The Greenest Governator

8/31/06, 6:22 pm EST

I know there’s a lot of Ahnold hatas out there. But I tip my hat again today to a Republican politician who is living up to the legacy of Teddy Roosevelt.

Thanks to honest negotiation among industry and environmental groups California now has its own Kyoto accord. The state has committed to reducing its CO2 emissions to 1990 levels by 2025. As the 12th largest producer of greenhouse gases, California has taken an action whose impact rivals that of any European country joining Kyoto.

The program is market based, with the legislature set to implement a carbon emisions trading system and even has a safetey valve, that lets the governor make a temporary rollback in the event of an earthquake, geological or financial. Not only is this Global Warming pact right thing to do, but I predict it’s going to goose California’s tech sector as the demand for clean energy solutions rises.

I don’t know why it took a Republican governor to get this done (how about it Bill Richardson? Tim Kaine? Janet Napolitano?) but I’m proud my state is the first to pull its head out of the sand and meet this crisis head on.

What do you think, Californians? Did the Governator earn your vote today?

We should all tip our hats to California and the Governator on this one, but to be clear, New Mexico is making efforts to combat climate change. These include becoming the first state to put their money where their mouth is by joining the Chicago Climate Enchange (you have to buy credits if you don’t reduce emissions) and setting statewide greenhouse gas reduction goals.

California deserves credit, but don’t lump NM and Governor Richardson in with those who aren’t doing enough on climate change.

Arnold has put lots of money and talk into his ads but, as a native Californian, his record here lacks alot.

Allowing the Repubes to set up and contribute to his “election” makes him a bought “governor”.

He is talking the talk of green but, like Bush(his mentor)he has palled around with Ken Lay(late Mr. Lay or Mr. Lay in hiding), Pete Wilson(former Rep. governor of Ca.) who signed deregulation of energy into California legislation and, Texas energy companies scammed us out of 10
billion $$$$$…..Price gouging.

Arnold has gone after firemens, police, nurses, teachers unions and tried to cut their wages and benefits here.

The guy is a clown who follows Bush/Republican tax cuts for the wealthy, and he wants to redistrict our state to look like Texas(filled with corrupt Republicans like DeLay)….

Arnold needs to exit stage right(He is unqualified and too politically ignorant to be a governor-he will follow Bush’s agenda and that makes for future disaster for our state……

Going Green does not erase or change his plan that he and Bush talked about, to kill our unions….

He does photo-ops after fires with firemen(They did not want him in their photos) and is like Bush in talking the talk but no action when it is needed-tax cuts nix his “plans” and he wants those tax cuts-he is a Republican in a speedo……Ugh!

Arnold, Mr. “GreenJeans” just vetoed legislation that would prohibit large stores like WalMart to lock employees in at night because it is dangerous if fires, natural disasters, etc happen and they are (In effect) prisoners and greatly delays rescue efforts.

WalMart and its wonderful “business practices” hires illegals/poor- and wants to insure no theft but at the risk of the people who might die waiting for rescue, should an emergency occur(Earthquakes are not unusual happenings here)fires, etc….

Another jab at the California working public…..Mr. Arnold….

Go eat your “GreenJeans”….

Re. Arnold and his pal, WalMart.
Since Arnold vetoed legislation to protect workers from being locked in at night in WalMart stores, guess who got a nice glut of money contibutions to his political “Governor” campaign……

And, “GreenJeans” has lots of oil comany contributions so don’t get too dewy-eyed over his “Going Green” label-more pre-election rhetoric and who has done more to pollute our oceans and land and air-oil companies…..Show me the Green…

Thanks to a Democratic Legislature,
They achieved the hike in the Minimum Wage here-they have been trying to get Arnold to do it for some time…..

Arnold, like his pal, Bush, is going after the unions and the good wages our state has enjoyed.

Arnold needs to govern Disneyland-not California. They are a perfect pair-all Fantasy and Fiction and available for those who have Fortunes…
