The Youth Vote: Kingmakers in the Senate

11/8/06, 4:24 pm EST

I just got this from Rock-the-Vote:

“Young voters increased their turnout over 2002 and favored Democrats by large margins,” said Hans Riemer, Rock the Vote’s political director.  “They played a major role in the Democratic victory.”

A sample of exit polling from close Senate races around the country shows that the youth vote was key to the Democratic victory.

US Senate    18-29 yrs

Virginia            52%    48%

The Republican party is in for a rough patch. I can’t see “Generation X” shifting right as they get older the way the hypocrite baby boomers did. I suppose the Republicans have a chance with the teens though, if they can keep the kids off pot.

To Duh!

I agree that the Baby Boomer generation turned out to be a but of conservative hypocrites, but I hope that this election means they are finally taking their thumbs out of their assets.
