Go to school. Get a job. Work Hard.
And you could be a CEO one day. What a concept! Don’t hate because someone makes more than you.

Soon, the minimum wage will be 10 dollars an hour.

As a former intern for this company i just wanted to say that I have run more errands for Jann Wenner than any graph known to man could accurately chart.
C.E.O. pay? How about C.E.O. pamperedness?
I Got You Bender.... | 7/30/2007, 5:07 pm EST
How about this: Stop outsourcing jobs and counting them toward the employment rate. CEO pay skyrocketed, simulateously, when American companies started outsourcing their headquarters on foreign soil. While ‘jobs’ are on the rise, jobs on this soil aren’t. It’s a form of slave labor. Yes, you proponents are right. Go to school, get a job, work hard. But, nevertheless, even if the Big Business Scams don’t bother you, doesn’t mean it’s not wrong. And, yes, while CEO pay is on the rise because of cheap labor, minimum wage hasn’t risen with it. Does that sound fair? I know, I know. Just more liberal garbage, right? Imagine, for one minute, if you can, what the world would be like if liberals DIDN’T fight for these kinds of things. Sure, the Dow Jones INDUSTRIAL average would rise, but, if you ask me, that doesn’t mean a damn thing. It’s not a barometer of our economic heartbeat. It’s an example of how much money the top 1% makes……
he make more than me! | 7/30/2007, 5:26 pm EST
Guess how many people are saying the exact same thing about you and I.
Merkwurdigliebe | 7/30/2007, 10:57 pm EST
ceo’s are only worth what the stockholders think they are, but at the same time ol’ Bender has a point outsourcing is good, but to a point–like anything, capitalism is best in moderation
that said, keep the minimum wage where it is, and bring it back to its original purpose–as an entry level salary, for high schoolers and college age kids and the like who intend to move on to another, higher paying job
i was wondering…does the graph take into account all types of CEO’s, such as self employed and small business types? or are we merely talking about huge multinational CEO’s, living in Roman Emperor like opulence and splendor?
Capitalist Pig | 7/31/2007, 8:34 pm EST
So how about a graph showing how much the musicians who appeared on the cover of RS last year made. The left is getting the class warfare machine cranked up for the election.
I Got You Bender..... | 8/1/2007, 10:06 am EST
Hey Cap Pig. Did those musicians tell their roadies to buy up a bunch of stock in the group, then sell off all their shares? Do those musicians lobby, and subsequently get their way, with politicians? Do those musicians keep wages down among the laborers, while their profit rises every quarter? Do those musicians outsource their labor overseas, then write off the health care costs? But, sure, you’re right (sarcasm in FULL effect). This is the democratic spin machine, regardless of the validity of the topic, huh?

“Great Economy”
One/Third-Wallstre et(though it hasn’t even been doing too well) and Two/Thirds-working America, Private sector-Not Good…
Infra-structure coallapsing, Funds Missing, New Orleans still abandoned, Halliburton Execs filthy(And I do mean Filthy)rich, fifty million Americans without health insurance, job out-sourcing up the kazoo, college tuitions all time high, college scholarships depleted, tax cuts galore for the wealthy, military in dire need to equipment, supplies, health benefits, better hospitals, health care system down, public education bare-boned, wages and benefits decreased from 2000, promotions stagnant-FEMA and other saftey net programs that can make or break our country and how we respond to natural or man-creatd disasters are low to empty…
“Go to school, get a job, work hard” is BS…When the jobs, the education, the health care isn’t there, that is a redundant “hype” that only Mocks the Grim Reality the Republicans have placed our country in…
The bridge in Minnesota, the Miners in Utah, Katrina left Undone all are the Contributions of a Party too concerned with personal gain, fascist control, and helping corporate and the wealthy at the expense of our Infra-structure…

I’d like to see any of you live on minimum wage; I’m well-educated and can’t find employment beyond indefinite, “unbenefited,” adjunct teaching contracts, two or three classes a semester. Try living on that and paying back student loans in excess of $180,000 (the interest rates have increased what I owe significantly since I’m on income contingent repayment scheduling). I went to school — a good school — graduated at the top of my class in my 30s. I work hard, damned hard, when given the chance. Give me the chance, damn it, but pay me more than a pittance, so I can eat more than beans and cornbread, so I can go to the doctor for my healthcare needs, and so I can pay for car insurance instead of driving to work (485 miles a week) illegally.
