Tin Woman, Show Us Your Heart

3/14/07, 3:24 pm EST

Judith Warner has an insightfully honest look at why Hillary has trouble connecting on the stump:

Hillary’s a real tear-stopper. She has a voice that is metallic and somewhat atonal. She has the sentence structure and cadences of a political science professor. I do not mean these things as insults; she is trying out, after all, for the job of president of the United States, not fairy godmother. Nor, for that matter, your best friend. Hillary’s friends say she is warm and certainly very real. But she clearly isn’t wired to project “realness” on the national stage. And frankly, for political figures, projection is what matters most.

I’m not sure why the Dems are so in love with Hilary. I don’t think she’s an electable pres.

Gore/Obama 08′!

Klaatu | 3/14/2007, 5:31 pm EST

I don’t see a truly electable candidate among Dems or the GOP.

Obama – media darling, but the more people find out the less electable be becomes

Hillary – polarizing, unfairly saddled with a tainted legacy

Edwards – southern fried goofball

McCain – too old and bears visual reminders of his battle with cancer

Romney – Mormonism is regarded very poorly in the midwest and most of the country

The rest – not worth thinking about

DT | 3/14/2007, 7:19 pm EST

Hillarie is an opportunist from the pander bear wing of the democrat party. She does not deserve to be our first woman prez, and while im on the subject of firsts, obama barely deserves to be our first black prez

Jab | 3/14/2007, 9:15 pm EST

Yeah, I don’t understand the compunction people have with Hillary’s personality. It’s not a beauty contest or a public speaking contest. She’s clearly intelligent, a damn fine actress (she sometimes acts like she gives a shit), and a conniving prick. All traits I would look for in a President.

The only question I have, other than general disagreement with her fiscal policies, would concern her knowledge of foreign affairs. As the world grows smaller, the Executive won’t be able to get by with only a marginal knowledge of what’s happening abroad. Currently, McCain’s about he only with any where near enough experience, but he’s a neocon, so I’m not too keen.

Dude | 3/14/2007, 9:40 pm EST

Well said, DT. Speaking of which, one can only wonder whether “W” truly deserved to be America’s first neanderthal President.

mikeky | 3/15/2007, 10:07 am EST

DT–get a clue, loser. it’s the democratIC party. learn to use the correct names of the people you hate. you can do at least that much, can’t you?

and of COURSE she’s not electable. please. anybody that thinks she is going to be the first woman president is clearly not in full possession of their mental faculties. i don’t see anybody on either side that’s electable, to be quite honest. the decent republicans will never get past the crazy wackadoos on the right wing primaries and the electable democrats are suffering due to clinton and obama sucking all the air out of the room.

end result? there ain’t a winner among ‘em.

ray | 3/15/2007, 4:34 pm EST

I like Hillary but i dont like how she was for the war untill she stsrted running for president. Shes gonna have a hard time getting nominated Obama has momentum. If she runs against Rudy she we have to remind people Rudy isnt much different than Bush

Rustin | 3/15/2007, 10:56 pm EST

Klaatu,

I believe you left the two best candidates our(not most likely though), Dennis Krucinich (D), and Ron Paul(R). Personally I’m liberal, and I’m rooting for Ron Paul. CHECK THE NAME OUT IF YOU DON’T KNOW WHO I’M TALKING ABOUT!!!!!!!!!!

Rustin | 3/15/2007, 11:04 pm EST

And if I could have a request for RS, it would be to do an article on Ron, Nobody knows who he is! He ran for president in ‘04. It is a bummer that most don’t know this guy. Maybe if Bill Gates gave 1/2(500 m) of his however many billion, we would finally see another JFK. I’m dreaming……not about JFK but Bill Gates

Let Them Eat Cake | 3/16/2007, 1:11 am EST

Reagan was No Prize…Too Old, Too easily led by special interest groups-Deregulation, taking rights away from working people…

Obama, Gore, Edwards are far better choices than anything(And I do mean *Things* on the Republican side)…

Those pix of Rudy were not flattering(The firefighters aren’t too fond of him, either) and, McCain can not Sell what he doesn’t believe…(And, he has had to slide so Far-Right, he looks Very Out of Place)…

All the Repubes have jumped on Bush’s CoatTails but, there is little left of them to Ride…The Bush Presidency has been a fraudulent disaster and everyday, it becomes more evident, as more is revealed…

Let Them Eat Cake | 3/18/2007, 1:47 am EST

Hillary had the foresight to talk about National Health Insurance and, thanks to Reagan’s Deregulation legislation, it is finally dawning on most politicians that it is “A good idea”…

She is smart, a successful senator and married to a President(elected by the majority-novel, now wasn’t it)who did a Good job and addressed the needs of the whole Nation and, the Country Prospered without a four-hundred billion plus, war of Lies…(For Profit)…

Her contributions have been great and she doesn’t need a Cheney or Rove(hiding in the shadows), telling her what to do next!

I still like Obama but, let’s not lose sight of other candidates contributions to our Country…She and Bill did a good job…

Edwards isn’t bad, either…Gore is still a good possibility and I am proud to be a Democrat-Gads, I’d hate to be a Republican-lots of ’splainin to do…

Capitalist Pig | 3/18/2007, 9:25 pm EST

Let Them Eat Cake – I hate to dissapoint you but Bill Clinton was not elected by a majority of the country. He only recieved 41% of the votes, a majority would require more than 50%. You are right he did not have Rove hiding in the shadows, he had James Carville, alot worse.

Let Them Eat Cake | 3/19/2007, 3:32 pm EST

“tom cruise”, Re.Reagan: you obviously haven’t met Mr. Deficit or Mr. Health Care Crisis created by Reagan’s Mr.Deregulation…

Pig Man,

In ‘92 pop vote- Clinton 44,909,806
to Bush’s 39,104,550
Clinton-Electoral Vote-370 to Bush’s 168….in a three way race.
Clinton was a newbie candidate but had the Goods…

Clinton Won with a majority of Votes(Electoral)…Whether it was over fifty per cent(Popular or Not)the Votes were Real and not Cooked by Jeb or Felonious Republican Officials…

Clinton Creamed Dole in ‘96(In a three-way race with Perot & Bush)when he was a proven candidate.

Clinton-pop vote-47,400,125 to Dole 39,198,755-electoral vote, Clinton-379 to Dole’s 159…

He Won and he did not have Jeb and Baker to Cook the Books and Cheat him in-He had Intellect and Charisma-And he was a Good Choice..

Clinton Won by *More* Votes….He had the greatest number of votes…

Most of the Republicans I know or meet are very Embarrassed and Reticent about ever having “Voted” for Bush…

When I said Majority-I meant Clinton had the greatest number of votes…(Here we go with Bush-apologists trying to find any hole, even if it is Not Relevant).Too bad you have nothing else-you guys can’t get paid enough to try and find a crumb to make your Criminal “President” look like anything but the Flop he is….(Man, he must be keepin ‘ya Busy-Cheated in, Most Corrupt “President” and “administration” in the past seventy years(Nixon even looks decent compared to Mr. Bush-the Integrity Challenged Chump.)

Clinton Won, Dude…..And he Won because he had the Actual Votes….

And Democrats, Independents and, Republicans only wish Clinton would have remained President for the past two terms…

But keep on with the Phony Hype-Sell That $War$, Sell this “President” of Deceit and Disaster-it only makes you look like the Gop political hacks and fools you are(Fascism Must Be Fun For You and Profitable$$$$$$$$$…

C Co... aka I Smell Propaganda | 3/19/2007, 4:20 pm EST

Don’t respond to him. It gives him validation that his opinion is located in reality and is worth being heard.

Dr. Ralph | 3/21/2007, 9:09 am EST

How sad that No Bread No Brains aka Cake lives in the past and, seems to invoke Clinton no matter what the current conversation is about.

Dr. Ralph | 3/21/2007, 6:15 pm EST

I put that stupid comma in the wrong place just to mimic nobread’s earlier post. What a moron.

Let Them Eat Cake | 3/22/2007, 3:14 am EST

“Yea, just can’t stop invoking Clinton’s name ’cause every time Bush is Under Investigation for High Crimes(a Weekly Occurrence, the Repubes just can’t Quit and give Clinton a Rest-he is not responsible for Goonsbury Bush and his Ineptness and Disasters(And I know where i’d like to put a comma! Fix your Content and “Fact-finding” before you worry ’bout punctuation-Substance and Content need to be your Projects….

You have a long way to go…

Dr. Ralph | 3/22/2007, 8:44 am EST

I don’t know. If the objective was to get your panties in a wad (and it was), I’d say I’m already where I’m going. By the way, you’re the one that’s all emotion and no facts. What the hell were you trying to say anyhow? Something about Clinton with parenthesis and then a run on sentence that wandered off into yet another subject without ever completing either thought. Take two aspirin and call me in the morning.
