It would be easy to blame Gen. Petraeus, but he has a hard job to do. It should be no supprise that weapons given to Iraqs so called army are being used against Americans. The hasty arming of Iraqis was a mistake.

I Got You Bender.... | 8/6/2007, 4:51 pm EST

There are people out there who predicted all of this before the invasion. Those same people were noted as saying the Bush Administration’s goal was to turn Iraq into a failed state. Well, they’re starting to look like prophets, aren’t they? Honestly, can an American President be THIS stupid? There’s no way in hell, unless it’s deliberate, that so many things can be botched. With all the false propoganda being perpetrated from this administration, why would we believe that arming the militias will help?? Everything they’re doing and saying is based on American apathy. It will be forgotten in a few days, or after a couple more starbucks coffees, jamba juices, and a few tankfulls of gas. Wake up, smell the coffee, and have a beautiful day. Our White House is filled with empirical whackjobs who could care less about ‘American Ideology’, or the Constitution.
For your own, and everybody’s well being, stop believing, or even listening to anything anybody from this current administration says. Live your life, hope for the best, and ‘pray’ that the architects of this invasion pay the price, soon.

Halliburton and the other non-bid players have ripped us off for millions…or is it billions?

What makes THIS any different?

Someone has a huge pile of American dollars in their Swiss account thanks to us lazy taxpayers NOT paying attention…

C U in Hell | 8/6/2007, 7:51 pm EST

They should change the name of this blog to “National Affairs Weekly.” This is old-ass news, people.

Jed Clampett | 8/6/2007, 10:38 pm EST

I believe you are thinking of the fiasco with the high grade explosives that where driven away under the very noses of our military from Iraq’s largest weapons depot at the beginning of the war.

190 thousands Kalashnikovs is nothing compared with the $50 billion worth of weaponry we are planning to sell them to fight us with.
Did anyone watch that Nik Cage movie where he’s an arms dealer? Remember who helped him out? Here’s the beautiful part, the story is based on a real arms dealer who really was released over and over again by higher ups. Why do you think that was?

Remember Ollie North and how he found it perfectly OK to import cocaine into East LA in order to buy more weapons for nicaraguans. Aparently our government was on the wrong side of the war on drugs because they pardoned him and his cohorts. You didn’t think he did it by himself, did you? Probably used military transports.

Now ask yourself why is it that Afghanistan, under western countrie’s control, has become the largest producer of poppy, the root product of heroin, morphine and other highly addictive and devastating drugs? Oh yea, elections coming up soon, they need to do some fundraising. Why is you daughter dressing grunge and idolizing Kurt Kobaine? Is your govenment helping you or pulling the wool over your eyes?

It would appear Mr. Hell, that your attention span could use some expanding. Should some really egregious oversight be ignored because it’s not timely?

And frankly, it’s National AFFAIRS Daily, not National NEWS Daily.

Speaking of ‘news,’ some of the best of it are subjects revisited.

Puremuny | 8/7/2007, 1:56 pm EST

Doesn’t the US Military do a daily inventory? I really don’t see that much in equipment just leaving.

DELTAWILDMAN | 8/7/2007, 2:00 pm EST

HOW MANY TRILLIONS OF WELFARE DOLLARS HAVE VANISHED OVER THE LAST 50 YEARS??
HOW MANY FEMA DOLLARS HAVE VANISHED FROM KATRINA??

LET’S TAKE THIS ONE STEP MORE,,

WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO “BLIND JUSTICE”?

Hallzee | 8/7/2007, 4:01 pm EST

Good thing that this group of people is not on a Jury, there would be no need for any trials. Halliburton, Ollie North, Poppy and Arms Dealers?
This blog has all the answers to solve the world’s problems. I am just proud to know all of you.

Hallzee | 8/8/2007, 12:49 pm EST

Cake,

It’s amazing how you can take a post about missing guns in Iraq and turn it in to Halliburton, Bridges Collapsing, and 9/11, while praising Clinton in the Mid 90’s and Blaming Bush at the same time.

Refresh my memory. What tragedy did FEMA have to deal with when Clinton was in office that ran so smoothly? This military that you speek of that was so beneficial to it’s personell in the 90’s. Was this the military that Reagan fought so hard to build up only to have Clinton destroy it with budget cuts that directly affected maintenance and training which resulted in record aircraft training crashes? Although we know that Clinton had so many enemies and threats to deal with in the mid 90’s.

Although your post was well written.

Merkwurdigliebe | 8/8/2007, 1:26 pm EST

yep, hallzee has a point

aside from hurrican andrew or el nino, the 90s were a breeze in terms of large scale disasters…because of this clinton cut funding and gutted the organization…bush made it worse by appointing that incompetent slug “brownie”

as for terrorism, i hate to break it to you, but yes clinton was soft on terrorism, but so was every other president since carter! 9/11 didnt just happen in a vacuum, it is the culmination of several decades and several presidents, including bush and clinton, that led to 9/11 (blowback anyone?)”Bwame Clinton”? well yes, and “Bwame” other presidents as well(since when did clinton become totally blameless?)

clinton does deserve merit for knowing not to mess with a good thing–he inherited reagan’s economy and kept it going, but it also should be noted the clinton was the one who signed all of the laws that initiated the globalism you so soundly decry, thus opening the gate for our current business atmosphere

as for the germany parallel–not likely, bush is out in a year and a half and has yet to assume dictatorial control, despite frothing leftist and conservative demands.

DELTAWILDMAN | 8/8/2007, 1:45 pm EST

I BELEIVE JUST AS MANY PEOPLE DIED IN THAT MASSIVE HEAT WAVE THAT BILL CLINTON OVERLOOKED BACK IN THE HOME OF ” DA BEARS “, FEMA WENT IN TOO LATE,,, OVER 1000 PEOPLE DIED, how many people died in katrina??
AND LET’S NOT FORGET THAT (BAR-B-QUE ” DOWN WACO WAY ” THAT JANET RENO, THE MAN WITH THE PLAN,) WITH THAT DAVID KURESH FELLOW, I KNOW DAVID AND HIS DUDES WERE BAD, BUT WHAT DID THE ” CHIREN ” DO THAT WAS BAD??

Jed Clampett | 8/9/2007, 12:24 am EST

a bit off topic but I guess it’s just another example of american incompetence, regardless of political affiliation. If anyone was truly paying attention they would know that the levees didn’t bust until three hours after the storm had passed, this is not the effects of the storm but the mismanagement of the rivers and the canals. Read a little Schauberger and you will understand. Modern day hydraulogist don’t take into acount water temperature or the way that water moves in temperature gradients and vortices. Look at what is going on in India, same thing. We’ve made an enemy of the water and we are no match for such a powerful enemy. She must be coaxed into being our friend again.

Yet another prime example of why Big Brother needs to stay the hell out of health care….

Jed Clampett | 8/13/2007, 1:14 pm EST

we just want the same as congress gets. Why should they get conprehensive, fully paid for healthcare while the rest of the country has to put up with BS from greedy companies that take and take and refuse to do what they are supposed to, take care of the people’s health. Some education and prevention programs would be smart too. But not as profitable as having a patient in treatment and medicines in perpetuity.

You know, if the government really wanted health care for every man, woman, and child they would go after the insurance companies. What’s the tallest building in my town? INSURANCE COMPANY… The feds are in bed with big insurance. Why are all the states now demanding proof of insurance? Trial lawyers and insurance companies are raping and pillaging America and I’m a god damned victim…
