Working Harder, for Less

8/30/06, 4:26 pm EST

The “good news” today is that median family incomes are outpacing inflation for the first time in several years. The not so “good” part about it is that the income rise comes from American’s taking on 2nd and 3rd jobs just to pay the bills.

From the New York Times:

The rise had little to do with bigger paychecks — in fact, both men and women earned less in 2005 than 2004. Rather, census officials said, more family members were taking jobs to make ends meet, and some people made more money from investments and other sources beyond wages.

Last year (2005) was a horrible year for 80% of Americans’ economy… just as in the 3 years before it and this year we (the 80% at the lower end of the economic scale) have lost money, been lied to and see nothing better in the near future.

Oh, people have to WORK. Oh, how awful.

Jack D | 8/31/2006, 4:02 pm EST

Lobster,
Every single comment I have read from you tells me that you are a complete ASS. You have not one ounce of respect, humility, empathy, or compassion. You are a waste of human tissue. Nothing you have ever said on here is helpfull or of value to anyone. You’re the kind of person that laughs at an old ladie when she falls, instead of helping her up. You deserve any such shit storm that comes your way.

JackD,
Every comment I read of yours is an angry piece of misguided rhetoric. AND you try and pick fights with everyone. Everything you say is venting anger at something or someone (most commonly: Bush and religion). Your first reaction to someone who disagrees with you is malevolent hatred when it should be understanding or resonable debate. You sir, are the ass.

As for the article: this is a good sign. People are doing whatever it takes to makes ends meet, working hard to move on up. So, when they do move up, their work ethic will make them even more successful. You have to work to get paid, and people are stepping up to the challenge. This mentality will allow more people to be even more successful when their luck does change for the better. If more kids in the ghettos and trailer parks of this country had this mentality, there would be be significantly less ghettos and trailer parks.

“Ownership Society”

Corporations own the workers.
Enough said.

Jack D | 9/1/2006, 2:52 pm EST

C Co,
I may be misguided in your opinion, and I will accept that. However, simply because I curse, don’t think Im trying to pick a fight. And, I’m not angry dude. I’m a part of the canibis culture, I don’t care enough about the shit on this blog to get angry.
It’s not Lobsters opinions that I am less than respectful towards. It’s his disrespect and disregard for other humans and their misfortunes.
He said, in another post, “Look, when you find out that a hurricane is coming you pack up and get the fuck out. If you’re so lame that you cannot do this without the government’s help you are an inferior piece of shit and deserve whatever happens to your lame ass”.
Now THAT’S class!?
He might as well have said “If you’re poor you’re not human and you deserve to die”.

Capitalist Pig | 9/5/2006, 6:24 pm EST

Where does the New York Leftist Times get it’s facts? Per Capita disposable income has risen 9.2% since 2001, wage and salary income increased 3.3% in the second quarter, and increased 11% the last quarter of last year. So much for reporting the facts. The NY Leftist Propoganda Rag would be a more appropriate name for that useless newspaper.
