Have You No Shame Sir: Boehner Strikes Again

9/27/06, 6:16 pm EST

”Will my Democrat friends work with Republicans to give the president the tools he needs to continue to stop terrorist attacks before they happen, or will they vote to force him to fight the terrorists with one arm tied behind his back?” — House Majority Leader John Boehner before today’s House passage of the Tyranny Is Good For You Act of 2006

Will my Democrat friends work with Republicans to give the president the tools he needs to continue to sodomize the constitution by torturing people and detaining them indefinately with no legal options, creating unimaginable dangers for our troops currently serving overseas. Also, writing in a neat little thing so that he can’t be charged with a crime for all the stuff he’s doing… not that it’s a crime or anything… We want these (alleged) terrorsits to talk to us with one arm tied behind their back (and their head under water).

Jack D | 9/27/2006, 7:12 pm EST

EXACTLY!

C Co... aka I Smell Propaganda | 9/27/2006, 7:30 pm EST

More like both his arms behind his back, legs chained together, blindfolded, while he gets kicked in the nuts… and blame him for the internal bleeding thereafter. By the way, I don’t especially aprove of torture methods, but the libs will support anything that gets Bush out of office. Including focusing intently on terrorists so-called rights instead of letting the military try and do their job.

Don | 9/27/2006, 8:21 pm EST

C Co,
The problem with your argument is that the people receiving the torture aren’t neccesarily terrorists. They haven’t been found guilty of anything- and may never be. The problem with the right it that they don’t see how allowing our government to torture (usually) non-white people with non-Christian beliefs effects them.

Jed Clampett | 9/27/2006, 8:43 pm EST

today it’s the terrorists, tomorrow home grown subversives. All that changes is the lable, the tactics will be the same regardless of who the recipient is. Scary thing, these guys will come home and become law ‘enforcement’ officers, preprogrammed to kill without questioning or reasoning.

jeffery mcnary | 9/27/2006, 8:52 pm EST

to quote putney swope, “there’s a crisis in the super structure.”lol

Joe | 9/27/2006, 10:03 pm EST

Hard on Bush,
Soft on Terrorists..
Democrats in 2006~!

On Knob | 9/27/2006, 11:08 pm EST

Are the “values voters” now voting for torture? I guess if Christians can say one thing about themselves, it’s that they’re the best group at violently torturing nonbelievers.
a la the Spanish Inquisition.

Marine | 9/27/2006, 11:09 pm EST

Do you think Boehner takes it up the ass? Heh heh.

Evangelical | 9/27/2006, 11:10 pm EST

I hate all the things these disgusting republicans are doing in the name of Christ

TinFoilHat | 9/27/2006, 11:37 pm EST

Yup, those weenie Democrats sure did get it up the ass on this one. The Republicans staged a ‘fight’ while the timid Dems sat by and watched. When Bush gets his deal from these “in-subordinates” Bush comes out looking earnest and anti-terrorist, McCain and Co. look like men of “conscience”. Then if the Dems protest the bogus deal, they can be painted with the “terrorist sympathiser” brush. Its all politics as usual. They know that few (if any) of us lazy-assed couch potatoes will actually bother to sort through the wording of the compromise (which is intentionally obfuscating), and even if we do they can just call us “terrorist-lovers”. Has it ever occurred to anyone that terrorism is a tactic that has been used repeatedly throughout the history of American foreign policy? In fact, the US and Israel are among the worlds most frequent purveyors of state-sponsored terrorism. If you are too lazy to research that, let me know and I’ll supply the links. Meanwhile we can all sit by watching CNN as our government runs the US Constitution through the CIA paper-shredder and the world ridicules us for the hopeless hypocrites that we truly are.

TinFoilHat | 9/28/2006, 12:01 am EST

Ancon, If only I could believe that. But, this bill is THE priority for the Bush cadre. Because of the recent supreme court rulings stating that the detainees must be given due process, and Geneva Convention rights, Bush is faced with the prospect of loosing these cases due to evidence extracted under torture. If there is ANY WAY they can get this through before recess, they will. And the Dems have already stated that they will not filibuster for fear of being seen as ’soft on terror’. It looks like this will be exception to the “can’t pass anything before recess” rule.

Jed Clampett | 9/28/2006, 7:21 am EST

I wish the ‘tin foil hat’ was some defense to some ot the out of this world thinking going on in our congress these days.

Thankyou TinMan for your clarity and candor. They may lable us that can see what is going on for what it is, a full on assault on the constitution and moral rectitude of our nation.
They may call us liberal, terrorist loving left wingers for thinking that all humans have some inalienable rights, but some of us realize that these are the same tactics used on people in Salem Mass. when they would be dunked in the well to determine if they were ‘witches’.

Evan, many of us who have understanding are also sickened by the way these people tout religion and some higher calling to justify their inhumanity to their fellow man. Seems they have missed the message of the people sent by the creator to show us the right way to live.
Wan’t to do something to change this? do whatever possible to inspire people to vote. Encourage them to register to vote. Make public and advertise when early voting takes place. Show them how to vote absentee when possible.

I don’t suscribe to either party, my views are too varied to marry one particular ideology, but I can tell when I’m being lied to repeatedly, that’s exactly what we are getting from the GOP.

Jack D | 9/28/2006, 12:53 pm EST

George W. Bush is my hero.

Jed Clampett | 9/28/2006, 1:40 pm EST

John Hall | 9/28/2006, 8:36 pm EST

The Republican Party:

“Morality, Integrity, Rule Of Law, Truth, Justice….wait a minute…those were part of the American way of life too??? Wow, who knew!”

Question | 9/28/2006, 10:26 pm EST

The Republican Party:
Corrupt, torturing, lying, war-mongering, war-losing, fear peddling, hijacked by “religious” fascists, propaganda spewing failures.

…wait a minute, and the “American way of life” is to love these people? Who knew?

—————–

So Jack, I finally got through to you?

TinFoilHat | 9/29/2006, 11:13 pm EST

The “George Bush is my Hero” posts should all be removed by the Admin. Someone is doing some creative ‘pretexting’ here.

Jack D | 10/5/2006, 4:44 pm EST

No such luck, Cap. I still would rather see GW burried up to his neck so I could play lawnmower-soccer. It must be some wanna-be.
