Native Oklahoman Blake Shelton isn't just giving lip service to the devastation his home state has suffered this week. "The Voice" coach has sprung into action, telling Billboard that he's already organizing a benefit concert for tornado relief. Shelton, who revealed his plans after Tuesday's "Voice" episode, noted that details are still forthcoming. However, "I'm hoping it will raise a lot of money," he noted. This past Thursday, the night that Candice Glover was crowned the new "American Idol" winner, another, almost equally headline-worthy announcement was made: Her debut album already has a title, cover art, and a firm release date. A release date about four months earlier than the ones previous "Idol" winners got. The song had new meaning to the hip hop artist last October when he celebrated the birth of King Cairo Stevenson, his son with his girlf...  | More »

  • Buddy Miller and Jim Lauderdale: Alt-Country’s Dream Team

May 15, 2013 9:50 AM ET | Yahoo Our Country
     |  Chris Willman

It’s been a great season for alt-country duets records, as evidenced by three pairs of singers who just got nominated for favorite duo at the Americana Awards: Rodney Crowell & Emmylou Harris, Kelly Willis & Bruce Robison, and Buddy Miller and Jim Lauderdale. All these recorded pairings have been in the makings for decades, and it’s just a coincidence of timing—maybe overseen by the Louvin Brothers from up above—that these projects all finally came to fruition ...  | More »
