NOW, THEREFORE, I, GEORGE W. BUSH, President of the United States of America, pursuant to my powers under Article II, Section 2, of the Constitution, do hereby commute the prison terms imposed by the sentence upon the said Lewis Libby to expire immediately, leaving intact and in effect the two-year term of supervised release, with all its conditions, and all other components of the sentence.

Once, again, the President goes against the opinion of the majority of Americans. A democracy is about the citizen majority, and he chooses to defy it every single time. Yes, Libby’s reputation has been tarnished. But, not anymore than anyone’s associated with this white house cabinet. We have to remember the theme of this guy’s lies. The outing of Plame was part of the strategy of smearing anyone opposed to the Iraq invasion. Hmmm. Republicans don’t like when people lie about blowjobs, but if you lie about your reasons to invade a country, it’s okay, history will be the judge. Just don’t pull your pants down, unless you’re Mark Foley. Keep livin the Empirical Dream GOP. Meanwhile, common sense and decency will rule in the end. It always does.

What are the chances that this would come down on the same day of a so called terrorism scare. Good lord I hate these guys, both sides Dems and Gop.

Isn’t outing a covert CIA agent paramount to treason, and isn’t treason punishable by death. Now I don’t think Libby should be executed for his crime, but he should remain in prison for the 30 months.

surprised? keep the troops in iraq…better there than kicking in doors here. that shouldn’t com as a surprise either.

Bill Clinton is Jesus Christ himself next to George W. Bush.

No jail time for Scooter… wow what a surprise. Now if was just a multi-millionaire socialite like Paris instead of a Washington insider he might have actually done some time at Club Fed. No bars, no fences, no problem.

Seems to me that the way for the Junta to cover their asses on this is to nuke Iran.

Ha Ha Bush! | 7/3/2007, 10:07 am EST

Wait till Bush see what this does to his approval rating. That’ll show him.

I’ll bet HIS wife won’t be able to find some easy state to get elected to the Senate in and later use to launch a run for the Presidency like Clinton. Ha!

Wow, this left wing drivel practically writes itself! That explains a lot.

Rorshach | 7/3/2007, 12:26 pm EST

ugh, conservatives are happy, liberals are angry…yawn

before anyone freaks out, it should be remembered that the president does have the constitutional power to pardon, and while i dont agree with the pardon (just like i didnt agree with clinton pardoning mark rich) the president is fully in right to do so

and to whomever said this was a democracy, you’re wrong–we’re a representative republic, and our “representatives” are too insulated from the public weal methinks

Puremuny | 7/3/2007, 2:06 pm EST

Rorshach,

So did Hitler!

You can do some research on Grandpa “Nazi” Bush

commonality | 7/3/2007, 2:24 pm EST

I hate bush but you have to do better than that to prove a point. ‘Bush breaths air, gasp! so did hitler! Non sequitur argument away!’

Also, isn’t a representative republic redundant? The whole point of a republic is that a minority of people elected by the people represent them in dictating law. I’m not trying to be contrary, I actually am curious.

Kick the bum out.

How much CRAP are we going to put up with from this guy?

NIXON got booted out of town for less than this!

Time to take back the U S A !!!!!!

Puremuny | 7/5/2007, 2:59 pm EST

Rorshach,

Who was the legal representative for Mark Rich in getting his pardon? Scooter Libby

How totally counter to how he used clemency here in texas while governor, he had a retarded person put to death and a woman, who after suffering decades of abuse killed her ‘man’ and turned herself in. In prison the woman was a model prisoner, counseling others and running prayer and learning workshops. Apparently her repentance and atonement wasn’t enough for Bush to commute her sentence to just life in prison. I guess if she had helped some rich guys lie and get richer she may have been spared.

So, are we in hell, or just trying to turn paradise into it?
Why is it that evil acts are usually rewarded and evil actors enjoy prosperity, while the righteous are mired in poverty and misery?
Are we GOD’s people, or merely convincing ourselves that we work for God when the antithesis is more likely? would you know how to tell the difference?
