This video is good because it shows what normal people really act like in a war zone. It’s disgusting, hilarious, sad, violent and everything else you can imagine the human soul is possesed by. A far cry from Evan Wright’s “Killer Elite” series, I would show this video to my parents (if I had the balls) to give them a better idea of my own experiences in Iraq. Accept our squad got hit. Still, it didn’t change much.

I would just like to say thank you that the magazine cared enough to send someone over there and that you were brave enough to go, and tell what is going on over there. We have 2 sons over there Spc Justin Wilkerson. We worry constantly. They can’t tell us what it is like over there. For one thing they don’t want to worry me, but then the military doesn’t allow it. I pray daily for all of those guys over there. I know alot of them and they are like my sons. So thank-you again!!! Now, I have to tell you how proud I am that the so many people now know how talented my oldest son is: from how stretchy his skin is, to the folding of his ears, which he has been able to do since he was a baby.That special foot tatoo that made me less than happy for the first 6 months that I had to look at it…hahaha..But he does love his tatoos!!! But what can I say he is a special young man, who likes to make people laugh. There are alot of special guys of there and I Just want to thank you for the article. As a mom i live in fear on a daily basis, not knowing if both of my sons will make it through another day. And I know I’m not the only parent, wife, grandparent,or child that prays they will make it through another day. And this story just makes me realize just how proud I am of everyone of the men and women over there. It is a tuff job, one I know I could never do. I have to say that I actually thought the article was well written with grit that is real over here. You left no stone unturned as for the REAL situation over here. There are tons of Fobbies as you call it. Maybe 15000 of the whole 130,000 are in dangers way. Good writing but overtly pretentious. Taibbi tries to present things as being extremely “metaphorical” and acutely symbolic -war is war. He also has a terrible narrating voice that does not bring back the vivid imagerys of Dr. Thompson.

Непрестижные – те, о которых знаешь лишь ты один и слава Богу, если. Чтобы проверить, престижный для вас тот или иной недостаток, попробуйте представить себе ситуацию: вас обвиняет в этом недостатке другой человек. Если вы обиделись и оскорбились, пусть даже слегка, – то это НП. Если почувствовали себя польщенным, пусть даже слегка, – то П.

Престижными хвастаются (если есть) и приписывают себе (если нет). Непрестижные стараются не афишировать. Поскольку ЖЖ – это ярмарка тщеславия и паноптикум позеров, то достаточно прошвырнуться по десятку журналов, чтобы составить соответствующий список. Естественно, мой список крайне субъективен. У вас он может быть совершенно другим.

Итак, начнем с первой группы:
1) Цинизм
В этом недостатке признаются те, у кого он есть и даже те, кто плачет при виде убитой мухи. Быть циником – в этом есть что-то благородное и страшно модное: сразу вспоминается Оскар Уайльд, цветы в петличке, белокурая бестия и английский сплин.

В ЖЖ любители цинизма фигурируют как “циничные романтики”, “добродушные циники” и проч. Кроме того, это очень удобно в качества предисловия ко всякого рода категоричным заявлениям. Написал, что все бабы дуры, – ну так а что ж вы хотели, я же циник, вот даже в юзеринфо написано. Очень удобно.

2) Снобизм
Первоначальное свое значение это слово, видимо, давно утратило. У Теккерея, придумавшего его, сноб – это “мещанин во дворянстве”, представитель низших слоев общества, который млеет от восторга, когда герцогиня просит его подержать собачку.
Чаще слово “сноб” используется как синоним высокомерия по отношению к окружающим. Повод для высокомерия может быть самым разным. Человек сморкается исключительно в шелковые платки или курит только дорогие сигареты или слушает только Шнитке и чрезвычайно гордится этим – вот вам и сноб. Таким образом, те, кто объявляет себя снобами, автоматически подчеркивают, что они – это элита и любят все штучное. Что не мешает некоторым втихую смотреть бразильские сериалы.

3) Жестокость
Быть жестоким приятно, особенно – людям слабохарактерным. Когда говорят, что ты жесток, то это значит – тебя нужно остерегаться, и топтать себя ты никому не позволишь. Кроме того, жестокими были все роковые герои мировой литературы и кино, а также почти все так называемые “великие личности”, делавшие историю. А теперь и ты уподобился им, сообщив своей девушке, что нее на попе целлюлит. А если девушек/парней менять как перчатки, то от сознания собственной жестокости просто в зобу дыхание спирает. Иными словами, ты – значителен! Чувство собственной значимости переполняет тебе душу и ты понимаешь, что не зря живешь на этом свете.

4) Коварство
Ну признайтесь, вам не будет слишком неприятно, если о вас скажут, что вы коварны. В коварстве есть, как и в жестокости, нечто привлекательное. Сразу мелькают ассоциации: Екатерина Медичи, придворные интриги, флорентийские яды, кровавые кинжалы, высокий черный воротник. Романтика и дюмасовщина, как говорили в позапрошлом веке. Поэтому любую мелкую пакость можно объяснить собственным коварством и порадоваться.

5) Мстительность и злопамятство
Поскольку они между собой тесно связаны, объединила в одну группу. Тоже дюмасовщина. Плащ и шпага, вендетта, Кармен, миледи, роза в зубах, лилия на плече. Хочешь почувствовать себя графом Монте-Кристо? Расскажи под замком, как ты отшила бывшую одноклассницу, которая десять лет назад не дала тебе списать.

Понимаю, что список далеко не полный, но перейдем к недостоткам непрестижным.

1) Мнительность
99 процентов людей самолюбивы. Оставим один процент для святых и праведников. У некоторые самолюбие сочетается с гиперчувствительностью – в итоге получается мнительность. Это качество похоже на крикливого младенца: достаточно показать палец, чтобы довести до истерики. Я уверена, что среди тех, кто меня читает, уже нашлись те, кто примерил на себя комментарии к престижным недостаткам и решил, что все эти язвы кровоточат у него на теле.

2) Слабохарактерность
Тоже нередкий недостаток, но, поскольку всем хочется быть мачо и амазонками, мало кто в нем признается. Для женщин это, в силу патриархальной традиции, менее обидное качество, ибо сказано: сила женщины – в ее слабости. Только следовало бы уточнить, слабость – это что, собственно? Физическая немощь? Умственная? Слабость характера?
А вот попробуйте мужчине или непатриархально воспитанной даме сказать, что они слабохарактерные. Пуху и перьев не оберешься.

3) Тщеславие
Поскольку это милое качество присуще огромному количеству людей, распознать его нетрудно. Это заявления типа “Ох, мой Vertu поломался, что делать?” (она знает, что делать, но ей надо сообщить, что у нее есть Vertu) или “Ужасно, ужасно, меня просто достали звонки из New York Times, умоляют о статье – пришлось накидать за десять минут четыре столбца в передовицу”. Принцип одинаковый: вроде бы я недоволен, я жалуюсь, а на самом деле – посмотрите, как я фантастически крут.
Ну или пишет девочка как бы ненароком – мол, вы не знаете, рубины сейчас в моде или сапфиры? А то мой собирается подарить, а я все в задумчивости.

Кстати, как правило, обязательно находятся дамы (которым, видимо, никто не дарит рубины и сапфиры), которые пишут, что предпочитают искусственный жемчуг и вообще, дарители драгоценностей достойны презрения, ибо они расточительны, а как с такими жить?
Меня подобные комментаторши особенно умиляют, потому что ну нельзя же так явно демонстрировать такое качество, как

4) Зависть
Завидуют все; завидуют всем. Особенно почему-то завидуют худым, богатым и замужним. Лучший способ избежать зависти – публично объявить, что вы несчастный, невезучий, серый человек. Вот тогда вы заживете счастливо! Вам обеспечено море сочувствия, симпатии, понимания (и все совершенно искренне, что характерно) и, возможно, вам даже дадут взаймы немножко денег и познакомят с симпатичным мужчиной.

Вывод: множество людей подсознательно стремится создать себе имидж рокового злодея, которому все позволено. Винить в этом, думаю, следует массовую культуру, построившую вавилонскую башню на тезисе “плохой пацан – крутой пацан”. Ну и индивидуальные особенности личности. А каждый ЖЖ- это растянутый над шоссе огромный билборд, на котором написано: “Я – значительный! Похвалите меня!”

Simply boot from your XP Setup CD and enter the Recovery Console. Then run “attrib -H -R -S” on the C:\Boot.ini file and remove it. Run “Bootcfg /Rebuild” and then Fixboot

-Master boot record (MBR)
-Boot sector

If the Startup Repair option does not repair the error, or if you must troubleshoot more steps manually, use the Bootrec.exe utility.

Note that this is for Intel based systems only (mainly laptops) and you would be well advised to image your disk BEFORE YOU TRY THIS just in case something happens and you cannot boot your system (IMAGE, IMAGE, IMAGE!!!)

Once you have your disk images precede with the following:

Backup your registry or make a restore point just in case.

Under search: regedit
Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\

Locate: folder “iaStor”
Under “iaStor” you will find a folder named “Parameter” > delete this folder

Locate: folder “iaStorv”
Under “iaStorv” you will find a folder named “Parameter” > delete this folder

Reload Vista

At first, I would like to give some basic definitions for variety of modern computer threats. All these threats are currently known as Malware.

Malware (”malicious software”) is any program or file that is harmful to a computer or computer user. This would include, computer viruses, Trojan horses, worms, spyware, adware, keyloggers, web-page hijackers, driveby downloads, and any programming that gathers info about a computer user without their expressed permission.

5 years ago, the most security threats that most people came across were Viruses.

This is no longer the case!

There are new threats out; and they take no prisoners, no longer is an anti-virus application sufficient to stop the invaders, the web is a complex place and the technology is getting so advanced that you need to act now to protect your machine and your private\personal data.

A quick overview of some of the more common malware that you might find, sorted by level of threat:

SPYWARE

Spyware is any technology that aids in gathering info about a person or organisation without their knowledge. On the Internet (where it is sometimes called a spybot or tracking software), spyware is programming that is put in someone’s computer to secretly gather info about the user and relay it to advertisers or other interested parties.

TROJAN

Trojans are malicious programs often used by hackers to attack target computers, usually to provide a backdoor into the system but sometimes just to cause destruction. Remote Access Trojans (RATs) are the most famous class of trojans and they usually come in two parts – a server that is sent to infect the victim, and a client that the hacker uses to connect to the server after the victim is infected. There are many ways that hackers can use to infect a target with a trojan, and careful security measures aren’t always enough – a strong anti-trojan program can easily detect tens of thousands of trojans that would otherwise be near-impossible for a human to find.

VIRUS

A program or piece of code that is loaded onto your computer without your knowledge and runs against your wishes. Viruses can also replicate themselves. All computer viruses are manmade. A simple virus that can duplicate itself over and over again is relatively easy to produce. Even such a simple virus is dangerous because it will quickly use all available memory and bring the system to a halt. An even more dangerous type of virus is one capable of transmitting itself across networks and bypassing security systems.

WORMS

Worms are in a similar category to viruses. Usually spread by email and containing their own email engine, they attempt to spread themselves to all the people in your address books, impacting greatly on network traffic on the web. Sometimes you will find viruses also contain Worm code so the virus is able to mail multiple people using its email engine, whilst infecting the machine with a specific virus, making the sender of the virus hard to find as it looks like it has come from someone you know.

KEYLOGGERS

A keylogger is an application that has been dropped onto a PC that actively monitors all your keystrokes and mouse clicks to try to capture both personal data, passwords, and browser habits, it will also capture any data entered on any web site including secure sites like online bank sites. This data is then stored in an encrypted text file either on the machine or sent to a pre-defined server for the sender of the keylogger to access at his discretion.

ADWARE

Adware is any software application in which advertising banners are displayed while the program is running. The authors of these applications include additional code that delivers the ads, which can be viewed through pop-up windows or through a bar that appears on a computer screen. The justification for adware is that it helps recover programming development cost and helps to hold down the cost for the user.

HIJACKERS

A hijacker is a expression used to explain a registry entry on your machine that has been placed there to re-direct your browser to another site, usually ad-purposed. These are not normally harmful for the machine, other that the fact that it will stop you from getting to the web site you wish to visit. It is more of a frustration than a security risk; however, some Hijackers will attempt to redirect you from Hijack removal sites.
