Deconstructing Karl Rove’s New Math

Newsweek: The Architect’s Faulty Specs

Rove’s miscalculations began well before election night. The polls and pundits pointed to a Democratic sweep, but Rove dismissed them all. In public, he predicted outright victory, flashing the V sign to reporters flying on Air Force One. He wasn’t just trying to psych out the media and the opposition. He believed his “metrics” were far superior to plain old polls. Two weeks before the elections, Rove showed NEWSWEEK his magic numbers: a series of graphs and bar charts that tallied early voting and voter outreach.

Both were running far higher than in 2004. In fact, Rove thought the polls were obsolete because they relied on home telephones in an age of do-not-call lists and cell phones. Based on his models, he forecast a loss of 12 to 14 seats in the House—enough to hang on to the majority. Rove placed so much faith in his figures that, after the elections, he planned to convene a panel of Republican political scientists—to study just how wrong the polls were.

Rove was more than likley whislteing past the ole grave yard. Perhaps he was trying to will it so, or he was hoping for the electronic voting to be able to be manipulated to cover any shortfall.
Unfortunately, he did not conceive that the results were so decidely for Democrats outing the incumbents.
Finally, his tricks of whispering campaigns, fear and smear have gotten old to the electorate, who have gotten hip to him.
I’m so sad………NOT!

I’m really not sure why Rove has been given “genius” status. He’s not a genius- he’s a clever little rat who has no morals, or decency.
Bush was LUCKY- he lost the 2000 election and was given the Presidency by the Supreme Court- There’s no way Rove could have predicted, nor set that up. After 9/11, Bush enjoyed the highest approval ratings in history, only to have them drop to near record lows. Yep- that’s political genius for you. In 2004 Bush won the Presidency by the slimmest margin in history- That was after he had spent more money than any other candidate in history. Another brilliant master planned win!
And in 2006- predicting that the Republicans would keep the House and Senate- even when poll after poll after poll clearly showed that the Dems would sweep. Genius? Haha- no. Rove is nothing more than an ass-kissing lackey. Without Bush he’s nobody.

Croaker,
You still believe that “Stole The 2000 Election” Crap. Let it go.

Rove, Newt and all the pundits were keeping the voters motivated so they wouldn’t throw in the towel and not vote. Nothing wrong with staying motivated.
