By the by, ‘guts’ is a gray area in any case. You can NEVER tell who’s going to stand in a fight and who will crumble. Moreover, I place instinct within the guts. Your brain and your heart teach you instincts, but it’s your guts that’s the delivery system. That area is REALLY gray and guess what, we have to trust ours.

Sorry! I forgot the last and most important sentence to my rant about fake Osama tapes..
….and so, like the fake Osama tapes the answer to you question of the day is: Obama and the rest, they all follow the scripts ‘others’ have written for them.

These are not real Democrats!

REALITY-ALERT-WATCH “RED DAWN” TAKE BACK THE PEOPLES AMERICA ,BEFORE IT`S TOO LATE!!!!!!

Let Them Eat Cake | 9/10/2007, 3:28 am EST

Hmm, Somebody needs to be in Charge, Who allows Posts…Wow, how hard is it?

The GOP spokesman seems to get more than his share….

Let Them Eat Cake | 9/10/2007, 12:55 pm EST

Another Try!

With “polls” coming out today “asserting” that the American people will listen to Petraeus and the other Bush-appointed “Generals” to decide whether we should stay or leave Iraq-is like Insurance Executives if the coverage you are getting is Fair…

Anyone who comes in Striking Distance of Bush seems to become Compromised way below Integrity…

The same publisher at the Times who published Judith Miller’s “Special White House compromised Views on the merits of the War in Iraq” must be giving out the “Poll Numbers”…Impressive!(Appoint ments, Promotions and, Raises will insure so much “Support”.

Obama gets it/Edwards gets it-the War is A Bungle and needs to Wind-Down…

removal of information | 9/10/2007, 2:34 pm EST

I posted 2 links to articles on both these candidates showing some of their lobbying history last week. They showed up for about a day. Now they are gone. To the people removing them, you are doing a disservice to everyone by taking away relevant information about these two candidates. Theres not much worse you can do to this country. You aught to be ashamed.

Hector Calvo | 9/10/2007, 3:19 pm EST

It would be great if he said that, but what if he said that and Hillary won.

J | 10/15/2007, 8:54 pm EST

I am increasingly of the opinion that Obama is now running for vice-president,,…
