Vote Suppression: The Real Justice Department Scandal

4/19/07, 1:48 pm EST

McClatchy Washington Bureau:

On virtually every significant decision affecting election balloting since 2001, the [DOJ's Civil Rights Devision's] Voting Rights Section has come down on the side of Republicans, notably in Florida, Michigan, Missouri, Ohio, Washington and other states where recent elections have been decided by narrow margins.Joseph Rich, who left his job as chief of the section in 2005, said these events formed an unmistakable pattern.

“As more information becomes available about the administration’s priority on combating alleged, but not well substantiated, voter fraud, the more apparent it is that its actions concerning voter ID laws are part of a partisan strategy to suppress the votes of poor and minority citizens,” he said.

So, can I even say that my vote counts in this country? I don’t know. Sometimes I doubt it though.

The behind-the-scenes activity by Repubs during the last two Presidential elections to keep
ex-prisoners from voting — especially in Florida — is well documented. I lived in West Palm Beach (FL) and listened to people on the radio and TV standing at the polls being turned away during the first Bush “win” because their name happened to be the same as someone on the new hit list. Coincidently, the list was prepared by a Company associated with the Bush campaign.

Same thing happened in several precincts in Ohio targeted by the Repubs.

Sadly, no one even slapped their hand for cheating.

Randi Rhodes on Air America was in West Palm Beach at the time, and was the only one to tell the truth about what was going on. Check her website for the archives.

Ex prisoners not allowed to vote? No wonder “Rapists and Murderers for Gore” didn’t deliver Florida.

Nothing has to be added to Robert Kennedy’s article some months ago. It was comprehensive, factual, and quite damning to our so called
Democratic system.
Gonzales is only a puppet. His removal will not change the culture of this White House. Rove is the puppet master, who has a much different vision of what this country’s laws should be. To Rove, the constitution is only a “piece of paper” that holds no weight in his inner sanctum of absolute power.

Clearly, this man has to be stopped, and held accountable for this actions. He should have no immunity. Time for him to testify.

I believe the way they think of the constitution is the same as their view of the geneva conventions…. ‘QUAINT’ ‘ANTIQUATED’ ‘NOT IN TUNE WITH MODERN LIFE’

The expulsion of Republican politicians involved in the Voting Fraud in 2000/2002/2004 and, a Clean-up of voting laws, easily- tampered voting machines, Laws to make “paper trails” mandatory, individual accountability of officials who work with the election process, paper ballots, oversight on election process from a neutral group of people and, standard ballots nationwide…

The media needs to be cleaned-up so there is Fairness in candiate coverage, Oversight, cutting the strings to sponsers who insist on biased coverage for politicians that Push Their Agenda, Political Hosts that aren’t paid Special Money by the GOP to favor their politicians/political candidates…

Carlson, Matthews, Beck, Blitzer, Zahn, Dobbs, Scarborough, King are all Republicans/Conservatives and, Olbermann is the only one that has a more liberal view…

Who will MSNBC replace Imus with?
Watch it be another one of the Mad Elephant Brigade…

It is disgusting to have No Choice in Political Commentaries-it is a nightmare to have most of the political anchors Spouting Propaganda for the Republican Party and trying to Fabricate Excuses for Criminal Behavior…

GOP apologists lamely attempt to diffuse what Bush and Cheney and Rove have done to “Install the Worst Excuses for Political Posts”, and Insult the American people on a daily basis in their attempted “Cover-Ups” and UnAmerican Policies…

It Reeks of Republican Stink…
The Constitution has been demeaned and robbed of its protections for Americans…

The most Vile of Frauds are being put in positions to Steal from our Country(Halliburton, Exxon, WalMart) and Slimy Inept Cronies not qualified to conduct Important Government Programs-(Rumsfeld-who still has an important job at the Pentagon-Frightening)add Brown, Miers, Gonzales, Chertoff, and God knows, who else is in various Sensitive Positions)…

We Are and Have Been In Big Trouble…

These Inepts were in charge when Disasters have occurred and made them Far Worse and Costly to our Nation…
