All the News That Fits . . . One Victory for New Orleans, Osama Still Kicking and More

9/26/06, 11:12 am EST

  • Three top officers, recently retired, regale the Senate with accounts of the incompetence of Donald Rumsfeld. Maj. Gen. John Batiste: “I believe that Secretary Rumsfeld and others in the administration did not tell the American people the truth for fear of losing support for the war in Iraq.”
  • Taliban officials debunk the rumors, report Osama Bin Laden not sick, not dead. But if you play the record backwards …
  • Pentagon to keep nearly 4,000 Al Anbar-based soldiers in harm’s way for an extra 46 days.
  • New Orleans Saint’s blow-out in a reopened Superdome unleashes “Mardi Gras in September.”

Politicians not telling the truth? This can’t be!

Jed Clampett | 9/26/2006, 3:07 pm EST

glad to see the military’s top brass, getting their brass out and talking candidly about what they experienced. wonder if they would be willing to carry out a coup. Seems the country has already been coopted by the mega-corps, reminds me of the trade federation on the star wars saga. I wonder if they realize they are merely being used by the sith lords. :D

in other words, karl rove and the neonazis. G Gordon Liddy- watergate player and admirer of hitler. Pat Buchanan- Nixon adviser and anti foreigner, also admires Hitler’s ‘efficiencies’. These are just some of the people advising the people in power.

I don’t care who our next president is as long as its not a dumb broad. Its better to be feared than loved and nobodys afraid of a skirt.

Good for New Orleans. Nice to see that you mentioned that Tim. Now if the people cared as much about the Saints as about choosing good leadership, the rest of the city might be up and running again.

Richard Lee | 9/26/2006, 9:34 pm EST

Ed, Regarding your refusal to look at the consistent and very obvious evidence of Cheney/PNAC complicity in 9/11, your hostility to those seeking the truth here, which goes to the heart of darkness of these unelected fascists who have now murdered over 200,000 Iraqi civilians by the best assessment, can only be explained by an irrational, peer group conforming quirk in your liberal Establishment personality. That might be sadly dismissed if it weren’t such a betrayal of all that our country stands for, and that you allege to stand for. It reminds one of the irrational treason you also represented for so many years in the Kennedy assassinations, but for PC reasons took a pass on with MLK. At least the neo-cons have their stupidity and media brainwashing as an excuse. You only have MSM brainwashing as your excuse. (Revealing PNAC plans, prior knowledge, Pakistani Intel Chief complicity, Cheney controled 9/11 war games, Bldg. 7 fire and admitted demolition, molten steel at site and film evidence of thermite fueled fire before South Bldg. collapse, etc. etc.)

Why is it easy for Americans to accept conspiracy theories? Oh I don’t know. Could it have been the incredible single bullet? Perhaps it was saving all those children from a child molester by killing each and every one of them after subjecting them to the screams of dying rabbits for days? Could it have been that amazingly poor shot representing the FBI at Ruby Ridge? Could it have been the Donald Scott case in California? Perhaps it was the babies thrown from the incubators in Kuwait. Would anyone in our government lie to us? Oh what could I be thinking? Let’s talk about another one. Back in the days before President Reagan pulled the teeth of public television, there was real information there if one paid close attention. When poor old Carter was encouraged to attempt to rescue the hostages, the best our country had to offer to the mission seemed to just fall from the skies. We lost eight men in that strange operation, and left me who had worked near a helicopter training outfit that had never lost a helicopter while I worked there, with flying being done by students. In addition, we were pretty high in the air. In fact we started flying at the top of the envelope. Still no problem. Over a period of about six months, listening to three different groups speaking on public television, one individual uttered a last fact, and I realized that the eight men we lost had been lost for political reasons. The Republicans were not totally convinced that Carter could not be again elected. Just why I do not know, since they trashed the man from the moment he entered the oval office, but they decided a coup d’etat was required. It seems that a retired generals’group was in some way hitched to that wagon. How interesting? I recall falling back against the chair with my stomach churning. I nearly threw up. I was very innocent at the time. I could not believe that my country would ever sacrifice citizens for political purposes. I know now that they would not hesitate to sacrifice their own mothers.

Prudence,
Thank you for that story. I was in High-School when that news story was on TV. I remember sitting in the coffee shop across the street (ditching third period) and saying “..there’s something very fishy about that..”. It’s nice to finally get an account that I can believe.

Parody of itself. You have sunk to a new low. Hunter Thomson must be rolling in his grave.

The author makes an interesting point about why wouldn’t Iraq be blamed 9/11 rather than Al QUeda, since Iraq was to be invaded. This is confusing, but the reason is because if they had staged the 911 psy-op and then blamed Iraq, Hussein would have denied responsibility and demanded to see evidence, whereas Al Queda was created by the CIA explicitly for this role of boogie man whose usefulness outlasts Iraq, but also creates pretexts for Iran, Syria, and any other country to be invaded.

Jed Clampett | 9/29/2006, 1:49 pm EST

carter was thrashed from the very start, he inherited alot of that crap to begin with. The wealthy control the economy as they always have. they can reduce workforce (as now being done to send jobs abroad), they can reduce investment, they can suck the wealth out of the treasury (as it’s now being done via earmarks) etc. etc. Republicans hated carter because he has heart and true religious beliefs without blabing about it all over the media to try and convince people. his actions speak for themselves.
Unfortunately he was hated for telling the country straight up what was wrong and they turned against him.

Jed Clampett | 9/29/2006, 5:25 pm EST

hey fascistPig, I like the way you take part of an answer to one question and make it part of another. is that dissasembling?

pair of kings.. bush and blair.
full house… a country of 29million arabs surrounded by hostile supporters
family fortune… the US treasury, if spending 2.4 billion a week ain’t betting the country’s fortune then you have way too much money.
Why do you think his father didn’t go in even though he had several hundred thousand troops in the vicinity? Did he listen to his intelligence community that told him a civil war would ensue that they wouldn’t be able to control? you might say soudi arabia wouln’t have supported it. I can assure you they would have, loved to have access to those oilfields as well. The UN? The US has seldom payed any attention to the UN when they dont share the same ‘interests’.

Welcome to the wonderful world of American foreign policy. Now were getting to the nut of the problem. You ever wonder why the entire middle east hates us? Uzbekistan anyone?

Hey Jed, don’t bent out of shape, it is just a lively debate. I am not attacking you personally. Ask Jack D, when have been down this road already.

Jed Clampett | 9/30/2006, 6:06 pm EST

not taking it personal, just calling you out on your dissembling. Tipical admin shate. they insert stories in the media, pundits on the blogs. etc. I noticed that even though you took part of the first line of my response to your second point, you gingerly steped aside of the question posed.
You don’t interview for Fox news on the side, do you? Kinda like pissing off an ex president by basically accusing him of being the cause of the attacks on sept 11th and then making a big deal of how he reacted rather than the points he made. that sir is DISSEMBLING. Dictionary.com look it up. Not to be confused with Dissasembling as the great speaker GWB called it. DAMN!! a C student frat guy for president that thinks Africa is a country. Can’t wait to see these guys convicted. But they will probably give each other medals.
