Way to go, man. We can only hope (pray?) that Gore runs. He’s been fire on the mic, in regards to the war, the war on terror, global warming (obviously) and other issues. He manages to summon the righteous indignation towards the Bush admin. that Hillary tries (Good Samaritan speech…plantation speech) but can’t get off without sounding desperate and strained.

If Gore doesn’t run…maybe we can keep Richards in…

CAlefty | 1/25/2007, 7:16 pm EST

from your mouth…I worked in Al Gore’s first pres. campaign long before 2000 & have always been a fan. It would be great to vote FOR the candidate vs. against the Republican!

Frank | 1/25/2007, 10:38 pm EST

I would consider Gore a highly positive force (although it concerns me that he could not carry Tennessee in 2000)

Also, one of the G.O.P.’s worst nightmares is a guy named Bill Richardson.

A Governor who can say he is from the South and the West and whose state borders Texas. Governors have a better chance of getting electoral votes from the state the represent as well as surrounding states.

Do you think the other candidates have as good a chance as Richardson of carrying Texas? If you think so, guess again.

By contrast, New York will go Democratic regardless of the nominee.

Keep you eye on Bill Richardson.

Corlyss | 1/25/2007, 11:12 pm EST

Speaking as a conservative Republican, I pray to have one of two, if not both, candidates on the 2008 Dem ticket: John Kerry or Al Gore. Alas, Kerry has determined (for now) not to run. But he’s so indecisive that he may change his mind before it’s all over. A McCain or Giuliani or Gingrich would rip the Inconvenient Al apart and leave nothing but a smoke smudge.

Bridget | 1/25/2007, 11:45 pm EST

Why should Al Gore run? He is the only US President not to get to serve his term because of liars, corrupt campaign workers in Florida, and Bush’s daddy’s friends on the Supreme Court. Now that the country has woken up, Gore should get to serve his term without running.

John D | 1/26/2007, 2:48 am EST

Gore, Gore, Gore, Gore, Gore – Need I say more?

Sean | 1/26/2007, 3:49 am EST

Al, I’m voting for you whether you run or not.

PKD | 1/26/2007, 9:09 am EST

There are now several choices for the 2008 candidate who could do good things for democracy in America, but the ONLY one who can do GREAT things here and beyond the shores of the USA is Al Gore.

Mike R | 1/26/2007, 10:44 am EST

Al Gore would be dissappointing the cointry if he didn’t run. After all we elected him in 2000. I still believe in 2000 Americans should have taken to the streets in protest and refused to accept the supreme courts corrupt anti-democratic decision. Al Gore is poised to be a GREAT president now. Knowing what he knows, having been the victim of the evil and ruthlessness of the Bush Chaney team (Stop counting the votes!). Only he will fix our voting system, health care, education for the poor, New Orleans, energy research. I hope he runs and I believe he can wait until the summer to announce his candidacy.

Calicocat53 | 1/26/2007, 11:30 am EST

Gore is the one. When I saw Mr. Gore being his passionate self in his movie “The Inconvenient Truth”, I saw a great leader. I was past believing the media market mush anymore, but I was still surprised at his strong presence. What a crime to have lost him to one supreme court vote. If he had access to the press, the public, he would be formidable. Perhaps the misinformed masses would see their 2nd chance for redemption and get it right this time. Get Obama or Edwards with him and we would be on our way to addressing the dire future of Mother Earth, gathering up the needy situations of Iraq and Katrina as we go.Bar corporations from lobbying, period, and we might aspire to be a decent middle-class- friendly nation once again. Tax the wealthy who were fortunate enough to BECOME wealthy under United States rule in the first place. But nothing will matter unless we address global warming…

Jaywar | 1/26/2007, 11:34 am EST

I’m deeply anxious he will decide not to wade into the stench that is the politics of today. He is our only hope to wade out of the madness.. Is a draft possible?

What do you think of a possible VP choice?
Obama ? Edwards ?

I hate to think of the alternatives.

Marc | 1/26/2007, 11:34 am EST

What year is this? There is no way Al Gore should run. Could there be more of a lame duck candidate. God knows we need change and maybe he should have been President, but he is not the answer. If he runs, he would remind me of a punch-drunk boxer that doesn’t know when to quit. While I’m at it, Hillary Clinton should quit. I’m so tired of people thinking they have a right to be President because of family ties when they are not really qualified to be President. If she gets elected, we should just start a monarchy. I think I’m voting for Obama. It’s time for some new blood.

Greg | 1/26/2007, 11:37 am EST

Please run, Mr. Gore. America needs you, big time. You would get all those who voted for you in 2000 and millions more votes from people who now respect your intelligence, wisdom, and experience. We need Tipper too, as a champion for decency and morality in the entertainment industry. I voted for you last time and I would love to vote for you this time .

JCW Daddy | 1/26/2007, 11:38 am EST

Mr. Dickinson seems to think Al Gore’s “biggest problem” is political. It’s not! It’s economic, and has to do with his role on the Apple board. Until the backdating issue goes away, Al Gore ‘aint runnin’ for anything.

gavin | 1/26/2007, 11:44 am EST

This crap, from Rolling Stone ? O tempora, o mores !

Jnelson788 | 1/26/2007, 11:44 am EST

I think that Gore would definetly make things interesting for the DNC. He’s riding a tidal wave fo supprt for “An Inconvenient Truth”, and he does have a firm track record against Iraq, plus he probably has more internatinal relations experience than Hillary or Obama combined. With that says, I think the quote, “Prophets are shot in this town” says a lot. Constantly being right can be perceived as arrogant, and arrogance, as witnessed with the current administration, does not win you any approval. I believe that if Gore does decide to run, he would be the biggest hurdle for Hillary on her quest for the coveted seat in the oval office.

Frank | 1/26/2007, 11:48 am EST

As far as Hillary goes, there is no way she is winning. I have only one reason: she is a woman. If you think this country is progressive enough to elect a woman you are fooling yourself.

NanW | 1/26/2007, 11:51 am EST

We desperately need his proven intelligence, vision and integrity. He will win if he runs.

Hillary Clinton | 1/26/2007, 11:52 am EST

I will win because I have balls. Look!

Aviva | 1/26/2007, 11:58 am EST

We’re ready for a 21st century president who has a global vision . . . not global division, but one of global unity. Gore has the integrity and the seasoning to help us and the world build a bridge to a liveable future measured, not in 4 year increments, but by generations. He’s as close to a philosopher president as we can hope for at this time.

Marc | 1/26/2007, 12:00 pm EST

Where would we be without Al Gore? Would the sun rise another day? Just look at how he has changed the world for the better.

Al Gore | 1/26/2007, 12:02 pm EST

I will protect us all from Man Bear Pig if I’m elected President

BobinCA | 1/26/2007, 12:09 pm EST

It’s a no brainer. Re-elect AL GORE!

Rawrp | 1/26/2007, 12:16 pm EST

Here’s an interesting, and funny, article about Gore’s run/no run sitch…writer posits that if Gore eschews the Academy Awards and heads to the spa to lose weight, then he’ll run. However, if “Big Al” shows up for the Oscars, he won’t be running…

We can only hope Gore gets Kanye’s workout plan.

bigendian | 1/26/2007, 12:25 pm EST

Hell, even if he doesn’t run I am “writing” him in! It’s easy with the touch-screen voting machine and probably harder to hide the vote.

floryhawk | 1/26/2007, 12:33 pm EST

This was a wonderful article.
The only thing I question is the comment about Gore’s demeanor:

“Gore’s biggest challenge, however, may come from within. ‘He’s kind of a klutzy politician,….’ ”

I don’t think he is or was as ‘klutzy’ as he was made out to be. The media did a number on him, just like they did with Howard Dean after the howling incident. Gore’s smart, good looking, kind of funny in a sweet way, truly concerned about the nation/world’s well-being, has experience, and is clean as a whistle. What more could anyone ask?

Stiff? Not really and if he is Big deal! Maybe we could use some ’stiff’ this time around.

And As far as Hilary is concerned, she will NOT do well in the Red States. Remember how awful the Republicans were about her when she was First Lady? All that ugliness is still there… waiting for the right time to show itself.

Frank Luntz | 1/26/2007, 12:36 pm EST

Why is Rolling Stone talking to me? I’m a slimy GOP operative, whose every talking point is focused on maximizing the potential for my party to dominate in 08. It’s best to really just do the opposite of any ‘advice’ I give to my opponents, since obviously I’m too stupid to talk in code.

I’m just saying this stuff to screw with liberal activist’s minds, who rightfully dislike Hilary for her waffling mushy-centrism. However, besides global warming and more common sense, Gore would be extremely similar to her in his economic policies. In Esquire awhile back he said he liked what Bernanke was doing at the Fed, and he’d probably reappoint Robert Rubin. Meanwhile economic populism, which won Jim Webb his seat and Edwards his huge popularity with the progressive base, would take a backseat, and with it, a lot of good that could be done with a big Dem win.

And honestly, though Al Gore is great, he’s far more effective as an elder statesman than as a candidate. He can keep global warming an issue just by media appearances, forcing candidates to take strong stances.

heartbroken | 1/26/2007, 12:55 pm EST

I know who I’m voting for — Gore — no matter if he runs or not. I can imagine where we’d be now if it were not for the despicable action of the nefarious nine. We need Gore, NOW.

Mike | 1/26/2007, 1:00 pm EST

Gore should run

Neil | 1/26/2007, 1:01 pm EST

Now is the time! run Al run

Sidro Steel | 1/26/2007, 1:02 pm EST

Gore all the way in 08. He is a nerdy guy.. but certainly smarter than the shrub that stole the election. That is a man that can look at the American people directly in the eye and not hide behind his speeches.

GORE IS MY HOMEBOY!!!

Ann Clark | 1/26/2007, 1:11 pm EST

YES!!!
PLEASE, please Al Gore Run!

He is what America needs NOW!!!

Lee | 1/26/2007, 1:23 pm EST

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Please run Mr. Gore!

I believe you are the one person who can salvage the U.S from the blunders of the Bush Administration.

The People want a President Gore!

yosemite hillbilly | 1/26/2007, 1:24 pm EST

al gore in 2008!!!!

Andrew Rusting | 1/26/2007, 1:28 pm EST

Of course he should run! That’s why I founded GO-08.org last yesr! Gore-Obama 2008! It’s a Dream Team!

jack of diamonds | 1/26/2007, 1:36 pm EST

Gore/Obama 2008!!!

You can’t touch this.

jps | 1/26/2007, 1:36 pm EST

Gore/Obama 2008! That would be an unbeatable juggernaut of a ticket!

Barry Zitler | 1/26/2007, 1:41 pm EST

America is not a monarchy. We don’t need anymore Bush or Clintons to solve our problems. Look where they have led us.

Gore or Obama in 2008.

Mack | 1/26/2007, 1:47 pm EST

As a woman and an African American. If Gore runs for office he has my vote.

Run Al Run

Dick Morris | 1/26/2007, 1:49 pm EST

Are you kidding me? I was very excited about reading this article because I’m a huge Gore supporter – but the best you could come up with as a “close Gore associate” is DICK MORRIS?!? Please! What ever Dick Morris is saying, I’m always inclined to believe the opposite. When are reporters going to learn to STOP TALKING TO THIS SELF-SERVING PRICK!?!?

spin2knit | 1/26/2007, 1:56 pm EST

Hands down. I’d vote Gore/Edwards again!

anti-everything | 1/26/2007, 2:02 pm EST

If dems are going to beat the GOP in 2008, they are going to have to make the nefarious Iraq War a major issue.

If Hillary is the dems candidate it will be 2004 all over again.

“i voted for it before i voted against it”

Gore, Obama, and kucinich seem best poised to capitalize on america’s distaste for the iraq war. kucinich is crazy, so that leaves Gore/obama in 2008

otherwise we will watch mccain eat hillary alive.

BabyBoomer | 1/26/2007, 2:03 pm EST

Al Gore is the only credible potential candidate out there. He has had both the vision and moral courage to speak the truth to America during the past six years. I honestly feel that what Al Gore brings to the table is precisely what this country needs. Above all others, he would unite us and lead us in the right direction. I hope our citizens have learned a permanent lesson in citizenship while watching the nightmare of poor voting choices unfold before our very eyes. Al Gore is the man of the hour!!! I’d volunteer all my available time to help make his presidency a reality.

Brad | 1/26/2007, 2:04 pm EST

5 words: Adlai Stevenson, Williams Jennings Bryan. Democrats who don’t win the first time don’t win the next (or the time after that).

Evelyn | 1/26/2007, 2:04 pm EST

I went thru an extensive analysis of all the possible candidates and I agree the dream team is
Gore-Obama This is the people’s choice to take back the White House!

The Grubby 1 | 1/26/2007, 2:05 pm EST

Al Gore would win and it would be glorious. The entire world would celebrate. Can you imagine? What a story! The man who was robbed of the presidency eight years ago by a lying, facist, earth-hating idiot. Now “the man who should have been president” returns to fix all the damage that’s been done. Amazing.

Let Them Eat Cake | 1/26/2007, 2:05 pm EST

A Californian who knows our Party(Dems)needs new Blood.

Love Gore, Bill Clinton-they can be appointed to offices by a new Democratic President and contribute greatly to our Country.

Obama, Edwards…

Don’t like Terry Mcauflie(may be misspelled) does not stand up for nor represent the Democratic base.

Wealthy, big on perpetual tax cuts for the wealthy, did not do much to help preserve and protect the unions and, disappointed that Hillary would be using him as an advisor.(And having Rupert Murdoch as a contributor)does not give me much faith in Hillary’s judgment(The Owner of everything distorted and bias(FOX)is probably “helping her” because he wants the Republican nominee to “Win”…

Hillary is smart, a good politician but, Judgment Calls are extremely important-and Murdoch involved in anything is Lame).

Gore, Clinton, Biden, Schumer would be good in advisory roles but, believe our country wants New Faces, New Ideas…

And the fact Hillary signed on for the Bush War in Iraq(Even though the slimy Cheney/Rumsfeld/Rove/Bush peddled What they knew was misinformation/lies to Goad the Country into their illegitimate “War”…

Mark Kuykendall | 1/26/2007, 2:08 pm EST

Run Gore, run!

Doug E Fresh | 1/26/2007, 2:12 pm EST

Al Gore is a fucking loser. Lunatic fringe.

Boca Babs | 1/26/2007, 2:14 pm EST

Of all the Democratic contenders, I would vote for Al Gore above all of them. I do not like Hillary. I feel the only reason she leads the polls right now is the people are thinking they are getting her husband. Al Gore, if you are reading these, I will volunteer my time for your campaign. This is your year….

helderheid | 1/26/2007, 2:18 pm EST

Please run, Al! RUN! Not only does the nation need you, so does the entire planet. We need you.

Jerry Earnest | 1/26/2007, 2:22 pm EST

Dear Hillary,

this election is not about you.

alliep | 1/26/2007, 2:22 pm EST

I would vote for him in a second over any of the other candidates. And it’s not that don’t like the others. I love Al Gore and I think he can win it, especially if he gets Obama, Hillary Clinton or John Edwards for a running mate.

DeezNutz | 1/26/2007, 2:29 pm EST

I would definately vote for Gore.

Kira | 1/26/2007, 2:31 pm EST

Please run Mr. Gore. You are the one we need to fix this huge mess we are in. Please speak out soon about the war.

Rowena | 1/26/2007, 2:31 pm EST

Go, Gore, Go!! I’d talk about a few of his countless attributes, including his foresight, experience and intellectual abilities that put him far above any other candidate, but I won’t bother – everyone on this forum obviously knows this. GORE 2008!!!

Mark Kuykendall | 1/26/2007, 2:33 pm EST

If Gore doesn’t run, WE’RE SCREWED.

mikie | 1/26/2007, 2:42 pm EST

I certainly was NOT impressed with Al’s campaign, nor his debate strategy to agree with his opponent on most every issue.

His concession speech was the most decent thing I’ve ever seen a US politician do. Not for what he did, but the way he did it. By all rights ,he should be in his second term right now. m

dmowen | 1/26/2007, 2:42 pm EST

That’s an interseting idea. My current pick is McCain because he’s bipartisan, down-to-earth, and would not support a quick exit from Iraq. However, I have a new respect for Al Gore after watching An Inconvenient Truth. I’d vote for a Gore/Obama or Gore/Edwards ticket if they ran on a platform of promoting a better America with a focus on energy independence and healthcare, without indulging a backwards-looking antiwar stance too much.

Wow | 1/26/2007, 2:49 pm EST

What has Gore shown us of his leadeship potential? He can oppose the war and scare us about global warming. Pointing out others mistakes is too commonly seen as leadership. I would hate to see him run with Obama some one who has proposed answers and actually has a shot at the presidency someday.

Deaniac 2.0 | 1/26/2007, 2:53 pm EST

the monarchist kerry/clinton/kennedy limousine “liberals” railroaded howard dean in 2004.

but, al gore had his back.
Deaniacs owe it to our party and to our country to get out there ad draft al gore in 2008

joe | 1/26/2007, 3:13 pm EST

Gore/Obama. Sweeping policy, combined with sweeping rhetoric.

Unbeatable!

Jeremy | 1/26/2007, 3:34 pm EST

Please God yes…Gore must run!

naomi | 1/26/2007, 3:56 pm EST

Gore-Obama !!!

How wonderful a ticket!!!
How wonderful for the country!!!

persistent | 1/26/2007, 4:03 pm EST

Al should be the first man in several decades elected President more than twice.

He knows what Hillary has yet to learn – be yourself and stop pandering to the polls.

It is very likely that I’ll vote for Gore regardless of who is running.

Mr. Nobody | 1/26/2007, 4:26 pm EST

yeah… Gore pretty much would be the best president in the world… yeah.

Mr. Nobody | 1/26/2007, 4:36 pm EST

seriously in the WORLD!
i really think he is fantastic, a god of a man.

haripara | 1/26/2007, 4:39 pm EST

Whether Gore would be the best candidate depends on how well he can articulate the big issues other than the environment, where he has already proven himself: growing ineqality; the decay of our democratic political culture; the “spiritual death” that Dr. King spoke about in 1967. If Gore can project a vision that enables us to imagine a better tomorrow for all working people under his presidency, then he could win.

Larry | 1/26/2007, 4:53 pm EST

AL GORE FOR PRESIDENT!!!

FOR THE LOVE OF G-D, PLEASE RUN, WE NEED YOUR LEADERSHIP IN THE WHITE HOUSE!!!

JM | 1/26/2007, 5:02 pm EST

Of course, don’t anyone dare to discuss what THEY doing to actually help this man regarding the plantary emergency we are facing now. Just keep harassing him to run again in a system he has claimed rightfully many times is toxic to “save you.” It is not about any of us either, it is about this planet. If you think this crisis is going to be addressed adequately this year with all of the work still left to to do on the grassroots level, you are deluded.

Al Gore is now on a mission to bring about the greatest grassroots effort to warn people of the dangers we face by our own ignorance, greed , and indifference regarding how we are changing the relationship between us and this planet, and giving us the tools necessary to solve it. Unfortunately it would appear that many Americans are still too spoiled to give a damn.

This goes way beyond any one election, and it is very saddening to read only cheerleading and harrassing of this man instead of taking his conviction seriously and supporitng him by helping witht this endeavor. But then, it is so much easier to expect others to do the work for you.

David | 1/26/2007, 5:08 pm EST

If Dickinson believes Al Gore would be a good President, then he should avoid unhelpful scripts like “Al Gore was stiff” with a “wooden, policy-wonk demeanor”. Those were RNC talking-points sucked up the media food-chain by lazy D.C. journalists, they cost Gore (and later, Kerry) the election, and put Bush at the steering wheel after which he promptly drove us into a ditch. All thanks to clueless liberals like Tim Dickinson.

Rawrp | 1/26/2007, 5:19 pm EST

JM – yr a douche.
The subject of the story was Gore’s run, not Gore’s crusade or anything else. I don’t even know where you get yr indignation (you don’t even know anybody’s name here, much less what they do when they’re not wasting time on the web) but I’d stop huffing that glue and start using it to stick yr sanity back together.

David– you and jm hand out, eh? Just you two and the wood glue? Its incredibly reductionist (and mildly retarded) to blame Gore’s loss on “clueless liberals”…not least of which because it ignores the Gore v. Bush Supreme Court decision.

But, on another point, it was the Gore/Kerry staffs that hurt them the most…running their candidates to the middle of the mild road. Both were wooden and stiff during their respective elections…Gore was a bit wonky (better than Kerry’s campaign, which couldn’t pull a solid policy out of anybody’s ass) and that didn’t do well against the Bushie pseudo-folksy charm.

Its nobody’s fault but the candidate’s if they don’t win (excluding, of course, the Supreme Court’s decision in ‘00)…its a competition and there are no points for second place.

Further, Kerry was a douche…which is why he lost. Anybody who thinks otherwise should look into how he screwed himself out of running again. A real bummer, particularly since he saved 1/2 his ‘04 campaign money for a REelection bid that, of course never came.

Norman K. Marsh | 1/26/2007, 5:31 pm EST

Gore has to run. Not now;he can afford to wait a few months. But he HAS TO run.

Dadou | 1/26/2007, 5:32 pm EST

Even though I would like NOT to see yet another straight white man in the White House, I would probably vote for Al over Hilary, Obama or Bill Richardson. He opposed the occupation of Iraq (let’s call it what it is–not a war) from the beginning, and secondly he educated us all about global warming. I could be proud to be an American again if we had someone as smart as him in the White House.

southdakotan | 1/26/2007, 5:37 pm EST

Please,, Run Al Run. This country needs you in our time of great discontent. Gore is the only person that I think can effectively repair this country, on many fronts. I would love to see a Gore/Obama ticket. I would actually put that bumper sticker on my car (and I have never done that).

I wonder what great things Bush will do when he leaves office… lecture on how to hire cheap Mexicans to chop wood fer ya in Texas?

mark t | 1/26/2007, 5:52 pm EST

Absolutely I will vote again for Al Gore. We need (and deserve) a man with his character, he’s a “statesman” which we havn’t had in the White House for 6 years. He would have been a great president when he won in 2000, and will be a great president when he runs and wins again in 2008. Right now we need a man like Al Gore to take over as leader of this nation and make it great again! Hopefully, Bush won’t make things any worse than they are already. Al Gore will already have enough to clean up.

ray | 1/26/2007, 6:03 pm EST

The lack of support Senator Clinton gets here makes me think AL Gore should consider running. I dont see whats wrong with Kucinich better education and real diplomacy are key toa better future and he has a plan for those.

Joe | 1/26/2007, 6:03 pm EST

Al Gore running would be the best thing to happen to the Republicans. If only Gore could stop playing off people’s fears with his “global warming” propaganda, and step in the ring..

**SOMEONE NEEDS TO ASK GORE IF THE 2006 ELECTIONS WERE STOLEN**

Joe | 1/26/2007, 6:08 pm EST

Gore running would be good: the Republicans beat him once, they can do it again.

Talcott | 1/26/2007, 6:25 pm EST

Gore/Clark 08

richard | 1/26/2007, 6:43 pm EST

please run Al! PLEASE!!!!

ces | 1/26/2007, 6:50 pm EST

He won once, he can do it again. I love to imagine that the last six years never happened.
Eisenhower was right; we’re a war business, just
think if someone said “Halve the Pentagon” and
what 300 billion could do for healthcare, education and the environment, and for that matter, New Orleans. Come on, Al! Fix it!!

boksbill | 1/26/2007, 6:53 pm EST

Please, let it be so. Eloquence would be a welcome change. Besides that, he’s on point in the most crucial areas.

Diego | 1/26/2007, 7:17 pm EST

Please Al Run!!! Our Country and World needs you!!!

Jerry | 1/26/2007, 7:36 pm EST

If only he could have carried his own state of Tennessee in 2000 or
Clinton’s home state of Arkansas,
this country would be in a better place than we are at this time.
Should he run in 2008?????
Damn right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Los Angeles Democrat | 1/26/2007, 8:04 pm EST

Gore / Richardson
or
Gore / Clark

Joe | 1/26/2007, 8:05 pm EST

Kucinich is joke.

Billy | 1/26/2007, 8:10 pm EST

Someone needs to ask the elites at Rolling Stone if they are going run a Robert F. Kennedy Jr. article about the stolen votes in the 2006 elections. We need endless investigations and recounts. After all, why is only when Democrats LOSE that the elections are stolen?

echobase | 1/26/2007, 8:15 pm EST

What’s so inspiring about Gore (or any Democrat for that matter) for president? They certainly don’t run on issues. When does a Democrat make you feel good to be an American? After all, they are hellbent on securing America’s defeat in Iraq.

The terrorists endorsed the Dems in ‘06, would they endorse Gore in ‘08? I’d wager a bet they’d do.

Bob Chrstensen | 1/26/2007, 8:40 pm EST

I ve always maintained that we should RE-ELECT AL GORE!!!

Brian | 1/26/2007, 8:42 pm EST

Al Gore should run with Obama as VP. He was right on the environment and Iraq. Electing him would help correct the mistake of electing Bush in 2000.

Virginia Lynch | 1/26/2007, 8:42 pm EST

Yes to Gore! You the Man! Please save our planet & our people! Be our President Now! I will vote for you!

Phil | 1/26/2007, 8:50 pm EST

Gore’s about the only really “exciting” candidate out there. If McCain hadn’t sold out like he was going to die otherwise, and likewise with Hillary…

I second the Gore/Clark (or Clark/Gore. Whichever) nomination.

Steve | 1/26/2007, 9:04 pm EST

The only good thing about the Bush presidency is that maybe people will be so fed up with typical politicians, that they might consider some new ideas. Al Gore is the most typical politician. Old school DC, he’s run for president how many times? Too many. I hope that’d we’ve learned to ask for leaders more inspiring than Al Gore.

Steve | 1/26/2007, 9:08 pm EST

If Gore does run, he better not try this absurd “imagine how much better the last eight years might have been if I’d won” angle. We really don’t need somebody wasting our time in pointless retrospective hypotheticals. The next president should try to look forward. We all know Bush was a bad president, so let’s move on with this next election.

gooyboy | 1/26/2007, 9:25 pm EST

I’ll take Stiff over Stupid any day.

I would understand if he didn’t run. WHAT A MESS to cleanup.

Gore had my vote, and he’ll have it again.

Dan | 1/26/2007, 9:29 pm EST

Yes!

ex-republican | 1/26/2007, 9:37 pm EST

This country needs Al Gore to run. I would even love to see a Gore/Clinton ticket.

BooYah | 1/26/2007, 9:57 pm EST

The way I see it, Al Gore lost the last election because the American people did not see a man who was passionate about what he was doing. When they saw Bush, they could at least relate to the way he presented himself: a typical down home boy. In order to avoid another 2000, Gore needs to translate his passion about climate change and its issues into passion for the Presidency. If he can do that, the Republican party does not stand a chance.

Chicago voter | 1/26/2007, 10:03 pm EST

Are. You. Serious. Edwards is running on ending poverty, which, I’m sorry, is going to get my vote every day of the week. And Obama would be, my god, the first black president. That’s so earth-shattering I’m shocked you would dismiss it so quickly. Al Gore’s a good guy, but…I’m sorry, I’m still laughing you compared him to Bono’s level of stardom. You must be living in some strange other universe.

BurchDoctor | 1/26/2007, 10:15 pm EST

Absolutely Gore should run! I’m a diehard Republican who happens to love “W” and I’d still be thrilled to see Gore enter the race. Though he would probably be the very hardest Dem for us to beat, in the event of a Democratic victory, I’d take Gore with his deep convictions and principled stands over a poll-driven Clinton anyday. PLEASE Mr. Gore–PLEASE go for another run!

Barbara | 1/26/2007, 10:39 pm EST

I’d love to see Gore run….I have been dreaming of this since 2003

NS | 1/26/2007, 10:57 pm EST

Yes! He’s the real deal.

pittsburgh | 1/26/2007, 11:04 pm EST

Re-elect Gore ! Back off, Hilary…you are terrific, but will never win. Stay in the Senate and work on health care for us. We need Gore/Obama with Edwards in the cabinet and Jimmy Carter at the UN.

canu4fish | 1/27/2007, 12:04 am EST

Al Gore is our single most important, most influential, most dynamic hope to save the planet. Hell YES, he should run!

MusicNMorestore | 1/27/2007, 12:25 am EST

Al Gore for President!!!

Hilary for VP

Obama as the Senator for Universal Health Care and a Living Wage fore everyone.

That’s what we need!

Mr. Gore please please please run!!!

sean | 1/27/2007, 12:32 am EST

YES, world need him!

echobase | 1/27/2007, 12:58 am EST

You want 4 more years of Republicans controlling the White House? If so, let Al Gore run.

bilt | 1/27/2007, 1:02 am EST

Hillary is too shrill. Obama is too inexperienced. John Edwards is an ambulance chasing laywer. And Al Gore is a snake oil salesman. **Eight more years of Republicans controlling the White House**.

1098734 | 1/27/2007, 1:04 am EST

If and when the Democrats LOSE in ‘08, would it be another stolen election?

1098734 | 1/27/2007, 1:05 am EST

God, please let Gore run again in ‘08. If only becasue the Republicans will defeat him, again.

Allen L Roland | 1/27/2007, 1:07 am EST

By the end of 2007 the American electorate will be looking for proven integrity and character. Al Gore will hear the call and Russ Feingold will be his running mate.

ex-Democrat | 1/27/2007, 1:08 am EST

A Gore nomination would be the death of the Democrats in ‘08.

ex-Democrat | 1/27/2007, 1:10 am EST

“By the end of 2007 the American electorate will be looking for proven integrity and character. Al Gore will hear the call and Russ Feingold will be his running mate.”

I don’t think Americans are quite as invested in defeat as the Democrats are. I don’t think they want some anti-Americans running the country (Gore/Feingold).

ex-Democrat | 1/27/2007, 1:12 am EST

Al Gore for president? You are a bunch of delusional liberals.

ex-Democrat | 1/27/2007, 1:13 am EST

Some answer me this: was the 2006 elections stolen?

bludd | 1/27/2007, 1:14 am EST

I’m sure the terrorists would openly endorse a Gore/Feingold ticket.

Twain | 1/27/2007, 1:17 am EST

Per Gore: the world will explode in 10 years.

remmy | 1/27/2007, 1:18 am EST

Gore for president! Hugo Chavez for Veep!

dunn | 1/27/2007, 1:19 am EST

The Republicans beat Gore in ‘00. They’d beat him again in ‘08.

Noyce | 1/27/2007, 1:21 am EST

The Republicans would LOVE for Gore to run again. If only to beat him a second time!

Ex LIberal | 1/27/2007, 1:22 am EST

Pelosi is a hot piece of ass.

remmy | 1/27/2007, 1:23 am EST

Gore/Chavez in ‘08!

Benny Hill | 1/27/2007, 1:29 am EST

Is Al Gore a serious threat to the Republicans? Afterall, he lost in ‘00.

Flynnt | 1/27/2007, 1:31 am EST

Can you stupid liberals get over it?
Gore lost in ‘00. Bush WON.

Pillar of God | 1/27/2007, 1:33 am EST

Good question to ask Gore: was the elections stolen in 2006?

Nolafisher | 1/27/2007, 1:48 am EST

Reading some of these comments helps me understand why Civil Wars happen within countries. Seeing Bush’s response to Global Warming and Hurricane Katrina (I was there) tells me that we need to work harder on Democracy here at home and the American way for every American! Our leadership’s politics & denial of reality as the WORLD sees it makes EVERY good American look like an ASS in the eyes of the world!

Earl | 1/27/2007, 1:55 am EST

“Can you stupid liberals get over it?
Gore lost in ‘00. Bush WON.”

Technically yes – but only because Gore conceded the election. If Gore wouldve kept after it, he wouldve had the election(considering he recieved
more votes)

algoraphobe | 1/27/2007, 2:29 am EST

Yes!!! Gore should run. It’ll be fun to watch the Clinton Machine destroy him, along with all the rest.

Starhaven | 1/27/2007, 2:32 am EST

Gore/Obama 2008, 2012
Obama/Gore 2016, 2020

Tyler | 1/27/2007, 2:53 am EST

Should Gore run? That’s a big 10-4. If he does decide to enter the race, I’ll be signing up to work for his campaign in a heartbeat.

DC | 1/27/2007, 4:42 am EST

He is by far the most formidable, capable and experienced candidate who has been right on just about every issue since he last ran (and won) in 2000. He can win and should run.

GORE/OBAMA in 2008!

George | 1/27/2007, 5:17 am EST

Go Gore Go! We need a strong leader, and you are it. Please run, and you’ve got my vote.

Professor Barbara Hassid | 1/27/2007, 6:24 am EST

Please, Vice-President Gore….run for the 2008 election….I’ll sacrifice a great deal of time working on your campaign in California!!! I promise to believe in GOD again if you run!! There is simply no one with your integrity, credentials, experience and depth of knowledge and command of the isuues…

Al Gore is the true President. Not this lying, criminal, scumbag that “W” turned out to be.Get used to losing elections you greedy bastard republicans. When these two cowardly traitors are done(bush\cheney)it will be a long time before conservatives win anything

David | 1/27/2007, 9:15 am EST

Rawrp,

Why do you do that? Why do you think insulting me will strengthen your argument?

Look, you can say you think Gore was “wooden”, just as I can say I think he wasn’t. Where does that get us? Neither of these very highly subjective emotional responses on our parts is, by themselves, more valid than the other. However, YOUR type of response DID hurt Gore’s campaign. It wasn’t the ONLY thing that hurt his campaign, but it certainly didn’t help.

Further, sometimes things, and ideas, and policies are hard. They have detail, and there’s no good thing to be found in oversimplifying them. The sciences of evolutionary biology, of global climate change, of Big Bang cosmology, cannot be understood without the will to learn a few details. The same is true of aircraft engine maintenance, and it is ALSO true of many government policies, including tax and health care. Gore was able to and willing to master the details of governing, and it made him the MORE QUALIFIED candidate.

Unfortunately, it also made him the more unintelligable candidate to people unwilling themselves to consider the irreducible complexities of governance, and for that he was labeled “wonkish”.

So is that really what we’re reduced to? Don’t tell me the truth about the world, you nerd, because it makes my head hurt. Just tell me something pleasing, and maybe tell me a joke while you’re at it.

Jesse Chavarria | 1/27/2007, 10:30 am EST

Mr. Gore, please, please run for president. The country needs you – a capable, decent, effective, smart leader who can address the serious issues and concerns facing our nation.

Dr. Ralph | 1/27/2007, 10:47 am EST

Hell yes Gore should run! As a Volunteer it will be fun to help him lose his home state again while watching the red staters induce their will and wars on the East and Left Coast concrete dwellers! Suck on that….

Dr. Ralph | 1/27/2007, 10:51 am EST

Hey Al, your mom called and said carry your ass back to Carthage, the hogs need slopped. Yeeehaaaww!!

Indiana Watson | 1/27/2007, 10:53 am EST

An Inconvenient Truth convinced me Gore is the guy for President if he runs. He’s honest and self-deprecating, very real, especially when compared with the Bush / Cheney arrogance. And I’d support Hillary Clinton for VP if that pair likes the match themselves. I already support Gore against the idiotic, ignorant Bush / Cheney Iraq War, which is obviously all about their greed for oil and money with their friends via Halliburton and Blackhawk.

kmarcus122 | 1/27/2007, 11:10 am EST

IT’S AMAZING HOW THE SUBJECT OF AL GORE BRINGS OUT SO MANY DUMBASS Ws…Ws being you dumbass Bush supporters like Dr Ralph out here. You Ws obviuosly only care about your wallets, F150s and getting into heaven through the back door.

Maybe Gore shouldn’t run. The dumbass redneck Ws don’t deserve him. Let them burn up with the atmosphere…LMAO!!

Nick | 1/27/2007, 11:30 am EST

Yes. YES! I’m have very little disposable income, but I would work extra shifts just to have more to donate to his campaign.

Chris | 1/27/2007, 12:22 pm EST

Absolutely he should run. Gore is the most honorable and decent politician this country has seen in a long time; he truly cares about making this nation, and the world, a better place. Having had the election stolen from him in 2000, it would be fitting that he comes back strong in ‘08 to dig us out of a mess that would never have happened if the Supreme Court had done the right thing in 2000 and allowed the Florida recount to go forward.

fckn red | 1/27/2007, 1:22 pm EST

Cmon Mr. Gore it’s time to show them what you can do!

S Stennett | 1/27/2007, 1:37 pm EST

Gore should definantly run. He is one of the few democrats that I would vote for and he already won once.

a green liberal christian | 1/27/2007, 2:00 pm EST

Gore in 08! I would certainly support his campaign in any way I could! I recently got to meet Mr. Gore and have even more respect for him than I did before…he is an incredible man…wise, personable, caring, and would provide terrific leadership for the U.S. at a time when we so desperately need it. Not to mention we need someone who won’t just pay lip service to global warming. This issue WILL be the issue to deal with, whether you like it or not. ENOUGH TALK. IT’S TIME TO SAVE THE PLANET.

Hop Toad | 1/27/2007, 2:11 pm EST

Look what it did for Forrest Gump.

Run, Al, run.

Dr. Ralph | 1/27/2007, 2:34 pm EST

Wow! Did someone actually use balls and Gore in the same sentence without the proverbial needs or lacks? I love it when a plan comes together! Come on kmarcus122, get your facts right… I drive a Silverado LOL! As far as the great global warming scam it’s just an empowerment ploy to convince mindless minions that they need to give Big Brother complete and total control or die a flaming death. Kind of like religion, don’t you think? Obviously not or you wouldn’t be a Dumbocrat. Hell, we’re just trying to stave off the next ice age for a few centuries. You can thank us later. Sign me dumb ass (two words thank you very much) W and proud of it.

GH | 1/27/2007, 2:57 pm EST

As soon as a major newspaper, or network news, does a full investigative report in the public view, as to how the airline industry’s lobbying efforts (to Democrats) to stop the reccomendations of the Gore Airline Commission Report from being implemented, and how that may have left us vulnerable to the 9/11 attacks, possibly we’ll have a clearer picture.
Of course that report could lead us to Occidental Petrolium, the U’Wa indiginous tribe in Columbia, and the government auction of the Elks property to Occidental Pet. in CA.

Carol/Teacher | 1/27/2007, 3:07 pm EST

Please, Al, our students need hope in a world where the environment seems to always take a back seat to defense and corporate profit. You could be that hope, that beacon, that this country could again be a leader for global change.

John M | 1/27/2007, 7:37 pm EST

This country sorely needs to hit the rewind button, turn back to eight years ago, and begin again. Al Gore is the only person who can make this to happen. We are aching for honesty, vision and leadership.

Mateo | 1/27/2007, 7:43 pm EST

Let’s see, Gore was right on Global Warming, the war in Irag, and so many other things. Absolutely Gore should run!! He’s got my vote already!

Al Gore | 1/27/2007, 7:54 pm EST

I just take an opposite stance on anything Bush does and magically I’m right. His idiocy makes me look like a genius. In reality, my stances and opinions are ultimately insignificant because of my political impotence.

Frank | 1/27/2007, 7:57 pm EST

I was right about the war in Iraq and Global Warming. You don’t have to be a genius to call these things. Maybe you should elect me President.

Bobbie | 1/27/2007, 8:23 pm EST

I’m not sure if he should run or not. The presidency comes with all kinds of baggage. It seems that he’s more able to affect policy with what he’s doing than in the political straightjacket in Washington. I think he’s lost his passion for politics. This new roll is his passion, that’s why he seems happier. He’s a force to be reckoned with in this role. Using his creativity to change public opinion, in the long run, is more powerful than the presidency. I say “Follow your bliss, Al!”

JohnH | 1/27/2007, 9:15 pm EST

Reelect Gore in 2008.

Honest, experienced, smart, and the best hope to save the planet.

Please run Al.

Lisa Chase | 1/27/2007, 9:25 pm EST

He is the best man or woman for the job. Just think of where we would be right now had he actually took residence in the white house 6 years ago…

fightthetheocracy! | 1/27/2007, 9:45 pm EST

Al Gore can’t get elected for one very simple reason, he’s too intelligent. The public by and large hates intellectuals, this is why I think we got saddled with dumbass for the last six years, because even though he didn’t have anything to offer and had no interest in real problems, he was still seen as “geniune” despite the fact that he was a rich mommas boy who got to coast through life with other people’s help. His precious ranch was purchased the same year he ran for office and he had the speech articulation of a three year old, yet people still saw something there. The reason for this is disturbing, and it is the same reason the reTHUGlicans have been winning every election every year up until now, they offered an over simplified view of the world, one where everything is either “good” or “evil” and there is no in-between. A Saturday morning cartoon worldview.

Everything about Bush was and is phony, yet he still has the most loyal supporters of any president ever, it’s unheard of. Which is ironic given the fact that the reTHUGlicans have run every election on the “geniune american” image. Who represents “real values” and who doesn’t. The democrats are going to have a hard time finding a candidate because they know that the world isn’t black and white, the question is, how do you sell that to the american public? Gore isn’t the best face to do that, for one thing, he already had a chance and in the mind of the electorate he is now an “also ran”. He gives the public too much credit intellectually, that was what cost him the first time. Clinton knew how to talk to people in a way that they could understand but still got the point across. Gore lacked this skill.

David Callard | 1/27/2007, 10:29 pm EST

Unfortunately Australians don’t get to vote in US elections. If we did, I would be one of multitudes who would vote for Al. I admire his sincerety, his dedication and his intelligence. This man has the potential to be a truly great President. Gee, it’s about time.

CHris | 1/27/2007, 11:13 pm EST

Al should run. He should be president now. Take back Al what is yours! Gore 2008!

Matt Rogers | 1/28/2007, 2:52 am EST

Al should absolutely run! He’ll have my vote and the votes of all my friends and family.

UpAroundAndDown | 1/28/2007, 3:31 am EST

Al Gore was robbed and SHOULD have been President at the turn of the century. Thusly, THE US would have secured a more stable position as a WORLD LEADER. As far as qualifications, he certainly can run rings around Bush. i WOULD EASILY VOTE FOR gORE.

Mars | 1/28/2007, 5:04 am EST

if al gore runs for president, he has my vote…i would back him 100%, as would friends and family…run, al, run!

Green for Gore | 1/28/2007, 9:48 am EST

I became a Green in 1997 and volunteered for Nader’s Campaign in 2000. I will work my ass off to help Gore win in 08. We needs a real environmentalist in the White House!

Suzie Kidder | 1/28/2007, 10:04 am EST

He spent his “time in the wilderness” wisely and well. Run Al, run.

Lydia | 1/28/2007, 10:21 am EST

Gore has 2 big supporters in this household.

But Rolling Stone should have given him the cover all by himself!

Theresa | 1/28/2007, 11:30 am EST

Gore is the answer. We need a leader to bring the “world” to a new level of understanding about the environment. Imagine the United States being considered a world leader in a far more positive way.
Run Al run! We need you.

mitch | 1/28/2007, 1:15 pm EST

Al Gore should run for the following reasons
1. Hilary is too polarizing and inexperienced, (she amy have lived in the govenors mansion and White House but before her Senate seat never held public office)
2. Obama is too inexperienced, maybe a VP or in 8 years
3. Edwards, same as Obama
4.Gore made the right call on Iraq and has more experience than all the others combined
5. Gore can win whare I don’t see any of the other Democrats with broad enough appeal
Run Al Run

Annie M. | 1/28/2007, 1:23 pm EST

While Dubya’s nose was pressed against the windows of Air Force One looking down at the Katrina disaster, Al was on the ground at the NO airport, loading up patients from Charity Hospital and airlifting them to Knoxville, TN. THIS IS OUR REAL PRESIDENT IN ACTION. Have Courage, Al! Find the strength to jump again into the campaign mosh pit. We will lift you up and carrying you to the White House on Jan. 20, 2009.

Squeedunque | 1/28/2007, 2:26 pm EST

Mr. Gore should run as far away from political office as possible.

He would hae trouble being elected dog catcher now.

Retire in peace, Al.

Live Green or ??? | 1/28/2007, 2:32 pm EST

Al Gore is the Anti-Bush…..That says it all….One more vote for Gore, Re-Elect Gore 2008!

Kaye Fissinger | 1/28/2007, 2:52 pm EST

Yes, run, Al, run. He has this woman’s unequival support. He’s right on the issues and he’s had the courage to speak out elequently and forcefully against the disastrous Bush administration. He should pick Barak Obama as his running mate. What a dynamic ticket that would make. No Republican could touch it.

Allan SO | 1/28/2007, 3:33 pm EST

Of all candidates even remotely on offer, of any party, Gore would make by far the best president. The “wonk” label should be a plus: he is smart, earnest, hardworking, principled: you can put “very” in front of all these. He is always the best-prepared person in the room. He takes opposing views seriously (until they show they don’t deserve it). He is one of few politicians respected by scientists, and the only one they regard as a peer or better for his grasp of the big picture.

His only weakness is that he hates the stupidity and waste of campaigns: the empty rhetoric, manufactured “issues”, manufactured audiences, posturing, trivial “gotcha” moments, and mind-numbing endless repetition. I don’t blame him. So I hope he runs, but won’t blame him if he doesn’t.

Capitalist Pig | 1/28/2007, 4:18 pm EST

Just what we need… chicken little in the White House. Fortunately, he has a snowballs chance in hell.

Margaret | 1/28/2007, 8:28 pm EST

Run, Al, Run! There is not another person with any hope of winning who can fix the mess that’s been made in the last 8 years.

How I long to vote for someone I believe in.

Darrin | 1/28/2007, 8:55 pm EST

The causes of the environmental problems in this world run much deeper than burning to much fuel in our cars. There needs to be a tremendous amount of cooperation between many countries to overhaul the way we do everything. Al Gore is the only one who has the political experience and will to accomplish this. He can’t do that just by making movies, he needs to become the President.

Word | 1/28/2007, 9:56 pm EST

Run Al run! Save the world from the idiot cons and the religious psychopaths!

Shore | 1/28/2007, 10:04 pm EST

If it ain’t Obama, it’s gotta be Gore. Just so long as he doesn’t turn all willy-nilly on us.

This strategy of his, if it is a strategy, to wait out the other contenders, is a good one. Early candidates open themselves up for much more criticism.

thatguy | 1/29/2007, 2:37 am EST

He’s got my vote.
I’ll be really glad to see conservatives squirm when Al Gore reclaims what was stolen from him!!!

BillyBreathes71 | 1/29/2007, 9:30 am EST

RightWing | 1/29/2007, 10:02 am EST

As a Republican, I’d be delighted to see Gore as the nominee of the liberal party again. He couldn’t even carry his own state in 2000.

Jerry | 1/29/2007, 10:10 am EST

America needs Al Gore. Please run, Al!

The boy king must go! | 1/29/2007, 11:57 am EST

Gore beat Bush the first time and he can beat the best Rove and his pals have left. I would donate my time, sweat and money to help Al —not only bring our country together but to also help unite the whole world!

Somewhere In the Middle | 1/29/2007, 1:22 pm EST

While I appreciate everyone’s misguided optimism, even if Al Gore does get elected (chances are slim and none), I highly doubt that all the Islamofacist terrorists are going to put down their weapons, hold our hands and sing kumbaya as many of you are insinuating. If anything they will realize we have a nutless leader and exploit that weakness.

lib mom | 1/29/2007, 2:35 pm EST

Gore/Obama. Gore/Richardson. Yes, yes and yes. Al Gore is brilliant, down to earth and has found his inner “isiah”. Love him and would campaign for him in a heartbeat.

YES YES YES!!! | 1/29/2007, 3:28 pm EST

Dear Al Gore…
We need you! A president with a conscience. A man who cares if the planet survives. A president with a brain wants peace. Please run. You have my vote. Hillary or Barack or John Edwards can be your vice president…But we owe you one buddy. WE WANT GORE!!!

V. Frye | 1/29/2007, 6:25 pm EST

Al gore is a good candidate for President; I would never vote for him but… Hillary is an invention of the press. She has four more years in the senate than does Obama. She has done nothimg exceptional or even average as far as I can remember. She was in the white house for eight years but Bush lied to her about the Iraqi threat. Wasn’t her husband and John Kerry the leaders on the Iraqi liberation act? What was Mr. Clinton’s evidence of the threat? Did he forget to tell her ala the blue dress. Obama is liberal but He at least presents himself as reasonable. Gore is full of the hot air that is heating up our planet. All his gaseous hy[ocrisy is warming up our enemies; not the islamist the Euros

Capitalist Pig | 1/29/2007, 6:41 pm EST

I see Gore is writing a book called “The Assault on Reason”, must be his autobiography judging by the title.

mICHELLE | 1/29/2007, 6:59 pm EST

YES, YES, YES! PLEASE AL RUN.THE PEOPLE NEED YOU, THE PLANET NEEDS
YOU, AMERICA NEEDS YOU AND OUR TROOPS NEED YOU.

James | 1/29/2007, 7:56 pm EST

When did being right and smart become a disadvantage??? The only disadvantage is in not being able to communicate your ideas to the average person. In this Gore has proved himself spectacularly capable. So run Al, you will do the best job and take the people with you. Run Al Run!

Foolrex | 1/29/2007, 8:05 pm EST

GO for America! (of course, “GO” means Gore/Obama.) PLEASE Al, do it for America AND the planet.

PaulH. | 1/29/2007, 9:04 pm EST

He’s always had my vote, and he’s always been President Gore to me, especially in these past six dreadful, dark years.

patrice | 1/29/2007, 9:05 pm EST

Suddenly I’m hopeful again. Go Al!

Holly | 1/29/2007, 11:38 pm EST

Yes – GO (Gore/Obama) is the winning ticket. Imagine what would have been and make it happen in ‘08!

tony | 1/30/2007, 12:10 am EST

Al Gore has been running since 1984,and he hasnt won yet.He wont this time either.Global warming is not the issue and you know it.My god,how can you even suggest this man get in the race.shame on you.

Sara from Philly | 1/30/2007, 12:31 am EST

For the love of God, yes. Al Gore is the only logical choice for the Democratic nomination in 2008. He’s got direction, the passion to reach goals, the eloquence and intelligence to lead and assure this country…all of the things that have been sorely lacking in the past 6 years! To reference the article, yes, just *imagine* what would have become of the U.S.

PLEASE RUN, MR. GORE! You’re the only politician with whom I feel any degree of confidence. Please help this country!

CONNOR ARROYO | 1/30/2007, 1:51 am EST

President Gore has an excellent mind and good values in terms of what America IS. The deeply criminal and fraudulent cheney/bush regime’s march toward fascism is frightening to many in other countries, not just this one. I think however he can best serve as an elder statesman for the Party, Hillary Rodham Clinton doesn’t especially impress me, she seems entirely too calculating, I like Senator Edwards as a progressive voice, and think that EDWARDS/OBAMA ‘08 is THE TICKET to WIN, and win we must. The damage of the cheney/bush regime is breathtaking and MUST be UNDONE!

Lynn | 1/30/2007, 2:43 am EST

Yes, Al, please, run. The best comment I read here was re the American public liking simple and dumb candidates, like W. I think Al has figured out how to not look too smart and talk in simple terms. He is a respected and honest leader. And his first act in office, and not announced on the campaign trail, should be to toss out the Electoral College along with all corrupted voting machines. If he runs and isn’t elected, it will only because the fascist Republican cowards got away with stealing yet another election.

Let Them Eat Cake | 1/30/2007, 3:24 am EST

First, everyone that has any political savvy, knows Gore won 2000 but, we had Rich White Trash that “Fixed” the state for bro, George and, Florida gave us the Big Lemon(Most Universities/Investigations revealed that six years ago.)

Gore has all the intelligence and real concern for the planet and the people but, not sure his age and past experience would move him to accept the candidacy, if it were offered to him.(Gore would be a great advisor or make the Best Head of the EPA) if a Democrat wins in 2008.

Anything is possible, but I still like Obama and Edwards, but Gore’s experience would certainly be a boost to them…(He is amazing!)

Let Them Eat Cake | 1/30/2007, 4:20 am EST

How is it that the Repubes have finally “brainstormed” that Iraq was a profit venture for the Republican “Three Stooges”(Bush/Cheney/Barney-um m, Rove)but an ethical and utter failure for our Country?(Only took years!)

The Repubes can’t figure out how real Democracies work and how “Elections” can be screwed?

But they spent millions on “Investigations” re. “Whitewater” that turned out to be zilch/nada, science fiction?

The Republicans loved witch hunts and “impeachments” over Bill’s romantic”indiscretions” even though he ran the Country Well.

The same Repube Clueless group think “Investigations” over hundreds of billions of dollars MISSPENT on illicit wars, improving, protecting the environment, finding out how the last two presidential elections were rigged, how a war based on lies was foisted on Americans and our troops, who controlled our energy policies, and who profiteered off the Iraq war, how the FCC is controlled by a Fascist right-wing Corporate power is just a “Waste of Time”?

Too bad honesty, responsibility, political ethics and, intelligence aren’t high priority on the Republican List of ‘To- Dos’…

Had Gore been allowed to take the Office he Won, doubt 9/11 would have been allowed to be the Disaster it Was, and our economy and environmental laws would have been adhered to…

Now, we have the Usual Imbeciles intent on following the same Clown Goad Iran into War and this one may End much Worse than the last(which is going on forever)…

And the Republicans can’t seem to figure it out(?)

No-Al-No | 1/30/2007, 9:02 am EST

Gore might win the party nomination but he would lose the general election. People forget all the crazy (and some people say unstable) comments by Gore over the years like ‘He invented the Internet’ and ‘his Mom would sing “Look for the Union Label” to him when he was a child (even though the song was not written yet)’

And people also forget that the so-called ‘intelligent’ Gore got his clock cleaned by the so-called ‘dumb’ Bush in the debates.

If Gore could not get elected running as the VP of a popular President, he will have a much harder time winning as the darling of the Netroots.

And only intellectually challenged people still claim the election was stolen from him. There were 9 full recounts done by major newspapers of the Florida count (including USA Today) and Bush won 8 of the 9. The only one Gore won was when they counted “possible intent” meaning chads that had an indent but were not pushed through.

Joe | 1/30/2007, 9:40 am EST

2008 is all Gore if he wants it hell he all ready won in 2000 being robed by the right wingers whos only way to win elections is to cheat steal and lie there way into office. So yes Al Gore should run and will be our next president of the great united state of america. Please run Gore Please.Help us americans take back our country from those cheating thieves from hell.

NotoriousQED | 1/30/2007, 9:44 am EST

Given his prescient stand on opposing the war in Iraq, his longtime study of climate change, and his length and breadth of service in Washington, I’m convinced the vice-president is waiting in the wings for the current crop to batter each other bloody before entering the fray.

When he does finally declare, he’ll
prolly have more in the campaign till than all the candidates combined, and will virtually go swanning in to the White House, no matter who he chooses as VP.

I think he’d do well to consider John Edwards as veep…smart, tough, a natural-born preacher man for the Populist South.

Above all, we MUST NOT WRITE OFF the southern states. The demography is changing there and a strong dose of economic populism will be welcomed there as it has not been in some time. Howard Dean was right-we must be a party that competes in 50 states, and he proved it last November!

ConsDemo | 1/30/2007, 9:56 am EST

Yes, absolutely! Al is far more qualified than Hillary, who seems mainly interested in power for power’s sake. Unlike her, he was right about Iraq from the start and he will bring strong leadership on global warming.

Run Al, Run!

mike cox | 1/30/2007, 10:24 am EST

no. gore should not run. he wouldn’t get the dem nomination at this point. we’re most likely stuck with hillary, who has many criminal investigations looming in the shadows from pre-clinton whitehouse years and beyond, and Obama, who has risen from no where to jump into this fray nearly at the top. gore, on the other hand has too much negative stigma still attached to him from the 00 election where he never should have given up because he won. when he admitted defeat in that election, he let down the 50 million people majority that voted for him, the majority of florida voters that voted for him, and the constitution of the US. forget gore.

JeffS | 1/30/2007, 11:17 am EST

I was talking politics with a friend recently and told him I thought Gore was the ideal candidate. After reading this article and the views of many others it’s obvious that Gore’s our man. I think if he runs the presidency is his. Everyone but Gore leaves something to be desired.

pamk | 1/30/2007, 12:04 pm EST

Gore should absolutely run. Not only did he win once in 2000, but he has a BRAIN!

Somewhere In the Middle | 1/30/2007, 12:06 pm EST

Ha ha ha! Had Al Gore been in office 9/11 would not have been the disaster it was? You have got to be kidding me. If Al Gore had been in office, he would still be taking polls to see what action should be taken in response. If anything our women would be wearing burqas and we’d all be speaking Arabic right now. And another thing, Al Gore did not win the election in 2000. Whether you like it or not, this country has and will continue to use the electoral college to elect it’s presidents. The only people claiming that Al Gore is the rightful president are sore losers who will continue to live in the past because they have no viable plan for the future. They are also of the same ilk as the shitheads that spray-painted the Capitol steps on Saturday during their little rally. Funny how it’s always the far left that rely on childish tactics like that to try and get noticed. Maybe if they spent more time on their arguments, people would actually care about what they had to say.

repubs_r_lame | 1/30/2007, 12:50 pm EST

Republicans = destruction of America

How long before the Repubs realize that their ideals are just plain wrong and bad for ANY country?

Go Gore! Clean the mess the conservatives have dumped on us!

LoveOverGold | 1/30/2007, 1:17 pm EST

Gore/Feingold ‘08!
Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Richards, not a chance. The MSM will not do their job in the run-up to the ‘08 election. The only chance the Democrats have is putting their trust in the two men, Gore and Feingold, who have consistantly opposed the Iraq invasion. Hillary Clinton has flopped on the issue, so has Biden. Richardson is bland and unknown outside his state. Obama…what do we really know about him? Plus he has no chance now that the MSM is helping out gleefully with the muck-raking begun by Fox and the talk radio ministers of misinformation. Reality, folks, reality.

Maureen | 1/30/2007, 3:11 pm EST

JeffS | 1/30/2007, 4:47 pm EST

Gore/Feingold? I really like both guys. Together they are the perfect ticket.

Capitalist Pig | 1/30/2007, 5:57 pm EST

“How long before the Repubs realize that their ideals are just plain wrong and bad for ANY country?”

I guess we should try liberal ideals, after all they worked so well in the USSR, China, Cuba, and North Korea. What is the body count up to now…around 100 million? Yeah some ideals. Look at the great socialist countries in Europe. Their economies are in terrible shape, islamic fanatics are over taking the countries thanks to their open immigration policies, and they are weak. Yeah we should follow liberal ideals. If anyone needs to realize their policies don’t work for anyone or any country it is liberals. Every idea is just the same old marxism repackaged. You would think by now the left would have learned their lesson and see what a failure their ideas have been and will continue to be.

Frank Dixon | 1/30/2007, 6:26 pm EST

Gore is still our only legitimately elected president in the last 10 years. Gore – Obama

lawoffwr@aol.com | 1/30/2007, 10:30 pm EST

Jed Clampett | 1/31/2007, 2:39 pm EST

Jack, it wasn’t their ideology that made those countries failed states. It is the fact that they turned totalitarian, which is what our current administration seems to be doing here. Those countries imagination that by controlling everything they could help everyone ignored one basic variable. Human nature. The propensity for humans to help themselves and their closest allies to become wealthy on the shoulders of others. If Russia had immediately prosecuted and subjected corrupt politicians in the harshest of terms perhaps communism would have had a chance. Unfortunately, it merely became another form of making the disparity between the classes even worse. They destroyed the middle class and therefore the future of their nation. This is the result of their near sighted, selfish way of being, not the stated ideology of the time. That ideology, much like capitalism, was never truly implemented as it should have been. The same fate awaits the US if it doesn’t immediately put in check the corruption in our leadership. They must know that corruption, at any level, will be met with a minimum of 5 yrs prison.

Scott | 1/31/2007, 2:51 pm EST

Gore/Obama will win in ‘08 in a historic LANDSLIDE victory…;-)

Heidi | 1/31/2007, 3:29 pm EST

A Gore/Obama ticket would unstoppable! Check out Gore’s unreleased campaign videos directed by Spike Jonze in 2000 – find them on You Tube – it’s heartbreaking to see “what could have been!” America needs this man more than ever! Mr. Gore – PLEASE RUN!!!

Hallzee | 1/31/2007, 4:09 pm EST

Why would Al run for President? He is making more money now, and is more popular than he would ever be as President.

Gore and Hillary ticket would be nice to see.

I know how you Libs love bumper stickers. Here’s one for you.

Bore/Whore08′

I’m sorry. What was I thinking? She would never allow that.

Whore/Bore08′

And enough with the sour grapes “re-elect Gore” crap. The SOB lost, and if Gore was so sure he won, then why did he quit on you Libs? If he wouldn’t fight for his political life, then what makes you think he would ever fight for our country?

How about a Gore/BinLaden08′ticket?

R | 1/31/2007, 4:55 pm EST

I’d vote for Al.

Scott Mansfield | 1/31/2007, 5:09 pm EST

Gore would be someone many of us could vote FOR, rather than someone, such as Kerry, that many of used as a vote AGAINST Bush.

Mary | 1/31/2007, 6:18 pm EST

Yes, Yes, Yes!!!

Stu | 1/31/2007, 9:36 pm EST

The Gore/Barack ticket would wipe out anything the Republican’s could field – I simply can’t see what they can put up against their combined credibility and appeal on the issues that matter right now – the war, climate change and inequality.

Marcio | 1/31/2007, 9:50 pm EST

Yes, he should/must run! We need to have a real debate about important issues like Global Warming and truly solving the chaos in the Middle East instead of political flash grenades meant to distract and confuse people. I find it interesting that so many posts focus on party lines. Isn’t it time to evaluate candidates on the issues instead?

Every politicians wants to spin why we’re in Iraq. Is it really that complicated? We need oil and they have lots of it. President Bush is proposing a 20% reduction in oil consumption in 10 years — wow! That’s like asking someone who smokes a pack a day to cut back by 4 cigarettes a day for a decade — they’ll probably die before the decade is out! We put a man on the moon in 10 years! We don’t need Joe Average for President — someone that we can relate to. (If you own a business, do you want Joe Average to run it or the smartest person that you can find?) I don’t want someone that I can relate in the oval office — I want someone much better than I! Someone who will raise the bar and set America back on course to what it is truly great at — innovation and lofty ambitious. I think that Al Gore would set us on an aggressive course to eliminate our dependency on oil in 10 years (yes, it won’t be easy and there will be plenty of pain but nothing worthwhile is ever easy). This goal not only addresses Global Warning but also addresses the Middle East dilemma by taking away the money used to fund terrorists and the desire of every nation to meddle in their affairs.

A Gore/Obama ticket! What an inspired pairing! There is no way that I can believe in Hillary as anything more than a packaged wind sock. The Republicans are front-loading with recycled Spam and can openers.
Imagine the tasks that face our next leaders as they try to put American back in United States and undo 8 years of a shameful rule by contempt, deception, and something about a pet goat.

Lorraine Chavarria | 1/31/2007, 11:31 pm EST

Yes, please run! Please! We NEED you!

Dave in PA | 1/31/2007, 11:48 pm EST

Hillary’s Hillary. She can’t win. Unfortunately, Obama’s a good man but his name sounds too much like Osama, which won’t EVER carry in Mississippi, Louisiana or Alabama. Put him on the ticket with Gore, however, and the good Dems might have a chance. Al should’ve won the first time, and it’s a shame that he lost his drive to lead our great nation over Chad (the hanging one). Hopefully, his recent media exposure and impact will help him to see that he can be, and is, a great leader who can help this nation be righted. His movie told so much, but it’s obviously not the only thing he’s about…Remember when he said that the Iraq war was wrong??? We obviously need someone to fix things…….Mr. Gore, PLEASE RUN!

Gregory Wright greg@newciv.or | 2/1/2007, 1:32 am EST

Overheard at Al Gore’s 100th birthday party in 2048 (while a fierce heat wave baked the desolate junkscape outside):

“IF WE HAD ELECTED AL GORE PRESIDENT BACK IN 2000, WE WOULDN’T HAVE ALL THESE PROBLEMS NOW!”

Jane | 2/1/2007, 5:05 am EST

It’s finally his time. He is the clear and best choice. I fervently hope we are given that choice. Please, Al, RUN!!!

klinca | 2/1/2007, 5:09 am EST

Yes he should run. He’s getting fat sitting on the sidelines.

Nan | 2/1/2007, 9:44 am EST

Al should run, most absolutely. But not with Obama. Obama is overexposed and the public will be sick of him in about three minutes. Besides, what experience does he actually have? Gore is too real and too serious to get caught up in Obamamania. It’s childish. Run, Al, Run!

Viki | 2/1/2007, 1:03 pm EST

Aye.

be_a_mod | 2/1/2007, 1:15 pm EST

It’s funny, Pig, that, as Jack said, your “Liberal” (i.e. communist) examples are exactly what your Bushie is emulating.

Why don’t you stop, look, and THINK (is that something foreign to you conservatives?) before accusing your opponents of doing exactly what your own Repubs are doing!

What a country needs is actually a BALANCE of liberal and conservative ideals, not all one or all the other (i.e. MODERATE). The problem with you conservatives is that if ANY hint of liberalism comes into view, you all start criticizing the hell out of it. We’ve had solid conservative rule for 12+ years now, and we can see that a one-party majority does more harm than good.

ralph and sally gray | 2/1/2007, 5:17 pm EST

Gore won once, why not again!

Bruce | 2/1/2007, 8:46 pm EST

He really is the only electable candidate that the Democrats have, and he is the right person for the job. How do we get him to run?

Dom | 2/1/2007, 9:38 pm EST

Run, Al, run. America needs you!

Jaime | 2/2/2007, 11:32 am EST

Absolutely! I would love to see Al run. I’ve always been a supporter, and i think his priorities are right on, even more so today. Gore/Obama in 08 would be a great ticket. People would love to see Obama in the White House, but his lack of experience can be propped up by Gore’s great level of experience. Obama is the dignitary Al can send Obama for international relations and domestic appearances, a person people love to hear speak, and Gore has been known to bore the typical voter with his intellectual speeches. The environment issue needs to move up to a higher priority, and what better person to do this than Al Gore. Education is another issue that’s critical to our Democratic principles working smoothly, not to mention many other facets of a society; this ticket would have that covered across the board. People are tired of Clinton-Bush faces; Gore has the elements people appreciate from the Clinton days, but with a fresh face that Obama can bring to the ticket, party and country.

Carmen in Chicago | 2/2/2007, 11:53 am EST

Selfishly, I’d say YES with as much capitalization and emphasis possible. But I actually like Al Gore more than that. I think he’s happy doing what he’s doing. I think he’s doing an incredible amount of good for the world and I’m not sure he could do the same amount as a candidate or as a President. The process of running for political office is to corrosive and the burden of holding an office is to weighty to allow any person – even the best of the best – to really do as much good as a person outside the system. So, Run, Al, Run if its what you want. You’ve got my vote. But more importantly, Thanks, Al, Thanks, for everything you’ve already done.

Robin | 2/2/2007, 12:13 pm EST

Yes Al, PLEASE run! I want the Republican to win, and you’re good at losing!!!!

TIM | 2/2/2007, 12:41 pm EST

I HOPE HE GOES FOR IT. TIME TO GET THIS COUNTRY BACK ON TRACK.

Scott | 2/2/2007, 12:46 pm EST

Please Al,we need you, even those too willfully ignorant to know it.

Nicole | 2/2/2007, 12:52 pm EST

If he runs, he definitely has my vote. I think he is the best candidate, regardless of party, for this country. As long as he doesn’t choose Lieberman for vp, I’m sure he’ll win. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE RUN AL. THIS COUNTRY AND THE WORLD NEED YOU!!!!!!

And as for Robin stating, “Yes Al, PLEASE run! I want the Republican to win, and you’re good at losing!!!!,” while there is still some dispute as to whether or not Gore won the electoral vote, there is not question that he won the popular vote. But what would I expect from someone that’s part of the 33% of the country that still have their heads up their butts.

andy | 2/2/2007, 1:02 pm EST

I’d like to see a candidate run on issues instead of running on a platform. As some have indicated the difference between candidates is not always obvious as they jockey for the Presidency. Gore, at least has developed his credentials as an environmentalist on the edges of the political arena. He really believes this stuff rather than espousing it in order to get support.

Actually it tickles my funny bone to think that if he were to pick up the front running Dem as his vice president it could be a Gore/Clinton run this time around.

Lindsay | 2/2/2007, 1:02 pm EST

It’s about time we elected someone into office that ACTUALLY cares about environmental issues and is willing to put them up front.

the ambassador | 2/2/2007, 1:19 pm EST

Yes Al Gore please run. Yes you are having a huge impact now, and the presidency might stimey that a bit because of politics etc, but america NEEDS YOU to be president. You won the first time, may have stung when it was stolen, trust us, it stung us all, alot! But this time you can do it. You were ahead of your time. Now it appears the country has caught up to you. PLease run. Thank you ROLLING STONE!

Voicedude | 2/2/2007, 1:20 pm EST

Oh, Lord let it be so….

First and foremost, Iraq should be the number one agenda in the campaign (Gore was one of the first few to publicly condemn it), and finding an alternative to fossil fuels should be number two (for numerous reasons: environment, the Middle East lunatics, and hello! we’re running out!). We need a leader with the courage and conviction that JFK had when he promised to put a man on the moon by the end of the decade. And guess what? We DID just that! If we had leadership that ween get us off of our oil addiction (unlike current leaders Bush, Cheney, Condi – ALL in the Oil Baron’s pockets!) we could actually accomplish this task. Will we wait until gas is $20 a gallon before we BEGIN this thinking? Let’s get ourselves to OFF fossil fuels to the point where OPEC will have to feed oil to their starving children because no one is buying it any more.

Hilary CANNOT win. Neither can Obama. These are facts that most political experts agree on. Gore DID win. And he’ll win again WHEN he decides to run. Keep the buzz going; keep him in the public mind. Timing is everything. And remember, grass roots movements have started to unravel the Bush regime, and they can take our leadership BACK!

RUN, ALBERT, RUN!!!
Your country NEEDS you!

Bernitta Eubanks | 2/2/2007, 1:22 pm EST

Al has my vote just like the last time he ran for President of the USA, WON and got CHEATED OUT OF IT !!!!

B.

Garrett | 2/2/2007, 1:24 pm EST

Gore has finally evolved into the right candidate for the times. Time to run! Al (Mr. Gore): Don’t fear a second defeat; there’s too much at stake for the WORLD to allow personal ego to interfere. At the very least you can shape the debate(s). Few will fault you — unless you sit this one out. You will definitely win among Democrats, and — if you make war and peace (through political, economic and technological strength) your central focus — you may even get a heathy share of conservative republicans who have had enough hippocracy for a lifetime. Do a few surveys; I think you’ll WIN.

Jim G | 2/2/2007, 1:27 pm EST

I really believe that Al Gore is the most viable candidate of them all, for 2008. He’s a good man – honest and believable. He’s not afraid to take an unpopular position, in an effort to do the right thing.
Talk about timing . . . the world’s scientific community has just announced their findings, relative to global warming. What better candidate, than one who has been responsibly warning us about this, and other critical issues, such as an unjustifiable war in the middle east.
They say timing is everything . . . Well, Gore’s time is now!

C4 | 2/2/2007, 1:33 pm EST

Yes, Al Gore should run for president. He won six years ago but lost due to a flawed electoral system that said one man [person] one vote didn’t exist regardless of the American rhetoric. G. W. Bush has knowingly lied to not only the American people but the world to further the profits of mega-rich oil concerns. Isn’t it interesting that the oil costs have skyrocketed since the Iraq oil fields have come under US control ? The war in Iraq has more to do with oil being priced in Eurodollars than ousting Saddam and WMD’s. The next Bush blunder will be Iran if he is given the chance for the same reason. The American economy stands on the brink of collapse and unless a leader with a vision and a focus for the future comes to power very soon, the western and world economies stand on the brink of depression as has never been seen in the history of man on the planet Earth. He should run and maintain his stand on world enviremental, alternative energy sources [not ethanol] and social issues.

Danny | 2/2/2007, 2:01 pm EST

Al Gore is an idiot and won’t run because he knows he cannot win. He has not integrity and is only concerned about spreading lies about global warming among other things. I hope he does run so that he can lose again.

Kimberly S. | 2/2/2007, 2:13 pm EST

I would be in strong favor of a Gore! A Gore/Barack ticket would be an incredible oppty. for real, meaningful change.

Currently, I’m in favor of Barack, but if Clinton does become the front-runner, a Clinton/Barack ticket would be ideal and unprecedented in the face of history!

Should Gore enter the election, though, my vote would certainly go to him…

Carly | 2/2/2007, 2:24 pm EST

I really would like to see Gore run in 2008; however, will his interest in global warming hold as strong in office while trying to clean up after Bush’s mess? It’s a sticky situation, but if Gore decided to make the right decision, I would definitely vote for him.

Pat H | 2/2/2007, 2:38 pm EST

I am a registered Republican who voted for Bush in the first election I was old enough to vote in in 2004. If I knew what I know now about how disasterous the war in Iraq has been and continues to be, and if the Democratic party had nominated a decent candidate, I would not have voted for Bush. I would definitely vote for Gore if the Republican party decides nominate another moron. I am a supporter of the troops, like I know all Americans worth a damn are. Whether you are a Republican, Democrat or Independent, or even a Communist, we can all agree that save for a few bad apples (Abu Ghraib), we have some of our best and brightest fighting for our nation. I say the best way to honor them and their families is to get them the fuck out of dodge and let them finally go home. As long as we have George W. disciples in office, we are doomed to loose at least another 2,700 troops. So as an apoligetic Republican, I say RUN AL GORE, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, RUN!

GJK | 2/2/2007, 2:41 pm EST

Yes, Al Gore should without a doubt run for president in 2008. He is one of the only possible candidates that the democrats have with a legitimate shot. I am a huge Hillary fan, and will vote for her, but there are a lot of hard headed men out there that would not for some reason. Next, the Obama issue: Again, a great candidate, but there are many people out there that have idiotic ideas about blacks lacking enough brains to carry out a successful presidency. Ridiculous! It basically comes down to this; John Edwards and Al Gore are the only two candidates the have both great idea’s, and can fit the description of the traditional president of the United States. Edwards seems to lack the popular support needed, so Al Gore is the only one left. AL GORE 2008!!!

I want to see someone crush the Republican scumbags so badly they kill themselves, so if Al is the best man for the job, and he just might be, I say “Run, Al, Run!”

Poupak | 2/2/2007, 3:16 pm EST

Your article was right on. Gore is the most qualified Democratic candidate out there. I really hope he decides to run. If he had won instead of Bush in 2000, not only would WE have been better off, but the whole world would have been a much safer place.

be_a_mod | 2/2/2007, 3:22 pm EST

To: Republican to the death
“Al Gore should be castrated. As should any liberal democrat in this world… There is no such thing as ” global warming …”

WOW You are a total idiot. You embody everything that is wrong with our nation right now.

Michael Schultz | 2/2/2007, 3:41 pm EST

Al Gore is a pompous Blowhard from a party of pompous blowhards. He not only “invented” the internet it seems as if he’s even invented “global warming”…what a guy… I hope he runs because he will implode just as the rest of the Democratic party seems to be doing these days. I hope you’re women look good in burka’s because that’s what they’ll be wearing in 20 years if Gore gets elected. The Dems have to be able to do better than algore. Barak? Hilary? Biden? They all hate each other…its obvious already. Bring ‘em all on…losers all!

runsuerun | 2/2/2007, 4:10 pm EST

I voted for George Bush in ‘00 and absolutely despised Al Gore. Now I see the error of my ways. Clearly, Al Gore was the better choice of the two, and if the other Democratic option is Hillary Clinton (yikes!) I truly hope Al Gore runs. I don’t think any Republican can beat him, but then I don’t think any Republican can beat Hillary (yikes again!).

.B | 2/2/2007, 4:17 pm EST

I think it would be fantastic if Al Gore ran again. I agree that a Gore/Obama ticket would be a HUGE step in the right direction for this country. I only hope the American people can see the need for the change.

MichiD in the Rose City | 2/2/2007, 4:19 pm EST

Yes please! Al Gore already won before honestly, I really hope he does again. I love all that he has said and is doing about the environment and I think its due time we have a president that actually cares about the future and not just the present. PLEASE AL, RUN FOR PRESIDENT AGAIN!!! You had my vote once and you certainly have it again! Thanks.

Grimmjack | 2/2/2007, 4:54 pm EST

Algore is a good representative of the intellectually empty left wing…He was in the White house for eight years and accomplished nothing…the democrats talk about the poor yet never do anything to help them…Algore got to where he is because of his daddy…and you guys have the nerve to criticize Bushie because of his daddy’s help…

Get it through your heads…it does not matter who is elected under the current system…Kosovo…Bosnia…Som alia…Iraq Americans are a bunch of sheep led around by the same interrelated group of people…

Warren | 2/2/2007, 5:45 pm EST

Of course Al should run, in fact he’s already won, while GOPs can’t win a seat, Al can recoup that judicial defeat, by running, winning and cleaning up the earth, we all know now how much it’s worth. So, big Al Gore if you’re looking for a sign, look around and get off your big behind. You will see we need your lead, ask us our vote and we will give it, indeed.

Michael | 2/2/2007, 6:49 pm EST

Run Al, Run !! It’s time to win AGAIN !! And when you win, go after those conservative religious right-wingers, and make ‘em sorry they were ever born !! Go after those who finance the right-wing, such as Richard Mellon Scaife and the DeVos family, and put them in Guantanano !! Lead congress in impeaching Scalia & Thomas !! End the war on blacks, er… drugs !! Sign the Kyoto protocol !! Bring our boys home !! Save the middle class! Tax the rich, feed the poor !! Nationalize Oil !! Investigate Skull & Bones !! And make Peace !!!

Jules | 2/2/2007, 8:18 pm EST

Yes, yes, yes. Al, we need you now more than ever.

Jed Clampett | 2/2/2007, 8:50 pm EST

Sean, that was truly eloquent. I second your sentiment. He could at least raise alot of awareness to many important issues during his campaign.

Leslie | 2/2/2007, 9:43 pm EST

Just 5 of the many reasons Al Gore should run:

5. Butterflies (ballot variety) are extinct in Florida.

4. An Oscar is worth it’s weight in gold in California

3. Middle America has “come to Jesus” and realized he’s not a right-winger, afterall.

2. A Nobel beats a Nader every time.

1. Katherine Harris can’t stop him this time.

Isadora | 2/2/2007, 10:52 pm EST

YES, Al Gore Should most defenetly run for president. PLEASE!!!

Claire G. | 2/2/2007, 10:54 pm EST

I truly believe that the entire staff of the current White House administration are criminals who should be removed from office – I believe that they are a group of white collar Mafioso’s who will stop at nothing to grease the pockets of oil industry and defense contractor fat cats. They are responsible, but cannot account for, billions of dollars which have literally disappeared in Iraq. Iraq’s infrastructure has been destroyed – thousands and thousands of American soldiers and Iraqi citizens have died and thousands more have been tragically maimed. Thanks to GWB’s continued destabilization of the region, Exxon has twice reaped the largest corporate profits in history. Iraq’s oil contracts have recently been rewritten to benefit US oil companies. Are these controversial benefits a direct result of the fact that the Bush administration did not allow Congress to participate in writing America’s energy policy, which was covertly written by the Administration with the help of American oil corporations? GWB’s administration repeatedly lied to the world about the reasons for going to war despite the fact that a cursory search of the internet at that time easily revealed that he was lying about Iraq’s involvement in 9/11, that the removal of Saddam Hussein would result in catastrophic sectarian violence, and that intelligence and military agencies and officers, including General Powell, were forced by the administration to falsely attest to the world about going to war in Iraq. US citizens who questioned the war were vilified and accused of being unpatriotic. Countries that did not agree with the administration were threatened with economic sanctions if they did not provide troops for the war. Do we all remember “Liberty Fries?” The Halliburton Corp., which had previously violated a plethora of US laws regarding trade bans with hostile countries, human rights violations, etc., and most importantly, had awarded VP Cheney a retirement package reportedly worth more than $33.7 million, was awarded billions of taxpayer dollars in no-bid contracts in Iraq. After 9/11, the administration allowed private jets to fly bin Laden family members out of the country while the rest of America was grounded. More information is presently on the internet that says that the Administration is also lying about Iran’s nuclear capabilities. And, of course, the Bush administration literally stole the 2000 election from Mr. Gore. The administration outed a CIA operative, suppressed information about global warming, destroyed environmental protection legislation, installed, for a lifetime, Supreme Court judges who would support the Administration’s deliberate assaults on our civil rights and Constitutional protections which weakened not only our judicial system, but stripped first amendment rights of government employees to speak out about government malfeasance – the list is never-ending. The entire administration should be in jail and facing charges for crimes against humanity. Why are these absolute criminals, none of whom ever served in a war, still in office running the most powerful country in the world and sending our troops to their deaths? What is the problem, America?

In light of these grossly immoral and criminal actions, I would vote for a snake to replace the present administration. However, it is essential that candidates running against the GOP in the next election be of stellar character, since the GOP has repeatedly demonstrated that it will employ any Machiavellian tactic to falsely smear the opposition. The stakes, as demonstrated by Exxon’s corporate profits, are literally beyond comprehension. Al Gore has campaigned to save the planet, and I love that he has done that. However, it is my understanding that Mr. Gore’s family trust owns significant holdings in Occidental Petroleum – an oil company which, it is alleged, has violated environmental laws. If that is true, it is my opinion that his family’s trust must divest its oil industry holdings if he has presidential ambitions.

Al Gore will definitely get my vote should he chose to run for President!

Sean | 2/3/2007, 2:11 am EST

Gore/Obama is the necessary ticket.

Fletcher | 2/3/2007, 7:05 am EST

What the Republicans got away with in the election of 2000 was criminal. Nobody was held accountable. How can this be? the American people ask. Now look back at the disaster the past six years have been under Bush and Chaney. From 9-11 to Iraq to Katrina. From unbelievable incompetance to outright lying, where’s the accountability?
The soul of our country is deeply troubled once again. Justice can begin to be served when Al Gore takes the presidency in 2008. A majority of Americans feel strongly about this. The Republicans won’t admit it, but they are terrified of an Al Gore candidacy.

Rachie1127 | 2/3/2007, 10:18 am EST

I loved your article..and the Imagine concept (can you hear John Lennon in the background) would be a brilliant stroke for folks in the red states who are so disappointed. Go Al Go!

Edisdon829 | 2/3/2007, 4:45 pm EST

Dear Al: Loosen up your tie (and tone) and RUN, KIDDO, RUN! For all of us!

Kelley Guilds, FL | 2/3/2007, 4:48 pm EST

Gore/Feingold, Gore/Obama, Gore/Clinton (that’s an interesting one!), Gore/Richards, Gore/Edwards… take your pick, Mr. Gore. You are my pick. I know Jimmy Carter has been asking you for years to run; and how can we convince you if he couldn’t? All we can say is please, please please: now is your time and we really need you.

Matthew Dunne, NY | 2/3/2007, 4:58 pm EST

I don’t know if all things happen for a reason, but the events of your life these last seven years are remarkable. Almost as if life pushed you to edge to see if you would fall, but here you are today a nobel peace prize nominee, ready for a walk down the red-carpet at the academy awards, internationally loved and respected. It seems like you have been tailor-made (albeit by trial and fire) to step into the presidency in 2008. Please consider it!

Ron Polakowski | 2/3/2007, 5:02 pm EST

Can Rolling Stone or anyone forward these comments to Gore in some way? How is he going to know how much we support him, if he doesn’t see these? Oh yeah: PLEASE PLEASE RUN, AL, RUN! We need you, now more than ever!

Aurora | 2/3/2007, 5:40 pm EST

Gore would be letting us all down if he didn’t run. We need him- plain and simple.

DJD | 2/3/2007, 7:00 pm EST

The thought of Al Gore as our next President is positively Bone Chilling . . . should Al Gore become our next President, we might as well ride around like the Amish in a horse and buggy as the tax on gas and everything else will sky rocket. He’s a scary choice folks . . . beware what you ask for as you just might get it.

Bob Bauer | 2/3/2007, 10:05 pm EST

Al Gore is by far the best, and may be the only qualified candidate for President in the country. If he is not a candidate by the time of the Florida Democratic Primary, I intend to write his name in anyway. The world would have been far better off if he was allowed to assume the office he was rightfully elected to in the year 2000.

FamilyPOIRIER | 2/3/2007, 10:38 pm EST

It’s your time, Al. We can guarantee you 55 votes from our family alone! You’re the only one we really trust to turn the country around, help us regain our national dignity, and work collaboratively with scientists and citizens towards a true and abiding stewardship of the planet Earth. It’s your time, Al. Please don’t let us down…

A.Loy | 2/3/2007, 11:40 pm EST

Yes, he should run – if you’re prepared to lose the Al Gore you’ve come to know and love. Because that’s what it takes to win the presidency – losing your soul. Understand, I’d love for him to run, and he’d have my vote. But I honestly believe he’s easy-going now because he has nothing to lose. In my opinion, he’s doing more for the world as a media darling than he would be as President. You really think he’ll arrange more concerts for global warming, or do public speaking events? As PRESIDENT? The guy will be charged with running the country (and personally trying to save the planet), and an easy spirit is not what it takes to do it. Be realistic, folks. If he wins, it’ll be Al Gore in office – just not the Al Gore you see now.

Hayden | 2/4/2007, 1:05 am EST

Run, Al! Please…RUN.

Merri | 2/4/2007, 2:42 am EST

Please run, Al. Because of you and people like you, I am living a much “greener” life. I am already doing everything I can to lessen my carbon footprint on the earth. As President, you will be able to to so much more to encourage (demand?) more cooperation from not only regular people, but also from corporations in creating a truly sustainable economy. Please, for the sake of our grandchildren yet to be, RUN!!!

Uh...........no | 2/4/2007, 8:00 am EST

I guess if anyone was to vote for a Democrat candidate for President, Gore would probably be the way to go…It’s funny that most Democrats (probably on this funny comment page) voted for people, or would vote for people (flip-floppers like John Kerry, Hillary Clinton) who put us into war in the first place. Even though Gore is a horrible candidate in my mind, he would be the only candidate for a true liberal Democrat to vote for.

cheryl in FL | 2/4/2007, 8:50 am EST

The single most important political issue of our times is the environment. If the US does not change its current energy patterns and usage, we may have a world which will become unlivable within the lifetime of today’s infants. Should that happen, neither Democrat or Republican sentiments will matter, war will not matter, because all of us will be joined in the slow sickening death of our Earth. Florida is already experiencing the effects of global warming – hurricanes, tornadoes, and strange weather patterns. In a few generations, parts of FL could be underwater. Al Gore is the only possible candidate with the vision to effect change, and, even without political office, he has accomplished positive change, in environmental awareness, as well as policy. We need him as our President. The best way to disarm his most viable opponant, Hillary Clinton, is to ask her husband to run with him as VP. No matter what one my think of Bill Clinton personally, he’s the strongest international diplomat the US has had in recent times, and the US prospered under his guidance. I loved Clinton/Gore… Gore/Clinton would be the strongest move the US could make to undo the damages wrought by George Bush.

Mark | 2/4/2007, 9:27 am EST

It is indeed Al Gore’s time. He is exactly what the American people need… an honest, intelligent, passionate, human being that actually wants to make the world a better place to live in. America doesn’t need another polotician in 2008, it needs a leader. Al Gore has what it takes to lead america from the dark place that George Bush has taken us. It’s time we had someone to look up to and respect in the white house. I’m with you Al!

Linda Gehron , Esq. | 2/4/2007, 11:03 am EST

GORE – OBAMA in 2008!
NO politician deserves our vote, not Clinton, not McCain, not Edwards, not Giuliani or the like, if he or she voted for or supported action giving a clearly incompetent and dangerous “President” such as Bush/Cheney the authority to take us into war. The way such candidates now try to dance around this decision is an insult to our intelligence. I give John Kerry the utmost credit for admitting this horrible mistake and now dedicating himself to bringing about an end to this war.

Now, we must turn to leaders who spoke out against this war from the start and who will be more moderate and foward-looking in their leadership. During this dangerous time in our history, we need the combined intelligence, expertice, open-mindedness, creativity and ethical qualities offered by Gore and Obama!
Mr. Gore, please run!

KathyinBlacksburg | 2/4/2007, 2:25 pm EST

Run, Al, run. Not one of the candidates so far running or “exploring” running can come close.

It’s nauseating to watch the early posturing of these un-electables. Most (except Obama)don’t know the meaning of the word leadership, but only followership. During every darkest hour these past few years, you’ve provided the message(s), the speeches (on the war, Constitiutional rights, national security, and the environment), the eloquence, to keep us focused. You courageously endorsed Howard Dean, even as the clown-alternatives back then were savaging and demolishing him for his courage. And as the so-called MSM was not just dissing you, but shoving you to the ground, you fought back till they had to pay attention.

None of the currently running have shown leadership. You have. And you’ve shown you can win. Let’s win again with a wider margin. So rest up, get on that exercise routine for stamina (if you haven’t already), and above all, don’t wait too long.

Jim Otterstrom | 2/4/2007, 8:22 pm EST

Al Gore is the only person on the horizon who could get me to vote for a mainstream party candidate.

Rosemary | 2/4/2007, 8:54 pm EST

You’ve GOT to run Al. I will shout hurrah to the rooftops if you declare your candidacy. What the world needs now is a leader who will unit it in the universal battle against global warming, not war.

penn state danny | 2/5/2007, 9:56 am EST

Gore should run with Wes Clark.

I am sorry that I voted for W in 2000. If you run, you have my full support. Your canidacy would be a great way to cleanse MY conscience.

Lenore Barnett | 2/5/2007, 11:29 am EST

I’m another impassioned “Please, please run” blogger. Al, if you run I will scrape up more money than I ever have before to send to your campaign.

Markando | 2/5/2007, 2:55 pm EST

If Al runs, he’s also running on his past, including his past campaign mistakes. His integrity would be in question again. Gore for President = Any Republican winning easily.

Nathan in Florida | 2/5/2007, 4:30 pm EST

In my own small way, I’ve put a lot of time and energy into trying to make things better in this world. It’s easy to get discouraged. If Al Gore runs and puts together a good campaign, it will give me hope like nothing else could. I would allow myself to become optimistic about the future of the world. I would feel hope.

Jimmy Carter was our country’s last president of conscience, but he lacked political and technical acumen. Al Gore has both the conscience and the skill to lead America and the world through difficult times.

TS | 2/5/2007, 4:40 pm EST

I was debating over which Democrat I was going to back this time, but I would give up Hillary and Obama for Al Gore in a second.

Please, pleeease let him run. We messed up the last 8 years; let’s do something to fix that.

Kincaid Kilbuck | 2/5/2007, 6:40 pm EST

Hey Al, go for it again. The “Reprobates’” ox needs to be Gored. Besides, you’ve already one once before and now you’re no bore.
For a running mate, pick my pal Vidal.
Gore Vidal ‘08……sounds great!

Anonymous | 2/5/2007, 7:37 pm EST

Experience and foresight in one package….PLEASE RUN AL!

Pamela Forrest | 2/5/2007, 7:57 pm EST

Al Gore is by far the best man for the job in 2008. He is a man of great integrity and resolve, and he already won once in 2000. He opposed the war in Iraq from the start, and would be able to get us out of there with diplomacy. He could lead this country in finally, addressing the issue of GLOBAL WARMING, along with other issues this country is facing. I think he and Barack Obama would be an excellent team! Barack Obama is a wonderful and charismatic man, with a brilliant future as a leader. Together they could lead this country back to the standard of excellence that the constitution demands. I think this is a winning team that could inspire people to make a personal difference in the world.

Edman | 2/5/2007, 10:55 pm EST

I think something unusual will have to happen for Al Gore to have a shot at the Presidency in 2008, even though I agree that he is by far the most qualified person in the country to be President. If he simply throws his hat into the ring after denying so many times that he would run, the mainstream media, which attacked his character relentlessly with outright lies and distortions, will ridicule him incessantly and will revive the best lies of 2000, he invented the internet, etc.

BlueTexan | 2/6/2007, 4:00 am EST

I don’t dare hope, but I often pray that Al Gore will run in 2008. However, he can only win if he stays true to himself and does not let his “professional consultants” run the campaign for him.
It hardly seems fair to expect Mr. and Mrs. Gore to put themselves through the electoral crucible once again, but they are exactly what this country needs. His win alone might go a long way towards re-establishing the USA’s credibility with our international neighbors. But whoever runs, will need to be able to put the nation’s well-being ahead of their concern for their political legacy. After all, for the most part, they will be stuck cleaning up the seemingly infinite messes of the current administration. That will not leave much opportunity to pursue a personal vision. What we need is an Extreme Makeover – The White House edition…and I believe that Al Gore has the commitmant and the courage for the job.
RUN AL, RUN!

Stella Kniffin | 2/6/2007, 8:39 am EST

Mr.Gore should absolutly run and not
back down from a recount he’s entitled to -just think of all the deception that would have been brought out
- DEAD PEOPLE VOTES-AND ALL THE LIVES THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN SAVED FROM THE –”BUSH WAR” HE’S OUT TO START WAR WITH EVERYBODY NOW-AND HURT THE ELDERLY MEDICARE THEY DESPERATELY NEED AND SOCIAL SECURITY
THE MIND OF A BOTTOM OF A BEER CAN DICTATOR

Nancianne | 2/6/2007, 8:54 am EST

Yes, Al Gore should run. Hillary Clinton is disingenuous, dishonest and a panderer. Al is authentic, smart and without baggage. I will never vote for Hillary and I am a registered Democrat. However a Gore/Richardson ticket would be a electoral college win.

dph357 | 2/6/2007, 9:27 am EST

Gore-Obama 08′ = UNBEATABLE!

kiersten | 2/6/2007, 9:58 am EST

No candidate is perfect but considering what we’ve endured in the last eight years I can not imagine a candidate better suited to address the morass of problems the previous administration has burdened us with. I pray that Mr. Gore runs. I would work tirelessly on his campaign.

George | 2/6/2007, 10:15 am EST

What would Mr. Gore’s candidacy mean to the climate crisis as a political issue?

Would the momentum toward positive change be compromised?

Would neocons seize the opportunity to label environmentalism a lefty issue? Would the chance be lost to make environmental protection and greater respect for the natural world a politically neutral topic?

Or,

would this be the opportunity many of us have been waiting for — for a real adult to take charge of implementing the American agenda in accordance with our values and with consideration for our place as global citizens?

In this time of risk mitigation I see the risks considerably outweighed by the rewards.

Please Mr. Gore, for the sake of our children and those who cannot speak for themselves – please RUN for President of the United States of America.

We need your leadership.

Now, more than ever.

Please be our President.

mike torretti | 2/6/2007, 11:43 am EST

i never thought id say this as a republican but please run… had we had your lock box for social security surplus, quick and decisive action to find osama in pakisatan/afghanistan, and not invaded iraq i wonder what kind of prosperity and good will this country would be spreading instead of turmoil and hatred. we need a leader, we need you!

MH | 2/6/2007, 12:30 pm EST

I hope America is as fed up with Georgie boy and the Reps as I am. So, RUN AL, RUN! Your country and the planet need you more than ever! It would be a shame, indeed almost unpatriotic not to run this time! Kick out all that infamous scum out of the White House!

Eh | 2/6/2007, 12:49 pm EST

I’m not convinced.

Gore refused to fight in 2000 when he won the election and popular vote together: that makes it his fault that we’re here today. So while there’s no question that he would make a good president, has he learned his lesson from 2000? Dunno. Hard to say.

David | 2/6/2007, 1:04 pm EST

Al Gore is just Bill Clinton rehased. Gore, like most democrats, panders to whomever will listen to him, i.e. he doesn’t stand for anything (except of course that whole “I invented the Internet” thing).

greta reed | 2/6/2007, 1:52 pm EST

Peggy | 2/6/2007, 8:19 pm EST

Another vote for GORE!! It would be a way to redress one of the greatest crimes of the century, one that resulted in needless war and financial chaos in our country.

Two other observations–1. the republicans who have commented on this forum are generally wildly inarticulate and venal–perhaps this is why they adore Bush, and 2. Yes, Frank Luntz, you are a slimy GOP operative–very good self-assessment.

C Co... aka I Smell Propaganda | 2/6/2007, 8:55 pm EST

It’s amazing how time change our perceptions of people. Once a dull, condesending, prick, Gore has become an intelligent strong leader.

Art Shell used to be a “terrible game manager”, but was re-hired by the Raiders for his “unique style.” Shockingly he was the same terrible coach as before. And Al is still a condesening prick, stealing old ideas from other people to sound intelligent.

Pretty soon we’ll be calling Stalin a misunderstood genius who made a couple of bad choices.

I HOPE GOOGLE PICKS THIS UP AND I HOPE AL GORE IS READING THIS. AL, RUN FOR PRESIDENT IN 2008. YOU OWE IT TO YOUR COUNTRY! IT THE ROLE YOU WERE BORN FOR. THERE IS NO BETTER TIME THAN NOW. WE NEED AL GORE IN OFFICE ASAP!!!!

jskjsk | 2/7/2007, 2:02 pm EST

Al Gore
for eight
more!

Mark | 2/7/2007, 3:08 pm EST

Gore / Obama.

That would not only win the election. It would be a win for the country, the world, the future.

And if he does run…. Al! Be yourself!!!!!!! Don’t start pretending to be something you’re not. The real you is what everyone will want – even the republicans.

F. White | 2/7/2007, 3:23 pm EST

Hell yes he should run!

Sean O | 2/7/2007, 4:06 pm EST

It really is sad to read all the republican posts. we all have a tendency to lean in the direction of our party lines but come on. if my party was headed by w. and his cabinet over the last 8 years i would be embarassed. after bringing kids to war for no good reason, after scandal after scandal with my cabinet, nominations for unqualified individuals to the countries highest posts, not being able to complete a full sentence without sounding like a moron, ignoring true problems at home (katrina) throwing billions and billions of tax payers money into a bottomless pit (iraq), the list goes on and on, its just very sad and embarassing that the religious right and our southern and midwest states who care more about who is marrying who then issues that really matter are the majority and will ultimately destroy this country. we need to forget the last 8 years as soon as possible and get that ignorant wannabe cowboy who can’t finish a sentence let alone lead a country out of office and we need someone with the intelligence, passion and honesty to get this country back on track. it will be a shame if its not al gore.

Grubbs | 2/7/2007, 5:41 pm EST

Why do we need to run Al Gore for president in 2008? Because nobody who voted to invade Iraq in ‘02 (knowing better but cravenly caving) can possibly win. Remember, we tried running a pair of those chickensh*ts in ‘04, and it didn’t work. So let’s try someone who spoke out boldly against that damnfoolishness from the very start.

cadbury | 2/7/2007, 5:49 pm EST

Dream Ticket: Gore-Obama in 2008!

Patriot to patriot | 2/7/2007, 11:47 pm EST

Dear Mr. Gore;
You owe it to the American people to run in 2008 and win. We elected you in 2000 and we would have marched on Washington in support of you if you would not concede. The Republicans acted illegally and antidemocratically, it’s unbelievable they’ve gotten away with so much!
Because of what happened then, the last six years have been a disaster. You know this better than anybody. That is why we need you. I hope you have this fight in you because America needs justice for what has happened since November 2000. Don’t let us down!

Mimi | 2/8/2007, 1:17 am EST

The world needs a Gore presidency!

Gore/Obama is THE winning ticket!

J. Schader | 2/8/2007, 1:42 am EST

Well I voted for Gore the first time and I would certainly vote for him again.

teanaps | 2/8/2007, 12:03 pm EST

Run, indeed, Al Gore! Hillary would be a disaster and I am a female interested in the best candidate for President; not whether or not that candidate happens to be a woman. We would be a better nation if Al Gore won in 2008.

McNicholas | 2/8/2007, 1:46 pm EST

Gore would win if he got full support from the Democratic party.
If Hillary Clinton ran as VP with him I think it would be the best of both worlds. No other Democratic team would obtain more votes than Gore / Clinton!

Catherine | 2/8/2007, 2:49 pm EST

I second the comments posted by Linda Gehron, Esq. on 2/4– well said.

Peter | 2/8/2007, 5:49 pm EST

Yes, Al Gore would likely make a great president of the US. The world outside of your country wonders how you were ever blind and deaf enough to have elected govenor Bush in the first place. Al Gore, in my opinion, is the top potential president. But Obama, Edwards, Clinton, and even McCain will all be a major improvement from this foolish administration. Is it 2008 yet?

Michael E. | 2/8/2007, 11:44 pm EST

i think Gore would make a great candidate in the primary. He certainly has the resources to compete with the current democratic candidates, but in a head-to-head with John McCain, I don’t know if he’d be able to pull it out. Still I’d love to see him run in ‘08.. he’d stack up well in the primary and who knows where else.

East Tenn. Steve | 2/9/2007, 12:04 am EST

There is no doubt in my mind that Al Gore, Jr. should run. Who in the hell are we kidding? Gore should have been the President beginning in 2001 instead of the fiasco that the Supreme Court forced on us totally ignoring all of the voter disenfranchising that went on not to mention the popular vote. We have needed election reform in a major way for years, the 2000 election just re-emphasized that need with many exclamation points.

The fact remains that if Gore had been elected and put in the White House as he should have been we would not have had all of the American lives lost in a war that should have never started in Iraq to begin with. It is time to get over all of the lies, deception and misinformation of the last several years of the Bush administration and no one is better suited to do that for us and our country than Al Gore. Most of his detractors are not qualified to carry his jock anyway!

RUN AL, RUN please for the sake of us all!

Renee' Baumgartner | 2/9/2007, 1:09 am EST

YES! YES! Al Gore – please run!!
I just heard tonight on the radio about the possibility of Gore running and I screamed with excitement!!

I was going to vote for Obama, and Gore/Obama sounds great to me! Maybe we can finally get election reform taken care of while we are cleaning up the environment. I am so excited. I am voting for Gore if he runs.

inigo rose | 2/9/2007, 11:44 am EST

is there any other real choice?
some other hippocrit murderer lier like a bush or a clinton?
you’d have to be an idiot or a short sighted greedy oil invested creep to vote for anyone else.
that is the bottom line.
wake up america and do the right thing

Ethan | 2/9/2007, 12:32 pm EST

There may not be a smarter, more balanced candidate in the mix. I voted for him 8 years ago and I would vote for him again today. He is a man with a world vision and is best suited to repair years of damage done to the US reputation. Most importantly, he is the best candidate to begin a global campaign to better our lives and the lives of our children — here and across the planet.

“To waste, to destroy, our natural resources, to skin and exhaust the land instead of using it so as to increase its usefulness, will result in undermining in the days of our children the very prosperity which we ought by right to hand down to them.”

— Theodore Roosevelt

SurfRiderHawaii | 2/9/2007, 1:06 pm EST

Please Al, run Al run!

Lenny | 2/9/2007, 2:58 pm EST

Al Gore would be my number one choice for president in ‘08. No question about it.

Kate | 2/9/2007, 6:20 pm EST

In my oppinion, Al Gore’s got a pretty damn good chance of winning if he runs.

Dr. Ralph | 2/9/2007, 8:32 pm EST

Honestly, and against my better judgement, I will say that Al could have been a better president than W. When he was a lowly Senator here in Tennessee, he was not on the anti-gun bandwagon, he was pro-life, and his eco-friendly stance was not nearly so radical. Washington changes people. If he would be true to himself and his own personal feelings instead of those of the party he could be a true leader, with an intellect to match. Come on Albert, be one with your Carthage roots and make your own platform. It might surprise you how you could combine red and blue and end up on top of the world. Ashamed to admit it, but W’s mind cannot compete with yours but get off the global warming train. You can make changes after you get elected.

Jed Clampett | 2/9/2007, 10:13 pm EST

How is his ‘eco-friendly’ stance radical?

Shannon | 2/10/2007, 2:34 am EST

This would be a dream come true. He has been the right guy all along, now is his true time to shine! RUN AL, RUN! We can’t believe without you!

Geddy | 2/10/2007, 6:30 am EST

“David”, did you really say Gore doesn’t stand for anything? What a bone headed comment. Gore is the only candidate who has any chance of being a good President. After all, he really is the President to many of us.

Dr. Ralph | 2/10/2007, 11:36 am EST

I would say banning the internal combustion engine is radical to say the least. Even the idea that we can control mother nature is radical. The Earth has wiped out millions of life forms with ice ages but I have not noticed any major kills caused by heat, so why is this now such a problem? Answer: It isn’t. It’s just another form of control over the peasants.

Pete | 2/10/2007, 2:16 pm EST

Dr. Ralph, what is so hard to believe that changing the chemical makeup of the atmosphere changes the climate? It is common sense, not to mention supported by nearly the entire scientific community world-wide. The idea that there is a debate in the scientific community is a myth that is the result of a very expensive propaganda campaign paid for almost entirely by a single company (which one? I’ll give you a hint, the most profitable public company in history).
And yes, the earth has wiped out many lifeforms in previous ice ages. Study the science. The problem isn’t that people will become extinct. The problem is that there is likely to be natural catastrophes that make Katrina look small. The human cost would be much, much more significant in the developing world than it would be in the US though. That is what pisses the rest of the world off so much, since we are the largest contributor to the problem.
I think that is significant enough for us to do something about. It isn’t “radical”, it is radical to deny this problem.

Cara | 2/11/2007, 1:26 am EST

RUN AL, RUN

Dan O'Donnell | 2/11/2007, 9:49 am EST

Run AL RUN! I was sorely disappointed he did not run last time. I MUCH prefer Al Gore to John Kerry, MUCH. Al Gore appears by all measures to actually care about our environment. What other national politician has made the environment a priority? No other that I can think of. Pitiful. Go Al GO! Please run, and blow the others RIGHT OFF THE CHARTS!
Daniel O’Donnell

mel | 2/11/2007, 11:07 am EST

YES!YES!YES! Who wouldn’t vote for a Gore/Clinton ticket? It worked well before.

If it’s nice do it twice.

TheMadKing | 2/11/2007, 11:41 am EST

Question: Why is the Global Warming movement not led by some eminent Carl Sagan or Stephen Hawkings-like scientist with an impeccable rep, instead of an opportunistic political hack who claims he invented the Internet and was the inspiration for Love Story? Or who stated in Robert Duvall-like fashion, “I love the smell of tobacco in the morning”?
This we find out after his tearful story of his sister dying from cacer? Is there any line of crap you Gore fans won’t swallow?

backtothefuture | 2/11/2007, 4:45 pm EST

What the hell are these ignorant FAUX “News” channel watchers doing on a Rolling Stone blog? Al Gore is the most qualified person in the country to be president. It w ould be a better world today if he were president. Thousands of Americans and at least tens of thousands of Iraqis would still be a live today. People, stop listening to liars like Rush Limbacaugh and Bill O LIE LEE and wake the hell up.
Democrats do have the edge to win in 08 anyway because the Repugnantones have squandered every ounce of their credibility. Katrina proved it was incompetance and carelessness that brought us Iraq and 9-11. There is no reconciling that with American voters.

Aris | 2/13/2007, 1:43 pm EST

Of course Gore should run. It’s not just his major contributions on the problem of Global Warming it’s also his independence and prescience on the Iraq war which makes him so attractive. It’s also because he is familiar with the array of domestic problems (health care, social security, medicare, the budget deficit etc) as well as Defense and the military (he was one of the truly knowledgeable senators on the arcane issues of national defense). As President he would have the immediate gravitas to restore America’s image in the world. If he said yes I would open my wallett and get ready to work for him. With Hillary I would grit my teeth but neither contribute nor work on her behalf. She would be a disastrous choice.

Cass | 2/13/2007, 4:19 pm EST

I’ve had my Gore/Obama for 2008 bumper sticker on my car for months now and get a lot a nods and thumbs up. What an absolute dream ticket for changing the world.

Tom Joad | 2/14/2007, 12:01 am EST

ABSOLUTELY, YES, AL SHOULD RUN!

IF HE DOES, I WILL WORK RELENTLESSLY TO HELP GET HIM ELECTED.

THE PLANET NEEDS AL GORE. PERIOD.

European | 2/14/2007, 5:55 am EST

YES, RUN, PLEASE, RUN ! If we could help, we will. AL brings “I care” to politics and planetary leadership Earth desperately needs.
GORE-CLINTON may be the strongest ticket ever.

Robert M. Lipshutz | 2/14/2007, 3:45 pm EST

If the Al Gore I saw in “An Inconvenient Truth” and on “Saturday Night Live” runs, absolutely! But if Orange Man from the 2000 campaign runs, never! He got Iraq right–both times. He has been out in front on the environment, social justice and on defense issues. If he finally learns to trust himself and run as himself, he will win.

Honest Al | 2/14/2007, 4:56 pm EST

Gore was elected in 2000 (Florida) and Kerry won in 2004 (Ohio.) The criminals who have cheated the will of American voters have not yet had their day of reckoning. We will find these crooks and put them in jail. They will pay for the havok they have put on our country and the world. Patriotic Americans will not forget this. It’s time the Democrats stopped underestimating the disgust the American people feel toward everything that has happened since 2001. Al Gore better run and start kicking some ass. He is wise to stay out of the fray and announce his candidacy later this year too. When he wins it will feel tantamount to a revolution, not merely a changing of the guard. I’m sure the Republicans are terrified of this. Let’s get rocking!

Jess | 2/15/2007, 12:26 pm EST

YES! In making “An Inconvenient Truth”, Gore has made himself a candidate of the people rather than the democaratic party–something this nation has needed for a long time.

Mary R | 2/15/2007, 2:43 pm EST

I believe Al Gore is our only hope to make America and the planet right again. I have no interest in any other candidates except Al Gore.

Jon | 2/15/2007, 8:20 pm EST

I am not american. But if I could vote in the next election, I would do it for Al Gore. If he were to be elected, not just America, but the whole world would greatly benefir. Please, Mr. Gore, RUN FOR THE PRESIDENCY!

Angela | 2/15/2007, 9:38 pm EST

Every long-term, committed, Democrat I know does NOT want to vote for Hillary. They are disgusted with the prospect of her candidacy, let alone a possible presidency. PLEASE RUN FOR PRESIDENT, MR. GORE!! We need a president with vision and depth, not a shrill, ambitious candidate of highly questionable integrity and intentions such as Hillary Clinton. GORE/OBAMA is a sure win. An Obama vice-presidency will give him 8 years to “grow” in the job and be an extremely viable candidate in 2016!! PLEASE RUN, MR. GORE!! So many of us are waiting to vote for you!!

fyrewede | 2/16/2007, 12:45 pm EST

I’m making up my Gore/Obama ‘08 bumper sticker as we speak!

RUN, AL, RUN!

Criminey Jicket | 2/16/2007, 4:00 pm EST

If Al Gore does run again they better get some international election monitors spread all over the country. We need to turn Amerika back into a democracy not the hypocrisy it has become. I hope he does run, I don’t see any other “leaders” in the congress or running for president. Let’s help Al Gore win in 08.

Logan A | 2/16/2007, 4:23 pm EST

Gore should run in 08. i think its pretty obvious that he is a popular choice with many people backing him. Besides that, who else could anyone honestly say has the leadership abilities of him…certainly not Hilary CLinton, or Barack Obama. Another thing on Gore’s side – publicity. His name is even more popular now than in 2000 due to his break through into film making. he’s really turned some heads.

davidz. | 2/16/2007, 11:04 pm EST

yes.

Ed | 2/17/2007, 11:07 pm EST

Gore should run. He won in 2000, so why not again, especially since no Republicans are worth one vote.

Sean in Paly | 2/18/2007, 7:56 pm EST

Gore is not the answer. Come on, people. We need to jettison the past! Can we please move beyond this tired crop of Boomers once and for all?! Haven’t they done enough damage? Can we please move past having someone in the White House who is either a Bush or a Clinton or directly tied to either of them? Isn’t 20 years enough for any of you? You want 28? Let’s move forward! Obama is our best hope. Al, do us all a favor and stay in the movie business.

Lisa | 2/19/2007, 9:51 am EST

Gore/Obama gets my vote in ‘08!!

Jeffrey | 2/19/2007, 8:09 pm EST

Gore, we need you to run for president! You have seemed to re-shape your image and platform, and it is more powerful. As global warming becomes more of an issue, I believe that you are the right person for the presidency, to lead our country towards to right direction. Please help our nation, and it’s prestige too – it has been badly damaged by the Bush administration. There are so many problems in the world right now, I would say much worse than before, we need your help!

Texans for Gore!

Tennessee Grandma | 2/20/2007, 12:16 am EST

Al is the best person for the job of President. I feel that he genuinely loves our country. For my grandchildren’s sake I hope he runs and wins in 2008.

LucyVanPelt | 2/20/2007, 2:47 pm EST

Al Gore is the only candidate I can see myself voting for with a clean conscience. I voted for him the last time he ran, and I can’t help but wonder how many people are looking back now and kicking themselves for not doing the same just b/c he didn’t seem like the life of the party. After 8 years with a president who is better suited to man the grill at a backyard BBQ, I hope people realize the mistake they made in choosing Bush over Gore.

As for the other candidates, Obama is a great talker, but where’s the substance? I was very impressed with him early on, but he never seems to actually state his position on anything. And he has very little experience. Edwards isn’t bad – probably my second choice in candidates at this point, but does he have what it takes to beat McCain or Giuliani? I’m not so sure.

As for Hillary, I think she is far too devisive to provide the leadership this country needs to get us through the difficult times that lie ahead as we deal with the fallout from Iraq (and, if Bush has his way, Iran too).

By contrast, Al Gore is intelligent, pragmatic and has the integrity and experience our country needs in a leader. If he doesn’t run, I (and a lot of other voters) will once again have to make the tough decision of voting for the lesser of two evils, or skipping the polls entirerly. With so much at stake, I hope the Democratic leadership realizes that not just ANY Democratic candidate will do, and the US stands to lose entirely too much if voters stay home on election day.

Anonymous | 2/21/2007, 5:14 pm EST

Sure, Gore should run if he wants to. I think he has more to say on critical issues than anybody else. Who do we have, Mrs. Strident Clinton, Mr. Charisma and not much else Obama, Mr. Is He the Only One Who Knows He Ain’t Gonna Win Biden, and some leftovers from 2004.

Samir Doshi | 2/22/2007, 2:32 pm EST

I’d love to see Al Gore run. He’s got all the qualifications and the ability to be the next President.

meothemusician | 2/23/2007, 4:41 pm EST

Yes he should run. Heck he’s been my president since 2000. I still don’t acknowledge W, how can you trust a man with his strategery?

Gore/Obama for '08! | 2/23/2007, 7:07 pm EST

This ticket will be unstoppable!

Aussie | 2/25/2007, 2:02 am EST

I think the world will begin to respect America again with Gore in the top seat. Bush has done nothing for America internationally.

Bob | 2/25/2007, 11:52 am EST

Al Gore is runing a campaign that is truly new and refreshing. Not just by saying that global warming is an important issue but by actually doing something about it. He walks the walk. No other candidate does. No other candidate has actually taken matters into their own hands, gotten down in the trenches and done something so powerful to effect change. The others all talk about it and make promises. Gore rolls up his sleves and dos the work. What more could anyone ask for. As a candidate he may well show that ethical campaigning works by campaigning on his own accomplishments and not the slander of others.
When Bush asked America who they would rather have a beer with, America should have had a beer George and left it at that. America should have voted more seriously for Al Gore. He may have been boring but he was sober.
I believe he will prove to be the greatest president of all times.
The Iraq war is a horrible thing, but it is only a matter of man’s inhumanity to man. When it is over and the numbers of slaughtered civilians are counted, we will begin the pricess of healing. The death toll from this war and from terrorism will pale in comparison to the death toll from global warming if the later is left unchecked. When the numbers from global warming are in, there may not be anyone left to count them.
WE NEED A PRESIDENT WHO WILL END THE WAR IN IRAQ AND WORK TO RESOLVE THE GLOBAL WARMING ISSUE.
That man is clearly Al Gore.

Vas | 2/25/2007, 8:35 pm EST

Please Run Gore, Please Run!

freq flag | 2/26/2007, 1:12 am EST

Hell, I’d vote for *Tipper* Gore, compared to the mess we’ve had to put up with for the last six years.

Of course, one of the biggest initial problems will be the immediate revival of media obsession with their corn-fed narratives of “Earth tones,” “invented the internet,” “Wooden/Boring Al.”

However, I’ve got a decent feeling that it’ll all grow tired, phony, and irrelevant as the ‘08 campaign progresses.

OTOH, I could definitely live with Richardson.

Purple Blatherskite | 2/26/2007, 2:12 am EST

“Imagine…”

That slogan would just about do it on its own.

Gore will almost certainly run, and win.

Dave | 2/26/2007, 12:37 pm EST

YES!! Run Gore, run!

Chris R | 2/26/2007, 2:24 pm EST

Message to Mr. Albert Gore, V.P.:

Dear Mr. Gore:

Please think seriously about serving your country that needs you. What is in the past is past, learn from it and move forward.

It is about timing as you know and
the majority of the people in this country are now ready to recieve a qualified, experienced candidate for office of The President of The United States.

In this country we need to set a new course that will lead us out of the tunnel of darkness and dispair and into the light of hope for our future.

Thank you,

Chris R.

Jim D | 2/26/2007, 5:29 pm EST

There’s only one person that can undo all the damage that Goerge WMD Bush has done to the United States and the rest of the world.

Gore for four.

Alice | 2/26/2007, 9:21 pm EST

Gore is my man. I would love the opportunity to vote for him again. I think that all in all, he is the most qualified of all the candidates. Our country needs him to get us out of the mess(es) that Bush-Cheney have created.

ashley | 2/28/2007, 2:07 am EST

Mr.Gore, this country needs you. Please don’t let it down. Repair the damage in Iraq and team up with another candidate for vice pres like Obama. Show America what we should have been like without all the Bush-Iraq-Saddam nonsense and why you should be president.

Patriot to Patriot! Well said.

American dreamer | 2/28/2007, 3:40 pm EST

The election process in this country has become a big joke. It’s much too long and the candidates have to raise money like whores non stop. Al Gore would make a great president, but it’s too early for him to campaign. We still have Bush as our president until January 2009! and he’s a total disaster! We need to fight his rotten policies now.
I hope Al Gore will be our next president and clean up our corrupt system that has left so many people struggling and families poor with little hope. College is too expensive, health care too, who can afford to buy a house? It goes on and on and I haven’t even mentioned the debacle in Iraq. We need a smart and good man as our leader, who will work with other smart leaders here and abroad to help solve our problems. Al Gore can be a new kind of American revolutionary if he’s up to it. I think he will be. Americans deserve much better than what they’ve had the past few years. What a shame…

Friend Flintstone | 2/28/2007, 6:44 pm EST

The Gore team will have to brace themselves for manic evil mudslinging and lies from the right wing that will make the Swift boating of John Kerry smell like roses. The Republicans are scared shitless of Al Gore because of what he knows and what he could do. Well that’s too bad because if there’s any justice in this world the people will recognize what’s true and what’s not. It’s time for a new kind of campaign that puts the Rush Limbaughs, and the Fox news team to shame. The victims and families of 9/11, Katrina and Iraq have had enough!!!!!
You go Gore, you go!!!!!! Do it your way and we wil help you and America win this.

Angel | 2/28/2007, 7:05 pm EST

Let’s not forget Gores biggest enemy is still in the White house and more than anyone else George W Bush doesn’t want Al Gore to be the next president and he’d probably like to destroy him any way he can (with uncle Dick Chaney’s help). He most likely has spies on him 24/7. It’s not going to be easy. Gore has to play his cards super close to his vest, but he will win this game. Bush is going to go down in history as our worst president ever, whil Al Gore might become one of our best.

Frank | 2/28/2007, 7:44 pm EST

We need to move forward, not backward. The Clinton/Bush cabal has been tied to the White House since Papa GB became Veep in 1980. That’s more than a quarter of a century. I haven’t decide who I’m going to vote for yet, but I do know Hillary and Al ARE NOT on the list of candidates I’m considering.

Laurel O'B | 3/2/2007, 2:13 am EST

GORE/OBAMA…both opposed Iraq war when neither had chance to vote against it. Obama’s glowing charisma will make up for any doubts about Gore’s…Gore’s extensive expertise will most certainly make up for Obama’s lack thereof. Obama’s freshness and unfettered record keeps the people engaged and hopeful. Plus….our civilization gets a SHOT IN HELL at SURVIVAL!!! Without a doubt, most harmonious choice for Dem party… Gore/Obama 2008…GOBAMA!!

I believe Al Gore is the only hope the dems have in stopping this out of touch, old, arrogant, and backward leadership most ordinary Americans will have to suffer with for at least 2 more agonizing years. He would be a breath of fresh air on Pennsylvania ave. And to most of the world. From my probing of fellow dems and undecideds, I find them split on the candidates (democrats ) that have announced their running for prez.I believe Gore would promote issues like the envoirment, health care cost, stem cell research, rising fuel cost,(again on the rise)education,Fair labor wages, and any other issue that was put on the far far back burner…because most of congress listened to Gwb talk his texas talk on stamping out terrorists world wide.Problem is……. he bred thousands more than he weeded out. And I am sure many are sneaking across our
northren, and especially our southren borders, on a daily basis.I think Mr. Gore would take America out of regressive and back to progressive.Let’s get
“BACK TO THE FUTURE” AMERICA….KICK BIFF’S ASS…RUN AL RUN!!!

C.Love.TN | 3/4/2007, 11:36 pm EST

Al Gore has the oppertunity to change the US for the good. I fear the outcome of the US if either of the two “front running” Dem. candidates win the general election. I would be forced to vote for someone else soley on ability rather than race or sex. Then I would be hard pressed to vote for any Rep. other than John McCain and if he were to loose to RG then my vote is screwed.

Mark | 3/5/2007, 11:01 pm EST

There’s no question that if Gore would run, he would be hard to beat. But if anyone could lose this thing, it would be Gore. I am a great admirer of gore, however he never seems to be able to communicate his real self to the American people. Do you see the Oscars? Gore was his same old stiff, nervous self. Not the relaxed Gore of Inconvenient Truth.

If Gore can pull this off, he should pick Wesley Clark as his running mate. Clark is the one American with military experience who the world will still listen to. Gore domestically and Clark internationally. Now there’s the ticket!!

Kanye | 3/6/2007, 10:19 am EST

Al Gore buys carbon offsets as forgiveness for his sin of producing too much carbon dioxide, or something like that. BUT who does he buy these offsets from? According to a story published at Ecotality by Bill Hobbs, he buys them from Generation Investment Management, a company he co-founded, and serves as chairman.

Gore helped found Generation Investment Management, through which he and others pay for offsets. The firm invests the money in solar, wind and other projects that reduce energy consumption around the globe…
As co-founder and chairman of the firm … he “buys” his “carbon offsets” from himself, through a transaction designed to boost his own investments and return a profit to himself. To be blunt, Gore doesn’t buy “carbon offsets” through Generation Investment Management – he buys stocks.

And it is not clear at all that Gore’s stock purchases – excuse me, “carbon offsets” purchases – actually help reduce the use of carbon-based energy at all, while the gas lanterns and other carbon-based energy burners at his house continue to burn carbon-based fuels and pump carbon emissions – a/k/a/ “greenhouse gases” – into the atmosphere.

I wrote previously that Gore has decided to try and re-frame global warming as a “moral issue”, and the irony of the neo-moralists™ who reject any semblance of traditional faith, but have embraced the global warming cause with true religious zeal. It has become a matter of unquestioned faith – even though Gore himself admitted that the premise of his film was based on exaggerated rhetoric that he described in a 2006 interview as “over-representation of factual presentation”.

joeymags | 3/8/2007, 12:15 am EST

i feel this country of ours would have been much better off if gore had been in the white house the past 7+ years .. i feel less safe now than i did prior to the war .. also, it’s pretty obvious where oil prices were going to go with bush in the white house .. think there was a slight conflict of interest considering the bush family is in the oil business .. i think GORE could be one of the greatest presidents in hitory .. GORE, PLEASE RUN .. OUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU

Johannes Roy | 3/8/2007, 3:54 am EST

Forget “Imagine” with regards to the past. The last thing americans need is a reminder that they voted for Bush… TWICE! That they gave up about 4000 troops chasing after the boogeyman. That Iraq is in shambles. That the corporate media does nothing but dissinform and pacify them. (Anna Nicole Smith stole the headlines for a WEEK). No. Gore is gonna give me 25 million dollars to end global warming? 25$ will get you the best crowbar money can buy, maybe we can start pulling people’s heads out of their asses. Seriously if you want to imagine something, imagine if America once again shone as the world’s beacon of hope.

Dennis Andreason | 3/8/2007, 8:36 pm EST

I feel Al Gore is the only individual who still commands sufficient respect throughout the international commmunity, while possessing the diplomatic skills necessary to heal the chasms caused by the gaffs and blatant abrogations of international law of the Bush administration. He is also the first one to realize the tremendous growth potential to be derived by being in the forefront of developing the technologies and industries to reverse the downward spiral of ecologic suicide the Bush administration has tacitly accepted in deference to the profitiability of their corporate sponsors. Al Gore won it before, he can win it again…but he does need to select a more ardent, committed running mate than he did previously. Not only the U.S., but the world as a whole, needs Al Gore to run…our very existence as Americans, and as part of the human, race depends on it!

Veronica | 3/9/2007, 3:50 pm EST

RUN, AL, RUN!!! We are the petitions?? I’m signing!

Silvio Renzulli | 3/12/2007, 8:18 pm EST

Yes I think Al Gore should run for president. I believe like many others he is our best chance for retaking the White House. We need a Hillary alternative and in my opinion Al Gore is it. Mrs Clinton is way too polarizing a figure and would only further divide our great country. Mr Gore on the other hand has issue (the climate cris) that can bring the country together. I think if he does stick his hat in the ring he will overnight become the new front runner. The more dems I talk to all want an alternative to Hillary. So run Al run!!!!!!!!

Perry Davis | 3/12/2007, 10:47 pm EST

Gore is the best candidate for many reasons — for me, the most pressing issue for the next president is repairing our international image and rebuilding relationships with our friends. Gore can do this quickly — he is known quantity and has the global warming issue that many of the nations are already on board with; the other candidates will take years to gain the trust of key foreign leaders and sell their agenda.

It’s going to take generations to undo a lot of the domestic problems generated by the Bush administration, particularly in the courts and commissions. Gore will hit the road running — any of the others, Hillary included, will not have the connections to do what is needed immediately.

As “Los Angeles Democrat” says:
Gore / Richardson
or
Gore / Clark

A homerun!

Let Them Eat Cake | 3/18/2007, 6:49 am EST

Clinton did a great job as President-all the Republican foul swipes at him, are totally without merit and political insight.

All of our candidates are good, Obama, Edwards, Gore, Hillary, and Clark offer great potential for Leadership…

The Republican Doomsayers are only displaying their own insecurity and frustration over the Inept Republican Clown who has fraudulently attempted to “lead” our country.

He(Bush)has taken on a disasterous journey that has stolen our rights, our economy, our civil rights, our credibility among Nations, our protection for the working people(health insurance, pensions, benefits, adequate wages, career goals), national security, our infra-structure, initiated & condoned a war based on lies, Profiteered off the war while our troops received little protection, cheap equipment and uniforms, are called on more repeat tours of duty than should be allowed,

Thus said, Obama/Edwards, Gore/Clark or Gore/Hillary would be good pairing…

Americans have weathered many Storms since Bush slithered into office, and it is time to chose, carefully someone Smart, Competent, Aware of National and Global Occurances, someone who is honest, outfront with what we can expect if he wins the Democratic Nomination, and, someone who has positive goals and a plan for our Country…

All four candidates could fit the criteria-we have some good choices on our side of the aisle(No more politicians in bed with oil/pharmaceutical/insurance companies, someone with integrity and charisma that will work to reinstall confidence in our Country and its Leader…

I am enthusiastic about all the Democratic candidates-let’s contribute in the campaign and election process, in whatever way we can best serve the candidate and his/her goals…

Bob Young | 3/21/2007, 11:21 am EST

If I may be allowed the pleasure of building a “Dream Team” for a moment, I think that a Gore-Edwards partnership would kick butt. On the other side of the coin, I also hope that Hagel steps in for the Republicans – hopefully he’d be able to find one, honest, unstained running mate.

Kerry Otterstrom | 3/22/2007, 12:04 am EST

I am a registered Republican but also sick of the Bush Administration, Mr. Bush is so arrogrant that it makes every American feel uneasy (what will he do next?) Mr. Al Gore if you run for President you will have my vote.

Valerie Caldwell | 3/22/2007, 9:14 am EST

I think Al Gore has the integrity, the experience, dedication of family values, and basically I am begging that he runs in 2008. He won the race against Bush. After seeing how this political system is handled, and all the hard work he put in to his campaign; to just get it snatched unfairly from him. This upcoming election needs Al Gore to pull this country out of the hole that George Bush has put us in and restore the faith that we once had when you was our Vice President.

mskarlamae | 3/22/2007, 9:31 am EST

Yes, Gore should run. As a young liberal, I hoped he would win the D party’s nomination in 1988. One can only wonder what the state of global climate change would be today if he had.

He’s got more experience and integrity than any of the other D candidates in the race. I think he would be great headlining a ticket with Richardson, Edwards or Obama.

Chris Fletcher | 3/22/2007, 12:43 pm EST

I urge Al Gore to become our next president. We the people elected him in 2000 and we would feel sorely cheated if we do not see him in his deserved office in January 2009.
Please don’t dissapoint US.

Frank | 3/23/2007, 6:24 am EST

Absolutely! AL GORE is the legitimate president who was denied the presidency by a political Supreme Court. I am a republican, and I beleive that Gore is the best suited candidate to win in 2008 and I will defintely vote for him. The Ideal ticket would Gore-Richardson. The rest is boloney.

KP | 3/26/2007, 8:39 pm EST

That would be a BIG YES. Please run Al. We need you.

Tara | 3/27/2007, 2:17 pm EST

Gore must run! He is the only one who did not sell out on the “War on Terror.” Even Hillary supported sending more troops to Iraq! America needs Gore now more than ever!! Since he was the TRUE president elect in 2000, he should have no problem winning the election in 2008!!

Micheline Smith | 3/30/2007, 12:37 am EST

America needs Al Gore. The planet needs Al Gore. After the ass kicking the Republicans took in November 2006 which Republican nominee could possibly beat him?

EJ | 4/1/2007, 12:38 am EST

I think Al Gore should run. The people elected him in 2000, and they will elect him in 2008.

Anonymous | 4/1/2007, 1:39 pm EST

rick&rena | 4/2/2007, 11:42 am EST

ITS THE RIGHT TIME HUMANITY NEEDS YOUR WISDOM. PLEASE RUN.

Tim | 4/2/2007, 12:28 pm EST

Al Gore should definitely run again, and I believe he would soundly defeat any competing democratic or republican challengers. The democrats have no one of comparable experience, and he wouild be the republicans worst nightmare. The public will believe that Gore was robbed of the presidency eight years ago, and given the total screwup of the Bush administration, they will opt to give Gore the chance that was denied him by the supreme court.

Smk | 4/3/2007, 12:31 am EST

and today, SCOTUS smacked Bush down on Global Warming.
After a long, hot summer, Gore will announce – I hope and pray!

J Hughes NYC | 4/5/2007, 12:37 am EST

YES, Gore should run and he will win. Cary allowed politics to get in the way of Bush stealing the last election. We will never know why he didn’t ask for a recount, but Gore would be a hard person to cheat with machines or anything else a second time around. Go Gore Go! We need someone who cares and I believe Gore really cares. He’s shown us this from his choice of course during these past private years of his. The man is a true American that will make careful honest decisions on matters of foreign and domestic.

patriot soldier | 4/9/2007, 3:38 am EST

Run, but not yet. As we step towards Facism and Ameri-Nazism, NO ONE but Al has dared to call it like it is. He is the only one to defend and extoll what FDR called ‘the rightous might’ of our nation. I believe he is the only potential president who understands what this country is all about.

Tyler | 4/10/2007, 12:50 pm EST

Yes he should run! it would be great

Eve Frye | 4/11/2007, 1:52 pm EST

He will certainly have my vote if he decides to run. Since the Bush oppression began I’ve almost forgotten what it’s like to be excited about a candidate.

Tom | 4/13/2007, 4:08 am EST

I hope Gore runs early or late. I voted for Nader in 2000. I’m more of a pessimist for our place in the world, but Gore’s optimism can win. I just hope he can start eating a little slower, and exercise a little more. Being president is a marathon race, and I want him to live to the other side.

kerrylus | 4/20/2007, 6:43 pm EST

YES-AL GORE SHOULD RUN-AND AL GORE WILL RUN. PLEASE–join the DraftGore movement. Just type it in, Draft Gore 2008. There is tons of stuff you can do, sign the online petition, join one of 142 Draft Gore groups across the country. Draft Gore now!!!!

Very Moderate Republican | 4/21/2007, 12:21 pm EST

Democrats – Al Gore won the election before. He will win again if he jumps into the race late and is “publicly” in the “center”. I plan to vote for him and may even donate. I am looking for leader with world vision not a world policeman. Example – If the police are called to your neighbor’s house because of domestic violence, do the police move into the house? It’s time for the police to leave Vietnam and come home. I mean Iraq, sorry. Is Iraq going to be better in a year, 2 years, 10 years? We are on the 5th year and . . . . Al Gore can take the focus off this money pit.

Do you realize how much closer we would be to energy independence if we would have refocused the BILLIONS of war moneys to green energy research? Instead someone decided to protect our oil interests, chase WMDs and invest in the “War Machine” that makes us all feel safe. Ask the former Soviet Union about the successes of guerrilla warfare in that area of the world. Well anyway, it’s not really a problem for me because our kids will be picking up the tab. Thanks kids! Now get to work! Al Gore will have PLENTY of problems when elected. The first four years will be the domestic financial problems of war debt.

GreenThumb | 4/22/2007, 4:53 pm EST

Where we drown in pools of confusion, there’s always room for a Goracle.

Lili | 4/23/2007, 1:50 pm EST

YES!!! He must run and He will win! We need a winning candidate…not another Dubya!

andrew brooks | 4/29/2007, 10:22 pm EST

America needs Al Gore, and so does the rest of the word, or there won’t be any world left. Who else will do what needs to be done? The job will be tough. It might even be too late. What has Gore got to loose? All is almost lost already. The job of a true leader is to serve the people!

nova | 5/7/2007, 5:07 pm EST

i’m a republican, and the only person i could see voting for is Al Gore.
Right now, he is the only candidate who could make me put down the remote and get my butt out of the couch and over to the polls in 2008.

John Q Public | 5/8/2007, 9:43 pm EST

There is no way Al Gore is going to sit back and watch the wife of Bill Clinton get the nomination next year. It’s Gore’s nomination if he wants it. Most Democrats and Americans will vote for him. That’s if all the votes are counted.

Bob Gettreal | 5/10/2007, 12:55 pm EST

Hey James,
I think you should get Nader to run. You probably think Rupublicans and Democrats are the same. Get lost jerk.

susana kalijman | 5/13/2007, 6:58 pm EST

ONLY ONE NAME rings true to the presidency of our beloved country AL GORE…it even seems natural, after all, since we elected him president in 2000, to finally be able to enjoy his leadership

Jand | 5/17/2007, 5:44 pm EST

If we had Al now instead of Bush what a different world it would be. If he would run and become President what a differnt world it could be. The job now 8 years later would be much more difficult. Yes I hope and pray he runs

Jon | 5/18/2007, 2:14 am EST

I’m registered Independent. I think a Democratic ticket of Gore-Obama would be compelling and probably impossible to beat. I’d like to see Hagel make a run for the Republican candidacy. That would make for a good election.

Chris (europe) | 5/23/2007, 12:29 pm EST

I’m sure I speak for a lot of those outside the states when I say that Al Gore (perhaps Obama as well) is the only hope America has of ever earning back respect from the rest of the world and avoiding a clash of civilisations. Seriously people. This election is not just about americans, is about the future of mankind. But whomever democrat candidate you choose to support, please don’t be lazy and go vote on election day!

westlynne | 5/24/2007, 7:07 pm EST

its my birthday and what I want is what I wanted in 2000, Al Gore as my president. Come on Al, we wanted you then, we NEED you now. Please run

Danny | 5/27/2007, 4:23 am EST

It seems to me as if this man can truly man a historic difference to the US and the world. I see some similarities between him and Robert Kennedy because he seems to truly beleive in what he does and has such potential. Additionally I believe the Bush Administration are scared of him becuase if he becomes president (he will) he will make them accountable.

It may seem a little crazy to say, but I fear for his life. There exist alot of people who fear Gore coming to power. They I believe have sufficient motive to take his life and a proven track record of supporting murder either directly or indirectly. These people or groups with access to subsantial resources and who would benefit by the instability created by the murder of a president or presidential candidate include the current administration, the US military complex and the oil industry.

Id vote for him if I wasnt an Aussie.

Nicholas Stoodley | 5/28/2007, 4:48 am EST

Al Gore needs it. America needs him. The WORLD needs him! There are times in the history of the world where a specific set of circumstances cry out for one man, a leader who can! Al Gore can and MUST.

Ryan | 5/28/2007, 9:58 am EST

I think Gore should run again. The reason why is because we are at a moment where we can make a difference. Not just putting a few things into a recycle bin or keeping the car smog level checked, but something much larger. We are at a point where we can put a person who has taken it upon himself to study the climate changes and who saw first hand the negative changes that have been made.
Perhaps you ask why I support Al Gore. That is the wrong question. Instead, ask why you don’t support him. Think past him. Think past yourself. Think about the future. The future you are leaving to your children whom you will spend lots of time to be sure they are safe and healthy. And now think of how all of that time spent is meaningless unless we also give them an environmentaly stable world to live in. We can see the ice in the Arctic and Antarctica is melting. We can see other countries changing cars and fuels and factories so that their countries are much better for the people and the world, and we can feel the climate is changing. I remember when I was young and the summers were primarily nice. I would like to say it feels much hotter because I am older, but I know that’s not the reason. The thermometer does not lie. I can see the temperature has risen since the time I was young. Some say it’s not a crisis. If you are like them, but you still see all of this happening, then why do we have to wait until it’s a crisis to do something?
I know some of his possitions in some issues but I would really like to see him take charge and run for president so that we all can know his position on all issues.
We all know he has said some awkward things but we all say those things. They are either said wrong or misinterpreted. Either way, Bush has made a cronic habit of making awful speeches. Gore has the reputation that he has built over the past few years and he has the education from his days in Harvard. There are few reasons for him not to run for President and there are also few reasons he should not become President. The good out weigh any bad. I can only hope people will not make a mochary of him and think about him, along with all candidates with an open mind.

lyn7905 | 5/29/2007, 10:48 pm EST

Al Gore would most certainly win the nomination in 2008. There are no words strong enough to express my HOPE that Gore will once again give America the chance to make him our president. I agree with previous posts in that the job will be 8 years harder but, oh how I’d love to tell such a success story to my grandchildren someday and impress upon them how important it is to stand up for what you believe because it will eventually take you where you want to go. Al, not a day goes by that I’m not listening for someone on NPR to tell me that you’ve announced your intention to run in 2008. So many of us desperately NEED you to run – WANT you to lead us – PRAY for you to be able to lead us out of the state of affairs of today and this horrible Bush administration!!! Simply tell us what you need to hear to make the decision to run again and I’m confident that you will receive what you ask for … many times over. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE RUN FOR THE DEMOCRATIC NOMINATION IN 2008.

Hungry_Hiker | 5/30/2007, 12:06 pm EST

I’d drop every other candidate out there in a milisecond to support Al Gore.

The former Vice President has the experience and the knowlege to run the country and help us be more respected in the world, and what’s more, he’s already won once. I’m sure he could do it again and this time actually get to be president. Go for it Al!

Stolen Bones | 5/31/2007, 10:56 am EST

Does anyone today believe that our voting and election system is honest and can be trusted? I want Al Gore to become our next president, but we will need international election monitors to insure every vote is counted correctly. Only Gore as president can fix our corrupt voting system, Bush not surprisingly has done practically nothing. Says a lot doesn’t it.

A Letter to Al Gore's Manager | 6/5/2007, 1:13 pm EST

I’m a Democratic Precinct Chair in Albuquerque, NM. I attended a Democratic Party Memorial Day picnic. At that picnic I asked at least 60 of the participants who they wanted for president. The most frequent answer, 40 of the 60, was ” If Gore would run I’d vote for him.” I asked the same people if they would vote for Hillary or Obama. 45 said they would not vote for Hillary and weren’t sure about Obama. The most common reaction was “Clinton and Obama are more Republican than Democrats. This from the parties working members. I would like you to convey my wish and the wish of the majority of grass roots Democrats that we would like very much to see al Gore decide to run for President. I will volunteer to help in his campaign if he runs. –

We desperately need Al Gore as our next President. Our Country sits in the most dangerous, precarious postion ever in history. Only with his vision, leadership and genuine love of America will we be able to overcome the tremendous challenges we will face in the next few, critical years. Our Country and Americans are crying out for Gore to once again step up to serve…our last chance to preserve America’s legacy in history as one of strength, integrity and a shining light to others. Gore has the qualities we need in our President …integrity, intelligence, common sense, compassion, and the ability to make the tough calls when necessary…a great leader in every sense.

Waiting on a friend | 6/20/2007, 3:39 pm EST

Al Gore should announce he’s running soon, because Bloomberg is forcing the issue. Bloomberg would support Gore if he runs, and now he’s hinting he may run himself. Al Gore would be hands down the better candidate and president plus the billionaire who funds his own campaign thing really turns off working class Americans. At least Bloomberg recognizes our country is broken, let him help by assisting Al Gore.

George | 6/20/2007, 10:37 pm EST

Yes, Al Gore should run and pick Wesley Clark for V.P. and tell everyone the truth that we will have troops in Iraq for the next 50 years. The USA provided a protectorate for the Philippine Islands from 1898 until 1941, and then from 1945 thru today; we have had troops in Korea since 1950; why should the Middle East escape our “protection”?

Lance | 6/26/2007, 7:20 am EST

Jason in CA | 6/27/2007, 4:03 pm EST

I would love it if Al Gore ran! I would vote for him in a hearbeat over any potential candidate so far. He’s shown true leadership on the tough issues that are facing us right now.

Mys | 6/27/2007, 11:27 pm EST

Mr. Gore, You are truly the most qualified and worthy candidate. please consider helping we the people repair a broken system!

Sonny | 6/28/2007, 10:35 am EST

When Al Gore anounces his intention to win the presidency in 2008 the world will witness an amazing passion for a candidate unseen for a long time. Most Americans feel strongly that we were robbed in 2000 and will want to right a wrong. Al Gore owes us this victory too. It’s not about him, it’s about our system, our country and what is right. Part of him may not want to run, but he knows deep inside that he has to run. I trust that Mr. Gore and his advisers will choose the very best moment to announce to the world his intentions to become our next president. Republican negativity and attacks should be equally beaten back hard and ignored.

Jim | 6/28/2007, 2:43 pm EST

Please run Al. Nothing less than the future of the planet depends on bold, corageous changes in the US. Changes that I believe you are the only candidate who understands and who has the courage and convictions to carry out.

Please run

Laura Martin | 7/1/2007, 10:07 pm EST

I cried a river when he lost in 2000 and I will cry a river again in 2008. I’m praying and waiting for the messiah to come again OR else I will not be voting for the first time in my life! Do you hear me Al?

Sharon | 7/4/2007, 7:11 pm EST

If Al Gore decides to run I would urge him to interview the individuals who worked in the Nashville offices of his campaign headquarters in 2000 prior to the decision to switch his campaign headquarters from Washington D. C. to Nashville. Prior to the switch, the Nashvillites had great pride and motivation in their mission to put their efforts forward to help elect Al Gore their next president. Their spirit and moral was sky high until they were invaded by an influx of elitist campaign workers and leaders that were forced on them by top campaign executives who had no idea that their actions were sabotaging the very epicenter of Gore’s campaign. (Donna Brazile is credited for managing Al Gore’s 2000 campaign)

I have spoken to individuals in that office who were highly motivated in their mission until the switch. The ideas and efforts of the original dedicated staff of Nashvillites were belittled by the new arrivals from Washington and other parts of the country. One Nashvillite mentioned to me that the original staff felt their presence and ideas were continually dismissed. The prevailing attitude of the imported staff and leaders led the original Nashvillites to feel invisible, obsolete and expendable. Moral took a giant nose dive and the heart of Gore’s campaign headquarters was irreparably broken. Hence, I really question the opinions of so called campaign experts (like Donna Brazile who royally mismanaged Al Gore’s presidential campaign. Had she the proper skills and attitude to make the campaign a success, any destructive and self-defeating environment at campaign headquarters would have been quickly recognized and turned around. I believe Al Gore received the popular vote despite Ms. Brazile’s inept efforts). If Al Gore runs I hope to God he turns for advice to individuals who are recognized for their wisdom and track record for success…instead of turning to those who are known for practicing arrogance, disdain for other’s opinion and self justification for their failures.

I just finished reading “The Assault on Reason”. I’ve never been so motivated by a political book, or at the same time so angered by his perfectly detailed summary of every single thing wrong with the Bush administration. His book could serve as the platform for his campaign. I was slightly leaning to Al Gore before reading this but now I’m absolutely convinced he’s the perfect man to lead us out of the Bush-imposed dark ages!

Lindsay | 7/7/2007, 4:05 pm EST

Please, Mr. Gore, PLEASE run for President in 2008! It’s not too late to run… I’d donate in a heartbeat to your campaign, and so would millions of other Americans. Please bring dignity, truth, and heroism back to our country.

hannah | 7/8/2007, 12:32 pm EST

We are dire need of change!!! If Gore runs for president I think he will win and implement the drastic this country needs!!!!!!!!!!

Gena Tuffery | 7/11/2007, 12:58 am EST

Al: this isn’t a ‘do you want to run?’ thing, this is a ‘you just gotta run’ matter. Sorry mate, but the only way you’re going to achieve your environmental goals is to become the leader of the world. Yes, as a Kiwi , it pains me to say it, but it’s true and you know it—the American president leads the rest of the world round by the nose. And we’d all stop resenting it if it was you doing the leading. SAVE THE WORLD AL. Literally. Please.

Christian - Reno | 7/11/2007, 11:28 am EST

We’re waiting for you to run. Those of us who cut their teeth in political activism during the 2004 and 2006 campaigns fighting for CHANGE are ready for you. I’m ready to get active again, fight for my Country again, and fight for change. Just say the word. Please – we need a leader.

Paul Petschek | 7/14/2007, 3:22 pm EST

Al Gore should definitely run, and when he does he will definitely have my vote.

He is the most qualified, the most experienced, and when he says it like it is there is no one better.

Just beware the cautious and frankly not very clever democratic strategists. Watch the “know it all” attitude.

Run with the passion that we have seen in recent years, and even the naysayers will be convinced.

Run, Al, run!

Mr. Gore, we need you! The younger generation is not inspired by any of the current candidates for president. They remind us of a tired and worn out briefcase. And for that matter, we don’t even use briefcases, we carry laptops. Times have changed, please run for President!

Al Gore could save the planet from rising sea levels, wreckless oil consumption and unmitigated CO2 emissions. He also has the experience, poise and intelligence to guide this country in the right direction. He won before–he can win again!!!

Please, Mr. Gore, please. If you don’t run, I’m not voting. This country AND the world needs you. It’s time for this country to rebel and we need you to lead us through this rebellion. Political leaders need to open their eyes and see what they’ve done AND be held accountable. We need you!! Please……

Please run Al!! Our country needs you. You have said that you have lost your love for politics – that is exactly the kind of president we need. Not someone who is all about politics/money/greed/corruptio n/lies to name a few. I voted for you in 2000 when you won the first time, and I will vote for you again if you run.

Count me in among those praying Al Gore enters the race. I saw him speak in Los Angeles, and he was brilliant, funny and right on the money. Not only would he make a dynamic President, but it would have a healing effect on the country — righting the wrong that was done to him in 2000. Gore-Obama is my dream ticket, but I’ll take any combination. How can we convince him?

Please, God, let Al Gore run for president. We need help so bad.

Susan Wallior | 7/19/2007, 11:09 pm EST

I sat glued to the Live Earth show, overcome with tears, hoping beyond hope that he would have Melissa Etheridge announce his candidacy. My resolve has not abated. Al Gore should have been our President in 2000, but is actually the best possible person now to help America realize what it needs to do to thrive in the future. Energy alternative planning is what will keep our planet habitable in the future, not borrowing time by taking another country’s finite oil supply. My religious upbringing taught me that we are stewards of our lands, caretakers of each other, and that our supreme being is the ultimate Judge. Without conservation, the Earth may go on, although devoid of life, but we most certainly may perish due to our own greed and laziness. Al Gore has found the strength, and truly cares about the time we have left on Earth. I urge any who feel the same to at least review Al Gore’s writings, speeches, and if you find you agree with him, please urge him to consider running for President in 2008

Misha | 7/21/2007, 1:37 pm EST

Even though it appears that Mr Gore is not going to change his mind about running, if enough people BEG him to do it, I believe he’d change his mind!
Please, Mr Gore, this country NEEDS you now!

cf | 7/21/2007, 2:39 pm EST

Please, please, please. Your country needs you. Our world needs you. We know it won’t be easy stepping up to that plate that was so wrongly pulled from you before, we know it’s a sacrifice for you and your family. We know you aren’t excited about the idea, and with good reason. We failed you before, it’s true. We didn’t work hard enough to give you a clear victory. We didn’t stand up and shout loud enough to be heard when the election was so shamelessly stolen. It won’t happen again. We will do everything in our power to hit the streets, to get the vote, to ensure a fair election, and to help you in whatever way we can to make you proud of us — if you will only give us that chance by declaring your candicacy. We’ll work together and we WILL make a difference, but we need a true leader. It isn’t often that the people stand up and choose the best person without that person asking to be chosen, but it’s happening now. Things happen for a reason and maybe enough people weren’t ready to hear the truth 2 elections ago, not quite ready to work hard enough. We are now. You have a chance to make a difference in a way most people could only dream about. Please take that chance on us, we won’t let you down again.

Andrew Brown | 7/23/2007, 10:43 pm EST

Al Gore for President!

Edward | 7/25/2007, 8:04 pm EST

America is founded on the principle of democracy and justice. By all rights, those principles were violated when Mr.Bush was sworn in as President eight years ago, and it is thus no surprise that since then our moral standards, our democracy and liberty itself, have been endangered. We have a chance; just one, to redeem ourselves and set things right, and that is to put the rightful President into office. That President is President Gore. In my mind, since 2000, President Gore, not Mr.Bush, should have been in office. The past 8 years we have been living a lie as a nation, and we have paid the price for obstructing the democracy and liberty that our forefathers laid down for us because we were too cowardly to oppose the strong-arm tactics of Mr.Bush. Our democracy was stabbed in 2000. Please don’t let it die. It’s very simple- President Gore must be in office in 2008 or we will have failed ourselves as a nation.

Cathy | 7/26/2007, 1:24 pm EST

Carol Yeager | 7/27/2007, 2:01 am EST

We need a man we can trust and one we want to follow. And that’s you Mr Gore. PLEASE don’t let your people down. We won’t let you down this time. I voted for you once and I’ll vote for you again. I’ll stand on street corners in the rain passing out pins, Anything if you’ll run. Your contry needs you now more than ever!

Really, it’s your duty to run.

Don’t disappoint us.

I am a strong believer in timing. Al Gore should be the current president of the United States. If Al Gore would be our current president we would have gotten Osama Bin Laden, and we would have not be in Iraq. Now we need to play clean up over Bush’s failed war and a stronger build of Al Queda. In 2008 Gore if decides to run will be the next president of the US. Already addressing the world’s biggest challenge with Global warming. I hope that Al decides to take on the challenge, he needs to put America back on the map as one of the most beloved nations.

Amanda Seward | 8/13/2007, 11:27 pm EST

I am still holding out hope that Gore will run for President. Everyone here has given very good reasons. It would be our opportunity to make right what went terribly wrong in our country in 2000. And the Democrats would have a real chance of winning. Is there anyone that voted for Gore that would not vote for him this time around? Given his commitment to environmental issues he certainly would capture new voters. He also seems to have grown so much since the 2000 election, finding his voice, speaking his mind, and showing his true self. America needs what his candidacy would represent and I again I hope he will take the plunge.

I pray pretty much continually that he will run. I have wanted him to be president since 1988. But now America desperately needs a leader of his integrity, experience, talents and vision. Run, Al, RUN.

mathematician | 8/14/2007, 9:08 pm EST

Katie | 9/7/2007, 6:05 pm EST

He is 59 years old. He is at the height of his career/life and he has done SO very much. He is making a difference, and can make so much more of a difference as President.

NOW is the time for him to run. With an impending Nobel Peace Prize also in his future, there is NO better time for him to run as President of the United States.

So, run, Al, run. We need you. We need an INTELLIGENT man in the Whitehouse.

Vickie | 9/13/2007, 9:38 pm EST

Mother Earth to Al Gore——
I need you to run, and you know it. Please do the right thing.

Mello | 9/20/2007, 4:18 am EST

After Hillary’s latest proposal, mandatory health insurance, I am now convienced that she is a Republican in sheeps clothing. The only 2008 canidates running, on the right or left, that have real integrity, don’t have a snowballs chance in hell of winning. The front runners are more of the same, bought and paid for politicians, or are lacking the experience clearly needed to tackle the issues of this time.
Mr. Gore, For our childrens sake. You are the most qualified person alive to lead our nation. Please run.

Tommy | 9/26/2007, 9:46 pm EST

So many have said it: Al Gore is the exceptional person that we need to run this country. The clock is ticking and I am afraid we may be stuck with another “something-to-be-desired.” We must act now for Gore! Writing letters to the man and asking others too is one way to get involved. If he does not run, we are all going to need to do a lot more work to make change (because it doesn’t seem likely any of the other candidates will). So many people on this column seem to be for Gore. We need to all get involved and get others involved. Mother Earth needs Gore and needs us all.

RUN, AL, RUN!
You won in 2000 and it was stolen from you. Oh how very different this world would be today if you had been our President!
I’m 65 years old and I still work, but I would quit and work FULL TIME for your ticket, it’s that important to me!
RUN, AL, RUN!

Run Al Run!
You’ve done what you can for the world now come home and bring honor back to America.

Steffanie | 10/12/2007, 12:45 pm EST

Al Gore is the only candidate I will vote for and if he doesn’t run, then he will be my write in candidate.

This country is not one to play around with or satisfy your agenda with…its time we get Al Gore in the White House. He stands for what is good and right and will make America a country to follow for all the right reasons!!

Mark Dee | 10/12/2007, 12:59 pm EST

In my opinion there is not a Democrat or republican running
for office that should be the
next President of the United
States! I truly believe that
if Al Gore were to run for
President he wins hands down!
We all seem to forget he has
already held the position of
Vice President of the United States. There is not one candidate
running that has the qualifications he has. I am dissapointed in all the current candidates on both sides and do not even feel like voting. AL GORE FOR PRESIDENT!

I am not even American and I so badly want Al Gore to run!! I think many people around the world feel the same… The world is praying for a US leader who cares about our planet’s future and who will prevail over issues such as Iraq’s occupation.

I think that Al gore should run. Right now he is the best Democratic candidate. He is the one who can actually beat Hiliary Clinton. I don’t think there is another Democrat that can, except for Gore. I know that him running will pose a problem with Bill, but who cares. They were once the greatest team we had running this nation. Maybe Gore can get Bill to run as his Vice-President?? I don’t think that has ever happened in America, ex-president now vice president and ex-vice president now president? Wouldn’t that be nice to have them back?? We honestly don’t need Hiliary in office and I don’t see anyone else better than Al Gore for President in 2008…

Rachel | 10/17/2007, 1:59 am EST

EVERYONE SHOULD WRITE IN AL GORE IF HE DOESN’T DECLARE AND RUN…IF WE ALL DO IT, MAYBE A WRITE IN WILL ACTUALLY WIN AN ELECTION AND WE WILL ALL BE ALOT HAPPIER.

Dear. Mr. Gore,
It is clear that the Bush Chaney administration has intentions of starting a World War 3 with Iran. America needs you to start running and be outspoken to stop this madness. We don’t need anymore US catastropes. You can win this, we need your voice of sanity. Hillary won’t be able to beat Giuliani in wartime, but you can. The Democrats in Congress including Hillary Clinton have been a pathtic opposition. Please get off your high horse and serve your country.

Yes.. YES

Paul S | 11/8/2007, 4:48 pm EST

After suffering through the better part of 8 years with an adminstration that has distinguished all hope I have for the future, having Al Gore as president would return me to a child-like state of optimism for the future and really restore my faith in humanity (another commoditiy in short supply thanks to the current administration).

Please run Al, and give us a chance to correct perhaps the biggest mistake this country has ever made…electing a man whom I am convinced is evil…twice!

scott | 11/8/2007, 7:39 pm EST

Dear God, yes Gore please run in 2008, and before January.

Michael | 11/13/2007, 9:14 pm EST

When Bill Clinton was looking for a Vice President, he viewed Al Gore as an expert in National Security, Arms Control, Information Technology, Energy and the Environment and all this was acknowledged while Bush Sr. was in the White House. I can’t think of any other candidate who has the abilities and is needed NOW more than Al Gore!

Anthony Barcelo | 11/18/2007, 7:44 pm EST

I think if there was a right time for Al to run and win, that time would be now. He is perfectly poised and positioned in the country’s consciousness to make the impact he needs to and deliver on the goods. I think the proof is in the pudding. We now have seen the other side of Gore, the more likable side, probably the more brilliant side. C’mon, he’s an Oscar Winner,
Emmy Winner, Nobel Laureate, Former VP, Former Senator, VP at Apple. Al is now an icon of what is possible in America. I’d vote for him. . . AGAIN.

peter.... | 11/27/2007, 9:56 pm EST

we need to establish a government for the people…. the only person that can do that is al gore…. anyone else will be ineffective to change the course this current president has established…. the conservatives will always be a detriment to our society… even as a minority party they are incouragable as politicians… al gore is one very strong and reliable politician that will cease the negativeness in this country…

please al let us know you will be our man in the white house…

PJ | 12/10/2007, 11:37 am EST

As a Tennessean, I was appalled that we did not support our native son. I have read this list of comments and I too know if we do not elect someone who can regain the respect America lost, my entire family will be at risk. I hadn’t really thought of a VP candidate, but West Clark would be perfect. The two together will bring our country what it so desperately needs. Sorry John Edwards, I would have voted for you if Al doesn’t run, but you would have to consider Torte reform. I will write in Al Gore, as others will do if he doesn’t formally announce.

Michele | 1/11/2008, 5:30 pm EST

Anthony Theobald | 1/29/2008, 11:59 am EST

Please Al;
Declare and run. The world needs you in the White House now.

Al save us.

caresmail | 2/12/2008, 8:10 pm EST

Al….we need him more than ever. The world is falling apart and there is this great divide in our country. He can bring us all together again.
Please Al…run.

A. Kupers | 3/8/2008, 2:35 pm EST

There appears to be a large number of us voters who aren’t 100% satisfied with the the current presidential candidates. None of the three–or four if Ralph Nader runs again– seems to possess the experience, knowledge or ability to handle the job, particularly because of the mess we’ve allowed our leaders to make of this once great country.

Therefore, I hope and pray that Mr. Al Gore, with all his wisdom and foresight, will hear our pleas and step forward to announce his candidacy for the President of the United States. We trust you will do the right thing. I apologize for asking you to run for this office AGAIN, but America needs you now more than ever.

Diane Louise | 3/9/2008, 11:34 am EST

We elected him 8 yrs. ago – let’s do it again with strong enough backing that the Supreme Court can’t take over and give the job to another incompetent. Let the people speak – we need a President with experience and intelligence!

Tom in Missouri | 4/1/2008, 2:12 pm EST

Al Gore is the one candidate that I would be satisfied and confident voting for.

Sandra L Bush | 5/2/2008, 12:05 pm EST

Al Gore is my choice for a write in for President of the United States- no matter who is or not running. It is that simple. Electopral college be damned and obsolete!
