Immediately, and I mean immediately after reading the presidential farewell interview in the January 2009 issue, I combed the internet for confirmation regarding the Laotian youth who was accidentally killed on the grounds of the White House. Mr. Taibbi, I found none! It appears that you have a pretty solid reputation. So I ask you, if Colin Powell told you this and the president appears to lend credence to the event, why can’t I find supporting information which attests to this event? After all, your article is suggesting that Bush is disclosing a death on the White House premises. Please comment at your earliest convience.
Thank You. 01/15/09 @ 3:48pm est.

Kevin | 7/26/2008, 2:19 am EST

Zdrast’,
How often do you keep in touch with Mark Ames? I never thanked you properly for the 10 rubles you gave me at the Jazz Cafe.

Joe | 1/31/2008, 3:11 pm EST

Hey Taibbi…in your opinion, who has the saltier set of balls, Hillary or Obama? Figured you may know…let’s see how “inside” you really are .

Still no Q/A

Smedly Dooright | 6/22/2007, 1:08 am EST

It is now Friday. Where the hell is the Q&A? Come on, it can’t be that hard.

yossarian | 6/21/2007, 4:56 pm EST

when do you think a modern-day von stauffenberg will arise and rid us of these psychos?

yossarian | 6/21/2007, 4:54 pm EST

Larry Balls | 6/21/2007, 4:22 pm EST

Eddie | 6/21/2007, 4:05 pm EST

Once again, I can’t find the one thing I want to read on this web-site. I know Rolling Stone aint what it used to be, but spend just a little time orgainizing things so your readers can find the stories they want.

Brint | 6/21/2007, 12:39 pm EST

So, do you like politics?

Smedly Dooright | 6/21/2007, 12:37 pm EST

I heard Matt Taibbi left Russia because he got into a drunken brawl with Boris Yeltsin.

Hey Rolling Stone, it’s Thursday - where the hell is the Q&A?

Clarity | 6/21/2007, 12:04 am EST

Why did you really leave Russia? You have never really been honest about that.

C U in Hell | 6/20/2007, 11:30 pm EST

Just how fucking bad do things have to get before they start getting better? How many of our country’s institutions do Republicans have to subvert before this lazy-ass, celebrity-obsessed, sitcom-watching populace wakes up and does something about it?

Barbcast | 6/20/2007, 7:57 pm EST

When will the impeachment process begin? Will the msm show us what many of us are not so patiently waiting for? Lots of video featuring the Bush gang heading to gen pop in a maxium security prison would be like a Christmas gift in July.

Gigantor | 6/20/2007, 4:15 pm EST

Did Hillary kill Vince Foster?

T.J.B | 6/20/2007, 3:46 pm EST

In regards to the question of whether or not I or the press would support a war with Iraq if Al Gore were president the answer is pretty easy. I would not, war against third world countries is no my cup of tea. The press does whatever its told for about six years until the public tells it to do something different.

Brien Comerford | 6/20/2007, 3:27 pm EST

Al Gore is great but if he really wants to end global warming, he should become a vegetarian. The inhumane beef, pork, poultry and fishing industries are responsible for massive air, water and land pollution that exacerbate global warming. They also decimate ecosystems and biodiversity.

Stevorama | 6/20/2007, 2:59 pm EST

How did Scooter Libby earn his nickname? Did he enjoy scooting across Cheney’s office like a dog cleaning his ass on the carpet?

Stevorama | 6/20/2007, 2:04 pm EST

Which president is scariest:
Ruthless bastard (Nixon)
Horny hillbilly (Clinton)
Retarded drunkard (G.W. Bush)

Hallzee | 6/20/2007, 12:48 pm EST

If Gore were President and Invaded Iraq, Would you support the War, and do you beleive that the Press would support the War?

Hallzee | 6/20/2007, 12:44 pm EST

Would you ever vote for a Republican?

Me | 6/20/2007, 11:25 am EST

Will you be my friend?

QuasiMofo888 | 6/20/2007, 12:08 am EST

What’s your drug of choice while watching the presidential debates?

Paul | 6/19/2007, 9:44 pm EST

Bloomberg?

Will his presidential campaign’s subtitle be “A Draculoid in the Whitehouse for ‘08″ provided he runs as an independent and Count Giuliani gets the Republican nomination?

dan | 6/19/2007, 6:49 pm EST

why is it that only 4 years after the “vietnam war election”, america all of a sudden doesn’t care about any candidate’s past?

Skip | 6/19/2007, 4:55 pm EST

Will any American presidential candidate ever utter the phrase “UN Resolution 242″ or the word “Palestine”?

MJ | 6/19/2007, 4:51 pm EST

Matt,

With everything that’s going on in this country–the Iraq quagmire, threat of war with Iran, outrageous gas prices, a presidential race that began a year and a half early, just to name a few–why aren’t we out in the streets? What’s it going to take? How much is too much?

DeezNutz | 6/19/2007, 3:02 pm EST

sorry, I forgot a “you” in there

DeezNutz | 6/19/2007, 3:01 pm EST

Matt-

I’m still one of the “hopelessly stupid”. Are ever gonna write the third part to your 9/11 series? If not, why?

Deez

Money City Maniac | 6/19/2007, 1:02 pm EST

Do you think it’s possible we will ever have a candidate for the presidency who runs for no other reason than love of country? One with a chance, that is.

mbfl | 6/19/2007, 12:10 pm EST

do you see anyone on the horizon who has the courage to make the changes and the truly unpopular decisions neccessary to make our democracy work again. do we have any real leaders out there?

Bill Hicks | 6/19/2007, 11:54 am EST

I think that this idea that America is addicted to oil is so inane. Ordinary Americans are not addicted to oil - we just use whatever the industrialists spoonfeed us. If they want to provide hemp methanol fuel at the local gas station, cool, we’ll use that. Addicted to petroleum? Rubbish!

hey | 6/19/2007, 9:53 am EST

To libsandconssuck: You make some valid points but there was no reason to take a stab at journalism as a major. There are still plenty of good journalists if you actually take the time to look, and it can be a rewarding and challenging career. What I find humorous is that if you are so offended by this magazine/its journalists/his postings, why patronize this site at all? You could just choose not to visit it. Hmm….choosing….weren’t you just rambling about that? Idiot with logical fallacies.

Jay | 6/19/2007, 8:42 am EST

Matt,

While I suspect you’d rather have your balls gnawed off by an angry badger, will you be on the road with candidates in ‘08 like you were in ‘04? And if so, will you be focusing on any in particular? I mean, some are stories and some aren’t — Fred Thompson is the epitome of the empty-suit Warren G. Harding candidate, and you already shanked Giuliani — but do you think maybe you’d check out Ron Paul or Bill Richardson, for example?

Martin | 6/19/2007, 2:34 am EST

For all his flaws (and let’s face it: what world-leader isn’t thoroughly flawed ?) does Rudy G have enough human goodness in his stone-cold heart to be a viable President, or is he way too far gone across to the Dark Side ?

El Fuego Phallus | 6/18/2007, 9:02 pm EST

1) Have you ever tried to do an interview with blubbering vagi…I mean, Bill O’ Reilly?

2) What’s the state of American politics in 20 years? Continued imperialism and war mongering as we give other nations even more reasons to hate us? Or does the catastrophic state of the environment force the dolts in office to face reality?

3) Most importantly, is Scarlett Johansen the sexiest vixen in Hollywood?

Anonymous | 6/18/2007, 5:09 pm EST

Ummm…

I have a confession to make, I’m REAL AMERICAN. I posted that as a joke but I guess it sounded too real. Sorry for the confusion. So the answer is no, he isn’t for real.

Steve | 6/18/2007, 1:29 pm EST

Matt,

Are there any politicians out there that you actually admire?

J DAlessandro | 6/18/2007, 1:19 pm EST

Matt, knocking cardboard liberals in the way that you did it is too damn easy. Since when are the A.N.S.W.E.R. loonies, with the guy on stilts showing up at the anti-war rally, emblematic to you of “liberals?” You concentrated on the lunatic fringe to make your point, much like a Rush Limbaugh would have, and it weakens your argument, which is that liberalism is still fighting old battles that were won decades ago, or that it is still locked into a 1960’s mind set.
What is your idea of a modern ‘progressive’ agenda that won’t make you faint from embarrassment?

pete | 6/18/2007, 12:53 pm EST

1) Who was your most interesting interview? Who was your least interesting interview? Why?

2) Regardless of whether invading Iraq was a mistake, doesn’t the US have an obligation to help restore some semblance of order before we leave? Is there a danger of some form of genocide occurring if the US pulls out? How can America, in good conscience, leave the Iraqis to this conflict that it helped unleash?

Anonymous | 6/18/2007, 12:39 pm EST

how do we get out of Iraq?
and have you ever read anything by Scott Ritter?

Kraft Cheese Cleaner | 6/18/2007, 11:06 am EST

meglovesrs | 6/18/2007, 9:39 am EST

Sorry, but the comment below made me giggle… :]
2008 will be my first year voting. Any advice?

C U in Hell | 6/18/2007, 8:05 am EST

On a scale of 1-10, how doomed is this country?

duckenvy | 6/18/2007, 1:44 am EST

Is the Real American for real?

Tyler Bass | 6/18/2007, 12:19 am EST

Is “A Real American!!!” actually Allan Uthman in disguise?

I watched a documentary about the hippies on the History Channel featuring, featuring such radical 60’s laureates as Alan Ginsburg and Tim O’Leary.

You hold a similar publishing chair to P.J. O’Rourke and Thompson. Do you feel that your commentary in Spanking The Donkey set an inappropriate parallel between Vietnam and the modern Iraq War?

Vietnam was a draft war, whose “avoidees” included George W. Bush, as well as — by his own admission during the 2004 Democratic National Convention, Bill Clinton. While you have indeed travelled to the Green Zone, do you find that your sympathy for Iraq enlistees is more than you would have had for Vietnam draftees had you been in Wenner or Thompson’s place in ‘72?

Is responding to the delusions of rigidly and self-serving dogmatic Christians of the Republican Evangelical Base — while entertaining — retarding a right path out of the problems they cause?

The Beast has recently offered a crucial dig at Sam Harris for offering more excuses for the “white man’s tribe” than the similarly tit-for-tat inspired inhumanity toward the eastern world. If you wish to be truly individualistic, to travel that lone Road of Rage, how can you not offer similar disdain without rightfully pissing off at those dogmatically invested?

Is real peace possible? If so, how? (About the second part, kind of kidding.)

Who would you have voted for in 1868? More Republicans or more Democrats?

Mike | 6/17/2007, 7:56 pm EST

Hey Matt, boxers or briefs?

mr. know it all | 6/17/2007, 7:37 pm EST

Jesus is already back and he doesn’t like George Bush at all. this is what I believe and no one can prove me wrong!

Just an American | 6/17/2007, 7:17 pm EST

Hey Real American only the Sith deal in absolutes. Hows that for moral absolutes?

A REAL AMERICAN!!! | 6/17/2007, 6:52 pm EST

Why are you and your magazine trying to destroy the moral absolutes this nation was founded on? Why do you hate God and our troops and how can you not see that George W. Bush was put into office by God himself? Why are you advancing the sodomite and agenda to molest our children? Don’t you know about the sodomite conspiracy to legalize pedophilia?! Or maybe that’s what you want?! Sickos! Why do you promote pagan worship of the creation and not the creator (enviromentalism)? Why does your magazine promote the One World Government of the anti-christ brought about by the UN? Why are you telling our kids that life has no value by promoting evolution and abortion and pulling mandatory prayer out of schools?

When Christ reteurns all you liberals will have to answer to Him and explain why did all of these things! Repent now and beg for God’s forgivness and support the GOP because that is His party! Because they respect America’s christian heritage! If you have a problem with our nations Judeo/Christian heritage then move to North Korea! When Judgement Day comes, God will be looking down on our nation and punish it for it’s permissivenness with Jesus in his right hand and George W. Bush in his left!

Dear Matt:

Were you getting any work before you stole Rush Limbaugh’s act (and substituted a liberal bent)? Stop the rage; really stop it.

Your op-eds (to me) read like you are a plant by the nutwing corporate interests that i battle against everyday.

Tyler Bass | 6/17/2007, 3:34 pm EST

Considering that Rolling Stone’s plugging Ron Paul would only help shove Democrats even farther into anti-war and pot-legalization mode down primary road, why hasn’t Wenner Media built a gigantic golden idol to him on Avenue Of The Americas?

Dr. Ralph | 6/17/2007, 3:25 pm EST

Why is it that Al Gore has a heated swimming pool and W has one of the most energy efficient houses in Texas? Do you have a problem with Al not practicing what he preaches or is that just for peasants such as us? Oh and do you swallow?

mr. know it all | 6/16/2007, 7:59 pm EST

do you give any creadence to the idea that Bush never intended to win anything in Iraq or Afghanistan, but rather intended to occupy these lands as a deterrant to Iran,in the event Iran would try to exert influence in the former Soviet states{referred to as “the Stans”} on the eastern side of the Caspian sea ?With all the natural gas and oil beneath these countries Iran could head a new OPEC type cartel and dictate prices counter to western interests. your thoughts please.

Scott | 6/16/2007, 6:26 pm EST

Based on the public’s current reaction to the republican party, do you believe more intelligent and constitutionalist cadidates like Ron Paul will be dismissed as conservatives? Or will these presidential hopefuls still have a chance? What are your views on Republican candidates such as Ron Paul?
