Newt Plays Hardball

7/24/07, 12:38 pm EST

I think Newt is inching closer to the ring where he’ll throw his hat:

Check out his dim view of the competition — to say nothing of Chris Matthews and Hardball (Via The Daily Dish):

“You’re watching an utterly irrelevant, shallow television celebrity dominate everybody who claimed they want to lead the most powerful nation in the world.”

Them’s publicity seekin’ words. The kind that will soon have the former speaker on Hardball himself.

I feel safer in regards to Newt because as crazy as he is, he is willing to be honest about his ideas. It is a wonderful feeling to know where a politician really stands on an issue. For that alone, I can forgive some of his less terrifying ideas.

DELTAWILDMAN | 7/24/2007, 3:51 pm EST

LOOKS LIKE NEWT DOES NOT AGREE WITH LIBERALS IN EITHER PARTY,, THE DEMOCRAT OR THE REPUBLICAN PARTIES..

GOOD FOR HIM!!
AT LEAST HE’S WILLING TO POINT OUT PROBLEMS IN HIS OWN PARTY..

Dallas | 7/24/2007, 4:05 pm EST

Newt is another real threat to democracy. I would be worried except for the fact that he is unelectable. I don’t think a majority of the country would vote for someone named Newt. Not that his name really matters, but the public will probably see it this way.

Fride at the Steak | 7/24/2007, 5:08 pm EST

Hey Delta: Another freudian slip?? It’s the DemocratIC party. Why is that so hard for some people. Or, is it deliberate? In that case, why?
Newt has zero chance of winning the Presidency unless the neocons pull off some sort of scam again and steal the election. If popular vote mattered, which we know it doesn’t, republicans would never win another election. Not until they change their racist, oppressive ideology.

C Co... aka I Smell Propaganda | 7/24/2007, 6:08 pm EST

How scary is it that of the last 3 posts DELTAWILDMAN sounded the smartest and made the most sense? Ignorance breeds hate, I suppose.

I actually really admire Newt for his refusal to play BS politics with the issues and actually offer some candid, honest solutions. If you don’t like what they are (WHICH WOULD REQUIRE ACTUALLY KNOWING HIS POSITIONS), don’t vote for him. But his mentality is a breath of fresh air in today’s political environment.

DELTAWILDMAN | 7/24/2007, 7:20 pm EST

FRIDE
AT LEAST I DIDN’T SAY “DEMOCRAP”

Hallzee | 7/24/2007, 8:18 pm EST

Newt is playing it smart by sitting back and letting the other Republicans stumble over each other. Republicans such as myself are not happy with who we have and I think Newt is the one to rally the Party. Newt is just what I have been waiting for. Newt is the Reagan Conservitive that I thought I voted for in Bush, but “W” proved me wrong!

The Dems will try to hit him strong on his personal life because they do not want to challenge him on the issues. Newt will not sugar-coat it and go for the kill with his take no prisoner attitude. And he’s smart enough to back it up.

NEWT/08′

Jed Clampett | 7/24/2007, 11:22 pm EST

wow, Newt resonated with the prop snorter, now I know he’s on the Dark Side of the force.

Of course the prop thinks delta is smart. they resonate at the same low brainwave frequency.

You have to like Newt’s plan for dealin with Iran though… Nuke’m!!! yea, that will promote stability in the middle east. Perhaps he can do away with alimony as well, lord knows it’s cost him a fortune.

Dom Lucy Synapse | 7/25/2007, 12:31 am EST

If Newt wants to run, I’d suggest holding off for this round. Personally I think the Dems are more or less guaranteed a win in 2008. His best hope is that it will be that the winner will be the New Millenium’s Jimmy Carter, as in, someone who won largely thanks to the horrific evil of the preceding administration (moreso Nixon than Ford), who will be vanquished as soon as he/she tries to pin the blame on Americans (not that they don’t deserve it, but just because they’d rather here about how great they are, enter Ronny). Not that he makes me think Reagan-esque, but you see what I mean.

Fride at the Steak | 7/25/2007, 7:16 pm EST

Being steadfast is honorable, obviously. A few of these posts have mentioned that Noot’s honest and forthright about his ideas. So, let me get this straight. Even though his ideas are designed to oppress certain races, and distinctions, it’s okay because he’s being candid? People won’t seem to forget or forgive Bill for his misgivings in the Oval Office, but Noot gets a mulligan for his indiscretion?? Call a spade a spade, is all I’m saying. How can a man be forthright, candid and honest if he’s a proven cheater? THREE TIMES, AT LEAST!

Jed Clampett | 7/25/2007, 11:22 pm EST

Hey Fride, they just have to make arguments, no one said they have to be logical arguments.

Concerned Reader | 7/26/2007, 5:28 am EST

Hey Tim,

Not related to the post, but where the hell is Matt Taibbi lately? Has his column ended? I love his stuff; would be a shame if he left.

All 3 of your statements are wrong Jed.

#1: I said the Deltawildman made the most sense of the 3 comments. That was a slam on the other two commentators, not an acknowledgement of Wildman’s intelligence.
#2: I never said I’d vote for Newt or even liked the guy. What I admire is his honesty and forwarding thinking when it comes to the big issues.
#3: When did Newt want to nuke Iran? You don’t know anything about the guy or his positions besides what the liberal blogs (that you consider news) shove down your throat.

Jed Clampett | 7/26/2007, 6:16 pm EST

oh man… :D you’re hillarious!!!

DELTAWILDMAN | 7/26/2007, 7:36 pm EST

SAME LOW BRAINWAVES?
AW COME ON,, YOU CAN DO WAY BETTER THAN THAT…
IT DON’T GET FUNNY UNTIL SOMEONE GET’S MAD AND STARTS POSTING COMMENTS ON SOMEONE’S MENTAL ABILITY??
WELL, I’D LIKE TO BE THE FIRST TO SAY, I’VE NOT QUESTIONED ANYONE’S MENTAL ABILTIY, NOR HAVE I GOTTEN PERSONAL..
WHY??
BECAUSE I’M ABOVE THAT..
MIGHT WANT TO TRY IT SOMETIMES,
THE WEATHER IS GREAT UP HERE, LEND ME A PAW, AND I’LL TRY AND PULL BOTH OF YOU UP HERE WITH ME..
UNTIL THEN, EITHER OF YOU WANT TO PLAY FETCH??

Pooh bear | 7/26/2007, 7:57 pm EST

He’s a teacher. A long winded short on ideas kind of guy, I think he was talking about getting kids into PE the other day. Yeah, he’s braking the bank on ideas.

OK.

Remind me.

Why is anyone interested in this insignificant loser? He isn’t worth the time you’ve spent on him.

End of story.

Smedly Dooright | 7/27/2007, 9:58 am EST

What the hell happened to Matt Taibbi? Is he still with Rolling Stone?

Fride at the Steak | 7/27/2007, 3:21 pm EST

Hitler was forthright also. Just because a man is steadfast in his ideology doesnt make it admirable.

You’re very egotistical for a guy that gets shut down continuously and has nothing to say afterwards.

C Co... aka I Smell Propaganda | 7/27/2007, 4:28 pm EST

“Hitler was forthright also.”

Well no actually… completely wrong. Hitler slowly became the racial he did and backdoored his way into dictatorship after being elected on a positive and patriotic platform. You liberals should opening up history books before throwing historical names around.

Fride at the Steak | 7/27/2007, 5:49 pm EST

Is that all you do Prop Licker? Do you constantly try to refute everything everybody posts with some horribly dictated spew? “You Liberals”. Keep pointing the finger at the liberals. But, realize that they’re the only reason we don’t live in a communist or fascist or any other ‘ist’ nation. But, if you got a problem with that, you could always move to North Korea and try some of your Prop there…….

DELTAWILDMAN | 7/27/2007, 10:35 pm EST

HITLER WAS A SHORT MAN,,
HAD AN UNDERBIGHT THAT CAUSED HIM TO GRIND HIS TEETH AT NIGHT.
I DON’T THINK HITLER EVER SLEPT THE WHOLE NIGHT THROUGH, AND HE DIDN’T LIKE HORSES,,
BUT OTHER THAN THAT….
WHO THE HELL CARES??

Word | 7/29/2007, 3:26 am EST

George W. Bush cares. He’s the one who was eating with Hitler’s forks and knives. Skull and Bones forever apparently.

Aaron Burr | 7/29/2007, 8:43 am EST

Hitler was a hate-crazed wacko bent on world domination. No one should have to read “Mein Kampf,” so google it and ‘review’ and read about it. The first installment was written in 1924.

Anytime Hitler played nice was to further his ultimate plan.

Let Them Eat Cake | 8/2/2007, 3:02 am EST

CCo,

Maybe you should start worrying about your political position/”reasoning” when “DeltaWildman” starts “sounding
smart”.

Dr. Ralph | 8/6/2007, 1:06 pm EST

Nobread, you commenting on someone not sounding smart is so ridiculous I can’t even put it into the proper context.

Gingrich has one of those truly Republican History’s of “Integrity, moral fortitude, intelligence and, concern for humanity…

Yea, right!

The wife he left in the hospital fighting deadly Cancer when he announced he was leaving her and his kids for aother woman, his money-laundering to finance his “political campaigns” via his teaching courses at a university, his abandonment of second and third wives after sleazy affairs, his empty promises in the ‘94 congressional Republican take-over(that’s when our infra-structure started collapsing in tandem), his presiding over the Clinton witchhunt and pointing his soiled finger at Bill when he was rapped up in his own sleazy adulterous affair-he went “bye, bye” after that, at the urging of his own Party…

Tell us all how “Great Gingrich is” and it should produce serious laughter with anyone that has any look at political history…

Newt and Nazi Toot deserves only the Boot!
