A lot of the Republicans running for re-election right now are trying to distance themself from the administration and the war. By pushing the ‘no-confidence’ vote, Democrats are asking the Republicans to put their money where there mouth is. Do they think the war is going poorly, and people need to be held responsible, or are they going to put the interest of their party before the interest of the people?
The Democrats playing politics, but at least their doing SOMETING.

And the Republicans are trying to accuse Sen. Biden of “Too Little, Too Late”.

Isn’t that Bush’s moniker for 9/11 and Katrina? He seems to own the title…….

I don’t think that comment about this war lasting longer than WWII should be allowed to go unchallenged, regardless of my opposition to the Iraq war. The allies occupied Germany well into the 1950’s, and there was German resistance. The Iraq war, misguided as it was, ended when Saddam’s regime fell. What we have in Iraq now is a troubled post-war occupation with an organized resistance.

Klaatu – You make a good point. While I do disagree with you on the war, you are right about the occupation of Germany. We did the same in Japan, and have been on the DMZ in Korea for 50years now. And when we waged war in WWII, it was all out war, no effor was made to try and not kill civillians, we decimated the enemy and his population.
